I am guessing you are talking about the gold conversion into gems. In that case, you are technically correct, but it’s still purchasing a story.
Either I have to play for months to accumulate enough gold for conversion or use real money. In both cases I have to buy a story. And that’s only because I wasn’t there in those two weeks.
I might be strange, but I would like to use my gold for that single most “important” piece of GW2. A legendary. And spending it for other things, especially those that should be free, is kinda unproductive.
It’s my principle that is clashing with ANet’s thirst for cash.

There have not been any finale event for any of the BWEs for HoT. They most likely simply don’t want to waste resources on something like that while working on an expansion.

Of course not. But it is not like people are sitting with 5 minute long loading screens frequently (and if they do, they probably have bigger issues to deal with than a tiny piece of text).

ArenaNet earns from their ad too. It’s basic marketing.

There is a rather large difference between getting revenue for views and selling something. Unless people actually buys the expansion ArenaNet earns a grand total of nothing at all from the ad.

1) Long? My longest is usually 30 seconds at most, and that is with a rather old and bad computer. Not to mention the fact that there is nothing stopping anyone form just minimizing the game and browse the internet while waiting (the client does flash when it is done loading).

2) Actually, it is fully possible to play the whole game for free. Should they really waste development time on making a difference between account types for something like this?

Indeed, the one GW1 expansion give us a couple of new skills.
The vast majority that were never used and a game that was basically impossible to balance due to the vast amount of skills that had to be taken into consideration.

Which doesn’t really matter all that much, seeing as the leaderboards are not active.

There is one main reason for why it won’t be available in the core maps: They were not built with gliding in mind and thus all of them would need to be worked on and rebuilt in order for it to work. Something that will take massive amount of time and resources.

Buying the expansion have very little to do with accessing the WvW beta though. It is more a matter of activity it would seem.

They weren’t with the Pact Fleet, they were flying a bit behind them cheering them on.

I believe it was Faren that stated that since they took out Zhaitan they should have no trouble with Mordremoth and thus it felt safe to follow the invasion fleet.

Keep in mind that this is only part of the map. We know that there is two more chains in the earlier part of the map, which means that at the very least there will be 4 long event chains running every “day”.

Why would it scale with the size of the guild? And if it did, what would stop people from just kicking everyone, get the upgrades done and then re-invite them?

For the new maps? Very unlikely. There have been multiple open betas for Stronghold however.

And there we have it then. You complain about lack of (in your eyes) good selections, and yet you didn’t even try to do anything about it yourself by submitting something that would be good in your eyes.

It is worth pointing out that they are end game maps. They are supposed to be hard and force you to know what you are doing.

I think it is simply a matter of him going on vacation and thus have vacation clothes on. They didn’t expect to be shot down and having to fight out of the jungle after all.

Look folks… normally I’m on your side on these types of discussions lol but to me Raiding SHOULD NOT be expansion only content. Anything that requires a group shouldn’t be. It’s exclusionary for a MYRIAD of reasons.

Even if they added raids to the core world in the future, it is rather likely that they would still require HoT (or any of the future expansions if it comes with that rather than as an extension to HoT).

I get how the mastery system would be beneficial… Especially one based upon progressing within the raid. My issue is Gliding and mushroom mastery can only be earned via HoT. Therefore excluding all core players from being able to progress past certain points within raids.

But they won’t have access to the raids at all in the first place. So they will not be unable to progress past a certain point. They will be unable to enter the place to begin with.

Yeah, because we all remember how much people loved the last special event they gave us to shake things up a bit…

Where there ever any sort of doubt that one of the main selling points for the expansion would require the expansion?

Not to mention the fact that we already knew that Raids would need Masteries.

Because the game itself is not HoT yet. They simply added it in the screen but made it disabled until the expansion actually launches/there is a beta.
