Nope…
See there are different aspects of challenging, you can make something’s execution challenging. I’d point to Lupi solos. I can’t do it right now, but I do understand exactly how it should be done, I just end up too slow on dodge buttons or get jumbled up and confused on my rotation of defenses leaving me attempting to use toolkit block when it’s not available and I eat a hit. It has a high level of challenge for it’s execution.
And yet there are people that solo lupi without any sort of issues whatsoever. Ergo it is no longer challenging. When you have learned to do something it will no longer be challenging.
A bit like reading. When you start learning to read it is extremely challenging, but when you have learned to do it there is no challenge in it whatsoever.

^Everything is very easy when you know how to do it.
A physical box? Please link the source for this. GW2 has their online store and literally everything for the game can be bought through that. Why would they force us to buy physical copies instead of just a digital package?
What?
My post was about the fact that he have no idea if they have gotten the advanced warning or not.
As for the fact that there will be a physical box: That have been known since the announcement more or less as seen here:
Q: Will this expansion only be available digitally, or will there be a boxed edition as well?
A: Both. Once Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is available, you’ll be able to buy it digitally or get boxed editions at retail stores.

Challenging content? …..
After the NPE and its resulting portrayal of what ArenaNet feels new players are capable of, which is next to nothing, how can you have so much faith in anything “challenging”?
Have you completed Triple Trouble Wurm?
At this point we’re to September at the earliest because Heart of Thorns is a physical box and that means minimum 3-4 months notice to retailers to get shelf space.
And how do you know that they haven’t gotten one?
But if you look relatively to their real-life size the head is about as big as that.
We don’t know.
I am guessing a blog about Outposts and/or day/night cycle tomorrow due to them being playable in the beta.
Have people seen all these ridiculous looking frogs that runs (jumps?) around in the real world?
No information yet, but I would venture a guess that it will be here before the end of June.
Ehm, spoilers.
And also: It is probably a very low priority right now and thus they haven’t finalized them yet.
I do play the game, and I have played the Bad Ice instance multiple times. I admit that I have not spent much time in HotW but from what I remember there is also nothing at all in there that proves what you are trying to claim.
You seems to love to claim stuff as facts here on the forums but you usually never supply any actual proof.
The game was remade from the ground up… by your logic it has been 11 years since guild wars launched so that is how long this expansion has been in the making.
So if they shut down GW2 today and re-launched it with the release of HoT, the release date of the game would be the launch of HoT rather than the original release of the game?
Guild Wars 2 is a completely different game than GW1 (not even the same genre) whilst A Realm Reborn is still Final Fantasy XIV.
If it was not an expansion I suppose we can go back to the fact that it was 5 years since the game was released and thus 5 years between release and first expansion as opposed to 3 years between release of GW2 and first expansion.
GW2 has been in development since 2007, which would be 8 years so far. FFIV:ARR had a total revamp from scratch and started development around 2011-2012.
GW2 was released in 2012 with its first expansion (most likely) coming in 2015 (3 years)
FFXIV was released in 2010 with its first expansion released in 2013 (3 years) with the second expansion coming 2015 (2 years after first one and 5 years after original release).
None of those gives any sort of proof whatsoever that they did not willingly submit to the corruption as far as I am aware.

ummm were on a mega server if there servers are not going to get stress unless you get players not playing gw2 in there and expand the numbers of players
That is not how it works. The megaserver is not unlimited in size. Each shard is also dynamic so they might want to test if they can have more people in each shard for example.

The upcoming closed beta will help us test the stability of our new PvE outpost-event content structure.
this was a stress test of their servers basically.
Actually it was more of a stability test of the new outpost system rather than a stress test of the servers.
A Realm Reborn was a massive content drop in a new box. By any reasonable definition of the word, that qualifies as an expansion even if it was branded as a relaunch.
Fair point I suppose.
But that still means 3 years after launch, and then the next two years after that. So it really wouldn’t be considered any faster than GW2 despite what people want to claim.
I got into the first beta. After the beta was over i deleted the character and now the slot is gone.
Which might simply mean that you were not invited to this one.
Shouldn’t effect the ability to check the stability of the outpost system.
so whats not in the beta?
Based on what I have heard (don’t have access):
Elite Specializations.
The majority of the expansion content.
The full Revenant.
The new trait system.
FF XIV is a re-release of a game released in 2010. That is 5 years ago.
We have no information yet.
But with them starting up closed beta now it is probably getting rather close to an announcement at least.
A HoT sized expansion every 3 years is obviously unacceptable.
And yet a FF sized expansion every five years is totally okay? We should use the original FF-release after all.
Colin clearly stated, during HoT very first presentation, that what they were showing is what HoT’s about to avoid people from guessing that more stuff would be released. So yeah, that presentation covered EVERYTHING HoT will have.
So.. how much information did they reveal about Outposts and Adventures during said announcement? (hint, it was a grand total of nothing at all) And yet these things seems to be a rather large part of the new maps.
Are there any actual proof that it could corrupt people forcefully though? As far as I recall we never had any point of view character that got corrupted therefore we have no real confirmation about if it can force the corruption or not.
It is of course worth pointing out that “inheriting” a name is technically against the ToS since you are not allowed to share/sell/give away your account.
And while 1 time only is somewhat better (but lets be honest, people are going to come up with reasons for getting more than 1 change as well) but it still doesn’t change a rather major issue with being able to change it: You can troll like mad and then just request a name change and no longer have to stand for what you did.
They will reveal them when they are ready to reveal them.
Even if they gave one guy the task of removing titles/achivements one at a time. In the two or so months that have passed, im sure if he spent all the time working on it it would have been done by now.
Every day that passes that we get no response, no eta, and no HoM is just a giant middle finger to everyone who earned everything legit.
Plz update or fix this anet, I’m growing tired of waiting :/
Lets say that there are 3 million accounts.
Now lets say 500 000 of those wrongfully got the titles/achievements.
That means that said employee would need to go through about 8333 accounts per day every day (including weekends) for two months.
And that is of course assuming that all said employee does is doing this, which is extremely unlikely that NCSoft would pay for.
Yes, it is annoying that it is not fixed yet, but is it really worse to have to wait a bit (for stuff that you WILL get when it is fixed) than to have people running around with titles/achievements they have not earned?
They have given a response. In this very thread in fact.
Read the whole blog post.
More specifically this part:
The upcoming closed beta will help us test the stability of our new PvE outpost-event content structure.
It is not a bug-finding beta but mainly a stability one.
It also seems rather clear that the area that are accessible is rather small, so 3*2 hours should be plenty of time to run through all or at least most of it several times.
Given the fact that the VAST majority of GW2 playerbase resides in the EU, I do not see why these times are so NA-centric. Still, I’ll play during one of the time slots for sure.
Given the fact that the WHOLE ArenaNet resides in the US I do not see why people are suprised that the times are NA-centric.
I’m going to call bull-gravy, absent proof. This does not fit my memory of the sequence. As I recall, ANet was surprised that people wanted more PvE stuff to do, which is why Sorrow’s Furnace was put in.
It started out as a complete PvP game with some minor PvE as a “tutorial”, but sometime during Alpha they figured out that people wanted PvE, that is why they added a whole freaking PvE storyline to the game (which was all in all bigger than the available PvP-types at launch).
^ Which is exactly my point.
It is literally impossible to stop 4v5 since you can’t force people to play.

What I found odd is that the beta is on a Tuesday rather than anywhere on the weekend (actually, a 3-day weekend in the US). Time zones make it even more fun. Whether you are doing it as a test or preview what is the point if most of the team can not be there?
So you find it odd that they do not wish to order their employees into the office during a holiday where many of them would like to spend time with their families?
And indeed, what is the point of doing a test if they team is not there? The team is not there on weekends, therefore the test is during a time when the team is there.
I think Anet should have thought about the times everyone would be on .. the whole world plays GW2 .. this does not mean only the EU wants to do the Beta testing..
So basically: "ArenaNet should have demanded that their employees spend their weekends and/or nights at the office in order to get a beta test on a time where everyone could play?
All I want and what basicly is needed from Anet is to implement an way to stop 4v5 of all kinds and stop hackers from ruining WvW
And how can you stop that? How can you FORCE someone to stay and actively play?
Not quite accurate. GW, as a franchise, started out PvP centric. The focus shift to PvE occured later.
To be fair the shift came before Prophecies were even released.
Indeed, but clearly it could hide quite well. Why is it so impossible that others managed to do it as well?
And yet Tequatl managed to hide for quite some time and wasn’t found until it attacked.
That is of course assuming the Pact knew that there where escaped dragons.
Tequatl did manage to hide quite well until it attacked Sparkfly after all.
Underwater? Deep within the city where the Pact have not penetrated yet?
^Isn’t that just the thing that is taking time though. They don’t have those tools. They can mass-remove stuff like this without first making the tools to do it.
But reporting is only one thing. The main purpose of this beta (which is talked about as a stability beta for the outpost system) is to gather live data and tweak stuff to see if it can work out better. That is not something you can do two days later, that is something you need to do while the test is going on.
ArenaNet need to have people in the office for the full duration of the test, otherwise the test will be rather futile.
That does not mean they were killed however.
It is quite possible that they escaped somewhere when Zhaitan fell.
2 whole new maps is quite a bit more than nothing at all. If they didn’t care they would give us nothing at all. Thus one could come to the conclusion that they do care, seeing as they are giving us stuff.
It is also worth pointing out that we know that WvW maps takes quite some time to make. EotM took over a year. They would not spend that time on a new map if they didn’t care about the game mode.
And yes, the game is divided into 3 parts, but not all 3 parts have as much people playing them. Should they really spend as much time and resources on a part that 10% plays as they do on something that 75% plays? (Numbers are made up).

Beta Weekend Event != closed beta.
Except for the fact that the NA players will be at work or school during quite a bit of the tests you mean? I suppose they can just skip work and/or school then? What is stopping EU people form doing the same? Just skip work one day and stay up all night, problem solved
Anyone that thought that it would be a weekend do only have themselves to blame. Did you really think that they would order people into the office during the weekend just so that you could beta test for them?
There were a large amount of dragons flying around in the skies when we defeated Zhaitan.
If they didn’t, why would they release a completely new mode (and map) for one and a completely new map (including new systems) for the other?
As to why they focus less on that: Because the majority of the playerbase are PvE:ers and it is PvE that generates the most amount of money.
It really is as simple as that.
20:30-22:30 CEST is fully playable from EU, even if you do have a 9-5 job.
The betas are not for our enjoyment but rather for the benefit of ArenaNet. They will do the tests when they can gain the most form them, which is when they are actually in the office.
