I think Scarlet is already under the Mad King’s influence. He broke her mind while she was “astral projecting” in that short story. She’s unknowingly already his servant, and her actions are all leading up to breaking the seal for him.

Hm, the Mad King’s son? Interesting. Can’t wait to do all the old stuff again and try the new stuff.

I’m sure somebody will double-cross somebody else. Pirates and Nightmare Court are not trustworthy people. “You have outlived your usefulness” is a common motto for such groups.

Anyway, fun story. I got a kick out of an Asura in a Molten Alliance battlesuit. Naming her Sparki was icing.

I surmise that this choice was a balance. It updates TA in such a way as to leave the existing paths in place. One complaint some folks had about the new Teq is it remove the old Teq from the game. Now we get new TA stuff while we keep the old.

If it means more Tara Strong voice work, I welcome Scarlet’s return!

There are updates for Oct 15th and 29th, both before Halloween. I imagine both will be Mad King/Halloween-related.

Why does WoodenPotatos feel the need to constantly make overly long videos? If you can’t sum up what you like, what you don’t like, and what you feel needs to be changed about Tequatl in about 5 minutes, your opinion isn’t worth listening to.

It’s an in-depth review of the content, provided insights into -why- things about Teq are good, bad or ugly. It requires time to actually discuss these features. A 5-minute summation (“I like this, I hate this, goodbye.”) would be dull and pointless.

Funny how Teq is harder than Zhaitan. The Elder Dragon of Death was defeated by just five players.

It very much would. I don’t need or want to be alerted to every achievement and event completed by my guildmates. The spam would be maddening.

And so few people complete Legendaries, such a mechanic would be a waste of dev time.

It’s not “thousands of players asking for GvG,” it’s a handful of people spamming the chat over and over again. The same names keep scrolling by, spamming the same copy-pasted stuff.

It’s like they think they can trick Anet into thinking they’re a larger faction than they are. It’s kind of sad. Or would be, if it weren’t so annoying. They’re not doing their cause any favors there.

I like the specialization of the groupings you can make. They had listings for all sorts of objectives in the event. And some oddball sounding ones.

Well, the second group faired better, but still failed. Let’s see if the third group can beat this.

There appeared to be a whole mess of achievements for that update. I’d be honestly surprised if they were all focused on one group event.

It’s something similar to zerging except players in that zerg can’t suck. Basically they’re trying to make large scale content challenging. Yes, Tequatl is a damage sponge but he also has abilities that will kill you if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Yeah its strong and can kill you but this is not the type of challenge players want! We want large scale INSTANCED content that you can do with your guild/group of players and when you fail you stop and think “ok what went wrong and what can we do to get better?”. This open world stuff? You cant coordinate with all the trolls/bad players/afkers for loot…

If it were mindlessly zergable they would have beaten it. They only reason they got as far as they did is the devs cheated to get them to the second stage.

Accusation of misogyny aside, that claim is easily invalidated just by saying the word “Trahearne”.

Actually, there was some misogyny going on during Cutthroat Politics. Accusations of people only supporting Kiel because she has female assets. So it is not unheard of.

How would this particular lore story be included in game? This is all prelude info to the current story. The only ones besides Scarlet herself that would know anything about this (Omedd and Teyo) are dead.

The only possiblility I see is something involving the Pale Tree.

While a somewhat interesting read, this once again begs the question of why it couldn’t be found in-game.

The simplest answer is development time, I think. Short stories on the website are the quickest and easiest and cheapest way to get that lore out there.

I would guess it also makes sure we can access that lore outside the game, rather than putting it into a one-time quest we won’t get to replay.

Honestly, there are far more posts praising Scarlet that boil down to “I like her” with no other details (the most commonly cited reason for liking her from what I’ve read is the voice acting). Most of the posts criticising her as a character can not be fairly summarised as “Scarlet stinks”.

Most posts criticizing her tend to prematurely assume that what we’ve seen so far is all there is to her. It’s easier to jump to the conclusion that Scarlet is badly written than to give the character a chance to develop. The Living Story is a vehicle that can do just that, if Anet takes the opportunity and if the player base has a little patience for story pacing.

So the negative feedback does boil down to “Scarlet stinks,” with the addendum of “because we don’t know 100% of everything about her in the first five minutes.”

Whatever you do, do NOT ask about Nightarch’s green thumb.

If Scarlet has seen the Eternal Alchemy (or at least think she has) it explains a lot of her psychosis. If you believe you’ve seen the “shape of the universe” or the “face of god” or whatever you might want to call it, it affects you very deeply. Think of how astronauts often seem to gain new perspective from seeing the Earth from the outside.

Scarlet acts this way because, as far as she’s concerned, none of it matters. The so-called strength of Kryta and human courage? Meaningless. Whether you win a zone invasion? Pointless. If she wins a zone invasion? Whatever. She even calls -you- insignificant during the playhouse instance.

Scarlet went off the deep end because she truly believes nothing we puny little specks do makes the slightest bit of difference and now she’s trying to show this truth to everyone. The Eternal Alchemy carries on regardless. So let’s have fun instead!

You have to complete all the achievements for Vorrp (5 of them), in order to create a portal you can use to enter the “playhouse.”

It’s funny how people assume we’ll know everything about the villain in the first chapter, and when we naturally don’t, they call it weak writing. Some people have no patience for storytelling.
