When I remake the gwscr leaderboard, I had every intention to make the rule that the timer starts when the first NPC is interacted with. Timer ends the first frame that the golden chest with your reward appears.
This means that first dumb gate in CoE/CoF, ogden in Arah, the pre-path select interaction in SE, the guy before the graveling in AC, etc etc.
I think this is better than path selection, because some dungeons path selection is after a reasonable amount of content.

add AI that tells mobs to go after the weakest of the group, basically a gear check. you fight a boss and if someone in your group has less than 1300 toughness or Vitality or both … the boss just attacks them. also let the boss drain endurance from the enemy they are agro’d on.
get these noobs out of their zerker gear by force … stop dumbing down the game.
Completely agree, noobs should not play with zerker gear.
There won’t be variance because there’s always meta.

What needs to be done is to change blocking system. Right now, if you block someone you cannot see his lfg ad but it doesn’t work in reverse which is really silly design. If I know certain person is a known griefer who joins parties just to kick instance owner I want him to be blocked from joining my party.
After running around Mad Kings Labyrinth for a 2nd season I had the realization of how insignificant my skill bar was. I was just pressing whatever wasn’t on cool down in some cases. Combat improvement would help GW2 be better. Allow the players to solve problems in different ways besides simply dealing damage exclusively
It happens when you zerg or just generally in open pve.
From time to time I wish too, that there was a bit more depth than just knowing when to dodge.
I hope at one point they can break the whole DPS meta for PvE (read everyone runs zerker gear).
I’m pretty sure most people in fact do not run zerker gear. But please, use more hyperboles, they bring much needed arguments into a discussion.

Variance should be achieved through traits, not gear. Regearing is already pain in the kitten .
It doesn’t matter what I want… the game was advertise as a role game, they mentioned 3 roles: DAMAGE, CONTROL and SUPPORT.
They made a game with 3 kind of stats: DAMAGE, TANK and HEALING. (This I still can’t understand)
So what I want? stats for support and control. Why? because I’d like to see roles for once in this so self called role playing game. If I wanted to be all the same I would’ve been playing Counter Strike or GTA online. Man even Counter Strike have more roles in their group for better team play.
All the team play you have in GW2 is,… time your CC to remove defiant,… ok now interrupt… woohoo!!! boss down in 1 min cause we are all zerklings. Oh yeah, I forgot… “here guys, fire field, blast your skills to get 25 mights, ok now burn him down”. Amazing team play and coordination. I felt so proud of my job there,… lucky I know how to play my class, whatever that is (its all the same).

Plus, killing boss in 10 minutes is how exactly better? You can try fotm at higher levels if you like meat bags.
To add last thing, I’m all for increasing CC and support in pve but it should be done through traiting not gear. We have enough of it already.
There are no stats for control so why did you even bring it? What would you want, 5s long stuns? There’s a reason why control stats do not exist and if you don’t see it I think you bought wrong game.
There are no definite roles and I always have few cc in the party. I agree unshakeable needs to be changed but cc against mobs is in good place.
So we can say the game is fine because at fractal lvl 79 control finally has an important role? Yes, it is a bad example. Please provide one that reflects the reality of the majority of the player base where roles (specialization into support or control) are needed/used and justified.

I dont like if people just say “that’s not hard content at all”. It has been said in this thread, that “pro gamer” are not the majority in the game. We running all paths in all instances and for us they are not so hard content anymore, but if we are only 4 in our group we like to take a newbie as the 5th one, because they make much less mistakes as most of the self-proclaimed pros.
This might be really bad example but let’s try it anyway. Four kitten golems in uncategorized fractal are a joke. You can burst them in seconds, even at 48. But at 79 they are much more resilient to that and you actually have to dodge (can’t use reflections against Scrufflebut). One of the way to deal with them is to use a lot of cc.
Good question, but i’m the wrong addressee. I said how it is in most of the cases if you join a high lvl fractale group. How ever, in my opinion all of the higer level fractals are extremly poor designed, without exception.
Putting tons of mobs that do more damage and have a bigger life-pool is not a good desing. it is not even a design. The only real difference between lower and higher level fractals can be expressed with the number of mobs you have to kill. No really new game mechnics, no new strategies. just more mobs.
I was talking about the boss encounter, not mobs. And most fractals do not get more mobs at higher levels, mostly dredge clown car do.
If they are all poorly designed why do you even play them? There’s no reward for that.
And one last thing, pugs usually do not communicate well. That doesn’t promote creativity of new strategies. CC can’t be used randomly in this game, you need a plan for that. Before 15th October patch you could coordinate and immoblize Shoggroth in Arah1 to completely deny his hiding. Fixed groups are more likely to figure out new tactic.

Most of the bosses are immune agains cc (defiant) and the mechanic of defiant is as broken as it could be.

I’v done FotM at lvl 67 allready, but you know well if you do high lvl fotm, that most of the times, groups avoid the Grawl fract at that high level)
Why would anyone would do high level fractals that do not reward you with anything if not for challenging himself. And if you do something for challenge and reroll because certain fractal is too hard or you glitch bosses (mossman for instance) it puzzles me to great extent. Especially when volconic fractal end fight is one of the best designed boss encounter.
What kind of CC you really need there?
You can use fear (necro and who else for mass fear ???) and you can use … what?
Stomp, Bolas, Line of Warding, Net Turrent, Slick Shoes, Point Blank Shot, Barrage, Muddy Terrain and and and … of course they are many many skills which do CC, but how many of them you can really yuse in a usefull manner on that place, when you need to break the Shaman’ss bubble and avoid him to reach one of the NPCs? All of the chill/immobi/slow effets are more or less useless at that point, beacuse the lava elmentals use for the root a range skill.You need two things: first of all: condition removal and maybe the blinding blades from guardian to pull some of them to you to dps them down. but condition removal is rarely CC.
I’d say you could use CC on the shaman’s bubble and focus on grubs. You just need to know which CC to use and how.

What’s wrong with joinin a PUG group? You can learn everything from a PUG group except for meleeing lupi . Most pug will range the boss

If full berseker implies only 35%-45% crit chance and 50% crit damage top, fully equipped on ascended,… not that many people would’ve followed this trend and condition damage would’ve been more on par with it… this should’ve been from the begining… imagine the nerd rage on the forums if they do something like this now.
(Before anyone says: “but no damage means longer dungeons and that is boring!” – if this would’ve been like that since day 1, we would’ve never become this spoiled).
Full exotic berserker gives 37% critical chance and 69% critical damage while full ascended gives 39% critical chance and 78% critical damage.

Warcraft was an RTS. WoW was that playstyle, but as an MMO.
Consider for a second, that you may have a very narrow perspective on this subject.
I’ve played all three roles and ended up being ‘the guy’ that finished off a boss or trash pack and rezed everyone else so we could move on. It feels good but that’s not confined to a particular role, it just happens.

Oh they do care. You think Lung Capacity was traded for Empower Allies at random? Ofcourse not. Empower Allies was moved consciously because Anet wanted to slow down total team dps at the high end of the spectrum after giving everyone a 5% boost with Ascended gear. They sold the change as a “buff to support builds” but it is plainly obvious that it was less a buff to support as it was a nerf to direct damage.
And to be further blunt, it wasn’t pvt bowbear rangers with one warrior using no banners in the party who brought EA that made EA a balance issue, it was people like us pushing pve dps to levels that Anet didn’t invision when they designed their dungeons.

Ahh, so you are thinking of mobas… Those came from MMOs, which used to be very competitive, as GW2 wishes to be.
Mobas, came from the WoW vanilla/TBC ‘BG’ pvp scene, as the game started falling apart. Some of it came from older RTS games too, it’s kind of a weird melding of the two genres.
I play dota2 a lot, I know what a carry means there; it’s not what I was meaning above. An MMO carry, is a player that takes a support role, that helps everyone progress the best that they can. It could be pushing a fresh damage dealer through stuff, a confused tank or even another healer that just needs some advice. Or, my favorite, healing a good player through impossible PvP situations, while tanking the other half of a team…
My only point: this game can be better! It’s not bad, it’s just a husk of what it could be imo. Old school MMO PvP > MOBAS, 100% It was way more fun, tactical, immersive and social.
First of all, mobas definitely didn’t come from mmos unless Warcraft 3 was an mmo. Secondly, mobas are not the only competitive games out there.

Vuln is irrelevant if talking about direct dmg only. Benefit from leaving it out would be the ability to buff without causing dmg to target while still getting precise results.
Like I said few times before, there’s no reason to test with vulnerability, sigils, potions or ranger spirit unless you want to check what given build can supply.
No class in MMO history, or even RPG history has carried more than healers. It’s why I love it, ‘helping’ is our thing I guess. You talk a big game and I don’t know you, so I can only take you at face value. But, you are now in the position of carrying if so. Are you here to carry and help now?
There are two different definition of “being carried”. First one is being dependant on someone because of silly mechanics designers put in place. Second term, widely used in
competitive play, means that in order to success you had to depend on someone else’s better gameplay.
This game rewards zerging and bursting down instanced PvE encounters before they get dangerous. That’s so shallow from a gameplay perspective. It hurts the social aspect of the game and is very exclusionary, far more than healers and tanks shunning the known bad dps on any particular server of any particular game. Which I know hurts, but that’s what causes the, “LF2M, tank healer PST!” thing. We know who you are, we avoid you if we see you’re in a questionable guild or after we have given you a chance and it was a wipefest. It’s human nature.
This is a very flat and blunt fact, from a very old school raider, healer mainly and part time dps BAMF: DPS are the 95 percentile in MMOs, good DPS are about 10% of that group, if even that. This game is 100% DPS classes.

You can try high level fractals, almost no boss can be burst down.

i love my hammer in all game modes. there are some vocal minority that hate the light field from the hammer AA (because they can’t blast might stacks) but don’t let them get to you.
