Hi can we get an update on this please? I’ve been waiting to transfer to FA for a while now, would appreciate it greatly if I could know when the model will be implemented and how it works. Thanks
It was implemented almost two weeks ago, on the 28th.
It is worth pointing out that we are basically invading an aggressive enemy’s homeland. Soon after we have sent an massive army against it. Of course it will have troops out and ready to fight.
It is also worth pointing out that this is a lvl 80 zone, that caters to people that have a good understanding and knowledge of the game and their class.
While it is neat, it goes against what Anet had shown to us to be how dragons communicate – not in anything one can easily identify as a language.
So while it’s a cool effect, it feels like yet another case of breaking lore (and this time lore created while HoT was in development, no doubt!) for the sake of cool.
One would of course assume that its minions would be able to understand the orders, and thus make it understandable speech. It is after all only Sylvari that can hear it and they should thus be able to “translate” it to understandable speech. Just like how non-native speakers that understands a language translates it in their heads.

Highly unlikely. They have their first large scale beta this weekend. The anniversary is in 3 weeks. That is not even remotely enough time to work on feedback gathered during this weekends test.
We also know that there will be at least one more BWE, and it is quite pointless to have it without first having worked on issues from the first one. Thus it is unlikely that we will see BWE2 before the anniversary.
They can just make the collections and have people choose a skin when they complete it.
But that would remove the whole thing they want to fix with the new system. That each legendary have a story to it. A thing that was one of the major complaints about Legendaries at release. They are all built in the exact same way and they have a grand total of no story at all.
Just putting a collection before the exact same thing would change nothing.
Once again: They are random people playing on the computers ArenaNet have at the convention. Many of them might never have touched the game at all before today. The streams are not supposed to be super informative and played by the best players in the world.
If you have so much issue with it, simply play yourself tomorrow.
But unless we are talking about completely different streams the stream in question is not the player himself streaming but rather ArenaNet. And once again: He could be someone that have never even played the game before. It is a gaming convention, people go there to try out games.
Yes, how dare people that have potentially never played the game not be awesome at it?
Or even if he is an old player, he is playing a completely different character than he is used to, against completely new mobs with new mechanics and on a new computer that doesn’t have the same setup that he is used to.
Gamescom started yesterday actually. But yeah, the main thingies is on Saturday and there is still plenty of time for ArenaNet to announce stuff (even though an release date is almost guaranteed to not happen, due to not actually having had any large scale beta yet).
Gamescom is over for today. It is getting rather late over here in Europe. ArenaNet have stuff planned for every day. Today it was basically just going through information that those of us that follow the game already knew.
Well do you have to play WvW only for it to get some new things?
Same goes for everything, world bosses, dungeons, pvp, pve in general.
Does this mean that if you don’t only play one thing that thing wont get new updates?
Which means HoT is not coming, cause we don’t need it, cause we play all the game modes this game offers..

That was not what I said though. What I did was comment on the line about a large percent just playing WvW.
I remember back in the days when people complained like mad about them doing gemstore updates and thus “wasted their time on developing stuff for the gemstore rather than playable content”.
ANET has about one year to give us wvw’ers some love before Camelot Unchained comes out (a game for pvp’ers) that will drain lots of their wvw players.

It is of course also worth pointing out that it will require a sub (as far as I remember). I also seem to recall people claiming the same about ESO, and yeah well. WvW is still very much alive.
As far as I understand it we won’t even have access to Fractals during the BWE, but rather only part of the new map, WvW and sPvP. So that shouldn’t be much of an issue.
IF we can access it, it is also worth pointing out that you technically can do higher level fractals even without AR, it just becomes a bit harder. Not to mention the fact that everyone in the beta would be starting at lvl 1 for Fractals anyway, and thus there probably wouldn’t really be much time to get to high enough level for AR to matter.
The game reaches 3.5GB RAM usage (highest settings, 2560×1440), during large zergs, and the game crashes. That’s an issue with the game, not my PC.
Except that it clearly doesn’t happen for everyone else. If it was indeed an issue with the game, it would happen to everyone. I for one have never crashed during any world boss fight.
It is also worth pointing out that having character collision would tax the servers quite a bit and most likely make the game extremely laggy, especially in WvW.
Stop making assumptions, you have no facts and no basis. The people I see in WvW daily typically only play WvW and they make up the majprity of people within the maps.
I am basing them on my experiences in-game and on the fact that the people that actually have the data say that people playing only WvW are exceptions.
Unless you are actively following every single player you see in WvW around all the time you are making just as much assumptions as me.
I think you would find that the vast majority of players believe that the bag upgrade is hardly a luxury purchase and in addition that the price of it is exorbitant compared to other gem purchases as it is one of the most mundane purchases you could make in the game and it is essentially a quality of life (in game) purchase (ie. its not cosmetic or fun).
But it is a luxury. More or less the very definition of it no less.
You don’t NEED more than at most 20 slots. You might WANT more, but in no way or for do you NEED it. Thus having more is a luxury.
But okay, lets say that they would lower the price: What should they add into the gem store to make up for the loss of profit from the bag slots?
Just ask for a rollback man. They can do it. Just explain the situation calmly and kindly and ask if they can rollback to before the characters were deleted. They might roll it back too far but you should be able to ask them to roll it forward from there
They only do rollbacks if it can be proven that a 3rd party accessed the account. If someone logged into the game on the OPs computer and deleted stuff it would be impossible to prove that it was not OP himself and thus they would not do a rollback.

I personally don’t know anyone that only WvW, despite being in a WvW-guild.
People keep claiming that they only WvW, but extremely few actually do.
People might not do MUCH none-WvW stuff, but as soon as you start doing some PvE or PvP (if just only to get some money or do a guild mission or skin) you no longer ONLY play WvW.
I’m curious just what Q/A means to ANet. After delaying this patch a week because of Q/A issues, one might expect this to not be released as one of the buggiest patches I’ve seen, since ever really. This is just rampant with weird issues that don’t even seem remotely related to what was changed in the patch. But if this is the cleaned up Q/A acceptable version, what must it have looked like last week?
And the bold part is rather important here.
Unless they test every single piece of the whole game after every single change, things like these will happen. That is just the nature of development.
I would also love to see a source for it being delayed a week. As far as I am aware they never said anything at all about any patch coming a week before the patch actually hit. People ASSUMED it would be a patch that week, but it was not confirmed anywhere.
It is of course also worth pointing out that you can test things for years and it will still have bugs when released. Either due to it being literally impossible to test everything or due to differences between test server and live servers.
If it was as easy to test stuff as people on these forums seems to think there would never be any bugs in any software ever, and yet there are ALWAYS bugs in every software ever.
I would say that people are also overreacting to the relatively small issues that came with this update. There have been much worse things happening after other updates (Not to mention at release).
As far as we know currently only Stronghold and new borderlands will be for everyone, while everything else will require HoT.
Fractals might be hard to lock behind HoT (unless lvl 51+ require Masteries) but other than that most new content will be locked behind the expansion.
I think the main issue is that people don’t know the map and aren’t organized enough yet. Sure, there is some PvE in the map, but relatively I would say it is about the same as the current maps. There will be more fights when people have learned how the map works and where all the hidden little things are.
Why not? Because you are not supposed to spend hours upon hours figuring out the look of your character. You should run around and test things. That is what a beta is for after all.

No, the people that ONLY play WvW is minuscule. People can MOSTLY play WvW (I do), but people that ONLY play WvW is a very small group (more or less non-existent).
The new map is massive. They are also adding new siege and revamping several of the WvW mechanics.
But fact remains that the largest part of the player based does play PvE, so it makes sense for them to spend most resources on PvE.
Having more maps than currently will most likely end up killing WvW much faster than just having this new map though, seeing as it would be even harder for smaller servers to have a chance against bigger ones.
a stress test isn’t “let’s invite only the X players that play this mode”, a stress test is “let’s invite a sh*tload of players to stress the servers”.
what you are saying is that only that small group should join, resulting in an underpopulated server, the exact thing a stress test should never ever have.

stress test=pump the servers full of players regardless of activity.
Yeah. I suppose that multiple hour long queues on all three maps suggests that it is not enough people invited…..
Inviting everyone in the whole world would be pointless, since if they just ignored the map caps (which would be required if they were to get even half the people to play) they would destroy the whole server within 2 minutes and thus making the test completely pointless.
if it’s a stress test then the whole idea of that is to invite as many players as possible, only inviting a small group doesn’t stress the server as much as it should.
But inviting potentially millions of people is also completely pointless, since all that would do would be the make the vast majority of people sit around in the lobby for the duration of the test.
While they indeed need many people, they also need to control the exact amount of people that can potentially join. And unless they stop pre-purchase again, that can’t really happen.
So… they should cater to every single person in the whole world and their real life situation?
There will always be people that can’t join something. This time it might be you. The next time it might be me. That is just how life works. They can’t cater to every single player.
It is worth pointing out that the event will go on for 24 hours, so even if you can’t join right now you should be able to join tomorrow.
It is also worth pointing out that the very point of a stress-test is to let enough people join to actually stress the servers. Something that wouldn’t really happen if there weren’t enough people to create queues.
But how different is the system from other common systems? I don’t know anything about that, which is why I’m asking a question and not stating an opinion. Because i don’t have to use the same mechanic every time i get my car fixed, I can go to a new one without him needing to consult my old one . Also i do think enough money could fix the problem. I am sure if they have a reasonably large amount of employees that they could take one who could help with sab and put him on sab and then replace him with someone new that they just hired.
Someone having worked on lets say WoW for 10 years, can’t just go into the ArenaNet office and then start working on GW2 at once.
You need to learn how the system is built. You need to learn which coding practices the team uses and so on. And the fact that they have stated that SAB was built with a workarounds and such would make it even harder.
No one can come in from the outside and be ready to start developing something at once. It will take time to get a new employee ready. That is simply the nature of development.
Like I said, I would rather talk to anet about this then people trying to deny me something that I’ve earned just because they didn’t have it themselves.
But what can they say? You haven’t earned them. You won’t get them. It really is as simple as that.
And if you have somehow magically earned them just by spending money. Wouldn’t that mean that we would have magically earned them as well and thus your argument would be moot?

What extra content? Did any of that content specifically state to give access to the titles in question? No? So then you did not buy those titles.
I have probably supported ArenaNet just as much (if not more) than you, but that doesn’t really matter. I do have GW1 and I do have quite a bit of stuff in my HoM. I do however not have the God Walking Among Mere Men title. I do not think that I should magically be granted that one just because I have given plenty of money to ArenaNet.
