While I agree that they are currently way too hard to achieve, you are making a mistake in assuming that all achievements should cater to casual players.

There are Masteries for the old world, but they still require HoT, since the Mastery System is a HoT-feature.

But why get anything at all? They could just as easily simply have made it so that you couldn’t get XP at all after lvl 80.

And it is not like spirit shards are all that hard to come by in the first place. You get 3 everyday for simply completing 3 dailies. You get quite a bit from killing champions and so on.

Unless you have access to the episode yourself you will not get it unlocked or be able to do achievements.

Joining someone else doing it will allow you to experience the story, nothing else.

The difference is that it wasn’t really new event from the start.
Sure there were a couple of new rewards (from already existing models), but the only actual thing to do was a quest that was visiting places that had been in the game for years.

We have heard nothing at all about Challenging Group Content, which we know that they will announce at Pax. I wouldn’t really claim that announcing at the very least a completely new feature is “no real special info”.

That was Dragon Bash, which took place between June 11th and July 9th, which is over was not even remotely close to the date of the Anniversary (August 28th).

1) it’s events to commemorate the launch of Guild Wars 2 (something we don’t have)
2) it’s an annual holiday event for this (something we don’t have)
3) it has mobs dropping tokens to buy event rewards (something we don’t have)
4) it’s in a game that the devs have essentially abandoned yet they were able to set up this holiday and it’s rewards to celebrate a completely different game, Guild Wars 2. It’s not even in the game that the event is celebrating.

I can tell you however one thing that Guild Wars 2 has that Guild Wars 1 does not. The option to buy stuff (and only buy stuff) on what should be a major festival in game.

We also know that there will be multiple announcements during the weekend of the Anniversary. Sure, they will most likely not be playable at that time, but it is still something.

Next week will be Pax, which will include Challenging Group content and other announcements. It is quite likely that we will not see a elite specialization on top of that.

It is of course worth pointing out that it is an old event that they just put back on every year, and it contain very little actual content. It is mainly just: Go visit all these old places in the game and get some stuff for it.

^ And a large part of the current playerbase probably don’t even care about it.

It is all speculations. No one have any actual numbers, but it is of course worth pointing out that many of those “riots” have had relatively few people attending and threads like these consists of the same 10-15 people writing over and over again.

Day/Night cycle have already been talked about when they talked about the map.
We already know all masteries coming with HoT.
Guild Halls had a full week with many blog posts so not really anything else to talk about there.

The only announced feature that is left to talk about is Challenging Group Content (being talked about at Pax) and the rest of the Elite Specializations.

Huge? The highest price (if paid with real money at all) is basically the price for a few drinks at a local bar ($22.5), that is not a huge amount of money.

And that is disregarding the fact that you can partially (or fully) pay for the transfer with in-game gold.

But sure, lets say they removed the “huge amount of money” they gain from server transfers. What should they start selling in order to replace those “huge amount of money”? Because if it is indeed such a “huge amount of money”, it would most likely hit the income of the game quite hard if they simply removed it.

The fact that there are queues at all would suggest a rather large population though. Queues only appears when the map is full after all. And that requires quite a bit of people.

I think it is simply not possible to have different versions of the game working and connecting to the same servers. Thus everyone will have the same client, just that a HoT key is required to access HoT specific thingies. Everything will still be in the dat-file, just not accessible.

That that is basically how things work when it comes to MMOs.

There is no other key. There is one key, which can be used to either upgrade an existing account with HoT or create a new account with GW2 and HoT.

It is worth pointing out that the anniversary is soon and that usually comes with a sale of plenty of stuff, so might have a sale on character slots.
