I have not personnaly ran dungeon in a while killing idiot in spvp is way more fun but i wish sometime we did the ac like in the old day with kholer and the non stacked spider.

Well they need to fix that RNG then as well as the way rewards are earned. Good that someone finaly admited theres something highly wrong in how the dungeon reward works.

To look at how death blossom could be balanced you need to look to the past in the old skill of the same name

gw 1 death blossom was an dual attack move wich revolved around a damaging yet highly spammy ability behing the dual move with the lowest cooldown in the game (aka about 2 or 4 seconds) wich allowed it to be used in synergy with critical defence build for perma blocking. Since thief unlike assasin doesnt rely on cooldowns as a dual move death blossom could be designed in several way the first behing a full physical aoe attack the second by actualy exploiting the ‘’revealed system’’ and the fact dagger is suposed to be THE backstabing weapon aka making a repeat of the old right hand left hand dual skill gimmick of the assasin class by making death blossom particularly deadly once under the revealed debuff.

Other alternative would be to reduce death blossom cost further (aka cost 3 or 4 at worse) and allow it to be spammed the way it is now with a slight increase to physical damage. Or grant it a free cost when used while under the revealed debuff therefore encouraging the use of stealth for dot spammer.

Personally, I think people are either scared that speedrunning is going to be taken away, or they are just plain afraid of change, so it’s easier for them to argue that there shouldn’t be an alternative.

I think that the problem is they’re worried that if speedrunning is taken away, it will increase the amount of time it takes to farm dungeons, when my suggestion is (ultimately) not to take away speedrunning, it’s really a suggestion to increase the level/rate of dungeon rewards for everyone else to take away the allure of speedruns…

You just want more gold with low effort tactics while farming a single path, i get it, all of us get it. Thank you, but we don’t like it.

Killing everything is actualy less effort? Since when choosing the easy way out is not actualy easier by conveniance. While speedrunning is supported running dungeon in a vannila fashion could use more reward for those that are willing to actualy try it out. I recall that killing everything in Arah is infinitely more tedious then simply running by and i think player should be rewarded accordingly for their trouble.

Illuminerdi you should concentrate more on providing ideas then fighting over a topic not everyone here is out to get you and some may even read here can we all please keep this topic constructive? For the speedrunners maybe you guys actualy have and could provide idea yourself as to how to actualy do a promotion of killing things.

Note i did speed run myself but didnt like it. Mainly because i do dongeons for fun and dont accumulate much money i prefer to spvp in the mist

He still mark a point the system is penalising people for not doing the instance as intended, there should be more incentive to actualy run it vannila mode Aka rewards.

End reward could indeed as an exemple be based of kill numbers.

Point is youl need to rely on your party composition and less on possible AI failures. You say you have it to easy because of AI behing dumb? I say then lets remove potential AI programming weakness so to limit how much player can actualy make a 20 vs 5 fight easy.

That LOS is as old as the beginning of MMO doesnt mean encounters were designed to be based on them. LOS makes thing easier, so if we want to have some form of challange we need to remove it. You cant deny the difficulty of an encontroled encounter ramps up way higher then a stacking kill and thats exactly the kind of challange the team should face in that kind of gauntlet event. Is LOS a valid tactics? Yes it is but the question you should ask yourself is would LOS be actualy a pertinant option to give to the players in a survival arena type dungeon, I think not. Its in the DEV best interest to make the encounters as challanging as possible and LOS doesnt make things challanging at all it makes it easy.

Rely more on build and team composition less on terrain gimmicks.
Everyone here been longuing for a hard challange, as such they need to avoid providing players the tool to dumb everything down to a dps race.

I like how nobody care about solution that are proposed to make killing mobs in the dungeon actualy an equaly viable option to speedrunning tells how much people dont care about actualy having multiple options to make money. Farming is unrelated to skiping it just happen skiping is the easy way to make stuff faster right now. I say give all mobs material bag in the dungeon a 1 to 3 token drop per bag opened and people will start considering killing to especialy if they can get out with 15 to 30 more token then normal

The tower was a massive group dungeon you move through. The ideal survival dungeon would be a party dungeon (5 people in a party entering) where something like an Asura gate gone haywire would be sending in enemies from far and wide. Dungeons are about surviving to the end, but the survival dungeon is about how many waves you can survive without end.

Picture this. You enter an Asuran lab and they are testing a single gate that can go anywhere without having a gate at the other location. They start up the gate but the control panel has been sabotaged by inquest and it explodes. “Oh well we can build another.” Then the gate fires up and the Asura close the doors with you inside saying “We have to quarantine the area until we know that the environment is safe.” Then a wave of icebrood pour through the gate. The Asura says “Lock it down! We can’t let the dragon’s minions out!” Now your stuck and the carnage begins. After you dispatch of the first wave the gate fires up again and destroyers come through. “The gate is choosing coordinates at random. Be careful we have no idea what could come out of there!” Then after a few more waves you get to wave five when the arm of a dragon reaches through the portal! “Attack the arm of the dragon! If you can hurt it bad enough it will pull it’s arm back and we can temporarily overload the gate. We may not be able to stop it, but we can give you a break.” Let your imagination continue from there.

The Survival Dungeon would be endless and the final reward would be based on how many waves you survived before your party were finally overcome and died.

Remove any possible corner for impossible wall stacking and you got a serious deal especialy if the ennemy has ranged unit amonst its rank. What about a circular arena so mob can actualy hit you from anywhere

You might as well say “remove any strategy or tactics that smart players could use to succeed in the instance.” I can tolerate a lot of dumb ideas, but I won’t tolerate asinine, uncreative ideas.

You call standing still stupidly and gathering all mob togueter tactics? I call that exploiting. Sure thats effective but you guys have it way to easy.. lets see how you fare when mobs are scattered all over the place.

As for guild wars 1. Yea we could use having healer style ennemies who put back foes to full health or mesmer/ranger interupt spammer ruining our life once again, at least people would start thinking over when spamming their rotation. I miss the mage stone wind riders and other funzies.

what if they actualy made that a stat like vitality increased endurance regeneration rate and toughness increased the duration of defensive ability?

Not by a large ammount but like lets say running vitality amulet would give you about +40 to your endurence regeneration rate and the default endurance regen rate would be lower.

Toughness could actualy manage condition duration on self, A character witheout toughness would endure more condition duration. It could also make a few defensive move such as warrior shield block scale up (for exemple curent would be 5 second im just giving out random numbers, but with toughness the duration would be increased by about 20 to 40%)

Healing power already scale but does so badly that it is meaningless i just think these 3 stat needs to be given a meaning.

Id also like to point out that less endurance regen would also mean less easy access to active defense for glass cannon class. Because lets face it a character who lacks vitality should also somewhat lack energitic movement and as such likely move slower or less often when trying to avoid blows. How agile do you think a guy whos sick is?

Regardless of the OP many girouete like post i still think he got a point speedrunning is way to rewarding and encourage people to skip content in the sake of moneymaking. Money should come both way even when not speedrunning and skipping stuff shoulnt be more viable moneywise and effectivenesswise in a run then killing it, at best it should be equaly viable. It should not be a choice of ‘’will i make more money or token by skiping or not’’ but rather of ‘’will my life be easier if i skip or not’’ because the facts are dungeon mobs drop nothing usefull least of all token and are in many way simply put useless. What about making that any material lootbag found on regular mob gives 3 or 2 token of the actual dungeon so to encourage killing them?

Necro minions in PvE

Theres a defrence between damaging tools and defensive ability. 50% to 80% of a summoner class damage comes from the pets, Its not normal that said pet dont rely on the character gear as it automaticaly force said character to be a bunker or a very bad damager. I dont see why a phantasm mesmer who clutter the map with ’’summons’’ (because yes no mather how you put it out these are summons as they deal damage AND eat damage) should be the only class to have a AI build wich can be scaled with the player stat.

Armor stat isnt tied to anything actualy and thats totaly out of deal that anything becomes armor related when i talk stat scaling I mean power precision condition damage and critical damage aka the 4 main damage related stat so that pet spammer no longuer are forced to run a ’’bunker’’ build to maximise effectiveness. Less armor and tankyness more damage please.

Before anyone even mention power necro minionmancer ill just remind that this build could as well just NOT run minion and do twice the DPS with just the same amount of survivability. No mather how you put them minions are subpar to other utility (traited or not) and only are worthwhile because of the CC wich as a small reminder was nerfed to oblivion when flesh golem got its charge ’’fixed’’ Golem multihit charge behing MM biggest source of damage. I wont also mention that what makes this build even half viable is the ridiculus amount of self healing provided by the blood trait line and that running any MM build witheout blood of the master is somewhat suicide (this force us into running bunker gear).

You want less necro and engy bunker around? then make choosing dps over armor an actual serious option.

This guy actualy isnt dumb, maybe if they changed the end dungeon reward it would help a lot. Basicaly dividing the number of token amonst the bosses and mob would be a + (Doing Cathedral of flame wasnt as rewarding for the end loot as it was for the diessa chalice and golden relic of rin wich paid the run largely). The main issue is all the reward is given when killing the last boss and that encourage skiping etc. While speedrunning a dungeon should still remain viable (faster boss looting) the effectiveness of doing the place in its entirety should be improved (more drops more token etc) so that both option actualy are equal on time and monatary value. You skipping stuff? So why do you get more loot then me who actualy killing everything? Doesnt make any sense as i kill more stuff so i should get more loot as a consequance.

The cutscenes? I dont care about them at this point because once youve seen it one time you likely wont watch them again.

Speedrunning is way over rated.

Necro minions in PvE

Point you guys seems not to understand is that a glass cannon necro using minion should be rewarded with glass cannon damage like minions and same is to say for enginer and ranger. The issue is that the moment you play summoner you are automaticaly a bunker because none of those stat are tied to the master save for the useless stuff no one cares about. I bet lot of people would rage less against minion masters in pvp if they actualy didnt constantly run dire, soldier or cleric due to having no viable glass option.

While minion damage would not always be optimal due to boss aoe etc (again no build is perfect) they would still be a viable build pvewise for as long as the pets are up and hiting and actualy open up new possibility especialy in the case of less aoe centered boss such as mossman who prety much does single target strikes and would waste the majority of his attack hiting a minion at random.

to late for me… I have seen 3 guilds guilds leave this game and I also left with my last guild.
I gave this game a lot of chances and the game fail me every time.

there is no coming back now. not to mention that were playing a different game atm and having actual fun for a change. the last couple of month have been frustration free so… why would I come back here?

Because world of warcraft (cataclysm and kungkittenpanda) and Aion failed you even worse then guild wars 2 and that TESO is litteraly the biggest marketing failure Bethesda ever made? I didnt mention either that everquest next gets out way later this year or the next so your long due for waiting a new mmo.

Truth is guild wars 2 despite all its mishaps is still the best mmo around here when it comes to balancing and system

Wow is old and boring nowaday i wouldnt come back to it unless they totaly overhauled their combat system and we know that wont happen

TESO is a theme park perfect world like game wich litteraly failed to deliver the final merchandise

Dont get me started on other MMO the only real competitor in view isnt even out yet and will take a year or two to do so

Ill just put a small exemple… go dance with 60 gravelings or try the citadel of flame suicide room in the old style fashion (aka instead of regular mob all mob are silver circle and everyone jump in and run around trying to stay alive as much as possible) Now do tell me how zerker fits in a place where you get submerged no mather how fast you kill. Sure you buy yourself a few second of respite… thats not enought to recover all the insane damage youve taken. Youl need a highly efficient kiting dps build to even play glass cannon in that fashion, even then most efficient kiting build involve dots and ranged attack (save of course for enginer bomb kit lol). Now just to make it cheaper put a circle at the center of the map and if mob take control of that giant circle the dungeon ends wich means you cant endlessly stealth your wins.

DPS would likely not fit in that meta here. in the case of endless waves of monsters its prety much useless to deal a thousand damage if they are just getting replaced 2 or 4 second later. DPS build hardly are good for any endurance fights we likely will see the emergeance of a bunker meta.

theres a large defrence between moving up floors to reach the top of a tower and fighting to the death against an endless tide of ennemies in the middle of a circular arena. Ever tried to see what happens when you cant manage to destroy the graveling nest fast enought in AC? Imagine that to the scale of an instance wich rewards the player based on time.

no clue but i aprove of that idea. Gives a purpose to more survival focused build in a gauntlet arena type fight and open more build possibility. Lets call it the lion arch collosum or something like that, didnt they said they hosted gladiatorial fight there anyway?

I mean they could make it work like that graveling event in AC cept now you CANT destroy the nests XD

Again thats relative to the therm of ’’competent’’ some people choose to run something by choice rather then by ignorance. Doesnt mean they are inefective ive seen guys running realy random stuff and still be very usefull to the team, it just mean its not what the meta engineered build run and that it wont fit in the perfectly designed combo.

I always run full zerk in my builds but it doesnt mean i trait for meta. Im very gimmicky by default and generaly will play a class the way i created it for. Doesnt mean i dont run a glass cannon just mean you may not get what you expected to get. The effectiveness will generaly be there but might be subpar due to various reasons (self might relient build, Pet reliant build, unusual weapon set or trait gimmick that is not considered optimal etc)

Aka for exemple i might be running a full arcane elementalist with summon instead of fiery GS and frostbow. Means i get a lot of access to might and burst combo but no Aoe for stuff like lets say object items. In wich case ill likely switch one move mid dungeon for that only encounter but that still is a rare case.

Even then i generaly make my own dungeon groups or run in ‘’non meta announced’’ party description because i dont realy care about speed only in how fast it takes for me to join or make a party and if the jobs gets done or not with pleasent not assholish people not to mention i waste a LOT of time in instance talking between fights or saying jokes wich is something anyone bent on speedrunning a place as quick as possible would likely not appreciate. Theres of course limit to it, if a guy is obviously trolling (aka naked armor players or punching jokers because yes ive seen a guy attempt to do a dungeon witheout weapons) its likely hell get kicked save by the most tolerent pugging team.

Well i actualy created my enginer so to play turret. So did i create my ranger so to play pet and my necro to play minion master. While i highly deplore the lack of interaction with the ‘’summonable tools’’ i think they could have designed it otherwise while keeping it viable.

Its nasty? I dont care. You want to nerf it? I still dont care but how about you remove cooldown on turret and turn them into tool kit like pet that can be put down and removed at the cost of loosing theyre actual special command ability? Maybe you could actualy turn that ability into the F1 F2 F3 F4 and make it work only when turret is down. Im all for a less AI dumbed turret enginer or necro as long as they keep those build viable for people who specificaly made their character for it. You guys got to understand if a guy want to play mass summoner he perfectly has the right to do so the same half of the thief runs the endlessly stealthing D/P build and weither the build is cheeze mode or not has nothing to do with the player skill level. You want it to be less OP and less tank like? Well why not turn turret into utility package the enginer set up and travel with and force those stat to scale with what gear the enginer itself run so that if the engy wants his turret to deal serious damage in the first place he needs to gear squishy.

Weither you like it or not mass AI mode is actualy an availlable choice in most RPG games and not everyone agree that it should be gone.

At the current price if the guy is crazy enought to spend 400 dollars and buy a shiny sword well I guess he likely wont talk a lot about how he got it. The defrence between legendary and dungeon gear is that you CANT just purchase a piece out in the blue you need to farm it either by doing dungeons or by pvping a lot. Lot of stuff is purchasable by the TP some stuff should remain out of reach even for the richest guy. Im very glad they recently added those pvp only armor etc it force them to actualy play the game.

There should remain lot of good looking stuff only a dedicated player can obtain and no money can buy out.

Unskilled players still get Arah tokens without path sellers. They join LFGs, and leech, and/or they spend 2+ hours on a simple path 2, and do it repeatedly, or they do sPvP (where pseudo-afk leeching is PERFECTLY FINE). Anyone can get any dungeon skins with absolutely zero player skill.

All dungeon runners do is let people get their tokens faster, let them get their dungeon master faster, and most importantly, keep them out of groups where they’re probably not wanted. (And to be fair to buyers, some of them could be perfectly welcome in a good group, but just have way more gold than time).

In return, they actually get an appropriate reward for their skill and effort. It’s a fair trade, and one of the areas of the game where skill is actually appropriately rewarded, in a game that often rewards content requiring zero skill equally or better to having actual player skill.

Im not denying the actual Work of a guy who manage to solo the dungeon actualy i would admire their talent but i dont see why the rich folk should benefit from that (I mean woa nice you got that super shiny looking cool armor how long did it took you was it hard? And the guy answer 1 day i paid a runner for it). You know what heres a deal, increase the dungeon reward value depending on the number of player in the party upon completion that way solo runners gets to do it for something and no one benefit that should not.

While pvp do can earn you dungeon skins it take times a lot of it and its at the rate of one armor skin per 44 box level. If you consider the number of match and point the guy need to even gain one armor piece it is more then well earned.

Well in theory what tells us the nightmare court isnt in league with mordremoth witheout behing aware of it. If anything Mordremoth is the representation of nightmare itself and the nightmare court been fellowing its lead witheout knowing it. Well likely see a mixup nightmare court/mordrem like the sons of svanir and the minions of jormag.

Because unworthy player get to wander around in full arah gear making skilled player look mundane? Earn your stuff you darn parvenu half the community didnt farm their gear legit to see some rich kid achieve the same thing in a single day by paying real life money or farmed gold. Its all right if you do the dungeon solo to prove yourself its disgusting when some random dude that wouldnt even be able to finish a explorable instance in the first place gets to have a pick of it.

Take note i DONT aprove of the method used by these guys to counter dungeon runners however I dont approve dungeon running for gold either so i dont know if i want to handshake with that guy and say ‘’good job’’ or scream ‘’wow your a jerk get a life please’’ when i think about them (there are less agressive way to tell dungeon buyers and dungeon runners that you hate them and that they should get the hell out). That said i wouldnt mind if they posted advertising dungeons groups named like ‘’Dont buy arah run’’ or something of the like.

Likely anet wont bother doing anything as it is dungeon run related. Anet stated clearly that dungeon runners are on their own and that should the event of a kicker or griefer happen they would likely not do anything.

In short they wont verse a single tear if you get your solo paid dungeon stolen so you better darn know who your inviting or just stop doing it at all.

I don’t want to sound mean but im actualy very against dungeon selling and in some way even glad people who do it becomes scarces because of that kind of haters. I wouldn’t openly support what they do but I wouldn’t report them for it either. I personnaly think dungeon shouldn’t be for sale to begin with.

Rangers won’t be nerfed, they still need to be buffed to be brought on par with other classes. The LB alone needs a solid 50% damage buff.

But they likely wont improve it since so many people rage with rapid fire. Me? I think what needs a buff is our pets.

how about death blossom would deal heavy damage to poisoned target or extreme damage if used while under the effect of revealed aka the old assassin death blossom principe of finishing move post opener (with damage around or higher then heartseeker)? This would indeed make DD the ultimate glass cannon assassination set.

It wasn’t really “nerfed” Lich used to previously increase your stats power/precision giving you insane scaling on Chill of Death and Air/Fire runes – The base dmg of the skills was increased to compensate so it essentially does the same amount of dmg as before

because doing 7k auto attack in spvp is the ‘’same damage as before?’’ Well not that I mind wrecking people.

If we consider a one v one situation with a ranger guarding a point the guy can in theory last a full 12 second witheout getting himself even scratched (waiting for support on point I recall 12 second is more then enough for any form of backup to join on defence) and or just go Rambo with stability and run into a 2 or 3 v 1 shot 1 guy to death and finish the other after. In a glass cannon battle ranger having a full time of invuln (about 12) would likely be able to take down most of his opponent witheout resistance and that’s witheout counting in a fear or a mass immobilize.

Ranger battle are generaly resolved within mathers of seconds if the ranger isn’t cced to much and with stability that clearly wont be an issue.
