You can pick up GW1 today and play it and earn the rewards. Blaming it on being too young doesn’t really hold.

They have done something about it. They have removed the titles from people that haven’t earned them. They are not going to do anything else.
If you want them, buy GW1 and fill your Hall of Monuments like the rest of us.

You didn’t earn those titles, which were given specifically to people that did stuff in GW1. Thus they were removed when they removed the titles from people that have gotten them wrongly.

I didn’t decide to do things at the last minute, because I honestly just read about the changes today and immediately got gems. The fact remains the wording on the dev note was ambiguous at best, for such an important change as in locking out 8/9 gold league servers a properly stated time should’ve been given, unless it’s ArenaNet’s decision to mess people up intentionally with vaguely worded messages; and yes patches are usually on Tuesday, but they are not always at the same time are they? I recall some patches not coming through until early Wednesday morning EU time, so you cannot really say it is my fault for not second guessing the time of the patch.

So… they should basically make a list with the date for every country in the world? ArenaNet is a company based in the US. It is very likely that when they are talking about todays or tomorrow they are talking about their time, not some random time elsewhere in the world.

They never have a set time for patches, so they can’t really give a stated time.

Wednesday, EU time (but that is extremely unusual, as far as I can recall it have only really happened once or twice) is rather irrelevant. The time/day for patches is always in ArenaNets time, unless something else is stated.

Cuz I have “Legendary Defender of Ascalon” which, if I’m not mistaken, counts for 2 points for HoM rewards (under “Any Title Statue” in reward calculator) and yet the I’m still at 3 points on HoM achieves instead of 5.

Legendary Defender of Ascalon is just a standard title. It requires X amount of titles to get a point.
But yes, you also need to actually place the statue in the Hall.

So the wording on the original timing of the dev post has completely screwed me. It was mentioned that the changes will be done “tomorrow”, would’ve been a lot better if you had actually said a particular time with timezone included. I’m an EU player and 11 hours ago (when the post was originally made) it was the same date as 11 hours later, whereas obviously in the US this is not the case. Now I’m locked out of my home server with possibly a very long wait since my server (FSP) along with 7 others are all marked as full. I converted gems immediately after reading the post and was planning on transferring tonight after talking to my guild leader about it but apparently I didn’t even have enough time for that. I don’t understand how you can give people so little notice (11 hours and then without a clearly stated time) and expect everyone to have read about the changes and prepared the necessary costs to transfer servers. Two of my fellow guildmates are in the same position, and we all find ourselves unable to transfer back to be with our guild for what could possibly be a very long time. It is very common for WvW guilds to take breaks from the game, and their members will have scattered across gold silver and bronze leagues as they change servers to play with old friends or just slack/roam, so I am sure that we are not the only ones caught out by this
change.

What I am really hoping will happen is that these changes are retracted and more time be given for players to prepare the necessary gold/gems to transfer, or just change the population statuses back to how it was before in an one week “grace period”.

Patches are basically always on Tuesdays. Why would they suddenly patch this in on a Wednesday?

We have known about this change coming since Friday. And we also know that the vast majority of the patches comes on Tuesday. You have had plenty of time. It is not ArenaNets fault that you decide to do things at the very last second.

The fact that no matter how much money you throw at something it doesn’t magically get fixed. They will still need people that knows the system to spend quite a bit of time to fix it. Time that needs to be taken from something else.

No, what you said was that there have soon not been any content for a year. That is incorrect.
Episode 8 was released in January this year, that is little over half a year ago. Not even remotely close to a year.

This is however rather standard for MMOs. When an expansion is coming there is usually rather little releases for quite some time (and we actually have gotten quite a bit of releases since then as well. Sure mostly it was features, but there have been a some new content added as well).

So… content releases that happened after the release of Silverwastes are not content now?
Because it was quite some time between the release of SW and the release of Episode 8.

There is quite a bit of stuff coming with the expansion that is not Elite Specialization. Much of it have already been talked about but there is still things that we will most likely hear about before release. Such as: Challenging Group Content. Legendary Weapons. Lore.

The main reason for my post is that every single time there have not been a specialization reveal people seem to think it is the end of the world. Even when they had like 75% of the announced features left to talk about.

This has me curious. Didn’t you, as forum specialist, get selected based on favoritism towards the game and it’s developers? The obvious answer based on this is, no. No it wasn’t.
They have never in any way or form promised anything at all about including anything other than DirectX9 in the game.

What they did say was that they would LOOK INTO DirectX (10 I believe it was) after release. Not that they would include support for it.
Which is rather different from them promising to support it within the first year.

I have never used combat mod (or any other 3rd party program) for almost 3 years of playing the game more or less daily. Clearly it does work rather well.

I also never have been required to constantly hold down a mouse-button.

It is of course also worth pointing out that even if the program itself is not considered cheating, ArenaNet have no reason whatsoever to making sure said program works with GW2, since they don’t really want people using 3rd party things in the first place.

But the fact remain that you don’t have to group for the vast majority of the content in the game.

I always thought allowing server transfers of any kind was a mistake but clearly most people aren’t interested in who they play for or support, just whether they win or get good fights or whatever.

There are many reasons to change servers. Not just “I change because I want to be on the winning server!!”

Dungeons and Fractals are only the only part on that list that is not solo-player things. And even then solo players can complete rather many of them. Champions can be soloed, and even if they can’t you don’t have to group up in order to complete them since they are open world there are usually people around after all.

sPvP can easily be joined solo and the only part of legendaries that have anything that requires grouping in the slightest would be dungeons, and those tokens can be gotten via sPvP, which can be done solo.

Indeed, but the OP seems to want that the Elite Specs should be stronger than the Core ones, and thus it would make people mechanically stronger.

If anything they just need to buff several of the racial skills to a more useable level. For example, Warband Support is a poor man’s Thieves Guild, with the NPCs doing little damage and barely take a hit before disappearing, making it a horrible Elite skill. Buff the damage and the life on those NPCs a bit so they’re decent in both categories instead of kitten poor.

However I admit several other racial skills don’t need to be touched at all because they’re at a perfect level, such as Prayer to Dwayna, Battle Roar, and Grasping Vines.

But that is exactly what the Racial skills are supposed to be. Weak versions of profession skills.
Making them strong would more or less “force” people to choose a specific race for a specific profession in order to be “viable”.

So basically: People with the expansion should be mechanically stronger by having access to Elite Specializations?

That is not really what Guild Wars 2 is about.

How something is delivered is completely irrelevant. The time they have spent working on it is still the same.

you can play GvG but it doesn’t cost you your GH, it’s just a loss like every other TDM game.

We have no information about how these supposed defend events will work.

It is of course also worth pointing out that the game is an MMO (as opposed to GW1). There is no reason why everything in the whole game should be catered to solo-players.

People keep talking about having a 2 month break. No such thing happened. We got HoT related information most weeks during that time as well.

I really hope you will also reset the players rewards. What I mean by that is some players have gotten “God Walking Among Mere Mortals”, full HoM points and yes also “Champion of the gods”.

What I am most concerned of is “Gof Walking Among Mere Mortals”, because this is a hard-to-work-for title in the guild wars universe and a friend of mine got the title without ever playing guild wars 1 + full HoM as the HoM was still active months ago. He still has the title but he does not equip it, because he says it’s not honorable to equip that title aquired through a bug. This should be reset or I would find it very veeeeeery mean of arenanet to put the work of guild wars 1 players to waste. Even I played gw1 and know how hard it was to aquire the God Walking Among Mere mortals title, but the title has no value anymore when you know that thousands of people probably aquired it through this bug as well.

Why do you think that the fix is not here yet? The bug itself was fixed more or less within a week as far as I am aware. What is taking time is creating the software to do what you ask for.

I really don’t see why people keep thinking that they are forced to login to the game everyday.

GW2 will also give you the option to make a guild and have a Guild Hall on your own.
You might need help to claim your guild hall, but nothing stops you from getting friends to help you with it. Heck, you probably don’t even need to be there yourself if you just give leadership to one of the friends while they clear the Hall.

ArenaNet have never in any way or form even hinted at Guild Halls being part of the core game actually.
In fact they were rather clear that Guild Halls would NOT be in the game with the release version.

^ And there is nothing at all that stops people from doing that. Heck, it is even mentioned by ArenaNet themselves when they talked about it as far as I remember.
