Actually necros are essential in an organised WvW group for their group blinds. If you don’t like it though you can try a thief for solo roaming, or guard/war for groups.
#2. It is wrong to hard to include hard to kill and mobile if you have an ele commander. In order for that to occur, they have to be dagger/dagger and a dagger/dagger ele is actually too mobile to be a good commander because mobility is a requirement to stay alive. The last thing you want is a commander that is always running out of the fight and bouncing around. A staff ele running P/V/T gear would work, but they lack survivability still due to lack of mobility while not hitting very hard. Sorry bud, I think you are wrong about this one.
#1. You are also completely wrong about this one. Mesmers can both be portal providers and leaders, if you want them to be effective leaders that is. Mesmers have to leave the zerg, sneak into position, and risk death in order to drop a portal. The last thing you want is a commander that dies trying to get a portal in place (heck the tag itself can make it harder for the mesmer to get into position anyways).
Sounds like you are lacking in some real WvW experience to be honest. Perhaps get out there a little more and see if your perspective changes.
D/D eles are very good commanders, you are completely wrong on this. I can run around INSIDE enemy zerg for a good 20 seconds without having to congregate with my forces to heal up. But by the time where I have to heal up my units would have pushed through and wiped enemy zerg.
Other good professions for commanders are necros, guardians and warriors.
I don’t lack in real WvW experiences so you can’t pull that card out.
…How the hell did JQ not get garrison in that fight? As a commander I really don’t understand, we were ready to lose the keep, have a coffee and wait for you guys to go to another map or something.
Fight at hills this evening was great 3 way. Although I played at 5-10 FPS the whole battle around lord room, which is horrible for a front-line guardian tank… -.-
As a SoR oceanic I’m looking forward to see our oceanics back to the scene from tonight, and hopefully see JQ/SoS’s nightcrews coming out to play with us!

Pretty much every SoR forum warrior is in CDS. People call Indo a troll but I think thats just some past history in another game. I’ve always found him to be intelligent and insightful.

I dont run zerkers at all. well other than one earring. I run knights chest/helm/legs, soldiers gloves/shoulders/boots, Trinkets are valk amulet, 2x knights rings, karka shell, and zerker earring. I still have 2885 armor, and 2 forms of healing (meditation healing and omnomberry pie). I am actually very durable while still being able to damage, and decent damage at that. just because I can’t burst like a warrior doesn’t mean my 1.6-2k sword auto attacks don’t hurt like hell.

The thing is- guardians fill a role of support, tank and control a lot better than other professions such as warriors or thieves. No matter how you build your guardian to do more DPS, other professions will always outshine you in terms of DPS when they build their class appropriately.
To me, this seems more like a PvE build where you can just faceroll everything.
See I don’t run into that at all, normally the heavy bunker guardian in my guild roams with me because of the damage I can do. Also I really disagree on the control part. we lack ALOT of control, mostly because Wards are pretty broken and need to be fixed. and our control utilities are very lack luster, (spirit hammer is useless now, bane signet is good, signet of wrath has a horrible passive) outside of that we have almost zero control.
As far as other classes’ dps builds I cant really say much. I think the issue is that most people compare guardian damage to warrior and the fact is that most guardians dont go glass cannon like a warrior. I know my damage range is 6k+ on ZD and 5-6k on WW but I really do not know what a warrior’s would be using the same gear as me, and if it would really be higher or not.
If your bunkers run with you because you do DPS, wouldn’t it be wiser for you to run other professions that can do more damage with zerker armour? What kind of edge do you have over other DPS professions? You have low HP and very bad escapes, and you have to compensate that with some kind of defensive stats.
I completely agree with Chris. I roam in WvW everyday, and during the time I played my thief, mesmer, necro, ele or guardian, I was never afraid of losing against a warrior roamer, and I really never have, unless the warrior had friends coming along.
Even ignoring our superior offensive stats.
Dps guards can get more than 25% burst just from zeal and radiance traits alone over balance guards without points in Zeal and Radiance. Not taking into account our blind vulnerability procs with leap of faith and Voj procs. I also charge up with staff 4 and pop save yourselves before i go in.
So realistically we dont do the same dps
And here are the stats of a true glass cannon guardian hitting you in WvW
complete with staff 4 buff, save yourselves, sigils, food and oil
Most people just roll over and die in face of 3800 attack, 96%crit chance and 107%crit damage
This is WvW we’re talking about. With zero healing power, 10k hp and 2.3k armour you will melt faster than thieves. Yes you will do damage and yes you are awesome. But are you really bringing your best to the team?

Personally, I don’t think game models should resemble too much of a real life model. This is a fantasy game, after all.

You say you like it the way it is but irony is that they DO resemble a real life model a million times more than the male. That’s part of the issue with sexual dimorphism is that the female are stuck looking like “real life” while the men get fantasy proportions.
If you want to go down that far, norns don’t really resemble anyone in real life… :]
Female Norn models look like supermodels, and male norns look like a fat german guy or something. That’s not really fantasy.
Disappointed. From what I am seeing, only 40% of people got in. Everyone else is queued. I was spamming the BL and got stuck in a queue. That means it filled up in less than 1 actual second.

As a member of SoR, I just want to commend the fight TC has put up in the face of overwhelming forces. Peak NA time is really a nice place to play right now. TC has learned how to retake keeps very well and how to keep the zerg at bay long enough to take towers. Even if a tower is flipped, that’s still a loss of all upgrades to the defending team.
Some people would say that the battles would be boring due to the score and it can be demoralizing but I think every keep retake and every tower retake, no matter how short lived, is a victory because you are taking on a larger force. I remember that from when BG was in T2. Your strategies are coming together and I think it will help you for who ever you fight from now on.
Have fun guys. You are doing great and for the next 24 hours, I will enjoy our fights and wish you the best in taking us on.

Honestly, I have to say in many many years of playing MMOs and playing PVP MMOs I’ve never known a faction/side emote spam as much as SOR does, the idea that it’s a few isolated incidents is pretty funny because it’s just not, it doesn’t bother me but it leaves you wondering what the they think they are getting out of it.
Relax. This is an MMO and there are always kiddies think dancing on corpses they killed 1v30 is cool. Not an SoR thing, and I will bet you my left nut that I’ve experiened a LOT of TC doing that on my corpse.
Emoting is common on all servers honestly. There are always going to be
- people who like to cause grief to others
- people who are new to WvW/server and not aware of how core group works
- people who got emoted at in the past and emote back by killing the friends of the enemies that emoted at them previously
All we can do is just ignore them and laugh at them IRL.
I get laughed at a lot when I rush into a zerg solo to tell them that I ain’t scared of them, maybe they think I’m stupid to rush in instead of running away? I wouldn’t know.
And they probably had a good laugh on teamspeak… why would you run into a zerg unless you’re trying to get your team to flank or lead them the wrong way?

I find it hard to believe that anybody from TC would fall that low. Maybe it’s server pride making me naive but still. It probably came from someone in t1 after scouts found your info.
You don’t know, there are bad apples on every server.
We had 20 guys trying to 1 thief from destroying all the siege. But they kept on hitting the siege to gain stealth. So basically thieves can run around attacking walls and siege and stealthing off that. cool trick >:(
also the culling bug is still there with thieves. Some thief just went invis to do the finishing move on me and didn’t come out of stealth once he/she did it. sigh.
Dealing damage breaks stealth. Finishing move doesn’t do damage.
I like how TC has given a superior attitude to servers they have beat in the past, but now that they get it….not so fun.
SoR gamed the system, it has nothing to do with winning or losing.
T1 servers want SoR in T1, SoR should be in T1 and some on SoR gamed the system.
You wouldn’t be faring any better if BG was in T2 this week anyways. I don’t get why you folks keep railing on this. Without that third competitive server (sorry SBI), you were going to get beat this week if it was SoR or BG. Drop the act already on this.

And gaming the system to intentionally remain in T2 for an additional week (this week).

Yup, we should all get banned for training our new members and getting to know the new guys in SoR, getting ready for T1, although having any T1 server in our place wouldn’t change a thing. Totally.
If you’re planning to quote me on that, we ‘trained’ our newer members by telling them via voice comm about what tactics we use, which guilds excel at which stuff… etc.
The irony is not lost on me that the zergiest server in T2 needs an entire week to explain to people via voice comm that what they have to do is follow the commander, press ‘f’ on a portal, press ‘1’ when near enemies, and remember to remind yourselves that you’re the best up-and-coming server with the greatest commanders and tactics.
It’s painful to see the SoR name being dragged through the mud due to the decisions/actions a few commanders and guilds have made.
Only if it was that simple. I’m a commander myself, and trust me it’s not that easy. It only took one meeting to do that, a lot of our new tranfers have excellent attitude, they are a friendly, willing to talk and commuitcate people.
