Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
I have had a character in each of the orders.
I personally simply find the Order of Whispers to be most interesting and fun to play. Especially the early parts. I also find the OoWs method of fighting the Dragons to be most logical from a character point of view at the time.
Yes.
There is usually never a reason to not change map. The request to change turns up for a reason after all.
And loose 15% when selling? Bad idea. Stop defending Anets decisions even if they only inconvenience 1% of the players.
So the 1% should dictate and control how the game is developed? Really?
Did you play during Living Story season 1?
That was temporary content. People raged like mad about them “wasting resources” on creating stuff that would be removed and never used again soon after.
sn’t that exactly what would have been the case with this as well? They would have developed content that would only ever be used for a few weeks at most and then never be seen again.
It just seems rushed and half@ssed the way it is being done now. I would have gladly waited an extra couple for expansion in order to see it done right.
People are already complaining about the expansion not being released yet. I find it highly unlikely that they would like to wait potentially months extra just to get a couple of Lion’s Arch (temporary) updates.
Is it really that much more coding? It’s just a couple little quests, I’m sure a single competent coder could have done it in a week or two.
“A couple little quests” is quite a bit more work than people would think.
They would need to add NPCs for it, they would need to add items/mobs/pathing/objects for it. They would need to test and make sure that it would not break something else. They would also need to create several completely different versions of the map (to show the progress of the rebuilding and so one).
I suppose using the word coders was a mistake though. Should have used developers, seeing as it would also need more than just coders.
And even a few weeks is time that needs to be taken away from the expansion. ArenaNet is not a massive company with thousands upon thousands of developers. They are a relatively small company with around 300 employees in total (and that includes everyone, including support-staff and other non-developing employees).
They missed a great opportunity with LA. Reconstruction should have started a year ago and have included participation from the players. Nothing big, just little side quests to go along side the living stories like “go recruit this engineer”, “build supply lines across Tyria”, “Help clean up this mess” and slowly rebuild. It would have been interactive and much more immersive than what we got.
It would also require much more coding and thus delayed the expansion.
What makes you think space as such exists in the world of Tyria? We have the Mists which are being accessed now and then.
But alright, let us say that the planet Tyria have the exact same atmosphere as Earth. There is currently nothing in lore that suggests that the technology to go into space exist. In fact the highest up we have gotten based on lore is lower than a modern day airplane.
The Dragons are as far as we are aware not trying to destroy Tyria. There are things that suggest the complete opposite in fact.
We do not now the limitations of Asura gates, only that they seem to be rather hard to calibrate and maintain in lore (as seen in Edge of Destiny).
In a 1v1 situation the scale is already tipping over to Condi vs Power and now come on…
While true it is worth pointing out that the game have never and most likely will never be balanced around 1v1.
Yes, it is going to be more conditions around. But that simply means that people have to work more as a team and focus their condition cleanses and such.
Things that might (with emphasis on might) be a part of the ‘feature patch’:
- Core specializations.
- Condi changes.
- Break bars.
- Guild leaderboards.
- New WvW borderlands.
- WvW changes.
- Stronghold.
- Personal story changes.
- Lion’s Arch update.
- Wallet changes. All of these are confirmed upcoming changes that are not a part of HoT. I might have missed a few things though.
While they might not require HoT, the marked things will still very much be released with HoT as far as we know.
Unless you had the staff in on your character (or account-bound in the inventory) it would not unlock. It only unlocked account-bounds stuff you had at that point, not stuff you had in the past.
Yes.
The achievements are unlocked by the character that have completed the instance in “story mode”:
umm no, it’s not, the HoM was down when the bug happened to begin with, why i dont know, but those that got gwamm never got any skins.
I am quite certain that HoM was TAKEN DOWN when the bug happened in order to stop people from getting the items.
That doesn’t always have the latest patch notes listed.
The official Wiki usually has up to date info http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates
And where do said wiki get their information…?
The wiki is updated by the players. The players don’t have patch notes until ArenaNet post patch notes. Which they do in the forum-section he linked.
400 gems is the cost of a SINGLE unlock today.
Suddenly unlocking three times as much for the same price will not happen.
Problem is we don’t know their planned release window. They could have always planned for fall as the release window. Its been us players that kept placing the release before the end of summer.
Of course. But based on the information flow and compared to the information flow at this point during 2012, it seems rather likely that they are planning a release in the same general time of the year.
There was also this comment made by one of the marketing people last weekend (or the weekend before) that mentioned that they were planning on launching the expansion “this summer”.
There is more than one person working in Customer Support.
If you are not content with the resolution and post in the supplied thread, it is very likely that another official will check it (that is rather standard procedure in those cases when it comes to CS, if people are unhappy with a resolution they are usually not sent to the same person again).
This is my thinking too. They specifically added the word content. If it was just next update it would just said that. We have no idea when the next content update will be. We could get several updates like we got today before we get a content update.
Indeed.
But on the other hand it could also be to “protect” themselves from people raging about not adding it in via potential hotfixes needed after todays update.
It does however make sense to release it within a month due to the WTS final. If they do not they will basically need to wait until after WTS which is the end of August, and it is rather likely that they are giving us the changes to traits before HoT in order to make sure the system is stable before they launch the Elite Specializations with HoT.
So not giving us that until end of August would probably suggest that they have no plans to release the expansion until late fall which seems unlikely.

Unless the ticket is actually closed it is better to just reply and explain that there might have been misunderstandings than to bring it up here. Especially since no one here can do anything (and since we don’t know the whole story we can’t really comment much on it either).
We don’t know it’s close to being fixed. They said it’s closed to being fixed.
Ah, silly me. We should of course assume that they are outright lying.
No one wants to lose credit for their guild activities because of a hidden game mechanic, either.
Do you have any alternate suggestions for addressing the issue?
It is not hidden.
The guild mission is an event. Every single event in the game require that you stay in the map until it is over in order to get credit.
It have clearly worked for years, so it can keep working. Adding the ability to grief however will make stuff worse.
Adding something into the guild that can be used to griefing will lead to griefing, and that is not something anyone wants.
They say next content update.
I would be very surprised if it comes before the WTS final(in August) since it will completely alter the current balance and meta.
This means it is still quite faraway.
Why would they start advertise it this early if it is still almost three months away though? It is not an expansion after all, but rather just an update. Which they wanted to launch before HoT for a reason.
And after WTS there will be another tournament that would be effected and so on.
If they release it on the 26th, that means there are like 2 months or something for people to prepare and adjust before WTS final.
1) How could that even be possible?
2) They can still add the crown pavilion.
Because that is how development work.
They potentially could, but there might be issues with that as well.
How is Phoenix, a creature that is known to rise again from the death, not linked to the history of Lion’s Arch?
Lion’s Arch have been destroyed multiple times, and every time it have risen again. Just like a phoenix.
None of them claimed to have a living world with biweekly updates.
That does of course also include Guild Wars 2.
Never in any way or form they did ever claim that there would always be releases every other week forever. In fact, they have only ever claimed said thing during the times when said thing actually happened.
What if the guild leader is a kitten and decided to complete it as soon as he/she have done it (and the number of completions is right in the case of Rush) and just completes it while leaving half the guild without any rewards for it?
Jaqen is very much a Mesmer.
I dont want to sound like an kitten but this wont get fixed for another year or so it has already been 5 months
.
We already know that they are close to getting it fixed. So for all we know it can be fixed in a potential patch today.
Spreading BS that it will not be fixed for another year or so (and then use false information to “confirm” it) is just silly.
We will get the next specialization when they are ready to give us the next specialization.
The items tagged like that are leaving in 3 hours.
In an ironic twist – the forum rules are enforced faster and with more authority than the in-game ones.
Which is logical.
Forum rules are very easy to enforce. As soon as someone breaks a rule that can be enforced.
In-game violations however require actually making sure a rule was broken and it was not just either a false report or an issue created by lag or rubberbanding.
Sure, they could go around and auto-ban people in-game as soon as they are reported, but that is definitely not the way to go.
Massive amounts of loot? You must be speaking about a different game, right?
Being able to kill an unlimited amount of mobs without even moving did generate rather massive amounts of loot rather fast yes.
Remember when people didn’t abuse unlimited spawns in instances to get massive amounts of loot?
But how much more did we really know?
The vast majority of the content of the game were completely unknown until the game was actually released.
^ Indeed.
This change does not really hurts gold sellers and on top of that ANet has another tools to identify and deal with RMT. But it does really hurt different groups of players involved in all kinds of activities in this game (which includes but not limited to WvW guilds, RP guilds, service selling, transferring funds between alt accounts, playing together with F&F etc)
I don’t see the point to continue this convo since you just keep twisting my words over and over again.
Have a nice day.
It does. It makes it much more of a fuss to get the gold you have bought, which might make people not bothering with it, seeing as the main reason (I assume) people do it in the first place is to get a large amount of gold at once.
The fact still remains that none of the effected activities are supported by ArenaNet and thus they shouldn’t take them into consideration when making changes. Simple as that.
So you seriously suggest that they should base their actions against gold sellers around unsupported things people do in the game?
Something being allowed is not the same as something being supported.
It is fully allowed (and possible) to trade via mail, but if you get scammed ArenaNet will not help you, seeing as you are using an unsupported feature.
Dungeon selling is not unsupported.
It is.
They tolerate it, but they do in no way or form actively support it.
I dont even know… Maybe to allow people to have fun playing the game the way they want to… Guild raffles are unsupported activities too but they help building the community, as well as many other “unsupported” things in this game. If something is unsupported that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to ruin it.
What if people are having fun by hacking? Should they start allowing that as well then?
Or maybe they are having fun by stalking or abusing people? Should that also be allowed then?
No one is talking about ruining anything, but you seems to think that they should actively take UNSUPPORTED things into account when they are making changes to the game, which is silly.
People are aware that we didn’t really know much more than this before original release as well, right?
Here is the direct link to create a request with support:
https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new
From there he should be able to select account issue and Terminated/Suspended Account and supply as much information as possible.
He need to contact support about it, which can be done under the Services tab here on the forums.
I believe you misreading what I was saying. No one requests for any kind of “support” for dungeon selling or other services selling. All we asking about – don’t ruin our game experience.
Some people choose to spend 1-2 hours in a daily pug fractals, some choose to spend 5 min and buy a run. The more choices the better.
But why should they in any way or form take unsupported activities into account when developing the game?
So you are saying the people that work on WvW don’t read the WvW forums?
I mean…judging by the changes they are making you are probably right.
No, I am saying that people that work on WvW are probably not the same people that handle bugs. It would make sense to have a specific bug team so to speak which focuses on bugs while they also had a WvW team that focused on new things and/or changes.
I’m sure Anet people are just as likely to see it in this section as they are in any other based on how often they shutdown threads and infract posts in here.
Moderators != Devs.
Question 1: Yes
Question 2: Unknown as yet, assume between 20-40 bucks
How is it mandatory?
You will still be able to play everything currently available in the game without HoT.
They can indeed check both forums. But the people that are working with bugs are not the same people that usually hangs around here. Therefore it is a much swifter process to post it in the right forum section at once rather than having a moderator simply move the thread and/or have one of the WvW people telling one of the bug people about the bug.
Why not remove the middle-man and just give it to the right people at once?
You also seem to use the word griefing in an incorrect way.
Wait until you have the person who just griefed me and tells us all to post in the “Bug” forum which almost never gets an answer due to the fact that all of the issues scroll out far too fast.
I don’t think you know what griefing means.
I simply linked you to the correct forum to post your thread. Simple as that. The only thing that will happen with you posting it here will be that a moderator will move it to the bug forums, so it is simply a waste of time for everyone involved.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
And yet it is the place where it is most likely to be seen by the right people.
Fact remains that this is a thread that is supposed to be over there rather than over here.
