Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
I would suggest not reacting to it until it is actually confirmed.
The only information I have seen that talks about this is a thread on reddit with a screenshot that can very well be home-made.
So until we get information about if this is legit or not I suggest chilling out ^^
Yes, putting all updates together from start of Living Story until now is very much enough to fulfill an expansion.
You do not miss out on content with expansions and you can play at your own pace.
You miss out on content every 2 weeks with Living Story if you do not play enough within 2 weeks.
Oh?
I have seen quite a few of those special “leading up to expansion” quest/story/event-lines that is only possible to ever do in a very short time before an expansion. Sure they are not technically part of the expansion, but they are very much there because of the expansion.
Most of the Living Story Achivements actually stays for a month. The latest one (before Fractals) have stayed for more than a month and seems to be staying at least one more week.
There have also been quite a bit of permanent stuff added via the Living Story, but for some reason people always seem to forget that.
Funnily enough back during Prophecies people were complaining about how bad and disconnected that story was as well.
And yes, they have made some changes, which happens to every creative work sooner or later, but people like Bobby Stein is still there.
The main risk with keeping the same people on the same ship forever is that sooner or later they will end up out of “good ideas”.
Without new blood the story WILL become worse over time. With new blood that can of course also be the case, but at least there is a chance that it will become something better, whilst not adding new blood is almost guaranteed to make the story worse at some point.
We have to keep in mind that this is basically one story arc (a very long one, but still). Just like the first main story arc was the fight against Zhaitan, this story arc is about Scarlet, and when it is over (they do have an end for it, and my guess would be that we will see it in March at the latest) we will have another story arc.
During a story arc it is quite logical that the villain tends to do stuff, and as of yet there isn’t really anything where her involvement doesn’t make sense.
She was kept out of Halloween, had they wanted to shoehorn her into everything why wouldn’t they have put her in there as well?
She was also not (as far as we know at least) involved in Tequatls evolution.
People did complain back during the early days of the Living Story that there weren’t a leader or someone that actually organized the alliances, and now that we have one people apparently would prefer that we did not have one.
Simply put people will never be happy about anything.
I would even dare to bet that people will complain when we get rid of Scarlet as well.
Good point. What I mean is, they shoehorn Scarlet in E-V-E-R-Y-THING. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Elder Dragons were freaking robots that Scarlet built, and that she was behind the entire events of Nightfall.
Well we already KNEW that Scarlet worked with the Inquest at one point, so it is not really like they suddenly decided that she was working with the Inquest in the Fractal.
It isn’t really a matter of people being offended, it is a matter of people not following the CoC that they agreed on.
The suggestion is indeed a good one, currently I suppose the only way is to contact support, but would be easier to simply be able to report it in-game.
There isn’t really ANY likeness at all outside of sharing the same warning though.
they did it in gw1, just something else we loved about guild wars 1 that isn’t in gw2.
They also required you to pay real money in GW1. While in GW2 you can technically pay for it with gold.
Why would they run into problems then?
It is not as it would suddenly make stuff become unlimited (unless they go with a LOTRO-style wardrobe).
I would say that has more to do with the maturity of the playerbase rather than the females vs males itself. Mature people don’t really make a difference between a male player and a female player.
You know race =/= belief…and often times i wish arena net would figure that out…yes you can have a charr that believes in human gods and a human who believes in none vice versa… If the only reason this class isnt coming out is lore…they should step up their game. ;p
Oh the Charr KNOW that the Human Gods exists, but that is not really the point. Charr detest gods overall though.
And it is not just the fact that there would be issues with the races, it is also the fact that the Gods have disappeared and no longer really answer the prayers which the Dervish Class is built around.
The Dervish it too closely tied to the Human Gods for it to actually work though.
Unless they completely remake the whole class.
Why assume that the only way of being useful is to kill people?
Being able to survive and pull a group of enemy players away form other stuff is definitely a very valid and good tactic.
He is not playing to kill, he is playing to stall, which he quite clearly succeeded very well with. Well enough to get you to whine about him on the forums even.
I do not play mesmer in WvW, that is my PvE character.
Aye, while the idea itself is good in order to do a change like this it must guarantee that they still net the same income, which is quite unlikely.
Clearly the 1 use skins do sell quite well atm so they don’t really, from a business point of view, have any reason to change it.
Not really. He accomplished nothing because even if he kept us busy, we had scouts ready on strategical points, so nobody managed to surprise us. On top, we already had the whole borderland.
And yet he still managed to keep you occupied for quite some time, instead of having you attack other maps and/or upgrading stuff. Which is most likely his plan all along.
The fact that you claim that he was a terrible mesmer after he owned you guys is quite silly.
Discrimination is always going to exist in online video games. GW1 and GW2 are no different in this. But I will say, the ‘know how’ of making a proper build in GW1 wasn’t as straight-forward as in GW2, and I do believe that GW1 had the potential for tons more depth than it’s sequel.
True enough, but then again mostly people just took the “best” build from PvX wiki and ran the content.
Sure some people made those builds in the first place, but the majority simply took a build from there and ran it so most people never really utilized the extensive build system anyway.
Which would lead to people missing it, and then complain about it not being visible enough.
Which is the same for GW2.
In most areas in GW2 you can bring whatever build you want, but in the “elite” content people might not like it.
The elite content in GW2 would be the dungeons. And yet funnily enough I have seen way more people getting kicked in GW1 for having the wrong build/title than I have ever seen in GW2.
People need to take off their rose-tinted glasses when talking about GW1.
Why do people keep using the argument: “You can change gems to gold and therefore it is already like selling gear directly in the store”?
It is not even close to that.
Firstly people need to trade the gold for the gems. Gold is not suddenly being created in the gem-transfer.
Secondly the gear you buy have been crafted by people in game, which keeps the market going, it is not something suddenly created by ArenaNet, which gear in the gemstore would be.
Yes. That’s actually fairly common business procedure: take your losses before things get worse.
It is extremely unusual that lets say a series suddenly decide to delete several months of work (and thus also putting it several months behind, which would mean literally several months of nothing released) just because some people dislike it.
As far as I remember right now it has actually never happened.
Just deleting stuff and leaving this storyline that they have been building on for almost a year hanging would most likely create way more issues than just going ahead with the plan.
No they can’t.
They can trade gems to gold with other players and then buy gear crafted by other players (or dropped, but mainly crafted) for said gold.
That is a big difference.
No.
The moment they start selling actual statted max-level gear (which seems to be what you are suggesting?) in the gem-store is the moment they are making the game into a P2W.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the thing in store needs to be interesting to buy.
If they look exactly like something you can already get in game (for less gold no less) why would anyone bother buying it?
Its hard to be constructive when the point of many of us is “Make Scarlet go away” and Anet wants to just jam more and more of it down our throats. Its past the time when that character could have been salvaged. Anet is doing nothing to speed up her demise and is going to march to their own drummer no matter how many customers they tick off.
You have to keep in mind however that they have about 4 months dev time for the updates.
That means that the current updates were already started on when Scarlet made her appearance and thus they couldn’t really do much about it.
Or do you suggest they just throw away months of work just because some people seems to hate the current story?
Seems to be a very incomplete list as well, seeing as I got a ticket as late as yesterday and it is not mentioned as possible drop in that page.
Yes but if you don’t use a certain build you’ll either a) never find a group or b) be kicked once they see you in action cause it doesn’t fit what is expected. And since I play a Ranger as my main and refuse to use a sword/warhorn build (I prefer a Ranged Ranger) if I do find a group they kick once they see the bow.
Sounds exactly like in GW1.
If you didn’t have a special build or a special titel with a special rank you would not be invited and if you were you would get abused and people would travel back to city to kick you.
The game is balanced around being able to use 3 utilities though. Suddenly being able to use 4 would require a major rebalance of the whole game.
It is also most likely completely off the table now with the new Instabilities where one of them simply makes it impossible to use Elite skills (or well, it kills you at least..)
The problem here is that if they change stuff, people will complain that they removed stuff from last year.
If they don’t change stuff people will complain that they are lazy and didn’t add anything new.
So no matter how they do it there will always be people that are complaining.
I for one would assume (based on what ArenaNet said around the first anniversary) that the holiday events will largely be the same now that they have built a base on them to stand on. Which is fine by me.
Why wouldn’t they?
They have already added two completely new areas, one which is still there (Southsun Cove) and one that will most likely return (Labyrinthine Cliffs).
They have also stated several times that they will be adding new areas and stuff down the line, but are working on making the core game better first.
Indeed, it was posted on reddit first, under the name ScarletBriar which didn’t seems so weird, since people there tend to like pretending to be people they are not.
But when actually listening to the sound-file it does sound VERY much like Tara Strong, which does make it seem legit.
And yes, I think that these DO NOT TOUCH thingies might be related to Dragon Energy and/or Ley Lines.
Because Fractals are not mirrors.
Why didn’t the Searing Fractal look exactly the same as the Searing?
Why don’t the Aetherblade and Molten Alliance dungeons look exactly the same as they did during their time in the game?
As stated several times, Fractals are not exact, they are variants of certain events and in this case said variant simply didn’t have a roof.
So you are claiming that the mesmer was terrible simply because he didn’t get any kills?
Clearly you guys would be even more terrible then seeing as you required several people and quite a bit of time.
Clearly he fulfilled his purpose. To drag you away from other places and waste your time. That would suggest he was actually a very good Mesmer rather than a terrible one.
I am at 13/14 for the Tower of Nightmares meta achievement and the only one I’m missing is the Nightmare unveiled, how can I still do that one?
There are dailies available every day, do one of them and you should get 14/14
Ah.
I assume you have a weapon equipped?
If you do and have an auto-attacked set you should begin to attack the monster if you right-click on it.
If that doesn’t work, try pressing number 1, that should use the skill.
Ah yes of course. Should have told you that in the first post ^^ No need to apologize everyone is new sometime after all.
Ctrl+right click should do it.
As it is now, you can “roll for easier” in a way by skipping a level you don’t want to do, and joining a group at a higher level, and once more people reach 50, there will be 1 or 2 levels in the 41-50 tier that most people will agree are the easiest.
I think it’s a great idea of having a more random systeam.
Maybe every tier can have a pool of ten instabilities, and every fractal pulls a random instability from that pool.
IE, 4 different instabilities at lvl 45.
True enough. But that still requires some people to have completed them in the first place, since they need to unlock the higher tiers.
Having a pool as you suggest might work rather well though. I am just against being able to get the easiest Instability at scale 50 for example.
Yes.
You will not be able to do high level Fractals, but since those are, content-wise, identical to lower-level Fractals there is really not much of a loss.
And that is basically the only thing in the game that needs Ascended Gear, other than that you can do anything in Exotic.
Make sure one of your weapon skills (preferably number 1) are set as Auto-attack (A golden bar circling around it) then you should just be able right-click on a mob and it will keep using that attack as soon as it is ready.
There are not standard auto-attacks in this game so all attacks are actually skills being used.
You are pointing out the main reason yourself in your post.
“So players can roll for easier”.
That is not the point of them. You are not supposed to be able to “roll for easier”, you are supposed to finish all of them.
With the introduction of the Edge of the Mists, I really hope that Anet will decide to shutdown WvW in the night hours. You can still earn ranks in the edge of the mists, but lose the ability to help your server.
Whos night?
Night for you might not be night for me.
And what about people that are working during the days? Should they not be allowed to play WvW?
Turning off WvW just because you can’t play at a certain time is not really a solution. WvW is a 24/7 battlefield, not a “the 8 hours per day when my people are online”-battlefield.
Well that is the point of the Mesmer. To be confusing
Ok than delete gold to gem exchange or dont manipulate with rate.
And every game offer free updates. GW2 was beta-released game and now i must be happy with “new” content? When Anet make something big so it certainly will not be free but release in a new DVD.
Yes, in my eyes they could remove the ability to trade gold for gems. If only to get rid of these weekly posts about how everything in the gemstore is too expensive with connection to gold.
Who is manipulating the rate? It is supply and demand, thats how it works. If more people want gems but don’t want to pay with real money the price will increase.
And since more and more gold is added into the game the price will also increase since the gold loses value.
True, every game offers free updates, but how often and how big?
I have yet to see a single other game that offers these amounts of updates for free. GW2 had a very smooth launch comparing to the general release state of MMOs, sure some things didn’t work as intended, but that is always the case. Why else do you think every single game gets patched rather soon after release?
Why assume that? They have already made it clear that if it works well with the Living World updates they might never release a paid expansion, but rather just release it via said updates. And it seems like they ARE earning more than enough money on the gemstore to actually keep it floating and releasing content for free.
Anet have crazy price policy.
For one stat booster want 150gem = cca. 15gold, LOL.
Logging axe for 1000gem (before want only 600gem) = more than 85gold. We can buy more than 2100 Ori axe (this amount is enugh for 2-3 years). For 1000g only moron buy this.
Trait reset for 125gem??? Really want 10g for 1 reset?
One chest key 125gem? Ok, but than give more than 0,001% chance to get some usefull!!!Wake-up Anet., thanks.
First of all. The prices in gems doesn’t give a kitten about the current gold to gem transfer rate, and it never should.
Gold to gem is a bonus, it is not something that they even needed to add to the game.
They want people to buy gems with real money after all, and thus prices will always be based around real money “value” of gems, not gold value.
And no, the crafting tools were never 600. They were 800 back when they were soulbound however. But then again, anyone buying a permanent crafting tool to save money are stupid.
And if there’s an exclusive piece of loot or an awesome-looking back piece that is ONLY available for two weeks, we should just be OK with never getting it?
Even if it’s the perfect item to complete our character?
Sure, let’s try to feel OK with that.
It is of course very unlikely that every single living story will reward an item that is PERFECT for your character.
Agony happens in situations where we are utilizing some kind of magic/technology to access areas of history that is not supposed to be accessible more or less. And thus we get damaged from prolonged visits there.
The reason we don’t get agony damage on low levels have more to do with game-play than lore.
In lore we are most likely always getting hurt by agony.
They aren’t weapons.
They are skins.
One could explain it with the simply fact that said open room collapsed and they rebuilt it slightly in order to help with cleaning operations.
Or simply the fact that the facility was bigger than just the small explorable part in the game.
Or the fact that Fractals are variants of situations not exact mirrors.
Wiki says the explosion was the fault of an underground Inquest lab. Don’t if it’s true, frankly, don’t really care.
The point stands: any of these explanations are better than “Scarlet did it.”
It’s not just completely out of left field and nonsensical, it’s outright immersion-breaking. You can’t take a story that offers answers like this even remotely seriously.
And how is that any different from what I said?
The fact still remains that we KNOW that Scarlet worked with the Inquest, thus it is not really that unfit that she would be present at one of their biggest historical points, especially since it would most likely fit her timeline.
How is it immersion-breaking that someone that worked with a certain group was with said group when said group did stuff?
Isn’t the rewards based on which Fractals you actually get though?
So if you get 3 short/easy ones you will get less rewards than if you get a long and/or kittene.
Also keep in mind that nuclear-like explosions tend to change stuff quite a bit.
