Can’t watch videos at work, but what ever it says you are wrong.
If this game requires no skill please show me your GL solo thx
Same, but I can watch! In your face, sucker!
Basically, it’s an old Strife’s clip that says there’s too much emphasis on fluff instead of real content. Maybe something more, I wasn’t paying attention when I watched it few months back.
Do you even know how many bosses can be soloed? Search for Wethospu on Youtube.
I think Wethospu deserves to have a mega end game boss of the death named after him and be unbeatable
It was a bug.
I’d say mobs should stop using and even interrupt their own reflectable attacks once reflections skills are put up.
read what you wrote…..
You consider pug taking one or two slots with a random player and telling them what to do…
No need to answer further posts since intent is not discussing the game……
Mute pugs, I see.
It’s designers work to try to make the AIs as solid as possible.
They will always perform on a scripted way and be “exploitable” up to some degree. They probably will suck at kiting and won’t easily avoid AoEs just by moving (it would be “fun” to see this while a ranger pet burns to death inside a big red circle), that’s why they probably should have higher HP pools than human players.
Design flaws that could have been miss (like wasting interrupts against a shelter or using stunbreakers against 1 sec dazes) can also be solved by patches.
You can even randomize spawns, picking enemies from a pool of 10 or more templates, so a given cheesing tactic can’t be used every single time.If groups find a way to easily beat those encounters, that’s OK (it probably takes more teamplay that the current fights; just that sounds like a step forward to me). It’s still PvE and there’s no reason to try to exactly replicate PvP (that’s what PvP is for :P), just to make some fight PvP-like in order to improve teamplay and encourage the use of many tools that are currently neglected (because they’re mainly balanced around PvP).
As I said, I would love to experience it at least for once, and I encourage ANet to try to design some fight like this for any upcoming LS patch and see how it works (probably won’t happen because it feels like an insane pugbuster :P).
Once again you described gw1 model. Mobs do move out of AoEs and they do have randomized groups. Gw1 model was initially assuming pve to be a training ground for pvp – three missions in crystal desert were the best example of that.
[…] the Wraithlord’s Hunter will dodge attacks.
That’s precisely what I was talking about. You can exploit him pretty easy.
Lets think on a group of veteran/silver mobs (3/4 should be fine) that are coded to not be baited by LoS (or the fight mechanics / room designed to avoid that) and try to behave human-like (they have weapon swap, endurance bar, heals, cleanses, stunbreakers, …).
A group like this could spawn whenever an (interesting if possible) boss goes into the next phase (with different mechancis and skillset, if possible), being invulnerable and gaining health in the meanwhile, so the longer it takes you to finish the adds, the longer the next phase will be.Suddenly, everything changes. The current tactics (stacking in melee, maximizing boons, while trying to perform maximum DPS rotations and avoiding hits, be it by regular dodges, aegis or whatever) will probably be still viable against the boss itself, but not necesarily with the adds.
You hardly can melee stack and full DPS against a GS/S phantasm mesmer that will knockback you if you don’t pop up stability, evade twice (at least, he will probably have permavigor) in a random direction (so you can’t stack foes with an AoE CC skill and get them stacked for the entire fight), use phase retreat if out of endurance or immobilized, blink if cced, moa the most threatening damage source, … while still being AoEd by reamaining foes.
A fight like this would probably encourage the use of CCs, immobilizes, gap closers, ranged secondary weapons, interrupts, coditions, … and A LOT of teamplay.Coding something like this (a proper AI) could probably be a nightmare, but I (and everyone looking for really fun and challenging content I guess) would love to experience it, at least for once.
I absolutely think that it beats hands down the current full DPS LoS/stacking gameplay and the current difficulty ramp up by HP pool and raw damage increase.
That would be awesome. But there is always one fundamental flaw, ai is not human and you can always find a way to exploit that fact.
You mean a bunch of zerker warriors with a guard or a mesmer. yeah… wasn’t into that really, nor was my guild. I’d need to search around for the 15s video on the TA aether path boss, and no telling how many times it took. My warrior isn’t even full zerk, has soldier mixed in, since I run with mixed groups I play with a lot… like normal GW2.
No, I don’t mean a bunch of warriors with mesmer and guardian. You can check a video of lupi in my signature that has 1 warrior, 1 mesmer and 0 guardians.
Wat?? You can solo the TA aetherblade boss in 15sec?? Please share how! Heck, I’m always just trying to get off the electrified floor w/o hitting those twirly things as I fly 50ft across the room in continuous waves. Then I look back and everyone is ded! Wind up kiting him around, avoiding more twirly things, as I try to revive everyone… someone. And that’s when he’s not bugged into full armor buffs yet, then it gets interesting.
I should have used new paragraph. What I meant is that you can kill most bosses in about 15s with a decent group.
Woah, since when sometimes means 99%. Are there any vids on youtube with pugs?
Last time I checked power builds were not synonymous with zerker.
I haven’t noticed an overall HP decrease as much as I have noticed that more vets are running about instead of silvers. I have also noticed there are a lot more enemies in general… I’m for this change, though, since a whole lot of smaller HP bags is preferable to one gigantic bag.
Something I’ve always found interesting is that everyone always has a different response to the whole skipping thing. Some say it is to make money. Some say it is because they are bored with the dungeon. Some say it is because they enjoy skipping. Some say it is to be “leet”.
If you didn’t notice about 50% reduction of silvers hp you must have had really bad dps. Husks don’t die in 2-3s in old TA.
And why multiple smaller hp bags are preferable to one bag? It increases the importance of AoEs, makes los-ing even more important and reduces the viability of single target cc-s. In other words, everything that BHBs stand against.

100 people at Grenth?! Never saw that. It’s too hard for most people that just want to zerg in at the last moment for a chest. Like risen priest? My warrior can solo that, not my guard. And getting some good range with that is valuable.
TA boss was the same, big range at times with a blood rifle. And that going regen warrior (+food) that is always last man standing. Even last boss in AC, good range or you stand under falling debris too much. Lots of times, I’ve done the same content with all classes, many builds, guard has it’s uses, but it’s simply not the end all be all of classes. If it were, everyone would be playing it and it’d be facing a huge nerf.
Soloing most bosses at range is trivial. Bosses in TA die in 15s if you go full melee with proper dps builds. At the last boss even that sylvari npc says you should melee him.
Maybe all new players should run the dungeon they way it was intended instead of rushing in and trying to learn how to skip mobs and the ways to go.
Because that’s the problem, Vet’s will just skip mobs and new players have no clue what’s going on – then they die/get kicked and make crybaby forum posts..
How about you just play the dungeon – no skips, every dungeon is doable then. You should have no problems, then you have a rough idea of the mechanics you may learn different approaches to the dungeon.
Don’t make QQ threads about people not teaching you when you haven’t even researched anything yourself.
Good point. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, when I was running dungeons for the first time I was actually clearing them. Even Arah path1 was cleared, including area before lupi. Took me almost 2 hrs.
Los is not intentional.
Its just the limit of AI…its not exploiting at all for sure.
As was not using permastealth by thieves. Its just complete lack of balance..nothing more.
And stacking and losing requires (in most situations) 0 skills……it just requires proper builds.
The point is stacking also reduce time needed to clear a dungeon….so reward wise you get not les sthan 3 times the reward you get playing a dungeon normally.
And since this game has became a total grindfest you can t ignore such rewards thus anyone that knows how to do it, stacks every time.
Another proof:
Fotm are not that much about rewards and that is why stacking is less used in fotms…otherwise we would see every run as a copy-paste even there.
Who doesn’t stack in fotm?
That is irelevant. People are crafting ascended gear no matter they like it or not. In the end everyone will be eventualy forced to have full ascended or be disadvantaged agains other players or will not even have chance to participate in content like fractals.
If you dont understand it or dont want to it is your peoblem. But you can never say that people like it becouse they are working on it.
Yep, I am working on it but I kittening hate it.
I meant unfair… for you.
I’m sure I can handle it, unlike BHBs.
Well, the good news is that Anet is already starting to do the stuff you mentioned. For example, the newest dungeon revamp they have made it so the entrance to each area is closed off until you kill all of the enemies, or the objectives are surrounded by adds and the objectives themselves are slow to complete.
Anet themselves have stated that they are looking in to increasing how profitable the mobs are throughout the dungeon, but are having difficulty balancing this. The problem is that if you make the random mobs too profitable, then players will just do the beginning of a dungeon instead of skipping to the end of the dungeon.
It is annoying that players actually avoiding playing the game, but this if Anet’s current trend continues, then this problem is only a temporary one.
They also decreased mobs hp by large margin making them literally melt with decent parties. People don’t skip because it’s fun, they skip because killing mobs is unrewarding waste of time.
But thats not fair. Cose you have already ran Arah 100+ times.
So? I can do them again.
Then you limit your content. I don’t even fully melee my warrior. Go into AC, Grenth or TA Atherblade, try sticking to melee with short ranged. At times everyone needs to get some real distance while still providing some damage. If all you are doing is champ zergs, you’re set. It’s no secret guard lacks substantial long-range, it’s by design so everyone doesn’t just run with guards as the OP suggests.
I’ve done AC and new TA in full melee. What is the problem with it? You shouldn’t include world bosses into that because:
- there’s too many particles on them making dodging much harder
- the boss is upscaled to ridiculous proportions
- you can go afk with ranged weapons anyway so no one cares about that
- even if you want to challenge yourself, your 2-3x higher damage in melee won’t change much because of 100 zerglings with cleric’s/ptv gear using staves.
For pve, fresh air 30/30/0/0/10 to get some basic survivability. For pvp, wait for meta change.
Run Arah without skipping 100+ times, I’ll do the same but with skipping. Let’s see who gets bored first, a person who is playing a game or the person who isn’t.
This whole whining is ridiculous, what happened to ‘play how you want’?
What’s satire?
Mf food. Dungeons are easy enough without buffing stats.
Agreed. Food doesn’t work with WMDs.
You can further reduce the gold spent on mats by farming them.
That sounds like “You can further reduce the gold spent on mats by getting more gold”.
Here I’ll post the link again for those that seemed to have missed it.

The LFG tool is NOT there for you to sell things. Using it for that is abusing the LFG tool.
If you can’t understand those 2 sentences… I can’t help you understand.
We all have seen the answer of community manager. Was anyone banned?
Heh, so you want people to play with one hand? Game is already easy enough that you don’t need passive defences.
The situation here is the prime example of miscommunication. People that say that warrior’s dps is moderate but not best are those that consider party dps as a whole. People that claim their 100 swag is better do not see the bigger picture.
If you want to exlude fgs against the wall in that solo you should also exclude things like “do not move” and “push him against the wall” because that’s also shady for certain individuals.
Even the best elitist guilds right now know that warrior is just average dps.
They’re elite, not elitist guilds.
Please re-read the post. Your comprehension is seriously lacking. I also added an official statement on the matter. (Your trolling sucks, step up your game)
Your logical reasoning isn’t exactly better.
What’s satire?
Im a nice person though. I really am.
Me too, me too.
Occam disagrees
I don’t have any weapons. ;<
No the facts are the original poster came in and said:
1. Should I go healer or DPS?
2. Don’t think healing is bad for PvE and tell me to just DPS the entire way.
3. Is Staff better for Healing or Utility? As usual the lack of reading comprehension kicked in and the Spreadsheetamentalists around here immediately started telling the original poster, who specifically stated don’t tell him to go full DPS, to start going full DPS.
This is why comments like this are destructive to the community. People come here looking for some specific advice, and instead of getting it they get a lecture on how they should be playing X way and if they aren’t then they aren’t helping their group and they should feel bad for not doing so. Who wants a guilt trip every time they come to ask for advice?
People should really learn to read and listen to what people are looking for before you attempt to “help” someone.
Finally someone that opposes those elitists. Keep up the good work!
2014 meta, carrion gear. Oh, wait. There’s no carrion ascended gear.
You naturally get glancing blows against higher level targets. Weakness change made glancing blows to override critical hits which means on top of halving your damage they remove all critical effects.
Eviscerating a level 84 target is always a fun gamble!
Eviscerating level 84 kitten golems after Mittens is dead is even better gamble!
Nerf the exploits until brave rifle warriors are meta, and then nerf them.
Your definition of carry isn’t able to support other players the same one a tougher guardian can. For example, you can’t soak a decent amount of damage to keep a player from dying in a down state.
Also, I don’t know if any of you realise, a lot of the mobs basic ai actually naturally targets high toughness players, even bosses have a natural tendency for target high toughness players in certain phases or (the whole phase) e.g. Lupi. Just by wearing the gear, you’re saving your party members skin unknowingly already.
Some people may define carrying as being the sole survivor, I define carrying as being a player which brings the ability of the party as a whole higher by giving the right supports at the right time while doing good dps.
Last bit:
I’m talking about it in general as a stat (yes you get more toughness because it becomes the primary in knights gear).
Carrying a pug means they completed a dungeon but without you they wouldn’t have.
Eles are bad in fractals. That’s why I run a warrior and swap back at the end for ele.
So people dont get annoyed when they are kicked from a group? Thats news to me. Ill feel less guilty about kicking pugs when they waste mine and their own time in future.
You should not feel guilty at all. Have someone on ts, synch all kicks and then ask on party chat “why did he leave?”. Fun.
The problem i see in the dungeon’s forum is that the allegedly hardcore guilds of this game spend more time trolling here than playing the game. I think this is because of the lack of endgame, the only true endgame in gw2 are the living stories but the so-called hardcore players refuse to do it because it makes then look casual.
Imagine smashing pinata for hardcores.
Anyway, some of us, maybe even majority, are doing it but what can you do after you finish new TA story mode? Do you repeat story mode dungeons?
You obviously don’t go around carrying pugs all the time because if you did, you would realise that playing as a zerk build guardian is not capable of doing that. When defensive guardians play, they play to ensure that other party members survive. Even, in the worst case scenario where the party fails, you can still solo the boss yourself easily.
It definitely is possible to carry the worst pugs with berserker guardian. I’m sure I did that even in Arah.
By the way, when I think defensive, i’m talking about knights gear, which basically sacrifices the crit % for some toughness.
Knights doesnt sacrifce crit damage for toughness but power for toughness and crit damage for power.
Its a shame too. If most noobs would learn something from there, the quality of pugs would go up.
I’d say they would ascend.
-snip-
I’m sure there are many gw1 vets (including me) that wanted pve resembling gw1 pve where most of the mobs and bosses were using players’ skills. Not only that, but some groups of mobs had certain synergy in their builds and it was almost like fighting in pvp. But there was one fundamental flaw – mobs are not players. Ultimately, player should always win because he can adapt or use “cheap” tactics.
did you guys know that los-ing is mentioned in the gw2 strategy guide?
There’s a strategy guide?
I’m sorry, did I say somewhere that Mesmers cannot do these things?
If you didn’t imply otherwise you should practice logical reasoning.
They have combo fields, can provide swiftness, protection and regeneration (and soothing mist), heal and remove conditions regularly on nearby allies, and have ‘larger than melee’ range and ‘bigger than melee AoE’ on their melee set (which can be quite useful at times).
Mesmers have chaos field, can provide swiftness, protection, regeneration, heal and remove conditions. They also have a lot of projectile control skills.
No you can’t. Your heals are crap. Hmm, no heal on dodge or 2000 heal on dodge? 120/sec regen or 350/sec regen? Symbols healing for 350/sec or no healing symbols? 250/sec VoR to entire group or 80 VoR to just yourself?
You can claim that healing is inferior to DPS, but you can’t claim that you support just as well in zerker because your heals are trash.
Your heals are crap but your reflects are much better.
