once trahearne gets his super OP greatsword, he becomes a psuedo mesmer/necro/ele/guard. i don’t think i’ve seen him use any warrior skills through my 2 playthroughs yet…
i will refute. i’ve done orr to 100% in all 3 zones on 2 characters solo.
it is completely soloable, while a dungeon is scaled to 5 players no matter how many are in there. your analogy is flawed.
and as previously stated, devona’s rest is devoid of players end game. in fact, it’s got one of the lowest player pop for the NA servers

in that case i think/hope that current completion will stay the same. i’m at 83% myself as of this post.
i really can’t see the devs doing something like changing the base completion achievement. it would kitten off many players who are above 50% right now.
new zone completion rewards sound like the way to go…

the way i see it working out for xpac is only the new areas give a new completion bonus similar to zone completion, without affecting the OG vanilla gw2

trying to solo 100% orr is pretty dangerous on my server. there is virtually no one on so party play out of the question. it took me 2 hours to get 1 skill challenge down. and i didn’t even do it correctly. i had to use knockback and immobilize + swiftness to reach and commune before the vet mob and his 2 adds could get to me and interrupt. this of course is in addition to the corrupted statue firing poison and cripple into the water.
28 and(practically married) with 2 boys. still find time to fully immerse myself and enjoy it! loving every moment!!!
you can start crafting whenever, however you can’t use any of the things you craft until lvl 10. no in-game tutorial that i remember, but it’s not that difficult to learn.
2. the effect can proc on the weapon the sigil is not inserted into.
don’t use rage on both daggers, as the chance is multiplicative, not additive..
what level are you? the heavy karma set in straits is unique IMO and it costs 4-5k i THINK if you only buy the blues to transmute. that’s what i did on my warrior and i am very happy. although i think the leggings look funky on females, so i went with draconic leggings instead(the scales don’t mesh well with the scales from the karma set, but ho hum….)
if you’re a male, then it’s a non issue.
the thing is they need the fine xmutation stones(if you’re level 80), so that’s the only REAL cost here. if you’re using a GS, then go to lion’s arch and buy the cultural lion’s guard sword and it looks fantastic and quite polished.

couple more things…
on my main, i have jeweler and armorsmith both at 400. i leveled them both up in respect to my level so i always had new gear every 5-10 levels. this takes about an extra hour of playing to farm the mats needed. not sure if it’s for everyone, because an hour is a lot of play time spent on farming mats(this changes as you get to 80; no more need to ‘farm’ mats as they will naturally be found while playing the end game areas). i got an extra 20 levels as a result. i wish i didn’t, as i enjoy the leveling process from exploring/questing.
on my alt i have weaponsmith at 400. i used the craft once i reached 70 to get the last 10 levels out of the way(experienced much of the game already by then)
i’ve had the opposite experience with crafting. now having taken 3 crafts to 400, i am seeing the coin roll in. as in 2g at the end of my playing session for the day. this is in addition to the de chains i did(coincidentally ‘farming’ my mats) earning me about 1g per 2 hours of play. i don’t do the holy trinity of orr like many players do, either. otherwise i’d be earning close to 1.5g/hr.
what i can agree with is that crafting under 275 will get you nothing in profit. just salv your crafted items and save them for later. once you start making rares/exotics then you can see the profit margin increase

i want an old school fishbowl helmet. the rebreather thing is too modern for me(although looking like subzero is pretty neat)
i think the name ‘commando’ is out of gw2’s diction. the word is….anachronistic is not the right word, but the closest i can get to it(engineers and charzooka would be as well, but they are in game).
the commando would probably be a mix of engineer, ranger and warrior.
here’s hoping a 3rd soldier class is coming in a future xpac(tengu samurai/dragoon???)
it was an april fool’s joke
so i’ve been playing through my PS on my main and have been enjoying it and the rewards for a month now. i never once asked for help on any of the quests and found the difficulty more or less to be adequate. some deaths and a few rare loots later, i find myself at the final quest: victory or death.
now here is where i am confused. the whole time i’m completing this ‘personal story,’ i play it solo, which i think was the developer’s intent.
now not only am i forced into a party to complete a dungeon(how is this ‘personal? how is this soloable?) and on top of that, the gates to arah won’t even open until a group of 20-30 people follow a de chain to allow me to complete the personal story?
like some of the player base, i have obligations that don’t allow me to play for a solid 3-5 hours at a time, especially during the day. my peak gaming time only happens after 9pm. that being said, there is virtually no one in cursed shore after the afternoon, even on a weekend. no one is following the de chain to open the gates. i can’t complete the personal story. i’m not even after the loot. i just want to finish what i started and am unable to for TWO reasons, which i believe anet did not prepare me for.
1- forced group content after 79 levels of solo content.
2- forced 20-30 content just to open arah for further group content after 79 levels of solo content.
am i missing something here? i don’t think i’ll ever complete my personal story(been waiting every night for the past 2 weeks for arah to open…let alone find a party willing to do arah story).
i’m in the minority of posters here, but i love orr. the backstory and the landscape is supposed to be depressing and anet delivered. the mob density is perfect for farming mats/rares. i go solo always and i never have issues with dying(unless i fell). usually, i make about 4-5s/hr so money is good just from selling scraps.
malchor and cursed shore are both 100% for me so i’m working on straits next. sad to be leaving orr…
i don’t think anyone has tried this yet since the latest build was uploaded. i would love to know as well
i will also confirm this skill challenge is not working. 98% in malchor…come on….
I must be in the minority when I say I rather enjoy Orr. it has the right balance of challenge vs reward, at least for me. i am able to leash 4-7 risen and take them on at the same time using the active dodge and weapon swap mechanics. this is and the dungeons is where player reaction speed, timing and prediction all culminate in combat harmony. likewise I am able to avoid certain mobs using LOS and terrain to my advantage using certain skills. you can make a ton of coin in 10m WITHOUT zerging de’s…in fact I avoid them because it takes away from the feeling that this end game is supposed to be difficult. for those claiming this area is too tough, it’s end game…I believe the devs have it right in terms of difficulty.
for those saying this area is monotonous…I wonder if those players are zerging de’s. get out and explore this ugly area. it’s supposed to be ugly, which I think succeeds in it’s aesthetic. if this place is supposed to be ugly, it is beautifully so.
get your 70+ yellows and salv for ectos, mine ori, harvest omnom for bars to increase coin drops, sell those stacks of 50+ leather straps for a ton of coin….this area is ideally designed for end game.
special mention goes to the god events, of which lyssa is my favorite because of the level of coordination needed between parties to complete it.

sooooo….you don’t want right hand strength? making a crit/tough guardian is pretty viable to me in comparison to the cookie cutter tough/heal gs guard.

my guard melees bosses just fine. of course i have a great group backing me to help me if i get downed.
my choice to play a pure melee, but that’s the fun in it.
so some kind soul just relayed some info about going to the heart of mists and then taking the asura gate to lion’s arch and then another to the black citadel.
thank you for that information, however, if it weren’t for the community member who helped, i feel like this is a tip not advertised to the rest of the player base in-game. meaning it will be a money sink using WP unless someone tells you, ‘hey you can go to pvp, then go to any town for free’
this of course only works for cities. if the quest marker is in a place without asura gate access, yet the marker tells you to take one you can’t access, it’s time wasted and coin burned trying to backtrack

so….i just walked all the way down to fort trinity because my lvl66 quest(fixing the blame) has a marker there and since i was closer to that area than the black citadel, i decided to take the asura gate. to my dismay i found out i could not use the asura gate, as and i quote ‘access to the pact asura gates is restricted to high ranking members.’
last i checked in the personal story you are the second in command. that makes the asura gates the marshall’s plaything, as apparently i do not qualify as a high ranking member though i am #2.
so now i have to pony up the 3.2s to WP to black citadel to save myself another hour of walking(some people have lives and have to budget their time with school, work, family, all 3 apply to me).
the same could be said of the quest shell shock when i walked to vigil’s keep to follow the green quest marker, only to find out i could not access that asura gate neither. so i spent the 2.5s to WP to sootberme.
please fix this so people are not misled….i’m more than slightly annoyed. remove the asura gate quest markers and instead move them to the exit/entrance of instances…so we know we are going in the right direction.
Added a system to limit the experience and gold that players can receive from speed-farming dungeons.

yep…so i was saving 8.88g for a full set of vigil armor because i like the skin and all the attributes are in line with my build.
my most viable choice now is to ditch that(one of the biggest draws is customization, as it persists throughout ALL modes of the game) and settle for another set of rinky dink armor someone else or i can craft with desirable attributes. the look will be horrid since i can’t bekittento buy(i refuse) gems to buy fine xmutation stones(doesn’t even begin to address how i’m going to find another decent looking set that won’t break the bank).
oh boy. time to deposit what little coin i have and walk everywhere(maybe their intent in the first place?) because WP’s are burning a whole in my coin sack?
ok so i’m walking to maelstrom. my guess is the asura gate won’t open until later on in the story. sorry for the mess!
guessing i’m pretty dumb here, but i can’t for the life of me find out how to get to the asura gate at vigil’s keep to continue my 64 story q. the asura gate guard says i can’t enter and the green q marker is showing up right on the gate?
