@OP: Did you forget to consider that maybe Ascended weapons aren’t something that they intended for you to have on every single slot? Kinda like how you’re not expected to have 1-4 Legendaries on your character?
Have you considered that legendaries were supposed to be skins only?
The irony is that I do better with that build than many of the Zerker noob generation you guys are promoting as ‘the best’. It’s about the player, not their gear. I get a good laugh rezzing DPS Rambo who is downed every 15 seconds while telling me I don’t know how to play.
I’m sure if those bads would use your build there would be no difference.
So 95% of the Armorsets we have were designed for WvW and PVP?

Why do we have 30 Utilityskills, 5 Traitlines with different stats and traits and 5+ weapon sets per class then? Only for running Build X, pressing 1,1,1,1,1,1,V,….. and doing the same kitten over and over again. Reading in Patchnote, “for buildvariaty” and laugh.

And AGAIN…. No one here says, that running Zerker gear wouldn’t be the most effective way to completet the content. But we want some challange to players running with berserker gear. Or reward for group play not for pure dmg. Ok maybe there would be some Bosses that cant be defeated with full Zerker gear, who cares? Thats life. At the moment every boss gets harder for not running Zerker gear.
If you run a full soldier set at the moment, you only get disadvantages in current meta. Only at trashmobs (that are skipped anyways) you would see a difference. Bosses still oneshot you, the fights takes at least two times longer. Which means more room for mistakes and get whiped.
If you want a challange, try killing Lupicus (for example) with a tanky, or healing orientated group and without reflecting
Except at very high level (70+) fractals, most bosses without unique mechanics like Hunter&Crusher do not one shot you. Take tanky guardian against lupi and compare that to zerker guardian. Night and day.
Actually (again, if I’m doing the math right), the difference between them lessens.
Include perm fury, 25 stacks of might, 25 stacks from superior sigil of perception, superior sigil of force, bowl of sweet and spicy butternut squash soup (I figure +100 power, +10% crit dam is the best food for zerker), and potent masters maintenance oil, and average weapon damage (instead of just assuming max every hit).
Exotic, zerker:
Damage done = ((((3399*(1100+995)/2)1.0)/(2600))1.05) = 1437.86
Average damage = base*(1+.84*(1.21+0.5)) = 3503.24Ascended, clerics:
Damage done = ((((3458*(1045+1155)/2)1.0)/(2600))1.05) = 1536.15
Average damage = base*(1+.73*(1.12+0.5)) = 3352.803352.80/3503.24*100 = 95.71% damage (that cleric does of zerker)
3352.80/(3503.24-3352.80) = 22.27
—> ~22 hits on zerker == ~23 hits on cleric
Firstl of all, no one uses oils in pve. Secondly, you forgot about banners and other modifiers. The final difference is about 3.5%. What does it tell you? That getting “superior” weapon should be welcomed because it’s pink? I don’t understand what you want to prove.
Why do you bring pugs in here? Make your own party and play how you want. That’s how good players do anyway. You could say I run with typical zerker elitist yet I can go ahead and run with hammer in dungeons and that’s perfectly fine for them.
You can’t change zerkers efficiency without making scrubs complaining even more about “hard” content.
All challenging content will do in this game is cause hordes and hordes of people to complain and for the challenge to be nerfed so that you can just autoattack with a staff-camping cleric guardian for the win.

Add buffs like fury and might stacks. Zerker’s exotic is better by about 4% than cleric’s ascended and that’s without food and perception stacks which only increase that difference. So why should anyone be grateful for getting useless gear. Just because it’s pink?

I’m against new tier of the gear when there is no content that would support its introduction and against the method of acquisition of said tier. You’re getting bis gear for doing mindless activities while challenging content gives you basically skins since you will have to transmute those.

Fractals had no content patch since November, that’s 10 months. They’ve been left to rot for living story crap.

Playing something challenging like arah dungeon should reward you proportionally to spamming 1 in open world. The reward ratio to risk and effort put is currently completely broken. High risk/no reward and no risk/high reward sounds okay to you?
There is no “epicness” in getting a drop you’re going to sell for 4s6c.

That’s the POINT. Having Berserker be the ONLY acceptable set for PVE means that if you want to run any other kind of content, you have to use your Berserker-geared character to grind out a whole ‘nother set of gear for the other builds and playstyles you’d like to use that are trash in the current PVE framework.
At least you don’t have to farm even more once ascended armour comes. Just have 1 standard gear – berserker.

I choose not to die from boredom while doing mindnumbing, brainless activity people like you find entertaining. What happened to “play how I want”? At the launch you could have got BiS gear from numbers of sources, wvw, dungeons, karma, crafting.
Explain logically, why people like you need gear progression without any new content? You can’t have fun without it?

Green berserker’s greatsword will exceed damage output of cleric’s ascended greatsword. Why would you want to get a useless piece of kitten that you can’t even salvage? I’d rather get a random rare.
Also great for trasmutation. As much as I want the Zerk Ascended stats, I dont want the red color SO I will be making another ascended weapon type to transmute that color onto the zerk stats.
White with cleric’s stats I presume. Most epic gear ever.
Gw2 Dungeon community: Skip, skip, skip, stack here, skip, exploit.
There is something seriously wrong with dungeons in this game. Stating the obvious but I don’t think it’s been stated enough. Seriously, every other game that I played involving dungeon content was extremely enjoyable but here in this game it’s downright frustrating so I don’t even bother partaking any more.
Gw2 Other community: Spam 1, Spam 1, Spam 1.
There is something seriously wrong with open world in this game. Mindnumbing, brainless lagfest that rewards you for going alt-tab and watching a movie.
90% of people who posted here think that zerker means rolling a warrior and spam 100b and mobs die. In other worlds, they are completely clueless.
Make encounters requiring even 1 utility skill and most of players will come to forums and cry to anet “I want to play how I want”. TAFU/SNAFU comes to my mind.
Coordination? Recall old simin? Literally hundreds of complains how it promotes zerkers while in reality it needed a basic coordination. You make encounters requiring more coordination then pugs will complain you need voice communication.
Most of the stuff anet designed like control weapons were made specifically for pvp, otherwise mobs wouldn’t have 150,000 hp.
Toughness/vitality? Liadri would be the best example for average player but have you ever tried high level fractals? Anet doesn’t do harder content by introducing more mechanics, they do it by increasing damage of the mobs. Defensive statistics are basically for pvp where they do matter.
Priority should be to make dungeons/fractals more rewarding than brainless, mindnumbing spamming in open world.
New gear for no new content, anet’s logic is unparalleled. Not to mention the acquisition method.

The cool thing to do now is salvage everything you get, go to different zones (you wont just get 80 loot all the time) . Even in wvw killing lower players gives me lower end loot. Or i get badges, which then i buy prints and sell on tp, then buy lower loot to salvage.
I’m playing a game – fractals. I get ~100 bloodstones, 49 empyreal fragments, 0 dragonite ores and 1-2g for 1-2 hours of work.
I can also do arah, arguably the hardest dungeon. Average completion time for a pug would be 30-45 minutes while getting 50 bloodstones, 20 empyreal fragments, 0 dragonite ores and 2g.
Sounds okay to you compared to someone who spam 1 and gets >20x more for miniscule effort?
While you’re here: Why do you like Tribulation Mode in SAB, which is the epitome of trial and error, but insist on hating on trial and error in dungeons?

Fractals was introduced to give you gear grinders something to do. Imo, fractal players are far from the normal players in this game.
Who is a gear grinder? Someone who plays for challenge, gets 1g for 1hr+ of effort and didn’t want any of ascended crap in the first place? Or the person who believes running around cursed shore, spamming one and gathering wood should give you better gear?
According to pugs, Earth is flat.
You can’t crit him anyway, pvt is all new rage.
Dungeons are obsolete, we’re getting revamped Tequatl in 10 days.
If you get a stat for a playstyle that you don’t already have complementary armor/trinkets for, then that drop is pretty much useless.
That’s why it’s better to get a choice of stats than a choice of weapons. Each profession uses several weapons. So there would be a much higher chance of getting a drop that you can use.
Of course that’s probably why Anet lets you choose the weapons — they know you’re likely to get something you don’t want. They want you to take as long as possible to get your Ascended weapon because in the meantime they don’t have to produce meaningful content for the game.

Brainless activities rewards you with BiS while challenging content is left to rot. Maybe some players don’t like mindless spamming 1 but prefer to be rewarded for their effort equally to those who like “world” events and standing in LA by the crafting panel.

Acquisition method is made specifically for casuals which don’t even need this stuff since maybe 3-5% population do fractals 30+. In the meantime, challenging content gives you literally kitten.

If having no vertical progression is the way to go – why does this game even bother having leveling? Shouldn’t AN take it to the extreme and eliminate vertical progression all together? Do you really need to play 80 levels in order to become “prepared” for the exciting world of zero end game content?
Now the end content is about standing in LA by your crafting panel, great design indeed. Anet should stop leaving dungeons and fractals to rot and improve them and their rewards.

My first run in a GW2 dungeon was through AC Path 3. First boss fight, everyone tells me stack in a corner on the other players. We burn the spider down in about 30 seconds with no real excitement. Just stand there and mash buttons.
We then proceed to kill the next boss, skip the third boss, sprint through trash mobs to the fourth “boss” (this one actually requires you to run around in circles, exciting!). Again run through trash mobs to the fifth “boss”, rush through that fight while ignoring all the trash mobs. Sprint to the final boss of the dungeon. Again everyone tells me to stack on the rest of the group, this time in front of a column. Boss comes up to us. We stand there for 30 seconds spamming skills, it dies without any hubbub.
I thought this game was supposed to be fun? I thought it was supposed to be skill based? I thought it was supposed to have dynamic combat? Standing in a corner stacked up, unable to see anything, while spamming skill buttons is not my idea of fun.

Sure, and it is different – but that doesn’t mean you have to be 100% different. It throws away the core mechanic that makes MMOs successful. No vertical progression is laughably bad.
gw1 had no such stupid thing. But I guess you need a carrot to have fun.
It is. It’s the core of MMOs. MMOs can’t survive on gameplay alone. They make sacrifices in gameplay and mechanics in order to be an MMO. The exchange is constant character progression. Right now GW2 has made sacrifices in its gameplay to be an MMO, but offers nothing in return. You get to the level cap and your progression for the most part completely ends. It’s a little silly.

In my opinion, ascended gear was the best thing that happened to this game, whether the general population likes it or not. It made people go out into the world and farm for materials, and made them farm not only champions, but dragon bosses, dungeons, jumping puzzles, and everything else. Not only that, but it gave me incentive to actually level up my crafting, which I never had the desire to level up before.
Farm is fun, we get it.
Well I took the time to read the OP, and pretty much agree. Im glad some one put it up, because really the whole primacy of ‘reflex’ based stuff is annoying me. That, and the whole dps dps dps thing :P
Maybe that’s not a game for you? Lack of casting bars, slow motion attacks and other design choices shows it was their intent to made a reflex based game.

There are plenty of players who have been requesting, for an entire year, for hard content that rewards top gear. Instead, to get the ascended weapons, we must farm for countless hours by spamming auto-attacks, or hope for RNG within RNG to not get useless ascended gear.
Anet in its infinite wisdom gave us autoattacks. You don’t have to spam it, just leave it turned on and go watch few minutes of some movie. Get back and tadam, high end content for BiS gear done. MMO innovations I say.
Well, for one, it wasn’t direct at anyone but the person I quoted. The fact that I quoted someone in particular should have shown that.
Secondly, the person I quoted said they needed a shrink to enjoy the game, somewhat implying they don’t enjoy anything, if you read what my view on what ‘grind’ is. Hence the question about why they play.
Lastly, I didn’t say anything about being able to help people with their woes of having to do something they don’t enjoy to get to things they do enjoy. Neither did I defend the method of acquisition of BiS gear.

If they had made drops be random stats AND random weapon, the OP would not be complaining at all. That would have been exactly like he expected. But they make it more convenient and more likely that he will get the exact weapon he wants so he starts complaining because it isn’t easy enough.
It’s like when you buy a child an ice cream and they complain because you only bought them one scoop instead of 3.
