Guardians have rather good access to Swiftness already, don’t see why they would need more.
The problem is that they can’t just put in an extension just like that. These are things that are planned (probably months in advance).
Yes, it is a bit annoying that we can’t test it, but it is worth pointing out that we know that the raid is not coming with release but rather later, and they DO have in-house testing which can handle balancing and such. And in worse case scenario they simply tweak it after it is released
This really needs to be looked into ASAP. Would like to experience the canopy and such but, you can’t without unlocking some masteries. Which of course needs points to do!
You need one point to get up there (Basic Gliding) and two to fully explore it (Updraft OR bouncy mushrooms). You have access to two points.

Due to the small difference between Exotic and Ascended and the fact that we know that it won’t have to do with Agony, it is very unlikely that it would be possible to do with Ascended but at the same time impossible with Exotic.

I am not sure, back when I tried it during last BWE it seemed to be after each second or third event or something like that.

While they are indeed a bit too easy now, it is worth pointing out that during BWE1 they were completely new, and thus they would have felt much harder than when people had actually learned to fight them.

The special glider skin is for Deluxe and Ultimate versions only. You can upgrade to Deluxe version for gems via the gem-store in game.
That’s what you’d like to believe. Guild Wars 2 is no different than any other MMO out there. As much as Arena Net employees market otherwise.

And while, yes it might seem unfair, it is worth pointing out that issues like these can end up costing ArenaNet a fair bit of money, thus most company have a rather strict policy about this.
They tend to be able to work it out with a ticket though, so ask your friend to submit that and wait for a reply from them.

We all know “beta tests” have never been about testing for a long time. Rather they’re a marketing ploy.
Ah yes, that is why there have clearly been rather many changes made based on feedback between each of the BWEs, right?
Because the store decided that people should pay extra for beta access, despite that not being the case for the actual developing company?
The official price will be the same on release day as it is today. Beta access is a bonus and not considered part of the price.
Still doesn’t change the fact that the price you pay is for access to the expansion, not beta access.
You are not paying for the bonus.
The game will cost the same if you buy it on the 23rd.

And there in lies the issues with many of todays gamers: They are playing beta tests in order to play stuff, not in order to test.
The fact that there is “little” stuff to do is on purpose, on order to focus testing on a smaller amount of stuff rather than just having people running around doing everything once.
Experience gained in the core game will advance the core-game masteries.

It is balanced around Ascended Gear. But Ascended gear is not required.

Oh right, the stronghold test – not interested, as many others either. What are we testing in the new zone? nerfed mobs? done.
Oh and some new professions… kinda hard to test in a not challenging environment.

All the other professions were tested before raids were added in, and plenty of changes have been made to those.
People need to understand that betas are for testing, not for your enjoyment.
As it is now, they could call the whole BWE3 off.
At least let us know in game, that it is turned off, you cannot test raid content, don’t wait there and try all day long.
Raids are not the only things that need testing.
ArenaNet (and thus Guild Wars 2) is fully owned by NCSoft.
NCSoft does however seem to have very little say in how the game is being developed.
It is disabled because they would bugs with it that made using them rather annoying (such as being unable to leave squad and so on).
It will be back when they have found a fix for the bugs.
There is plenty of other content to TEST that is not raid.

You didn’t specify PvP. You claimed that they would not be tested at all, which is outright false.
(There is something called playing in window mode and/or having multiple screens nowadays, so one can both play and visit the forums at the same time. Scary how much can be done by todays technology, isn’t it?)
But beta-feedback is supposed to be in the HoT-forum. But I am guessing it is not so much feedback but rather more raging and complaining and trying to stir up drama.
So now we go from being proven wrong about pets not being testable to how Celestial is the worst thing ever?
Might I suggest supplying more thought-out and clear feedback if you want to actually have it addressed by the devs (and especially posted in the right forum section https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot)
It is a beta, bugs are to be expected. If you do look around in the beta though (assuming you actually play it rather than just reading on others reports) you should see plenty of the new pets running around.
We’re just taking ANet’s raid designers at face value. They are straight-up telling us that the first two bosses in a wing will can be done with an Asc/Exo mix with a top tier group and that the third boss will require full Ascended. This is not conjecture, this is the Word of kittening God.
Either ANet lied to us when they originally said all PvE content could be cleared in Exo gear, or they’re lying to us now. But you can’t get around the fact that they lied about gear requirements.
Funny how selective people are when it comes to “taking ANet’s raid designers at face value”.

By your logic, games should not have story, its selfish. People should just go read a book or watch a movie if they want story. At which point Bobby and the rest of the lore team may as well not have jobs.
One can have a story without making the content easy. Which seems to be the case with Raids.
Oh, ratings are very much meaningless in reality, but they are there, and people that are younger than said ratings shouldn’t really be the ones catered to when it comes to content and such, since they aren’t, officially, suppose to play the game in the first place.

He basically says that when people learn the fights it should become easier to do it, even with lower tier gear and even (probably jokingly) with some people going as quaggan.
That makes it sound rather clear that it will not be hardgated in the slightest to Ascended gear for everyone.
So basically you want people to get Achievement progress for Achievements they haven’t actually done?

They are recommended to what degree? As in, you will have almost no chance of doing raids without it or you might have some problems doing raid without ascended gear?

I would guess that he was not in the office but rather browsing Reddit where that thread (which was also created first and was more active than this one) was on top of the list, thus easy to find. I am not sure if the devs have access to their dev-forum accounts from home.

One thing to keep in mind. A good puzzle is one that starts out hard and then after playing it and learning how it works it becomes easier. I mean when Teq came out it was hard now it’s on farm. In order do this you need a base line to balance around so you make sure the mechanics is where all the interesting decisions come from.
This next Beta Weekend you can try it out. This is the best opportunity to show us how well we did if your worried about the balance being too easy jump in and kick that encounters butt the better everyone does the more data we will have to create the proper base line and the more we can focus on each fights mechanics.
Clearly after something is on farm it’s easier to do it with less gear, or with some number of people on a quaggan tonic. I expect a spread run with maximum quaggans on youtube shortly after this post!

Thanks guys for the answer! Thats great to know that there is a option to play without elite spec, but I think it won’t change the fact that everyone is gonna use it anyway, hehe! Maybe those without HoT.
I can see several situation where using the Elite Spec would not be a good idea.
I for one will probably not use it on my WvW Warrior for example.
