I think you should read up on what a scam is.

It contains items that are high in demand but hard to get naturally, especially on high-level characters.

People are aware that if they would allow buying the expansion with gems the gold to gem transfer would be more or less destroyed for quite some time, right?
The price would be so extremely high so that no one would really be able to use it.

I would also suggest you read up on the ToS you signed when you created your account.

Keep in mind that it might not be possible (or very hard) to get Guild Halls on your own depending on how they will work.
If they would require Merits and such for example it could be quite hard for a single person, seeing as you would need to complete Guild Missions for that.

You can probably start giving up already then, since the last reply is the most likely one.
They can’t go around giving people free respecs after every single big change.

It is also a matter of crafting and the market.
If it is assumed (which will be the case if they allow free respecs for this) that future big changes will give respecs, what stops people from just crafting the cheapest Ascended gear and then get it transformed to a “better” set for free with the change?

If you have completed more than 65 skill challenges on those characters they are good to go when the trait update comes.

It is worth pointing out that the core specializations and such will come BEFORE HoT.

Skill points gained from books will not effect the amount of HPs you will get in the slightest. They will get converted to the new currency.

People claim a bunch of stuff, but none of us KNOW how much the Elite Specializations will cost, therefore we have no idea if it will require 100% map completion (it seems rather unlikely though).

Easy: They know exactly how many skill points you could get by leveling up.
They take that number and then add the number of completed skill challenges.

The only skill points that gets converted to Hero Points (the thingies used to unlock traits and specializations) are the skill points you have gotten from leveling (to lvl 80) and Skill Challenges around the world. Skill points gotten via scrolls or by leveling past lvl 80 will be converted to a new currency used to buy Mystic Forge stuff.

It is worth pointing out that we know that there will be a mastery-line for Fractals. Which would suggest that it at least gets something.

Why would Kasmeer (who is a Mesmer) become the Elementalist Specialization?
Why would Braham (who is a Guardian) become the Warrior Specialization?

We know very little about Mordremoth.
We do know that it can basically attack targets without notice very far away from its position. We also know that it can attack and destroy a full fleet of air-ships within minutes.

We know very little about its defensive abilities however.

How so? Bow with it’s range seems nice, and setting traps out infront of the other team seems quite decent to me considering we usually have one or two extra utilities to spared depending on the build.

It is not only a matter of utilities, it is also a matter of traits.
You will lose out on one of the standard trait-lines if you spec for Dragonhunter. Something that will effect the effectiveness of your group support.

I am not blindly defending. I am pointing out facts.

As for the suggestions of things to do: People keep claiming that there is nothing to do in the game. And yet the vast majority of them still have a large amount of stuff that they can do. They just CHOOSE to not do it, and if they choose to not do it, they shouldn’t really come here and complain about there being nothing to do.

Why not include nuclear weapons since it’s our own, real-life military and based on our highest available technology? Why exempt our most potent weapons unless there is a reason to make it not our highest available technology.

Removing nuclear weapons means it’s not us and our technology but some other technology or some other time in the past before it was developed.

I would assume simply because nuclear weapons aren’t actually used in modern warfare.

Wasn’t this exactly what those of us that preferred the Living Story system warned about when people demanded an expansion?

And the expansion people claimed that it would in no way or form change the content flow.

It is simply not feasible for a company of ArenaNets size and resources to focus on both and expansion and other content at the same time.
It is simply one or the other.

And yes, I know people will bring up the whole: “But they can re-release stuff that is already created!”. But that is assuming that it works 100% with all the new changes that have been made, something that takes time and resources to check, and if it does not work it could take weeks if not more to find and fix the issues so that it once again becomes playable.
Weeks that needs to be taken from the expansion.

Not that it really matters, because it would still only lead to people complaining about how lazy they are to only release old stuff instead of new (just look at Halloween, Wintersday and Chinese New Year).

Filled up the wardrobe with all currently obtainable skins?
Gotten the Fractal Tonic?
Gotten to Platinum Legend in WvW?
Completed all feasible (ergo all possible except most of the WvW ones) achievements?

So basically adding stuff (which once again takes time, money and resources) for the sake of adding stuff?

There will never be a game that can have new stuff for people to do forever.

I can also almost guarantee that there is plenty of stuff in the game already that you have not done.

Or do you have all Living Story achievements?
Completed all collection?
Gotten 5 characters to lvl 80?
Gotten to rank 80 in sPvP?
Gotten all legendaries?
Gotten full Ascended gear for your character?

And so on.

Except that it would be rather weird to have a monk in the kungkittensense when they had a monk as in holy man/woman in GW1.

They can’t just magically press a button and have stuff work. They need to make sure that none of the engine changes made since said content was last available have not broken something. Which takes time and resources. If it is found that it have indeed broken something, that could mean weeks of work to try and find what is broken and how to fix it. Weeks that could better be spent on the expansion.

Or people can just take a break if they feel like there is nothing they want to do in the game.

No one is forcing them to play every day. It is not like you have a subscription that you must get your monies worth of.

It’s like SAB, people honestly didn’t care if it was “new” or just the last one. They just wanted SAB because it was something to do.
Right now people want SOMETHING TO DO. Not just “Oh look dragonhunter is coming… yay..” we want to PLAY.

And yet even if we got SAB today, people would play it for a few days and then complain about not having W3.

It is also a matter of resources. They can’t just push a button and SAB magically works again. They need to make sure that none of the changes done since it was last here have broken something for SAB, and if it have it could take weeks to find out where the bug is and how to fix it. Something that would require taking time and people away from working on the expansion.

But that is just the thing: You wouldn’t be content with something being copy/paste as shown by the last line in the second paragraph. Therefore the only thing that would make you happy would be new content. Content that would take both time, money and resources away from the expansion.

Except when working on expansions, where they basically don’t release anything new for a rather long time.

WoW is a great example, going a YEAR without any sort of new content before expansion AND require people to pay monthly for it.

The Elite Specialization is required for the weapon, and if they Elite Specialization is not active, nor is access to the specific weapon for that Elite Specialization.

If that was not the case there would be basically no downside whatsoever to unlock the Elite Specialization.

There is nothing wrong with my PC, I have a fresh install and gw2 on a solid state drive. I do normally get 60 fps but im tired of looking at fluctuating fps depending on where I am at in the game. I can max Bioshock Infinite, Farcry , Skryim etc no problem.

None of which are MMOs or even multiplayer games.

Looks fully playable to me.

I am far from being an expert on Guardian, but I can hardly see a case where one wouldn’t want to take the Dragonhunter spec. Even if you hate bow and traps. It is amazing for offensive-style play with melee weapons (snares, damage boost, vuln, mobility).

One of the main purposes of the Guardian in WvW is support.
Support that you partly lose out on if you spec for Dragonhunter

Which would make sense since they said last weekend was the last weekend to get the portal.

Based on the two we have seen I see multiple situations where one would not want to use the Elite Specialization.

For a game like Guild Wars 2 I don’t expect to use a 10(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) year old API given the fact that they introduced DX9 with GW Factions after DX8. Can’t be THAT hard to implement.

You are assuming that the step between DX9 and DX10/11/12 is as small as the step between DX8 to DX9.

They did say this weekend was the last for it, so it is quite likely that they will stop dropping with the patch today. At the very latest it will stop on Friday.

But do you really NEED to have every single trait in the whole game unlocked? Most people stay with one or two different builds in WvW, why would they need to have every single possible build in the whole game unlocked for that, when you will only ever use a handful of them?

Unlikely.

Considering how easy it took out the whole Pact Airship-fleet it is unlikely that air-support would be possible. The fact that it can also sprout vines more or less everywhere would make a land-assault rather dangerous as well.

We’re in the midst of specializations blog posts, and it was supposed to be the last nine weeks leading up to the release, but that would put the release at mid June at the current pace. And there’s still Guild Halls that hasn’t been covered (and perhaps a bit more about some of the other Masteries we’ll be getting). There’s a rumour that they’ll take a break from specializations at some point, give us blog posts about other things, then return to the remaining specializations, finish off with Revenant, then launch.

While the update to precursor acquisition makes for a huge change in the way we craft legendary weapons, our new Map Bonuses system will also make acquiring the materials you need a more directed activity. With Heart of Thorns, most explorable maps will have an associated set of bonus rewards that rotate on a regular basis. Starter maps will not be included in order to preserve the new-player experience. By completing events, jumping puzzles, and mini-dungeons in a map, you’ll be periodically awarded with one of its associated bonuses in addition to the normal rewards. For most maps, the bonus reward will be crafting materials. For instance, playing in Cursed Shore could reward you with ancient bones, charged cores, charged lodestones, or giant eyes during one rotation, and powerful venom sacs, glacial cores, glacial lodestones, or globs of ectoplasm during another rotation.
Maps like the Silverwastes or Dry Top that have a dedicated currency will work a little differently. For these maps, bandit crests and geodes have been something of a test for this concept, where you’re rewarded with these currencies through a bouncy chest for playing on the map. The Map Bonuses system is a more streamlined experience, and with Heart of Thorns, these maps will be updated to always award currencies through the Map Bonuses system. Moving forward, any map with a similar currency will also work within the Map Bonuses system.
The goals of this system are to provide ways for players to target the materials they need, let players know exactly where to obtain those materials, and help all explorable maps always feel like relevant and rewarding places to play.
