No, some of our more casual players and some of our transfers haven’t gotten into the swing of how we do things yet.

Most of us are upset that you gamed the system last week, but at this point it’s more a matter of not wanting to deal with how tedious playing against you has become than it is any sort of malice.

It’s a different story with a second server our size or larger in the mix as it gives us more options, but when it’s basically two servers with comparatively no presence — and the bigger server mocking us on the forum — then it just isn’t fun.

Look, understand that I don’t mind losing when we’re outnumbered. That isn’t the problem, and you’ll note that the majority of folks on TC didn’t complain against BG. The problem is the attitude we’re being given by an ungracious winner. You’re training on us? You’re begging us to come out so we can train your recruits? Do you not see how that is insulting? People bragging about a scoreboard is fine because at least that’s something we all expect to see and something we know is going to happen. This nonsense SoR has been posting isn’t fine.

If you guys were being cool about it then we’d probably have no problem. It really boils down to that. You should be ashamed of yourselves for treating us this way. It has nothing to do with it being a game and everything to do with being decent people. You were decent people until you were in power — what happened to you guys?

It’s just too much effort to care too much about anything this week when we have to deal with this sort of nonsense. We’re still going to play but don’t expect us to put up with your crap.

Training on TC with our recruits? Quote me a post where one of our guild leaders said this. We did say that we need to get used to all the mass influx, getting to know each other and getting ready for our first step into T1, and we need a bit more time for that. I don’t see how that is insulting.

Yeah, that last bit was snarky because the defense always comes out to be “Well ele/thief players are just amazing gamers and other classes are played by lethargic amoebas and that’s why they don’t have these vids”.

Elementalists don’t have ‘elevated capability’. They perform average on all parts of the game (DPS, conditions, Mobility, CC). They actually don’t excel in one particular aspect. That is what the profession is about. Thieves are the best for burst damage. Rangers are the best ranged DPS, and point holding. Guardians are outright the best bunkers. Warriors are mobile, have high melee DPS and high armour and HP. Necromancers spread and apply conditions like crazy. Engineers are one of the best, if not best profession for sieges. Mesmer’s utilities are the best for WvW. See, before this bunker ele build came out, elementalists were usually free kills for anyone. Now that someone came up with a build that is very tanky with high healing, elementalists are not what it used to be, and because they are unkillable when you try to instagib them like before, no counter-builds were made popular (although many are known for tPvP players).

Elementalists are good, yes, but so are many other professions. Obvious attacks and their most damaging spells being cast for a very long time are their downfalls. Immobilise also screws them up. How is it hard to see their weaknesses?

I know you love your ele, hell I love MY ele and the 1vGroup capabilities highlighted in the videos are one of the main reasons I rolled one. Same with thief. The same potential is NOT present on the warrior so I am going to believe that you’re just in denial, or defensive as if we’re asking for ele nerfs. I know some people are, I’m not however. I am simply stating the truth, backed by video evidence in abundance about the capabilities between certain classes as it concerns the OPs question.

If you really think you can pull of the same feats on a warrior then I would like to challenge you, or any of your pro warriors to do so and provide the community the videos of it so we can all learn what everyone is doing wrong. To have the same potential a warrior will need the regen of a full regen build, the control of a hammer build, the movement of a GS+Sword/Warhorn build, the condi removal of a shout+soldier rune+traited warhorn+signet of stamina+runes of lyssa build and the aoe of a longbow.

If you figure out how to squeeze all that into one build then yes the warrior will have the same tools necessary to provide the same performance seen in the videos above.

Then with a necro please.

Maybe guardian as well since the only vids I see for them are 1v1’s or frontlining in a zerg.

All I’m pointing out is that regardless profession or build, it is the player’s skill that actually matters when you’re facing multiple opponents. Believe me I roam all the time in WvW and I face many, many D/D eles who watched videos on youtube and think they can stomp people easily. Obviously enough, it is them that gets their face smashed by my S/D ele or my condition necro if I happen to be on it. Then sometimes I face extremely skilled D/D eles that I have no chance dealing with, even when I have 3 allies with me. Same thing would happen to be with a very good perma stealth thief or a guardian.

Some professions do excel at some parts that others lack on, but class balance is very stable at the moment and whenever a very skilled player uploads a youtube video killing 5 people, forums start crying about it and Anet goes in for the knee-jerk balancing.

Anet themselves said that Eles are the ‘king of versatility’. So it is intended that eles can do little bit of this and little bit of that. Good players use this well and put out amazing skill, while others cannot.

Warriors are also more forgiving than eles, which means they can take a few hits and not screw up, while as a D/D ele, one wrong attunement you will be spiked down in a few seconds in the front line. Same thing with guardians.

I believe every profession has the ‘tools’ to survive 1vmany battles. Unlike what you think, warriors built correctly on a skilled hand can take on a few players at once. Melee rangers can. Guardians can easily do it. Engineers are a bit tricky but still can do it. Any decent mesmers can handle it.

It has everything to do with who is skilled and who is not. Bad D/D eles will melt in seconds to glass cannon thieves or rifle engineers. Good ones will run rampage everywhere, and to be honest, anything experienced with a profession will rampage the fields with any profession, whether he/she is a D/D ele, thief, engineer or staff ele.

I see bunker D/D eles in WvW as much as glass cannon thieves nowadays, but most are incapable of doing what you have linked to me, which is all I am saying.

Staff eles are extremely OP as well, so is the engineer and the thief in this video, right?

I mean, there’s an obvious HUGE disparity between the survivability, mobility and self sustainability in class options going on here that allows certain classes the ability to dive into these 1vGroup situations and lay down havoc while not only surviving the counter-attack but winning the situation.

• Winning doesn’t mean spiking EVERY player, but surviving the encounter with some kills and GETTING OUT OF DODGE SUCCESSFULLY in order to /laugh, /dance at the fate of that group getting face-smashed by one insane class.

You linked dapheonx’s video, just as expected. She/he is one of the best WvW roaming elementalists I have ever seen. Trust me, I call myself an experienced ele, but 99% of D/D eles won’t be able to do that sort of thing.

Also. Do you really think those D/Ds roam around and win every single enounter they face? Flat out no. It takes around a week of footage to pick out the good fights you had and make a montage video like you linked. I saw a level 15 guardian roaming around in healing spec and killing level 80s 1v3. I know a friend in BG who dueled half the map in SoR and won every single on of them, coming out at full health every time. Then I know this other guildie who plays an engy, who melted said guardian in less than 5 seconds. See, there are good players here and there who can do crazy stuff, but that, in no way means that all D/Ds can do that.

Also, we don’t win 1v5-8 battles, that is stupid. We run away from those kind of situations, pick up 2-3 underleveled, undergeared and unskilled idiots who follow me. 2-3 lowbies are easy to handle for any skilled profession. Then we dash back to the remaining 4-5, then we bait another 2 out. Kill them. Rince and repeat.

As long as you’re skilled in a profession, you’re the strongest. Many youtube videos featuring engineer, rangers and necromancers which are so-called ‘lackluster’ ‘underpowered’ dominating the WvW scene.

You seem to be confusing this build being over powered with me wanting to remove elementalists only “viable” build.

This build is not “on par” with anything, it sets the standard that nothing else reaches.

I understand that outside of this build, ele’s are somewhat of a joke, that does not, in any way, shape, or form, make this build any less over powered.

Its like saying class X has 2 builds that are viable, class Y has 1.
Class Y build should be twice as good to compete with class X.

But it’s not overpowered. There are serveral strong counters against your ‘meta’ bunker ele build. To name a few, trap rangers and S/D thieves. Any half-experienced s/tPvP player would know this, and this thing is not invincible as you and many other crying people here. If you just arrived from PvE with your pistolwhip thief and expect to melt bunker eles just like that, it certainly does not work.

Us bunker ele players who enjoy this style of gameplay where we can actually take damage and slowly wear enemies down, we’ll move onto other bunker builds if ele gets nerfed to the ground, such as bunker engy or guardians. Then we’ll have people crying about them as well.

Sorry but anyone arguing that the current meta D/D ele is anything short of over powered (to say the least) is dreaming.

No class should have the damage, survivablitiy, the healing, the mobility, the boon stacking and condition removal they have.

Try using other skills than heartseeker. Or autoattack.

I’ve been playing a bunker S/D ele for about 3 days. I played all the ‘lackluster’ professions that the forums talk about (engy, necro, ranger) for about 300 hours each in both sPvP, tPvP and WvW. They are nowhere near being underpowered. People running glass cannon builds expect bunker eles to die in 3 heartseekers.

Ele’s damage can be mitigated really easily, very obvious animations and long cast times, easy to interrupt. I really don’t see a problem with bunker eles, as they can be countered quite easily by thinking for 10 minutes and creating a counter build.

People really don’t want to use their brains when they come to games.

Hi. I’ve been running S/D ele bunker build in WvW for a few days now, doing pretty well, and I’m fairly surprised by the amount of potential this class has when played with an experienced PvP player.

However, I would like to try out different rune options for my build. Currently I’m running 2 water, 2 monk and 2 dwayna runes for buff duration, regen duration and healing power. I would love to know other similiarly specced S/D ele’s rune choices.

Eh I use healing power % things anyway, still doing fairly well in WvW.

But I do think it was an oversight on Anet’s part with all these ridiculous food buffs and buffs (skale venom, golem in a box)

Unkillable with my S/D spec

I run a full bunker S/D in WvW. It’s harder to use than D/D, lower damage and of course, higher skill ceiling (thus lower number of users). If played correctly, it is more powerful than D/D.

S/D has 2 blinds, burst heal and armour booster, as well as more dodges and more condition options.

I’m not really good at explaining how to play, so I’m just going to list my gear here, and what I do in WvW.

Full clerics armour with 2 water, monk and dwayna runes.
Full clerics trinkets with clerics jewels and P/V/T ascended backpack
Clerics Sceptre with Energy sigil
Clerics dagger with life sigil

I can charge into 20+ man enemy zergs, do some epic stuff, and while they focus on me and other tanks in my guild, glass cannons take them out at the back. I usually come out full health.

Sceptre can be really fun and powerful if played correctly, and is employed by a lot of top tPvP teams. Hope you have fun with it ;]

I think you’d be replacing the Knight’s accessories mentioned above for Cleric’s if you’re planning on going full bunker instead of a balanced approach although the higher crit. chance is great if you’re running life on crit. sigil and food like Omnomberry Ghost.

I find that with all cleric’s accessories you don’t hit as hard.

You’re missing the point of a ‘bunker’. They’re supposed to do very little damage while maximising thier survivability. Clerics gear does exactly that, while knights is a balanced approach with crit and armour.

Bunkers are suppoed to hold a point as long as they can in sPvP, or taking hits and charging into enemy front lines in WvW.

Why not both?

OP I’d switch to another one for now. I’m not logging in until they fix this class and restore loot personally but you go ahead and switch to another class as you can see by my signature there’s one in the game that seems to be immune to nerfs entirely.

As far as necros go. Even as bunker builds necros work so much better then engineer. In one of my posts about why the sister adventure classes do so much more initial damage then the engineer does even tho they are leather wearers as well, I go over the fact that there is a non-tooltipped effect when using the condition abilities on Ranger and Necro that the engineer doesn’t get. There’s an initial burst of damage before the condition damage begins. Try it out, record side by side the damage of the attacks that apply conditions and you’ll see what I’m saying. I don’t have recording but I wrote down the differences between my all condi engi and all traps/bleeds ranger and the difference is just sickening.

If you want to bunker, you don’t want to do it with a necro. Only stability being accesible by 180 CD elite? 2 1second fears and 1 short range knockbacks…

Necros are supposed to stay at the back, apply a crapton of conditions to enemies in team fights.

Have you considered taking the duels into sPvP? Not only would it be easier and cheaper to try out builds, but you wouldn’t suffer repair costs, interruptions from 3rd parties, or occupy a slot in WvW that someone interested in WvW may appreciate.

Plus, you’d get to duel people in any tier and this could pick up a decent following.

Playing in WvW gear and sPvP gear are entirely different. In fact, dueling in sPvP you have a lot more ‘3rd party’ interruptions than an isolated corner in WvW. Also in T2 I haven’t been in a queue for a long time except for reset nights.

What the hell are you even doing in WvW? What kind of server are you in? Join a decent WvW guild, get on VOIP, coorinate and capture objectives, defend it.

All your points are flawed, since it is very subjective and have no relevance to most serious WvW players. Defending is fun as much as capturing, one well-placed siege can shut down the whole enemy assult. WvW is not about 1v1 combat, and from what I see on your writing you seem like a very underskilled player as well. Mobility and escape skills are very important in WvW such as blink, rush stealth or stun breakers.

Learn WvW and try again.

Yes, there are certain D/D builds that are very OP at the moment, but without doubt their heals will be nerfed.

To the people that are saying this requires a significant amount of skill, you are either click casting or have little to no experience in PvP.

The people who they call you out like that are most likely the people who spend literally hundreds of gold and badges to upgrade towers, camps and keeps when nobody else does, drops siege without a second thought, and spends countless hours in WvW. If they see you selling siege in team/map chat, obviously they would think you’re not contributing, since they already use hundreds, if not thousands of gold pouring into WvW.
