Krall Peterson – Warrior

That doesn’t change the fact that op, myself, and I’m sure many others hate quests where we are given bundles.
Aside from that their goal should be to make the classes more balanced. Sure there will always be a too dog but making the disparity between classes strength not as large will help ensuring the leaderboards aren’t filled with only one class.
Oh, I agree. I am just pointing out that having things with leaderboards where profession mechanics can effect the outcome is more or less pointless.
Of course classes should be more balanced, but unless they all have equal access to everything (and thus more or less removing the whole point in having different classes in the first place) there will always be classes that will automatically be better at certain things when they have access to their own skills and so on. Especially in situations where those skills can actually effect the outcome of the content.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/adventuring-forth/
The example reminds me of the Heart quests that i liked the LEAST in the open world. The ones that don’t actually use your character’s skill set, build or weapons but instead give you a gimmick for a mini-game experience.
In order to actually have a useful leaderboard stuff must be exactly equal across the board though. Otherwise a leaderboard would be completely pointless since certain classes would have advantages and so on.
Dragonite Ore comes from most boss events with a chest (not bonus chest). So its not hard to generate dragonite ore in PvE; and you get crap tons from WvW objective captures. Blood stone comes from champ bags (found everywhere). Fragments are found in open world chests (and chest farms), and from PvE dungeons.
Really the only play style that doesn’t generate one of these mats in large amounts is classic mob farming….. and few people do that because of incredibly low yields.
Lets do some actual math shall we?
Dragonite: 15-25 per Keep/Stonemist you take.
That means you need to take 6 Keeps/Stonemists per day at the very least to get 150. It is rather unusually to have keep flip that much.
Bloodstone Dust: 5-15 per Tower/Keep/Stonemist.
That means a minimum of 10 of those objectives per day. This would be the easiest one most likely, since all big objectives give them.
Empyreal Fragments: 4-9 from Towers. 2-5 (or something like that) from camps.
That means you need to do a minimum of 16 tower captures or 30 camps in order to get 150.
I would say that for an average WvW:er they are not even close to getting all of these done daily.
Only specific playing styles generates more than 150 ore per day. And I am not sure that it is such a good idea to cater specifically for that playing style (which is basically just moving from place to place farming stuff).
But why call it ‘Enchanted Daggers’?
“For the physical-damage legend, we wanted someone who would make sense for high mobility and have a darker theme.”
So we make his heal skill sound like something used by a pretty, pretty princess!
What does Enchanted have to do with a pretty pretty princess?
So.. someone hides inside a keep.
He tags up.
50 people suddenly teleports into said keep and takes it without even breaching the walls or gates.
I think the general consensus is,
“Yes, we understand these things take time and yes we’re happy to wait. BUT. The lack of communication throughout this has been annoying and fuel these fires far more than it needed to”
The main issue is that people ignore the communication that actually happens.

outdated but yeap.. here you go, shield skills for the rev, well most of the skills changed over time and dagger turned to OH sword but still…its more likely rev gets shield then dagger in the elite spec
You mean just like all those Elementalist Sword Skills for their Elite Specialization that now seems to point more towards Warhorn?
Or the whole Season 1 finale, that was also datamined but then released completely different from that.
Point is: Datamined information is not confirmed information until it is officially announced.
So your saying the process of checking a bunch of true/false statements, adding to an integer if it finds a true, exporting that as a single integer variable, reading that single, and doing a compare against a table with >= functions, is somehow made incredibly more complex by the introduction of repeating the same process, essentially isolated from the first set of flags, against a second account. If thats a huge complexity issue, perhaps some clean up is in order before executing the task on the second data set.
What I’m saying is the process is the same, regardless of number of times its executed, because the number of HOM points on Richard’s account has no bearing on the number of HOM points on Eric’s account.
But that is just the thing. Even if it was that “easy”, something doing that “easy” thing does not currently exist. Thus why it takes time, because they have to actually create it in the first place. And due to what it is actually doing (messing with account-data and such) they need to be 110% sure that nothing will go wrong, which will requite massive amounts of testing.
Unavoidable? Because testing is so unheard of.
So they should test every single line of code in the whole game every single time they make every single change?
That means they will literally never be able to release anything.
You play a class of Giants and don’t want the bosses to be small?
We have 5 classes and only 1 one them are giants,I don’t think the game should adapt to them, they should adapt, its 4 vs 1
I am rather sure that Charr can be as large as Norn actually,
but still 3 vs 2.
Good MMO’s don’t really need to have an expiration-date, so 3 years is nothing.. but that only holds true in you indeed keep updating this sort of things. So the game only really ages if you let it age.
One of the reasons that WoW is so successful is because of this (they do use DX11 and will likely implement DirectX 12).
Are you honestly thinking that the reason WoW is successful is due to them using DX11?
You are aware that it was successful before they made that upgrade as well, right?
This have been stated over and over and over and over and over again.
The price for the expansion is $49,99. Even without the inclusion of the free base game the price would be $49,99.
Not if servers are designated NA prime, eu prime, sea prime, OCX prime etc…. You can still join any server, but prim time ppt would be different than non prime. Only people that are hurt / count less are the ones that choose to play non prime instead of joining the proper server where they would be playing prime…..
So, they should basically create a minimum of 3 servers for every prime time in the whole world?
And that would basically also mean that you would only ever face the exact same servers every match up.
Not everyone have a standard 9-5 job and thus they simply CAN’T play at prime time. It is not really a matter of choice.
There will be two maps in HoT.
It is possible that there will come more in the future but as for the expansion there will be those two maps available for Guild Halls.
There have been plenty of solutions that were way better than what we have now, fair even. There have been hundreds of ideas and there have been threads on it since the match-ups went to a week long. Give points based on population balance of when they were taken. That doesn’t punish any one timezone, it punishes those that cap against no one and rewards taking things when populations are higher. It’s not perfect, but it’s fair. It’s also 1000x better than ArenaNet’s current solution, which is nothing.
ArenaNet simply doesn’t care, 3 years and they’ve done nothing. There is no excuse for that. The system they have now does not work, that was known since launch. Night capping has been an issue for as long as PvP objectives have been in MMO’s. DAOC had alarm clock raids, SWG had base timers to combat it, WAR had nightcapping issues. This is not something that is new and having no solution is worse than at least trying something, at least WAR tried making zones harder to capture based on population imbalance. It’s not that they don’t have a good solution, it’s that they don’t want to put the time/money into fixing it because the population isn’t there anymore to warrant it. Of course the population isn’t there anymore because ArenaNet has done nothing with WvW and focused on LS.
But those suggestions DOES punish people that play outside of the main primetime of the servers they are facing. So basically it is punishing certain primetimes. It does also add a situation where people might rage and demand that others leave the map in order to decrease the point the enemy gets for capping stuff and so on.
It is not a viable solution to the problem.
ArenaNet have done nothing because no matter what they do, they will punish certain players, and that is not what they want to do.
All in all, the solutions people bring are always “change impact of people playing other times than prime-time” something that is directly punishing people that can’t play in primetime.
not impossible. just that anet is unwilling to do so. see various other threads.
Except that none of the other threads actually give a good solution for it.
It is mainly: “Give less points when people play outside of MY prime-time”. Which really doesn’t work, considering as the game is global and thus there is always primetime somewhere.
Nope i have tried. The smallest Norn character i have still is much bigger then some of the bosses and there still hard to see. Besides if i have to make all my characters small just for a better game play experience during boss fights what is the point of even having the option during character creation.
And if all the bosses are going to be massive, what is the point of having any other bosses than Giants?
Heck, I have both a full size Norn and a full size Charr, and I really don’t see the issues you are talking about in this thread, so I am not sure how much of an issue it actually is.
I personally prefer that the enemies I face actually look “real” not unrealistically enlarged just for the sake of it.
You can of course solve this “issue” by simply making your character smaller.
I can’t speak for Everquest. But, most players, like most populations, don’t consider the costs of subsidizing goods and services.
This would not be an issue if those who are being forced to subsidize others were given value for their money.
The veteran character slot is an example of providing value to the veteran. But, I think it is a very small value. I’d like to see some more value. Anet and I disagree on the value of the veteran character slot. I’d like to see some gems included in the deal for the veteran player purchasing the standard edition.
In short, I want to see more value for my subsidizing new players.
I suppose we are completely disregarding the value of having access to the game for potentially years?
Used the forge for fun
So, you used the forge on a kittenton of FREE and unlimited Exotics and now you are mad that you won’t get to keep the Precursor you got that way…?
Actually increased population would initially mean WORSE matchmaking, due to the new players not having any indications of how good or bad they are, and are thus just put into matches totally blind.
Don’t you get five, plus one for HoT pre-purchase, and one to use during the beta?
No, you get one.
If you create a new account you get the five that comes with the core game.
As said in your identical reddit post (which you seem to have abandoned):
Or maybe, just maybe, people didn’t want a completely new unfinished profession in their runs? Especially considering that no one is really good at playing any of them at the moment since no one have had the time to really get into the class.
Yes, we know that you want a holy trinity in the game. You have been shouting about it for years. When will you figure out that the game might not be for you and move on?
I don’t see why they wouldn’t, seeing as all PvE is shared across servers already.
How does that work for WvW upgrades tho?
The same way as know I would assume. People that have the ability to claim stuff will still have the ability to claim stuff and so on.
But surely it means they are for the other server in some way and so when they hear team or map chat they are spying?
But what can be done about it?
Unless the communication goes through the game alone (which is unlikely) there is literally nothing ArenaNet can do about it.
While it is indeed rather annoying, it is also something that would be completely impossible to stop.
I don’t see why they wouldn’t, seeing as all PvE is shared across servers already.
Are you using the beta slot?
Of course they can. But the item itself will still be identical. It will still have lets say id_1234567 no matter where it dropped.
And shutting of the drops from one place for specific characters is most likely more work than it is worth. And something like that can also rather easily end up bugged such as removing the drop rates for “real” characters as well and so on.
Fact remains that it is more or less unheard of, of beta characters keeping the loot and stuff they gain during beta. They are simply a separate entity from the real account (thus why they can’t access your guilds and so on.
There is no open (or pre-purchased access) beta announced for the WvW map.
Buying it from another site might be a pre-order rather than a pre-purchase and thus won’t give access to the betas.
If you buy them directly from ArenaNet you get the key at once.
The date of December 29th is also totally made up by the store, since no release date have been announced.
It is also worth pointing out that one should always buy the game from official retailers as can be found here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/retailers/ or on buy.guildwars2.com
I see I was unaware of the unlimited Exos being compatible with the forge
in that case restrict the precursors to random drops only
I am not sure that is actually possible though. From a system point of view the items are most likely identical.
If you do get a pre-cursor you can’t keep it. The Revenant Beta slot is a copy of what was in your bank and wallet, and is separate to the rest of your characters. If you put 15 pre-cursors in your bank on your Revenant, then switched characters to a normal one, there will be no precursors when your character gets to the bank.
So don’t worry – there’s no exploitable issue.
And to the OP – it’s not cruel – the big letters above the screen of all Beta Characters clearly say progress will not be saved – and the words are there all the time.
You are missing the point.
The post you quoted is an answer to the OPs post about making people allowed to keep the Precursors they get, and thus it can easily be exploited in such a way as the poster you quoted stated.
Context is important.
I still don’t get why people use the Mystic Forge with a beta character.
EVeryone with any sort of knowledge of how beta testing works should be fully aware that it is almost 100% certain that the character (and its items) will be removed after the test.
Heck, it even says so on the top of the screen.
Solve off-hours cpas
Solve population imbalances
And these “problems” are basically impossible to solve.
Especially the first one.
Off-hours is different for everyone after all.
The main issue is that the class is built and balanced around having the energy thingy and such. Which means that removing the energy cost would mean basically rebuild and rebalance the whole class.
They aren’t plants.
Sylvari don’t count as plants either.
Risen don’t count as their living version, but as Risen, no matter which race they are.
I stand by my Halloween guess.
For anyone thinking summer…think about it. It is coming up on mid July with no open beta even announced. We are getting a run on Rev this week, but not in new zones. I want it to drop just like you guys, just saying the writing is on the wall. If I am being gleeful…September at best.
The majority of September is still summer actually.
Summer ends on September 22nd.
You have seen the available selection of hair colours and shapes, right? If you haven’t, then pop a total makeover kit on several characters of different races, look closer, and then come back to us with your “realistic looks” talk.
Now, that doesn’t mean i want to see blueskinned humans running around. It’s bad enough i keep seeing purple (or orange)-haired Saiyian charrs regularly now so i am actually glad they cut back on some of the more ridiculous looking choices. It’s just i can see there’s no consequence to that.
Also, i’d like for the human ethnicity choices to be expanded, so we could make characters of elonian and canthan descent.
Yeah, because we all know how unrealistic it is for people to get a haircut or color their hair…. that never happens in the real world after all.
You know what is actually funny? The fact that this whole HoM mess would have never happened if they would actually test their releases. The titles and goodies were handed out only because a portion of code that gave it to new chars was left in the code when it went live. Why? No testing.
So they should basically they should test every single line of code every single time they do every single change? That is basically impossible.
The fact that it turned up after almost three years is rather unlikely, thus it would be rather illogical to test that specific part. Bugs happen, usually even with testing. There is literally nothing that can be done about that, unless you want them to never release anything ever, since if they were to test every single line after every single change they would never be done with anything.
It feels rather pointless to have a specific forum for a class that is not fully announced yet.
Elite Specializations are not the only thing coming with the expansion.
Something tells me that they were not really serious.
Or maybe, just maybe an issue turned up soon after that would have broken something else, so they decided to not go ahead with it?
Rather funny this. People always whine about them not testing stuff enough, but when they actually do test stuff, people whine about them not releasing stuff fast enough.
You are aware that your example itself could be seen as trolling as well, right?
Ah, I do wonder how I managed to miss that part of the blog.
Thanks!
I’m not Colin… but… there wont’ be expansion maps in this test, you will be able to venture out in the live maps anywhere you can currently go with your characters. =)
I am assuming that the answer to this is yes, but while you are on the line I might as well ask to get it confirmed:
Can I bring a Revenant to my WvW raid on Saturday?
Because last time there was a tournament people complained about it like mad and said that they never wanted a tournament again and that ArenaNet should work on changes in WvW rather than having tournaments with the exact same WvW as before.
It is of course also worth pointing out that since the test will happen on the live server it will be impossible to have an NDA since people will be able to see the Revenants running around ^^
Hahahah this is awesome
Hop into World vs. World between July 17 and July 24 to experience our newest special event, Golem Rush, where siege golems are better, faster, and stronger!
During the special event, all golems will be supercharged and have the following effects:
All siege golems in WvW no longer require supply to construct.
All siege golems in WvW will deal 100% additional damage to other golems and players.
All siege golems in WvW will move at 100% additional movement speed.
I wonder if this is a reaction to all the complaining about Golems in WvW…
It is going to be glorious.
