BM: I want to present you my lovely jingle bear mia
If pet had voices: Mommy, I did it! :3
i have and quite a bit with the dual axe build
No pet? Go a run a thief please?
I don’t think I’ve seen that golem in any fractal… which is the only action my Ranger sees now-a-days.
I still keep my pet on passive 100% of the time in any level fractal I am in. Only pets worth a kitten is the F2 on the 5 might stack cat and the F2 fury on the red bird…. That’s about the only thing I use pets for because they just are NOT good enough yet even with the improvements they made last patch.
Want to make pets better? Make them perma-stowable with or without buff. Don’t care. Or, give me an F5 on the active/guard button.
seems we got a hater there.. well sadly for you bro pet will never be perma stowable… also its very likely you may see a few beastmasters in PVE dungeon in the future
well even if you take down the first pet the guy has another he can switch to even then you shoulndt understimate a pet with 25 might stack he likely overdps your health bar, That build however likely wont run on a massive ammount of might
aside from that
i think its more likely to be a shout since HAO was a BM elite in GW1, Curently BM doesnt have any incentive to spec into the shout reduction trait
pet can very much kill a player on its own the general reason why pet doesnt is because the ranger dies first. If the pet has its movement speed increased in any way it already is more then capable of perma hiting you, add to that a bleed damage per attack and all you need to do is Watch your little bird stack the dot on him along with its already constant physical attack (id run a howl for this because of the free frozen condition wich can realy be anoying) the guy is good for dying
You’d be surprised, the duels I had between them were amazingly interesting
Shush! You’ll give away the secret!
As long as they are distracted with the longbow rangers they won’t be paying attention to my raven that can now maintain perma 25 might stacks and hit for a 6-9K burst followed by 3-4K auto attacks!
Oh sorry my bad – I do not main a Ranger, so I thought this was common knowledge :P
Yes, best not to talk about it – let them whine about Longbow :P
Ill put bluntly that while raven can be good a snow leopard running on swiftness from horn blowing can easily outdps the birds due to access of very damaging ability such as bite (not to mention the ice leap altrought owl can do the same). Also the jaguard can litteraly hit target from stealth dealing damage but staying invisible wich makes it a Deadly tool for surprise damage in pvp.
Im running axe horn right now… i like watching people scream in horror especialy thieves who gets revealed and mesmer who just get themselves destroyed the moment they start using illusion and phantasm or just other ranger using the bow wich actualy are prety much highly disavantaged against my axe/axe weapon set
Been called a hacker 10 time today for killing them with pet damage i love those tears
well of course cond removal would suck you can always clean it with Healing spring x.x but yea its not very viable against condition build save for the fact that what cannot see you cannot hit you so you can prety much out time the conditions out and prevent overstacking
Totaly agree with you for pet dodge
Well thats if you have the guy run into the trap it doesnt mean you cant just place them somewhere else with the targeting so to cover your escape not to mention the point of the build isnt as much to force them to run into the traps as to have the pet do all the nasty work for you
i couldnt personnaly run Guardian because of how the class work it just anoy me (save for spirit weapon wich i find funny as hell)
I mained ranger during beta then shifted to MM necro If we talking about running a class as your main however warrior is by far the one wich insert itself everywhere as far as it pains me to admit it. I recommand ranger however if you want a fresh start with something reliable on its own
Troll level 10/10
Totaly… and +1 it would just be a ’’Damaging’’ remake of the permastealth thief XD
Ranger could use some of its Healing spell actualy behing tied to a trait type mainly because they are this long to cast or just plenty much arent good enought
Heal as one: Should be a shout because as its name subject is it based from a beastmastery elite tier skill of guild wars 1 wich healed both pet and master and revived the pet, As such it would be only natural that this ability act as a shout not to mention how poor of a heal it is when faced against condition, could be a life saver when you just cant remove them due to low cooldowns. Also because prety much all shouts are somewhat useless save for sic em and player would definitively need an incentive to gain that 20% shout cooldown reduction trait youve wasted a slot of the BM line for
Healing spring: Trap is the word about it, Healing spring was considered a trap skill back in GW 1 and prety much reacted the same way. While Healing spring having a shorter cooldown would make it a very strong Healing ability you gota remember the only trait in the game that reduce trap cooldown is actualy a grandmaster trait of the skirmishing line. People who realy want to run an improved HS would be somewhat forced to run a trap build
Water spirit: already tied to the spirit traitline
Troll unguant: Totaly is a survival skill this ability has always been in the survival line. While troll unguant indeed proc an excellent progressive self heal reducing its cooldown will not affect the ranger effectiveness that much.
Now now i know lots of you will say many skill in the game arent tied to a skill line but thats prety much likely just a lack of time to adapt on their part i mean why not make every Healing skill related to a type after all like the other skills? By no means should this change only apply to ranger we could all use having all our Healing skill related to a trait line
(edited by kyubi.3620)
You forgot build running around axes with pet in a dumbo tank style fashion i mean do try running away from that :/
actualy yes they can x.x a pet can easily crit serious dps even if not might caped and with 20 in skirm you can actualy give it might on crit
lol it just could actualy make a return… but how about running it with traps so to spam stealth? i mean pet doesnt even break it
(edited by kyubi.3620)
Well even witheout the stack of pet bloodlust wich require pet never or near to be switched you gota remember that with axe, might on crit from trait, might on crit from weapon, shared boon a pet can prety much perma cap 25 might.
My snow leopard doesnt always cap the 10k in pvp but can easily pwn the hell out of you with a fair 8k bite (ive seen so many people rage about this ahahah even one calling me hack)!
Why snow leopard? because the leap is icy and pin you immobile wich allow him to chain you to the death, people constantly get destroyed by my cat when in spvp because the thing can easily topple the hp of a player within seconds (icy axe + pet constantly smashing you = your prety much dead especialy if squishy)
Swiftness and movement speed are irelevent once you walk from behing frozen back in those years axe was unreliable due to no advantage save for the ice axe, now that i spam pulling grabs freeze and might on hit you might revise your statement especialy since ive been chain killing people like mesmer rangers and even signet hambow warriors of late the most hilarous behing thief who scream in horror as they are revealed out of stealth by sick em.
I must admit however ive so far been running zerker with this build, maybe its high time i move on to something running on precision and tankyness
(edited by kyubi.3620)
Ok so just now they made a rune that allows you to stealth for 4 second when placing a trap… what prevent a ranger from running 30 in skirmish and 20 in BM with 20 in survival (for stealth when disable and base condi transfer) with a full trap build? i mean this might Sound crazy but when pet attack stealth doesnt break for us it means you could naturaly just troll people out with a bursting damage pet while staying hidden and kiting about 95% of the time by placing movement impairing trap everywhere o_O and or pushing/escaping with longbow/greatsword /sword.
I mean offensive defence with the endlessly respawning pet dealing 100% of the damage?
Also consider the fact if you run longbow you have 4 stealth each of 4 second duration + the knockback the pet fear and add to this joke the fact that you can stack in ice field cripple field and poison/burn field… idk about you but i know that most of those trap once cooldown are reduced have a CD of about 20 (aka way shorter then thieve deception skills wich are around 30) and that you can practicaly cycle trought them nearly achieving a near perma stealth not to mention stealth on CC so lol… find me? Well you can always run away from the pet that bleed you on strike (likely a bird) and stack the dps out of your hp while i trap the entire field XD
(edited by kyubi.3620)
in wich case they would also have to improve pet by default for those that want to stick to it
Lol… seriously well i might try it because it looks funny maybe on my sylvaris ranger with a slingshot
how i deal with longbow rangers…
Cast whirlwind defence (watch them hit themselves like hell)
Use path of scars (they get pulled close range)
Simply hammer their face with my greatsword (took 2 hit to finish if path of scar didnt do the job already)
End of the glass cannon ranger within 5 seconds….
Longbow by default is suposed to be a sniping weapon used for longrange to be fired at a slow pace with high precision.
Well, its not. You need Read the Wind, a GM trait, for the Longbow to hit anything at a range beyond 1000. So high precision, pfsh, not really.
Ill just say that in this game arrow tracking kind of fail when it comes to saying your character know how to aim.
pvp not viable… says the bomb guys wich needs to chase people or get chased by them just to hurt something because of the fact bomb are not projectiles but traps. Grenade is awfull to aim with so if we gunna start about kit viability for combat we might as well say none is viable and the only decent build for engy that isnt a ranger easy breakable bunker actualy rely 100% of static discharge. FT has at least the point of dealing very good damage and prety much behing very hard to avoid.
Save for getting hit by retaliation running FT in pvp right now is prety much devastating ive killed player quite fast with it either because everyone runs like glass cannon or more because that things can pack up some serious multistriking chain damage.
(edited by kyubi.3620)
well idk i simply ditched out my bomb kit for the FT because more effective at murdering people in pvp then what bomb is (well save for idiots who just fellow you to the end of the world, i mean most people who see you use a bomb kit just keep out of range and snipe you to your doom its very good for bunkering not very so for witstanding a ranged siege). Sure you can still run nade and a lot of explosive but running HGH grant wich is prety much the next step right after FT along with juggernaut is like gaining free access to condition cure self rez and a lot of might. Sure auto attacking with FT is kind of super dumb but do run it along with a rifle and youl have your share of knockback and control moves. Gota get out of the kit from time to time anyway.
With the new ranger build spamming longbow bombkit will just end up trice useless in pvp
lol i must admit that by carrying spinal blade all day i will likely end up with my back hurting
No one but looking at their previous game longbow indeed had slower attack speed then shortbow on purpose have faster attack was one of the reason a ranger would pick a shortbow over the longbow
Well then you might want to explain me how a weapon wich was designed for sniping ended up behing the rapidfire weapon. Shortbow should have had that design exclusively.
As for barrage im as anoyed by it as i would be rapidfire. Likely it to shouldve been in shortbow but they didnt had the space to put it in. Barrage indeed doesnt factor in at all but ive got no clue what they would replace it with
GW 1 logic
shortbow = faster but shorter range
Longbow = slower but long range
there was also several other type such as the armor pierce version etc
Lets just point out that longbow isnt actualy supose to be a quick striking weapon.
(edited by kyubi.3620)
Longbow by default is suposed to be a sniping weapon used for longrange to be fired at a slow pace with high precision. The current update to it makes it in theory the quickest ranged weapon in the game wich is somewhat contrary to the principe of a sniping weapon. While i agree longbow did need a massive buff skill such as rapid fire would have been more fit in a shortbow setting.
Longbow… what it should have been
1. Auto attack (based on current distance)
if hunter shot is activated turns to snipe wich charge an attack over 3 second while invisible and deals damage equivalent to rapid fire on a single arrow
2. Crossfire (for 10 second all arrows ignore dodging and blocking and the target takes 10 stack of vulnerability)
3. Hunter shot (turn invisible and change auto attack to snipe)
4. point blank shot (same as before)
5. Barrage (same as before)
tbh run axe/axe ranger… troll longbow
erm ranger because of pets…
because retal isnt defensive?
just running a pair of axe is enought to troll most ranger in pvp because not only is that build centralised around pet damage (wich btway will run after the opposing ranger and deals it constant heavy damage, but the LB ranger prety much suicide attack on you to use 80% of its ability.
Well while i run BM tbh i rarely switch pet, I run a snow leopard and a jungle stalker mainly because SL has a long range leap that freeze people so finish off runners and stalker got a shout for might ability.
To conclude id say switching pet is prety much only good when you run a build that doesnt rely on their ability to kill but more on their special ability (such as bear)
tbh i run axe-horn/axe-axe right now and the amount of might you get in battle is near trollish it can perfectly be ran in a full zerker gear to. Ive been laughing the hell out at rangers mesmer necromancers or prety much any foe that werent alone of late because my pet goes rampage mode and overkill on the damage from all this might stacking
Axe by preferance but i run longbow from time to time. Axe is utherly one of the best ranger dps weapon right now due to that might stacking but if we go that far as to declare a favored weapon ill simply point out the pet itself. Go proc that 9 might to pet (from buff share) along with might on crit from sigil and from trait… troll a lot because you caped the 25 and your snow leopard is tearing people head in pvp.
That guy crying for a 8k crit strike on his head from my lovely snow leopard bite with a twice as lovely what the hell are you hacking was the sweetest tear i tasted in a full year of playing.
I run longbow but tbh i prefer axe… it punish mesmers and other rangers so well
Warrior kind of not realy need HB in pvp to stunlock you to death… Ranger on the other hand kind of need a decent long range weapon hardly behing as solid as the warrior on both condition removal and damage resiliance. Ranger isnt thief people need to stop thinking the whole game resume to melee range.
well gota see how long it took them to nerf VOR in Guild wars 1 or to buff beastmaster builds. Talk about sins and wa/mo or just the derv outright ridiculus 16 regen 4 enchant build that was nigh immortal. We can also talk about the original ritualist healer that was so hard to hit it trolled a monk effectiveness wise, about soldier defence wich gave warrior permanantly 75% dodge rate when shouting defend yourself for high defence or about paragon healers or even about the fact a healing dervish could spam signet of earth at will due to winning more mana from removing enchant then casting them (effectively turning into an endless healing unstoppable dynamo with a 75% dodge rate on call that also can be used on removal to cause spam damage). effectively healing a good 150 hp per cast witheout spending a single mana point and continuing healing even at 0 mana effectively laughing their BLEEP off from mesmer mana burn. Broken builds is the everlasting story of MMO games and not even world of warcraft is spared that kind of mishaps. From ice mages who have been OP since day one to Retrdin (paladin who choose retribution builds) and Emo priest (shadow priest with so much dots you die in 3 second) prety much any MMO nowaday fellow the standards of popular versus unpopular. They care little what player thinks of their class. If a class is underplayed they buff it massively then it becomes OP for a time and they buff another the next 3 month and here goes the endless rotation for who reign supreme in the pvp scene.
(edited by kyubi.3620)
Bomb and grenade doesnt track targets. What you can do with bomb and nades in pvp FT does it twice as fast because it isnt a stationary melee range explosive. Also FT has the advantage of hiting in a way larger area then bomb do (at least if we talk about lines) and to not force the enginer to strait out melee battle because lets admit this much bomb felt like a trapper build at best.
Run 2 6 0 6 0… With HGH and FT you can perma 25 stack so its kind of bloody hilarous to run also because of all those ridiculus buff and retaliation times.
Flamethrower buff actualy made the setting more then lethal enought to be ran as a pvp/pve build
Idk if someone made one yet but heres what i propose
2
6 (pick up all FT traits)
0
6 (pick up elixir duration FT damage boost and HGH for the 25 might stack)
0
Rune: Strenght for 35 second might duration (derp)
Sigil: Might on crit, sigil of blood (FT AA is speced on multihit and as such can provide might very easily)
Skill: Healing elixir, Flamethrower, Buff elixir (for fury), Condition cure/ressurection elixir (a must have), The good old crate
Whats the point? well you got permanantly 25 stack of might a weapon that has serious damage aoe and you can party buff people with might that last even longuer then the cooldown of the ability used to cast it all while procing some random boons and curing conditions i mean thats dreamworld if i dont know it.
Yea well that was all that was good to FT before to… now not only do you have the 6k punisher you also got that AA damage too XD
Add to this the pushback and the blind and you got tools of death.
Well what about if napalm did a 10 second burning duration (burning increase FT damage by 10% btway)? stacking to with its pathetic base damage? I mean FT is so good right now i can afford specing into it instead of bombs for perma 25 might and massive damage. Go toss a magma ball in pvp for high KO ratio etc I just love using it XD.
BURN BABY BURN…. DISCO INFERNOOOOOO (charr enginer style means BBQ)
Well i did top score pvp hotjoin with that :/ 2 shoting thieves and squishies never felt funnyer. Also scoring 6k magma ball is kind of hilarous
Give me shovel i must bury that abomination deeper… way deeper so to make sure signet and hambow zombie never rise again.
Ill just put it bluntly. It is now possible for an enginer who also run HGH to have permanantly 25 stack of might a condition cure/self res +200 thoughness as well as a heavily damaging aoe ranged attack with flamethrower easily stacking enought of progressive combo damage to burn down a health bar in AA 3 channel. I know most of the focus has gone to ranger but before you call hack on them you should look at what other classes can do.
In 3 days ive seen rages against ranger and guardian yet its no defrent then the rage we got against warrior and mesmer I mean if we are to nerf ranger again we would have to nerf healing signet further kill down illusion break spammer and ruin the hell out of hambow to oblivion just so to make it legit.
It makes me laugh because when im not running LB im running axe and still wrecking idiots in pvp including most of the time the so called longbow ranger who just happen to run on the very kind of mechanics that increase my dps… pets (just have a taste of my 25 might pet build, you wont like the next ferocious bite my cat will score on your sad head the moment it split your hp in half!) The most hilarious is the mesmer they just keep spamming their illusion and supply me with an endless amount of might stacking, no seriously the only reason people suck so much against ranger now is because they are way to used to them as a lootbag and cant level up to the new challenge they pose as an actual all out long range class having for to long speced as pure melee fighters and behing unable to counter something that runs on long range (get some teleport and close up charges guys its so easy to just spam a bullrush or steal to close the way in if not to use a meditation so what is your excuse).
No idea but i might actualy try running Master bond along with an axe that stack might on crit and on swap + the skirmish line… watch those might stack going in.
Well since now all ranger can benefit from signet of the wild damage bonus as well as signet of the hunt its only to figure axe build and longbow build based around pet burst are gunna get a massive usage boost. Any of you plan to try axe might buildup in the future with a rune of might on crit petbuff share and might on crit trait?
If we make the calculation correctly
3 might if all recochet hit (2 target minimum)
1 might on crit from sigil (may not always proc but can proc up to 3 might), This could be replaced by the weapon swapping sigil for a long duration 3 might buff that can go up to 9 if swapping periodicaly
1 might per crit on attack for pet (max 3)
3+3+3 = maximum 9 might on one auto attack
15 in skirmish grants fury on weapon swapping for a fair duration as well as the horn fury buff and you can actualy wield bloodlust on your offhand equiping both main hand with might on crit or might on swap wich can always be on the other set wich doesnt use bloodlust (+3 per swap to both pet and you for a fairly good duration as far as i know this buff can reach up to +9)
Running might on signet use or reduced signet cooldown also proc the pet with 6 might that last for about 17 seconds
Idk about you guys but i like the idea of running a pet that is near constantly buffed with full might stacks.
