Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
After the 2 weeks without squat i was hoping for another spec reveal or mabye some more info on Challenging content.
You might not care for Lion’s Arch and WvW but plenty of people do. And for those people the information have been rather massive. More or less rebuilding a main system in WvW is quite a bit more than nothing.
Information is information even if you are not interested.
Here is an example of that being confusing/bad. Beta spoilers ahead:
Say you are a Rev and you enter Maguuma to rescue people. You fight several waves of Mordrem until you are faced against the mounted rider which Rytlock jumps out to attack. You then proceed the fight and win.
Then Kas says, “What is that new magic you’re using?” To Rytlock.
While, as a Rev, I had been using the SAME king of magic since the start. Kas SHOULD know about it, especially if I played through LS2 with my Rev.
New magic can refer to a specific ability. Such as the Dragon (I believe he uses that specifically). And if the Dragon stance is the Elite Specialization, we simply might not have access to it until after that instance (we don’t know how they are unlocked as of yet as far as I am aware).
The Mist works in mysterious ways.
It can easily be explained by simply returning at a point earlier on in the history of Tyria after going into the Mist and training as a Revenant.
Ugh, I had something typed out but the forums wiped it. I’ll try and re-type it…
I like a lot of this lore info except for one thing:
How does Anet justify Revenants being able to kill Zhaitain if Rytlock is the “world’s first Revenant” and by the time he returns Zhaitan is already dead?
The only thing I could come up with is that Revenants are affected by some funky Mists time shenanigans that simulate the experience of killing Zhaitan in the past and, when we finish that, we are returned to the “normal” timeline where we are right now. I would like to see them make some sort of official statement about this, because it’s a bit difficult to see making sense at the moment…
The Mist works in mysterious ways.
Professions have never effected the Personal Story.
It seems rather weird that they would suddenly make a completely new personal story for a single new profession due to that.
It doesn’t make the timeline any more wonky than going to do the Personal Story as a Reaper for example.
It is not a normal specialization. It is a core of the profession itself.
A bit like an elementalists fire attunement or a necromancers death shroud.
I have seen plenty of speculation that we would get one legend and one weapon revealed “each time” actually. Something along the lines of 3 weeks of Elite Specializations, 2 weeks of something else, 1 week with another Revenant Legend and weapon, 3 weeks of Elite Specializations, 2 weeks of something else, 1 week with Revenant Legend and weapon and so on.
It’s a normal specialization. That doesn’t carry nearly the same weight as an elite specialization does for the profession. It doesn’t get unique weapons. It has the same profession mechanic. It’s nothing special.
It is a part of a completely new profession. Which we KNEW would have more blog posts. In fact I would say this carry MORE weight than an elite specialization, seeing as it gives us information about the very core of the profession.
You might not care about it, but that doesn’t make it useless information.
Heck, there are people that don’t care about the elite specializations at all, and yet we don’t see them here every week there is a elite specialization whining about not getting what they are interested in.
So did the bug affect GW1? Not sure why they can’t program something to verify GW1 progression and then sync/overwrite actual progression with all linked GW2 accounts. Why would an actual person be required to check each account?
It did not.
It is not a matter of checking which is the rightful receiver or not however. It is simply the fact that they don’t (or didn’t) have the tools to mass-remove stuff from accounts.
But making completely new tool for something (especially when the vast majority of the coders are working on an expansion) takes time.
Is close gonna be this weekend, or even this week? Or close meaning in a few months, instead of a few years?
Regular updates always happens on Tuesdays nowadays. Unless there is something very broken that need asap fixing and then they will launch a hot-fix when they have a fix.
This issue does not effect the playability of the game at all, so they will just push it out together with a regular patch.
We don’t know.
They will reveal it when they are ready to reveal it.
I really want those Black Feather Wings again. A day? Really?
It was made rather clear that they were there for a day AS A SNEAK PEEK with the real release of them coming later.
A very high amount. I don’t know exactly but it is most likely quite a bit over $1000
Once again, this game was specifically built with two week releases in mind. Those of us who have played since release are out of content. Period. And have been beating on the same content for some time.
And again, I can’t just leave. I run a guild.
Was it? The two week releases started half a year after release after all. If it was specifically built with it in mind, why did they wait half a year before starting with it?
I have played since head-start (over 1000 days now) and I still have stuff to do. Sure, it is mainly the same stuff (I mainly play WvW) but anyone with any sort of acceptance of reality KNOWS that it is completely impossible for a company to create content faster than people complete it.
I have been “out of content” since basically a day after the last content patch. It is not something that magically happened recently. That will happen in every single game.
Why can’t you leave because you run a guild? Don’t you keep pointing out how no one in the guild is logging in due to nothing to do? So why would it matter if you left or not? Apparently the people in the guild doesn’t play anyway.
You need to understandd that you know as little as we do, unless you have worked on GW2 code or are a member of Anet’s staff. So yeah, bringing back old content might be as simple as pressing a magic button or take several guys weeks to test it thoroughly. We both don’t know, but you keep going with the assumption that fits your agenda and state it as a fact.
One does not need to have worked on a specific project in order to understand that things created years ago before a massive amount of changes will need testing before re-release.
Heck, I can code something today, and one week from now it might no longer work as intended due to changes that have been made during that week.
Ill remain forever baffled why an online virtual store removes stock.
Evon has a blog? Im nor against comms going thro such things, but why not add a link to the homepage so ppl know such a thing exists? Ive never heard of it.
It is on the front page of the official page.
People need to understand that you can’t just press a button and stuff magically work.
It is quite likely that it will have issues due to changes made since it was last available. Which would require fixing. Which would require taking manpower away from the expansion and such would potentially mean delaying work on said expansion.
If they would at least bring back stuff like SAB, crown pavillon or wvw tournaments to fill the gap
And thus push the release of the expansion back?
They have more or less said that there will be no new content between now and release of the expansion.
Something that we have told you EVERY SINGLE WEEK when you have made the more or less exact same thread.
Until we hear something else, there will be no new content.
And what should they add to the gem store instead to weight up the loss of income from putting everything in the game?
^ Now that would be lovely! Especially for raid night!
Maybe.
Very unlikely though.
It is actually very unlikely that we will get much if any content before HoT.
Tomorrow is also Stronghold beta and it seems unlikely that they would want to risk bugging something out for that.
The last three?
We are missing six reveals.
And no, we do not know when they will come. There is no public schedule.
There might be some slight hints in this video:
“We’re about to launch a expansion for GW2 in this summer.”
1: This is not a forum for GW1 discussion.
2: ArenaNet does not involve themselves in guild politics.
3: An officer or the leader can kick people.
I am guessing a lore post.
We are overdue one of those by now after all.
Trying to get people to buy keys and implement such an rng on the chest is not a scam you say?
A scam would require ArenaNet to not give you what you paid for.
What you did pay for was a key that would unlock a chest that had a bunch of potential drops. You are always guaranteed to get some of those drops. Therefore you get exactly what you paid for, ergo not a scam.
“PvP only armor”
You mean like http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Glorious_armor and http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Glorious_Hero%27s_armor ?
Ranks have never had anything at all to do with prestige since the only thing it ever did was show that you had spent much time.
Black lion scam, no thanks I’d rather not play that terrible rng game.
You keep using that word. I don’t think it means what you think it means.

Exactly.
Just like how things in other oh so challenging encounters in other games won’t happen if people do what they are supposed to do.

Yeah except in triple troubles case the “this and this” is only numbers and basic organisation. Whereas in actual challenging fights it requires each individual player to pay attention, contribute and correctly time dodges. The only thing people ever dodge on TT is the spin thing. But if people fail to dodge that it has pretty much no impact on the success of the group.
Besides having to dodge once per burn phase is really engaging. /s
There are plenty of situation with TT where a single player making a mistake can make the event fail actually. The head part for instance. If some people decide to move another place than the main group the wurm might target said player and thus end up in the wrong place for the kill and so on.
Or the color filling thing, if people keep filling it up and going for the kill despite the other two wurms not being ready yet and so on.

Triple Trouble is not remotely challenging. It is an organisation and numbers check. Once those are sorted its completely faceroll.
Can’t that be said about everything though?
Once you fulfill this and this thing it is a complete faceroll?

Have you done Triple Trouble Wurm?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Triple Trouble and Tequatl is also still challenging to many players.
Good luck completing Triple Trouble on a fully pug-map for example.
People seems to have different standards for different games.
For some games something is challenging if it is challenging for everyone. But in others it is apparently challenging as long as “many people” find it challenging. We should use the same line of thinking for all games otherwise the comparison is rather unfair and faulty.
Why would they give us an added bonus?
HoM rewards being unusable for a while does in no way or form effect the playability of the game. Therefore there is no reason to compensate.
But the work done is not comparable as such either, seeing as they must take waaaay more stuff into account when making a skin for an MMO. At the very least they need to take all races and genders into consideration, which means 10 things already there. Then there is also the different professions that uses the weapons differently so we would have to take those into account as well.
I would potentially agree with being able to buy tickets directly with gems IF the weapons were not trade-able. But they are. You can get every single Black Lion skin without ever using any gems whatsoever.
It is of course also worth pointing out that it is a matter of income. What should they add into the store to weight up the losses from removing the tickets from the Black Lion Chests?
Which comes to the part about “all kitten breaks loose”.
If they suddenly start removing certain submitted entries people will rage like mad and complain about how the voting system is pointless and so on due to ArenaNet being able to basically select which can be voted on in the first place.
I hate to do this but lets compare this to league of legends. When pulsefire ezreal came out he was around $25 dollars. Lets compare the work put into pulsefire ezreal compared to a ticket weapon. Ticket weapons have special effects, some have sound effects. Pulsefire ezreal has completely redone sounds, all of his abilities have been reworked visually, he has 3 stages where he changes visually. Does 20 dollars sound like a reasonable price point when compared to pulsefire ezreal?
It is of course worth pointing out that said skin can (unless they have changed how it works) only be bought with RPs, which requires real money while gems can be bought with in-game gold.
It is also worth pointing out that a skin in a MMO is a completely different beast compared to a skin in a very controlled and limited game.
While a system like that would be nice, it would also rather quickly get abused.
Player A makes a totally out of place item.
Player A gets a bunch of friends to vote for said item.
ArenaNet is forced to add said out of place item or else all kitten breaks loose.

Can people name a single thing in any MMO that is more than a week month old that is challenging?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: lordkrall.7241
And how many of those are still considered “challenging?” Anet can create good challenging content, problem is with the power creep that “challenging content” is rapidly reduced to farm status. Not really to blame it on the current issue with the meta, but with the increase in the condi cap it should provide an interesting way to play in a sense and not afk left spamming 1. I like the emphasis of them saying you’ll use EVERY skill/Utility in your bar. (Think Wurm day 1, but harder than that.)
The problem isnt can they create a challenge, more it’s can they maintain said challenge.
Everything will become “easy” or at the very least “not challenging” when people know how to do it.
That is simply the nature of games. Unless the fights are 100% random and completely AI controlled (such as the mobs actually learning and so on) sooner or later everything will become easy after a while.
The main issue is that we already know that certain content will only be doable at a certain level of Mastery. Locking that behind what is basically grinding for 50-100 hours will go against what GW2 is all about.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: lordkrall.7241
Well they clearly can do it. There have been at least five fights that can be considered raid-level fights.
New Tequatl. Triple Trouble Wurms, Vinewrath, Marionette and Lion’s Arch Watchwork Knights.
They have also hired a raid designer some time back.

^ Have you tried Triple Trouble Wurm?
50-100 hours is more than it takes to get to max level in the first place.
Now lets say that you want to max all Masteries and there are 10 of them. That means 500-1000 hours to do that, which is more time than many people have even spent in the game in total.
While I do see your point it is worth pointing out that the Llama is supposed to be a prestigious and somewhat rare reward. Allowing everyone to get them basically without any restrictions would diminish that quite a bit.
There should be more ways to get it (due to the high amount of them needed for the upgrades) but having a way to easily farm them whenever you want is probably not the way.

Do you ever stop trolling?
I did not intend my post as trolling. I am genuinely interested in which MMOs have better AI.
People rather often bring up how much better other games are at X thing, but they more or less never actually give examples.

If the servers were actually down it would have lead to a massive amounts of posts here, which there clearly hasn’t. So I am afraid that the issue is indeed on your (or your internet suppliers) side rather than ArenaNets side.
I have played quite a bit these last three days and the server have not been down a single second of that time.

Your AI is sad for 2015 era, sorry aNet, i’m with you since GW1 beta, i know you can do better….
So where are all these other MMOs with so much better AI? (And no, the AI in GW1 was not even remotely close).
So.. basically why isn’t Guild Wars 2 a completely different game? Have you ever thought that Guild Wars 2 was simply not for you?
Very unlikely.
