Anet practically said out loud that the rewards will be so good, that they’d be worth transferring servers to get it to make sure you’d end up on one of the winning servers. For whole guilds, at that. So, we could reasonably expect them to be at least that.
They weren’t.
Actually no.
They basically said: “Don’t stack servers, because you need to actually get into WvW to get the rewards”.
Which would suggest they told people NOT to transfer.
yup, I feel bad for the number 1 server, not even a permanent finisher? Or a title saying season 1 best or something. A chance at a skin of some sort??? disappointing considering the effort involved.
The thing however is that being the number one server doesn’t really have that much to do with effort, but rather having a stacked server.
And if they did give very special and cool items for the winners only (not counting the finisher) people would stack even more for season 2, and thus destroying WvW even more.
No, it did not say permanent.

Second paragraph under the League part of the post.
Not everything in the dat-file is used. Never take data-mined information as truth.
You don’t remember correctly
The winning world in each league will unlock a stack of supply dolyak finishers for their use in WvW and PvP. 1st place in the gold league will get a gold dolyak, 1st place in the silver league a silver dolyak, and 1st place in the bronze league a bronze dolyak.
I think it’s not just the pugs but even major gw2 guilds will feel that it’s time to stop playing wvw. The rewards will forever be dismal and non-unique.
Oh?
Then they are quite clearly not WvW-guilds. Since every single real WvW-guild have been aware since release that playing WvW for rewards is stupid, and play it for the sake of having fun instead.
You claim you care only about quality but yet you seem annoyed because they won’t release something a day before most of the people won’t be at the office to fix potential issues. That does seem a bit weird.
If you think it is a bug why not post it in the bug-forums?
Or is this simply a silly way to whine about the content?
Funnily enough it seems like those of us that are real WvW:ers doesn’t seem to have an issue with it at all.
The main issue is that a big amount of people (and most likely the majority of those that are complaining) are PvE-players that only joined WvW for the rewards.
The actual WvW-players however mostly don’t care in the slightest for these rewards and just see them as a bonus, since we play for fun.
For the dedicated WvW players it is just a slap in the face.
No, for the dedicated WvW player this doesn’t matter in the slightest. Since we don’t play for rewards, and those that did learned long ago that WvW is not really a good place if you want good rewards.
I feel stupid for having spent SEVEN WEEKS working for this shameful excuse for a reward.
And had you been an actually WvW:er you would have already known that the rewards wouldn’t be especially good, and not cared either.
I am personally more than happy enough with my Mini Dolly, the other things I don’t really care about.
be grateful for what we ARE given already, folk.
We, as the paying customer, have every right to voice complaints when the product fails to meet our standards.
It’s a business relationship and ANet’s not a charity. We have no reason whatsoever to be “grateful”.
When the product is of quality, we the customer show support by paying. When the product is a baby cat, we publicly announce how bad it is and finally proceed to leave without a backward glance.
Simple as that.
Oh, I must have missed that part of the box that said that I would get new updates every second week all year around.
When I bought the game I didn’t see anything at all about any kind of updates after release, but I suppose that might have changed since then.
People playing WvW for rewards are doing it wrong.
We have been playing WvW since release without any real rewards, and people haven’t really cared too much about it, but now that we get rewards and people (I am going to be a bit full of myself and assume that most of them are not actual WvW:ers but rather PvE:ers only wanting the achievements) whine about them being too bad.
It is an impossible situation.
If they made the rewards too good what would happen for the next league?
Most people that care about the rewards would swarm to the winning servers from this league, in order to “guarantee” nice loot next season.
It’s honestly mind-blowing that this hasn’t gotten a response yet. This is a product people are spending real-life money on. The fact it wasn’t even noted in a patch is bad enough; the lack of a response afterward is terrible.
The fact that it is most likely a bug would explain why it is not noted in the patch-notes.
Maybe but not likely.
The fact that GW1 is so difference does not really mean the model would not work. Look at the many non-mmo games that also do require longtime server support. They work also with such a model. If GW2 would be really one big open world (What it isn’t, but I still hope it will become) it would for sure give some extra challenges but nothing that isn’t solvable.
Still it does not take away that the current model does effect the game and sadly not only in a good way.
Why is it not likely though?
The difference between GW1 and GW2 when it comes to costs are MASSIVE, and it would most likely never work with the same model as GW1.
In what way to the current model effect the game?
I have yet to see a single situation in the game where I have somehow felt pushed towards the gemstore or anything like that.
Please do not spam in chat about stuff that have nothing at all to do with the live-stream.
If people keep doing that they will end up not having live-streams sooner or later.
The people doing this live-stream CAN’T answer your questions about Fractured simply due to the fact that they quite likely was not involved in creating the “issues” you are complaining about.
How does something challenging stop people from experiencing it? I thought it just makes it harder to complete.
That’s probably why every single update we receive more auto-attack content is introduced, so that everyone can experience that wonderful content that they would not be able to experience otherwise.
If something is challenging enough people won’t be able to get past the first parts of it, thus won’t be able to experience the whole thing.
If you choose to simply run stuff in a massive blob then yes it will probably be seen as “auto-attack content”, if you do however try to do stuff in smaller more organized groups you will see quite fast that it is not the case.
Good luck getting up the top of the Tower with everyone simply auto-attacking.
Good luck defeating Tequatl with everyone just auto-attacking.
Good luck clearing Temple of Grenth and Baltazhar with everyone just auto-attacking.
There are stuff in the game that is more than just spam auto-attack, but people do seem to ignore that and just join the big blobs simply because that is more rewarding.
Fractals are however made for people that does have time. If you don’t have time to spare there are loads of other stuff that can be done (such as the 8 other dungeons and such).
Not everything in the game can cater to everyone.
Something harder than pressing 1.
So, run dungeon on level? That would make it quite a bit harder, and just pressing 1 wouldn’t really work all that well.
I do agree though, there should be something in the game that is actually hard enough to even challenge max-level top-geared players.
The main issue is that it is usually a rather small part of the player-base that would clear that, which could be considered a waste of resources.
A developer do want as many people as possible to experience their content after all.
My point exactly. Shame that this “different type of players” doesn’t include us.
So what content is it your big group of players want that does not exist in the game?
I fully agree. Can you show me a single piece of content in the whole game that caters specifically to me?
Since I don’t know what you like that would be impossible.
My point however was that the game caters to different type of players, which means that not all parts can cater to all players.
It’s all clear now. We’re just wrong audience.
Well it would be quite silly to demand that every single piece of content in the whole game would cater specifically to you. Don’t you think?
So basically creating 4 (different armors)*2 (gender) * 5 (races)?
That is a total of 40 new armors. Or 240 pieces all in all.
Sadly I don’t think that is possible. At least not in a foreseeable future.
Will Santa hats ever be made? That’s a guaranteed in every other mmo with a winter event, it’s expected if we’ve gotten Gandalf hats, I expect Santa hats.
p.s. I miss Cantha.
I am quite sure we did get a santa hat last year.
Not ONLY. You can also get them in WvW and atm also from the Tri-chest at the top of the Tower in Kessex.
And no, the weapons are not NEEDED to progress, they make it easier sure, but they are in no way needed.
There is a reason why it is tradeble.
The real issue with Agony is not the damage or the Agony Resistance; it’s the path towards acquiring the AR. In most MMOs, if there is a gear requirement for progression, the way you obtain said gear requirement is to climb the lower rungs of the progression path until you are geared enough. In Fractals of the Mists, the path towards this gear leads you out of Fractals of the Mists. (Dailies, Crafting, Guild Missions, etc.) Worse yet, it can be fast-tracked by buying the agony infusions with gold. How is this progression when someone can just throw money at something and obtain the skeleton key to “endgame”?
What a joke.
That would of course have held merit before the Fractured update.
Now however you can technically get more than enough AR from simply doing Fractals, due to the Infused Rings AR-slots.
I agree that whining can make ArenaNet decide not to reveal their future plans. However ArenaNet should not have given a timespan in which they were planning to release these things.
Indeed, but if they don’t people complain about them not telling us anything other than “we are working on it”.
So I don’t really see what they can do without people complaining.
The main issue is that people don’t seem to understand what a plan is nor what the statement “subject to change” means.
Ban them based on what?
Reports?
Way too easy to abuse.
Sadly with all these posts about “buhuh they didn’t give us what promised!!!!” it is quite possible that they will simply stop with those blog-posts entirely.
Since people apparently don’t understand what a plan is.
You are taking the problem upside down
Hm?
Explain.
I think it is actually world-wide rather than server wide.
It is good, otherwise it would completely remove the point of having AR and remove one the the biggest reasons why Ascended Gear only have a very slight stat increase from Exotic.
AR is a perfect way to have progression, while not effecting the balance of the game itself. Removing the only thing where AR is required would remove the point of progressing it.
Why would it be a long way off? They said that it was planned to be released this year, and this year is over quite soon.
No, it will not be worthless. Just like how Exotic weapons and accessories are not worthless.
We have had charged quartz possibilities for half a year, that means well over 100 charged quartz if you charged one every day.
It is quite likely that there will be Ascended Celestial Armor, seeing as all other slots do have Celestial.
They might add something small, but we will see.
It would be quite dangerous to release something somewhat big though, seeing as most people won’t work on the 25th and thus any big stuff might not be fixable until a couple of days later.
Legendary TEST amulets.
And based on the stats it looks like they are for PvP.
The thing is that if they didn’t require a somewhat big price in order to get the mini, it would have been a slap in the face for those going to the cons.
Especially those that went for the con only to get the mini (and yes, there were people like that).
Collectors might be “forced” to buy it, but $50 is much less than the $200 people at ebay want for it. And that would ONLY give you the mini. In this situation you are getting the gems (which you can use for anything you want) and gets the mini (and backpack) as a bonus.
I would say it is a rather good month.
It could easily be considered a christmas present for yourself, our your family could buy gem-cards that can be used for it.
So you are basically saying that you should have been able to just buy gems for $10 over the last 3-4 months and still be able to get the mini (and backpack)? They have most likely made careful calculation as to what price would be a good balance between giving it away only at con and making it available in-game without diminishing its “value” too much.
And if they don’t get people to keep spending money month after month how do you suggest they survive?
They have already given several bonuses to people that have bought gems (kite, minis) so I don’t really see how they don’t reach out to their “loyal contributors”.
You have no proofs nor any hints whatsoever that this will happen.
The mini was most likely made available this way due to the outrage about it only being available at cons.
How does this in any way or form even hints at starting a new thread where they will add armors and weapons exclusively this way?
No, the next update is on the 10th.
That is 14 days after Fractals was released.
Why is ascended armor being made available through crafting? Why not have it as a drop from Fractals or purchasable through fractal relics?
It is quite possible that it will drop, in the same way as the Weapons.
Unless a date is announced, always assume it will end when the next update is going live. Especially when the updates have nothing to do with each other.
Name 3 defensive/restorative skills that the Elementalist has. I have an 80 Elementalist and I sure can’t name that many.
Every single weapon have skills in Earth that are quite good at defense. Same as water have rather good restorative skills.
Not to mention the utility skills such as Mist Form and the Earth Shield.
Ah nice! Love the little livestream you had before Halloween so will try to watch this one as well.
Always nice to hear about the lore and inner workings of the company.
They made it quite clear last year that the holiday events will largely be the same each year. This has nothing to do with the Living Story.
Also keep in mind all the rage about them having a new story for Halloween this year compared to last.
You die much faster because you are not using your classes abilities. If you were you would have survived just as long, if not longer.
Just because you gear for full damage doesn’t mean you can ignore defense.
Well get to work destroying the tower then
Because both Necro and Warrior have much worse defensive/restorative capabilities than Ele and Guardian.
You dont have to craft them. They are just minimal stronger and you will feel 0 difference. Srsly why are so many people kittening about this? Their is nothing wrong about it.
Then why even add it to the game to begin with…
Because some people feel the need to grind out even minimal stat-differences?
It is quite likely that they will, in the future, try to find more ways to get access to certain stuff (the weapons do drop though, so you don’t NEED to craft them), but they do need to have it balanced, which does take time.
