I’m not going to read 4 pages of “BERSERKER BEST YOU WASTE MY TIME WHEN YOU NOT PLAY BERSERKER” and “I PLAY THE WAY I WANT YOU ELITITST”. I read those pages every day when I walk through the forum. Not again. Forgive me when I repead something already said.
I have one major problem with the OP. You preach freedom. And in the same minute, you ask people to report everyone who thinks different than you. “play the way you want” works both way. If you want a tank-healer in a no trinity game, well, okay. Whatever. But if I want a full zerker party, how dare you report me if I dont want to play with you? Am I not allowed the same freedom you have?
You are not satisfied to play the way you want, you want everyone to play the way you want – and thats Incorrect Thinking
That’s hypocrisy.
It’s just “massive”, not “tons of damage”.
Everyone that is used to getting loot without fighting the mobs.
Clueless as ever.
Chess is not about killing pieces, it’s about controlling the board. If you go for the king without controlling the board, then yes you need to take pretty much every single one of his pieces. Otherwise they’ll take your king instead.
Your analogy is silly because in dungeons you don’t control any of the areas that you skip, and you also don’t kill anything. You run into a dungeon, and magically pass through the entire army that defends it as if it wasn’t even there. Then proceed to kill the final boss, while the entire army that you just skipped magically forgets about you and goes about their business.
That means that you are taking advantage of bad AI and poor game mechanics, so don’t bother make idiotic excuses. Either the dungeon mechanics need to be improved, or the mobs should be unskippable. Until the dev schedule schedule allows them to address that, they temporarily let cheesers cheese. But it doesn’t make it any less cheesy.
Do you even have a clue who will get mostly punished if they make mobs unskippable without reducing their hp 2-3 times and improving their loot tables? Even the dev anet fired knew it. You apparently do not know it.
There’s been one guy in dungeon forum who claimed he had spent 16 hours on pre-nerf simin.
Guardian dodge heal is approximately 1500 at 0 Healing :p
It’s 129. Are you using too many cleric’s pieces without even knowing it?
Current ascended gear (not even a full set yet) gives between 5 to almost 20% increase to DPS depending on the stat set used . That’s not a joke bump.
Wow, 20%, that’s a lot.
I should write a short story about Swiftpaw.
Make it an anthology!
CC does not exist in this game in any form. Knocking down a mob or a player for 1-2 seconds is completely pointless except for an interrupt.
Charm, sleep, mesmerize, root, transmogrify, polymorph, fear, mind control and sap are CCs. All are from 8 to 45 seconds long, some can be ranged casted and all have varied rules for breaking. Some even have benefits for the victim.
You even mentioned how long they should last, splendid.
Actually, this is only because of those 2 Elementalists in there, and our FGS glitch. A group without 2 Eles wouldn’t be able to do such kill.
It still wouldn’t be just warriors+guardian and mesmer.
I think ascended armor should be craftable. But Legendaries should be the rewards for content.
This makes sense if you thunk about the meanings of the words Ascended and Legendary.
Yea, you craft to ascend. Makes perfect sense.
Fashion week.
You will probably try to LH him to death right? Or use FGS. then be shocked once you get stream rolled and wonder but I thought the ele had the highest dps
Before you make fun of someone that theorycrafts pve make sure he’s complete pvp noob.
Just implement more acquisition method, crafting is the worst method they could have ever picked. I’d be okay even with mystic toilet to upgrade your exotics to ascended, most people probably transmute their exotics anyway.
I think casual/elitist in this sense can be better explained as either being the type of player that would take negative action (kicking from dungeon, making negative comments, etc.) on another player based on their choice of build, play style, or gear (within reason) or being the type of player that will not, for whatever reason.
So what if I don’t kick people solely because of their build, play style or gear but I do kick them if they play badly? Besides, what you have just said, makes absolutely no sense regarding their unofficial definitions.
Role playing, what else?
Berserker “issue” is not going to change unless ANet releases content that is truly designed for organized groups.
Berserker itself is not the problem, it probably has too high crit damage numbers (specially with ascended trinkets) but it’s not the only damage boost “elite” groups make use of. Those groups also cap might and vulnerability stacks and get a lot of raw %damage increase from runes, traits and sigils (like night/slayer combos).
If content will be designed for organized groups, things like massive might/vulnerability stacks, optimal sigils and damage oriented builds (maybe not optimized, but clearly oriented) should be expected. Then, if a bossfight is designed to last 3 minutes on average, a fully damage optimized group is hardly going to finish it in less than a minute (and I’m probably being generous).
The current zeker issue is caused by a lot of PUGs don’t stacking boons and running weird things like full PVT with dolyak runes and sigils of blood so, if you want enemies to last enough against optimized damage groups (so they have time to do something more than explode after failing their first attacks cause a blind/aegis/whatever, which is what happens in most cases now), then every single silver mob could easily feel like fighting a champion for many pick up groups, which is just ridiculous. The problem is that, even if ANet will release this kind of organized team oriented content, we would still be reading complaints every day, just for different reasons.
Spot on, people that want to “fix” the non-existent issue will have completely different problem if they actually do it. Bosses don’t die 5x times faster for speedrunners because of zerkers alone.
For zerker: Anet needs to create bosses that have more than 1 shot mechanics. If you get 1 shotted anyway, there’s no reason to bring any defensive stats. Just look at WvW. Zerker stats are not dominant — and that’s because gameplay is much more varied.
There are only a handful dungeon bosses with 1 shot mechanics. People claiming everyone one shots you are simply using hyperboles. Only very high level fractals (above 50), few dungeon bosses with specific one shot mechanics (Risen Crusher in Arah for instance) and upscaled world bosses which is not the problem of the bosses themselves but the scaling mechanism. It should give bosses tools to handle zergs instead of making them bigger meat bags.
For conditions: Conditions should be changed to fire-and-forget. In other words, condi duration and damage per tick calculations for conditions should only be calculated when the condition is applied — as opposed to every single second the condition is active. That way there would be far fewer calculations and data retrievals almost certainly removing the need for the 25 stack limit.
This is one of the good idea because, frankly, I don’t understand why getting might stack should somehow increase the damage of bleed you have already applied. Though, that would probably mean a lot of programming work to do and I think easier and faster to implement would be to increase the damage of bleeds while decreasing the application potency. In other words, less but stronger stacks.
My concern is the ratio of elitist to casuals. Lets say the game community is 90% casual, 10% elitist.
You are either a casual or elitist? There’s nothing else beside that?
What harder content? where CC matters? please explain.
Arah? lol! makes sense when you can basically run straight to every boss.
The new TA? I’ve only ever run it on my guard in pugs and like I said, I’m doing the grouping with GS#5 so that my groups can AOE or multi-hit targets.
COE? only hard if players can’t dodge alpha attacks. That’s a “we don’t have the timing right” issue, not a “we have to kite or lock down one target while we do something else” issue.
Other than that one skill, I will say it again CC hardly matters at all. Maybe it will when we get some raids or something.
In other games that play up CC and usually use the trinity, there will be mobs that are too much for the group if allowed to roam while the other mobs are being killed and have to be locked down in some way. The only places that remotely had anything happen like is are in things like:
The new Teq at battery phases, helps to use CC to keep mobs away from batteries. Well, slows and knockbacks or pulls.
The others, um…asura/harpy frac. I know I use chains of light here for parts like tanking the abom. The first shaman phase in the grawl frac where CC is probably a must stopping the grawl from pushing the sacrifices into the lava below.
Traps, chills, fears, knockbacks…are nice little gimmicks, but there isn’t any content when it’s actually needed and has to be apart of a fight and ups the chance for success.
Don’t think anyone said anything much about support because it’s there to some degree. I think the guard also trumps every class there because while everyone else pumps out damage enhancers like might or fury, the guard actually prevents damage with things like aegis, blinds, protection and probably the most important skill in the game “WALL OF REFLECTION”. (feedback comes in a close second).
not talking about optimal speed clear groups here as you don’t need anything those groups can do to clear any content in the game. Even in those cases, the largest support anyone gets is might.
P.S. pvp is different story
Mobs from high level fractals. You don’t skip them and they hurt harder than bosses. CC is not needed because of design, but it helps. Blame anet for “every party composition should finish the content”.
This describes the problem but does not answer or excuse it, nor does it really address the tiny condition cap.
It’s a problem in your eyes. Clearly, designers had different opinion when they were designing it.
Condition cap will never go away without better server infrastructure. Only thing I imagine they could do would be to allow burning and poison stack while decreasing application potency and simultaneously increase damage of bleeds. In other words, less stacks but more powerful.
Sure, but that’s being pedantic and missing the forest for the trees. In most games, there will be different ways to gear that are very effective – a different spec may require different gear, for example – indeed there are in GW2 – just not really in PvE. This is clearly an issue. Also, in other games, there are often a number of very close alternatives, which is not really the case here. If you removed Crit Damage from the game, it might be (not my chosen solution, just one approach).
Those specs are effective in other games because there’s an emphasis on strict roles and you need all of them to complete a content. Here, we don’t have strict roles and those soft roles we have (support, control and dps) mostly do not require different specs. You don’t get stronger control aspect with different gear and support is balanced such that healing power increases your heal/regen potency but offensive gear increases your reflections and certain supportive conditions like blinds and vulnerability.
Since when elitist equals to theorycrafter or min/maxer? I think you’re confusing what means elitist.
It seems me like, in many ways, the most pressing issue for this game, mechanically, is the fact that there is basically only one “right” way to gear (and thus few to spec/trait, as well) for PvE.
There’s always one right way to gear, that’s the very definition of “optimal”.
Funny ha ha or funny uh-oh?
Don’t ask me why they chose rares.
If you have rares at level 80 and go into AC you will be downscaled to level 35 in something that’s close to masterworks. However, if you go to AC with exotics you will be downscaled to level 35 in rares.
O rly? Care to put that on a test? Lets say Veteran giant in orr?
And that’s why you were called clueless.
ArenaNet needs to fix the combat log. Every time I actually want to know something, it’s useless because whatever just happened wasn’t logged. Then they can simply allow the combat log to be written to a file. No need to implement any in-game options. The log can then be parsed to make a DPS meter.
How are you going to calculate the effects of conditions?
Dem pvt warriors messing up our agro and causing the mob to run all over the place, fun stuff!
You gotta kite mobs, can’t facetank them like a boss.
Brazil, go back to school!
Well, I have an idea, what about to calculate the real dps, with a realistic build, I kinda doubt that with this build, Ele would be able to survive even the glance of an enemy
Glance doesn’t kill eles, a mere presence of enemy does.
Wind Blast will be usable on your allies who play badly to show them you don’t appreciate that.
Showing imbalance hurts the community. Community (crybabies) stops playing. Player base numbers falls, with it the sell of gems. Anet gets less money. You see the big picture here. Meters have nothing to do with players but with economics.
But it shows the problem. I’d rather have it fixed than ignored.
Who wants to play PUG roulette with me? It’s where we go and PUG an Arah path, and the LFG is not allowed to have any conditions, its simply an LFG post. The winner is whoever spends the most time waiting for the condition necro to survive a skip.
I’d be happy to participate in that. But I’d say the winner should be the person who loses the most amount of hair. Obviously someone needs to record it and put here so we all can have decent fun.
All gear should be stripped out of stats. Everyone is happy, you don’t have to grind again if you want to swap a build, just pay 3.5s. There are no cons, just like in gw1.
The biggest reason for skipping at the time though was that you couldn’t trust the PuGs to be able to handle trash. They ate every big hit and died and complained about how much it hurt to be jumped on/mobs. Watching baddies die to trash isn’t my idea of fun especially when they are pvt/cleric baddies and you being zerker, having to rez them just feels soooooooo wrong.
I heard that bads rez poor zerkers.
True. If even one meter of any sort would exist, then there would be a bunch of cry babies crying how their dps is lower then others with the same gear as they have.
Why is showing imbalance a bad thing?
First of all, the problem is a real one if the forums are to be believed. There have been far too many posts about it. If the game is structured so that berserker gear is the only logical/reasonable choice, that’s a problem with the game. I merely suggested a possible solution.
It would allow players soloing to run around in whatever they want, but wouldn’t allow the stacking of berserkers on a boss, thus trivializing it.
Since then, other people have suggested other things that would work including damage reflection…but it would have to be more than just a small percentage. The damage reflection would have to be serious enough to do possibly cause a wipe (or the problem will remain).
It is logical to pick berseker’s gear if you are good enough to handle it. Problem is that being good enough in this faceroll game is that being just mediocre is enough, thus creating an illusion that every average player should be running with that gear. Content is a problem, not a gear. Fix/revamp content and most of faceroll zerkers disappear. Fix zerker and everyone will switch to assassin.
Stacking with berserer’s gear doesn’t trivialize content, try doing something harder than cof1 or living story, then try to figure out how you can fix this.
A dev stated it looonnnggg ago, I’m not going to go through all of their old posts to link it lol. If anyone happens to have it saved and comes across this, please link it.
(I’m sure fractals are an exception to this though… they weren’t in the game at that time.)
Funny, because scaling works in such way that exotics are supposed to be used from level 60. Rares are for AC, CM and TA while exotics for the rest.
If someone could enlighten me on how I died here I would be grateful.. am I missing something?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gk-RngrdYac
It appears you don’t have offhand training and 2 projectiles that hit outside Whirling Defense area struck you with their aoe splash.
But… it’s scaled for rares… why would you need ascended for a dungeon?
Where does it say so?
Yeah but it’s the LH ele doing the blasting so the combo of the 2 doesn’t have the fury uptime. Talkin bout synergy.
It is but staff build uses that trait to increase dps while hammer build would use it to get fury. It’s needed for both builds.
Reasonable? You loose total track of our conversation? You called me out on TA aetherblade boss, said 15s etc. I’m talking about the difficulty with warrior vs. guard vs. whatever, hard content etc etc etc. I gave three content examples, you called out my TA aetherblade path and said like pfff 15 seconds! Then you use a random kitten (as in little kitty) video to make some point… nothing of which to the actual conversation. And you believe you are being “reasonable”? Yes, I lack “something” here, a two way conversation lol
Moving on now heh
I said you can kill most of the dungeon bosses, including new ta path in 15s without using just warriors with mesmer and guardian. I see it’s a hard concept to grasp.
Do some harder content than world bosses or cof1 and say again that cc and support don’t matter at all.
We already have friendly fire. Play content and you’ll notice that.
bah you’re BS’ing me hah. Do you even know what the TA eatherblade path is? Hey why not post video of a group of guards taking down a kitten (as in little kitty) in 15s to make your point? hehehe
I tried to be reasonable but it seems you lack something.
-the only higher dmg dealer for a teq fight above a pvt guardian is a ele who pops conjured weapons and if the guardian picks up the conjured weapon to, then the guardian outdps the ele by far. (guardian have damage increase of 20%on aegis 10% on scepter 10% on foe who has condition, all this on a weapon who cast 1 auto atack and an instant 15 hit that does 6+ times the auto atack )
First of all, scepter damage trait doesn’t work if you pick a bundle. Secondly, ele has more +% dmg traits.
I feel like instead of comparing LH ele to fire staff ele we should stick LH ele in fire staff ele’s lava font… it’s too bad that fury trait is on the wrong one tho.
It’s not just fury trait, lava font gains additional tick.
Bug Kaisar then.
Ha, I bet you had to check who I am talking about.
Nobel prize to Kodiak!
Maybe I overreacted a bit with those bugs, but seriously killing final boss in 13s or this boss being soloable (indepened of how skilled the player is) is not what I expect from good designed game. This boss should be v. hard for 5 ppl, 4 pll party will need to have godlike skill players (like 3-4 yeras experience) to kill it.
The former is a speedkill, designed theoretically and executed practically while using optimized rotations, both ours and lupi’s. Even if you are stubborn enough to say it’s been achieved with fgs, we still have killed him in 21 seconds without that. Speedkills like that doesn’t happen often though.
For the latter, Wethospu spent about 50 hours on practicing just to solo him in 15 minutes. The game evolves and players get better or simply knowledge gets passed down. When first solos were achieved most of the players were still having problems with him and I’m sure they were branding themselves as experienced. Forums usually are for minority that often is much more skilled at a game. Soloing lupi was done by probably less than 60 people. To add more, lupi is considered as the best designed boss in gw2 and the only reason those solos started to appear was that one person was determined enough to accomplish that.
I’m sure that after 3 years full parties will still have problems with him.
Yes the person who figures out a way to do things efficiently is way dumber than the guy who either can’t or doesn’t.
And that’s what we call logic.
