That is not what he is saying.
He is saying that there will be no MAJOR feature release during those 4 updates.

Which makes sense.
Major features are after all stuff like the WPX system, new maps types, new systems over all and so on.

What unique armor skin, unique weapon skin, home instance addition, healing skill, or compelling reward did you receive from your WvW Season One chest? You got all of those (and in some cases more than one) from the ToN release.

Not a single one was given for the meta, since they were all in the gemstore, thus shouldn’t be counted as rewards gained during the meta.

There is one thing on your list that we actually got while doing the meta the home instance node. The skill was not rewarded for the meta, and not required by simply doing the meta. We also should count the rewards that we got for simply playing to get the meta.

From WvW Season 1 we got a title, we got mini, we got Ascended Crafting material, we got several WvW Season 1 Achievement Chest and we got quite a bit of stuff by simply playing WvW (which was required to complete the meta)

The WvW reward had far fewer rewards than those available on the Tower of Nightmares. That is exactly the point of this thread.

I have personally gotten way more rewards for doing WvW season 1 meta than I got from doing ToN meta. And that is what we are comparing, is it not?

As for the rewards, just taking into account S1 took 7 weeks, rewards should be way better. Personally i didn’t go for the meta, and didn’t get the reward, but i understand frustration.

Just because something is available for 7 weeks doesn’t mean it takes 7 weeks of work.

And funnily enough we haven’t really seen anyone complaining about The Tower of Nightmare metas reward, even though that have also been available for a very long time now.

I’m going to stop you right there. Queen Jennah probably wants all Elder Dragons dead, as does almost everyone on Tyria. But she’s probably most concerned with simply keeping Kryta safe. I don’t see any reason why Jennah specifically would want to go after Kralkatorrik.

The fact that Kralkatorrik (or well, its minions) attacked and decimated much of the garrison of Ebonhawke and tried to kill her would be a rather good reason to want to target it first.

Those are definitely NOT “serious problems” nor are they very high on the priority list.

You also seem to ignore that more or less the whole first half of the Personal Story is based on choices during character creation. And much after that is based on choices made during missions.

Maybe you don’t get responses due to how you write your complaints?

Clearly it is not working as intended, seeing as they said in the patch notes that ALL of them would be craftable without Fractal materials.
Thus it is a bug.

The Hall of Monuments is however a ruin in GW2s time, most likely due to everyone fleeing when Jormag turned up, so making it more alive doesn’t really make much sense.

Oh, I don’t have an issue with gear being easy to get.
But then it should be easy around the board, not just easy for those people that happened to play a certain part of the game at a certain period of time.

Technically they are available right now, since the material needed for them changed from Fractal stuff to Bloodstone Dust.

Something that could be completed in a week without too much trouble does definitely not warrant Ascended gear.

Do you really think that adding a couple of months more dev time for the releases would make that much of a difference though?
They already have 4 MONTHS time working on the content we are seeing now after all, so I don’t really think it would matter much with a couple of extra weeks.

Just because you had 7 weeks to do it doesn’t mean it takes 7 weeks.
Keep in mind that some (crazy) people had already completed the meta during the first few days.

The main issue is that badges are way too easy to come by.
So unless it will take several thousand badges it will be rather unbalanced compared to the other ways of getting said item.

Oh, I saw quite a bit of people raging about not being able to do the Scavenger Hunt, which was due to the new story. And also people raging about how bad the new story was.

Well the Reapers (or at least one of them) does still exist at least. But he/she/it doesn’t tell us much about what is going on in the Underworld.

The Gods left long before the Dragons rose.
They left back in Nightfall.

One can also assume that access to FoW/UW/HoH is simply not possible due to them leaving.

Exactly. Season 1 was a Living Story type event for WvW, why not get Living Story style rewards? Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to WvW either way, I was just under the assumption that WvW’ers would finally be getting PvE rewards for what we do every day INSTEAD of PvE.

But we did get a Living Story style reward.

Most living stories give us a skin or something like that.
This Living Story update gave us a mini and a title. So basically we got exactly the same kind of reward as a PvE Living Story.

I always wonder why people that use WvW as a reason to dislike Ascended gear always seems to be under the impression that only one side will get the Ascended gear.
That is of course not the case. About the same amount of people on all servers will have gotten Ascended gear in about the same time, thus it balances itself out.

WvW is not a 1v1 battleground after all.

Or, they could deal with the server transfer issue. Truth is this. It should be a commitment what WvW server you play on, its one of the main reasons servers even exist.

They could also use some systems/rewards which are focused on server pride. Things you only have access to once you have earned it with a certain server.

The main issue with that however is that it would punish people and/or guilds that would transfer for other reason than for rewards or whatever, and that is not really a good solution either.

In what situations?
Just saying stuff doesn’t work doesn’t really help anyone.

Rewards should be quite the same for all servers. Like unique weapon/armor skins or tokens for uniqe price, 1 exotic weapon/armor, 50 gold, 20 lauerls, 500 badges of honor. Winners should get bonus like finishers, and thats ok, and maybe 5% more tokens/materials/gold for each place

Yes, and I have never claimed anything other than that.
The people I am arguing with is those that seem to want the winning server to get WAY better rewards than those that didn’t win.
Which would create the issues I am talking about.

Exactly, which means that with awesome rewards it would be pointless to play WvW on any server other than those that would most likely win, since you would be more or less constantly outmanned and never have much of a chance of winning.

They absolutely want people to participate, but I doubt they want everyone to stack on 6 servers just because those are most likely to win.
And that is the main issue, people are so obsessed with rewards so that would do anything to get them, including making everything worse for both themselves and others.

I have never claimed that it did.
I simply claimed that adding super good rewards for the winning servers would most likely hurt WvW way more than it would help it.

They have plans of adding progression through infusion slots, so although ascended gear might only be x% better now, expect it to be y% better next year and even more the year after that. Ascended runes and sigils will probably come at some point also.

There is however nothing that suggest that the infusions will actually increase your stats and that they could simply just be Fractal specific (such as the new “unlimited” Agony Resist Infusion).

I would rather have an alive WvW than one that is completely dead due to stacking.
WvW have been a limited interest to the playerbase since release, I don’t really see why it would suddenly become an issue now.

I play only wvw for fun, no stupid farming or temp events camping (I already have a job in rl thank you). Until now I managed to craft only one weapon for one of my build of one of my 8 characters. When ascended gear will become overwhelming in wvw, since I won’t be able to afford gearing my character as I want and as I did for all of them during the exotic-gear-age, I will quit the game. Ascended gear will never become overwhelming in WvW.

And for all those people that won’t buy gems anymore due to this (which is most likely a rather small number) they are getting 4000+ gems purchased for all those who took up the offer.
So in the end I would assume they earn more money.

Ok, I’ll play along. Why should they be? The WvW event was the perfect time to award the winning worlds with something extra special to draw more folks into WvW on a steady basis. Season 1 was a huge success as evidenced by the long que’s obviously due to PvE’rs (sarcasm off). Que’s meant folks were actually fighting to get into and participate regardless of reason in WvW. Instead of making a special gift for the winners thereby ensuring more active WvW into the future, the gifts were seen as lack luster, below what they give for PvE events, no special skins, no special titles aside from the everyone got veteran of the mists. The rewards even lacked a WvW element like badges, plans, serious gold.

Now, who knows if wvw will have the same draw going forward, the same fight for that special something. The Anet team gave high expectations and those expectations were deemed by a lot of folks to be under met. Did we read wrong Anet’s posts about the rewards? Did Anet honestly misunderstand what the clients desired? Many business’s have failed due to a disconnect between what management’s perception of a clients wish and the reality of said wish.

Honestly believe Anet could have done more with less, but special, than more with nothing special. Award the winners. Keep us motivated to WvW, to dethrone the winners, don’t give everyone the same ole stuff.

And if the winners got super awesome rewards season two would simply be: “Every single PvE:er stacks on the server that is most likely to win”, thus making it more or less impossible to get some sort of interesting matches and most people wouldn’t be able to play at all due to queues.

You mean like they have been doing earlier (and might do again)?

The thing is that when it is something as unique like this (all other gifts have been stuff available in the store) they would get a massive kittenstorm if they didn’t announce it ahead of time.

And lets be honest now, ArenaNet is a business, they need to make money and this a rather good way of doing so, especially since it doesn’t in anyway or form actually effect the game itself.

Yes, if you buy 4000 (or more) gems or more you get the mini and the backpack.
If you buy 800 (or more) gems you get the backpack only.

People always keep talking about making some kind of mechanical balance for WvW, but how would you actually do that?

Keep in mind that you need to do it in a way that doesn’t punish people (such kitten people per map or something like that).

Just an FYI, the money you spend in buying gems doesn’t necessarily go to GW2. NCSoft will be using at least some of it to fund other games they publish.

No, ArenaNet put those rewards there in order to get people to try WvW, and based on at least my server we have people trying it for the first time due to the Meta and are now planning to stay in WvW due to them liking it so much.
So clearly the whole idea worked out quite well.
