i just hope they don’t make the “easy” daily worth less then it already is, it’s already barely worth it and with just one laurel it’s quite a grind to get enough.
just don’t make the dailies with "laurels exclusive to champion kills/fracture finish/dungeon finish because that would make dailies completely useless to me.
Adding specific rewards for each daily automatically make it worth more than not having said reward.
Laurels are being removed from dailies altogether as far as I understand it.
How did you get by before the LFG system was released?
Maybe that just shows that it isn’t as bad as people here think?
One thing to keep in mind when it comes to CU is that it was marketed during the Kickstarter as a PvP only sandbox, and yet after the campaign was over more and more PvE stuff seems to have crept in, so who know what it will be when/if it is actually released in 3-4 years?
These are the exotic armors, not the skins only. The other skins are all from karma vendors.
And the poster you quoted spoke specifically about armors, not skins.
They aren’t unique… They are the same skins of things that you can buy with karma on PvE.
Are you sure?
Based on the wiki both the Mist Walker and the Diviner sets are unique to WvW.
I am personally rather excited about not really knowing were we are headed. There are hints and such, but nothing conclusive.
You mean new skins that we have gotten loads of the last few months? Same with new events?
Another thing to keep in mind is that the amount of work (and the type of work) for these things are different.
I´m also not sure if Camelot Unchained will be a success, but the way CSE handles their community and communication obviously is. In other words: Mike O´Brien is wrong.
But that is just the thing. In 99% of the cases a company is always more open before release. ArenaNet was on the about the same level of openness before GW2 was released as well.
They are considered canon. But stuff that appears in the game at a later time overwrite stuff said out of game if they contradict each other.
As for them happening again: Highly unlikely, seeing the high amount of rage everytime they released one in the past.
One could of course say that the whole Rytlock twitter-picture campaign is something along the lines of the short-stories though.
I would say it is rather unfair to include companies that actually haven’t released anything yet. I think everyone can agree that the the community at large thought differently about ArenaNet before the release of GW2 and so on.
Yeah, and based on the reactions on these forums to any sort of change I for one would never say who come up with the suggestions, seeing as that would basically paint a massive bullseye on those people.
Didn’t they outright state that it was something that came out of the Adopt-a-Dev thingy for the tournament?
How about where it was earlier: play for 30-40 minutes when, how, and what you want, and you will have earned your daily?
But that would still force people to do things they do not want to do, if they want to finish the daily.
Why should your way of playing be the guideline?
If you take the examples we see on the screenshot in the blogpost, I’ll get 0. Because I don’t want to do PvP, I don’t want to do WvW, I don’t want to go to Silverwastes, and my current leveling character is in Caledon Forest. And the Fire Elemental is not active when I’m online.
If I take today’s dailies: Salvage 10 items (easily done, if you play normally and collect your drops while playing), Kill Variety (again, easily done, I like to wander around while playing), Gatherer (even if you’d make it 50, I’d still very easily do it, because I love to gather), Condition Applier (lucky me, I’m on a ranger with an axe and torch), Events (will probably not get that, I don’t come across enough of those), Kills (goes nicely with the variety bit), Leveler (just leveled, doubt I"ll get it), Reviver (depends a bit on what bodies I come across).
I get to play what I want, where I want and still get my daily, without any annoyance. And wasn’t that the entire idea of playing a game in your spare time? To have fun? To not have somebody tell you what to do?
But where to draw the line? What if someone just wants to login and chat with people. Or just RP for a bit?
Shouldn’t they also get all those APs from dailies + other rewards? Why should they be “forced to go out of their way” to get stuff?
All these little pictures they have shown us these past few weeks (without connection to the upcoming episode) does seems to point toward something rather big coming.
Going to be interesting to see what actually happens early next year.
Are you in the PvP lobby?
In that case I think that might be the issue. Many containers can’t be opened there.

There is the English one.
Looks like Rytlock have changed quite a bit.
But where should they draw the line?
Some people just want to login and chat or RP, should they also get the APs? I mean they would have to go out of their way to complete the dailies as well (and have been forced to do that since they added dailies).
Many games have test-servers.
The vast majority of those games still have issues when things go live.
Public test-servers are basically a waste of time and resources in most cases.
They actually did try the whole semi-public test server back before Edge of the Mists was released. And they changed stuff based on that feedback. Yet when it was actually released people raged like made about how it was the worst thing ever and how it was not at all what they wanted, despite it being tested and changed based on actual player feedback.
They DO (or at least did) have players alpha (and closed beta) testing content before it gets announced/added to live.
I’m more concerned as to the reason for the log in incentives, is activity dwindling that much?
Do you really think that people that doesn’t play actively will suddenly start logging in because they get a small reward (that they won’t really have any use for because they are not playing in the first place) is added?
I need more badges. Some of us arent too lazy to spend them on siege and theres infusions to buy.
You can buy infusions with badges only? Since when?
I don’t really think there is anything in that post that refers to being able to buy infusions with ONLY badges. You can however buy them for 125 badges and 5 laurels.
I’m not sure that postponing the complaints by a week really nets ANet much in the way of breathing space. Now, if they’d opted for full disclosure in the blog, rather than just hints, then people would know what to expect. With limited information, people anticipate the worst.
I’m not raging, but I am pessimistic. After all, the trait change execution was much worse than the before-implementation blog led me to believe.
But that is just the thing: Maybe there won’t be much complaints when people actually see how it works? A great example is the NPE. People raged like mad on the forums, and yet when people actually started testing it out when it was released most people seemed to feel that it was actually a rather good change overall.
A full disclosure would mean basically a novel and then people wouldn’t have bothered reading it anyway and would have complained about them giving us wall of text.
The new player might not want to play pvp or wvw like the op suggested as a problem.
Plus if these images aren’t final and they do intend to add more options or different dailies for lower levels than they should better communicate that in their post but since they didn’t, this thread remains very important for dev’s to look at and comment on so we get a better understanding.
I mean what is worse, questioning a non-fully communicated feature to which has a chance to be poorly implemented to then be changed and be better for the game or letting said feature be released hoping to god that it’s good and only to find out it was everything that the post said and wait longer to get things fixed.
Sorry but your post comes of very negative in a way that your fed up with people not trusting Anet and questioning everything they do like they have a track record of disasters.
And some players might not want to do anything other than logging in and chatting, should they also get 10 APs per day and all the rewards gotten from specific dailies? Where should we draw the line?
Or people could, you know, wait until something is released before raging like mad?
Should they really give us 20 different pictures to show us that every single type of player will have enough stuff to do every single day?
It is most likely already way too late to change anything anyway. The release is set to go live in a couple of days. They won’t have time to rebuild or change it in any major way. So why not let them release it and then make changes based on actual experience of the system?
If they were to make sure everyone got every single question answered they would have to write a novel for every single change they made, which people would also complain about being too much text.
It might sound negative simply because it is silly that every single time something is announce people rage like mad without having even tried it. Just look at the NPE. Before it was release it was the worst thing ever and yet when people actually started trying it most people felt that it wasn’t so bad after all.
Btw, the post above mine doesn’t have a leg to stand. Any company with a proper logistics would have started LS2 earlier, so it would have ended 2 weeks before Wintersday, this way everybody would have been happy: players had their luminescent, devs would have had time to iron bugs before going on vacation. But I guess that’s asking too much. It seems logistics is the weakest point in the whole Anet.
So basically rushing out something before it was ready just to get the schedule in a way you would prefer?
Do we know if those pictures are actually the final version of the system though? It is also an example.
Based on the picture we got a low-level character can complete two out of three needed dailies in PvE alone. Then add to that 8 other possible ones from PvP and WvW.
It is also fully possible that there will actually be more dailies from each category available or dailies based on your character level.
One should also keep in mind that they are achievements. While this game is rather bad at actually making achievements something you achieve, the original idea is that you actually have to do (achieve) a very specific thing to complete an achievement.

I wonder if we will ever have a change that people will wait for being implemented before they rage like mad about it.
Maybe the better system would simply be to not talk about it until it was actually released.
WvW needs content updates, not band-aids.
You mean like Edge of the Mists that people have been raging and whining about since it was released?
Isn’t it better to actually test out things first? Maybe this time people will actually be truthful when it comes to the feedback (seeing as clearly the ones doing EotM feedback lied according to most people on these forums).
You don’t have to level up.
You can access PvP and WvW from level 2.
I cash in laurels weekly for T6 bags which I sell the contents of. It’s a nice weekly kick in savings. Take this and the monthly 10 away that’s 40g of “free” coin a month.
Except that they aren’t removing the Laurels, they are just moving them.
As far as we know you will still net the same amount of laurels each month if you are actively playing.
This is what I said:
I would say that doing 3 dailies (along the line of “kill 3 people in WvW”)
“Kill 3 people in WvW” is an EXAMPLE of ONE daily. You need to complete THREE of those.
Does it matter?
It does matter rather much for the discussion yes.
Of course. But would they do it because of the free stuff for logging in or would they have done it anyway?
^ Can we then assume that you will either not open or at the very least will delete all the rewards gotten from the login-reward system?
I also really don’t see how giving us stuff for free from simply logging in somehow turns to giving us stuff for free makes us give them money.
Since you’re going to be obtuse about this:
3 daily activities = 1 daily achievement reward = a daily(achievement) has 3 parts
1 out of 4 = no daily
2 out of 4 = no daily
3 out of 4 = daily
4 out of 4 = extra reward on top of daily
I don’t really see how that is any different from what I first said.
Completing 3 dailies along the lines of (such as about the same difficulty/time-requirement) kill 3 people in WvW WILL mean you have completed your daily.
So because someone doesn’t see this change in a negative light, you assume they are getting paid by anet?
Oh, haven’t you heard?
Everyone that doesn’t hate everything about the game is paid by ArenaNet.
No, that is a daily.
You only need to do 3 of the available dailies (across all categories) to get the AP rewards.
Oh wait, I didn’t read the article properly. The 28 square “reward calendar” isn’t for doing dailies 28 times, it’s for logging in 28 times. Okay, that is a little excessive for just logging in. But I guess it kinda makes up for no longer being able to do dailies in under 30 minutes.
I would say that doing 3 dailies (along the line of “kill 3 people in WvW”) will take way less than 30 minutes for most people.

Therefore he didn’t want to say how many episodes are going to be left in the season, but did say that starting with the Halloween episode they are back on their two-week cadence up through Wintersday on December 16th before going on holiday break.
Which is exactly what they are doing.
They are releasing something two weeks after the last update, in this case it will be Wintersday, then they take a holiday break.
How is that not exactly what they said?
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
However, the Log-in Rewards scream “lazy desperation to increase statistics” to me. Like somewhere down the line of management promised a higher up ’we’ll increase log-in numbers’ and rather than going the proper route of making continuous playability enjoyable, they’re promoting log-in-once-and-leave mentality.
While that would indeed be the case if it was along the lines of many others which basically resets if you do not log-in one day the system they are implementing seems to be remembering your place, so even if you only log-in once a month you will still progress on the track.
It is rather unlikely that people that wouldn’t login anyway would log in every day just to get a reward that they will have no use for unless they actively play the game.
They have, as far as I am aware, never actually used the bi-weekly updates as a selling point except during the periods where it is actually true. So no, it is very unlikely that anyone could bring a lawsuit against them.
They never said: “We will always update the game every other week, forever” either for that matter.
If I said, I’ll give you $100 cash right now, or $1 on every one of your birthdays which would you take? (Let’s assume you live to 85)
But that would net me less money.
That is not the case with the content.
We would have gotten the same content with the yearly updates, but released in a package rather than spread out over time.
The content wouldn’t magically become bigger/longer/better because they bunched it together.
In my example the one day represented the lifespan of Guild Wars 2. You’re over-thinking the example. A lot.
So you would basically be happy with a few releases (lets say one per year for three years) and then never have any new release again?
Every player you kill in WvW will gain your world a point. Earn an extra point by using a finisher while your world has Borderlands Bloodlust. Objectives under attack will not display their customary white sword, and the Mist War Summons buff will give you an extra +15% WXP gain, +50% Magic Find in WvW, and +15% experience on kills in WvW. If all goes well, this will be just the first of many special events in WvW.
Isn’t the definition of an event that they change/add stuff?
There would still be a slice of bread for each meal.
Now my math is not all that good but as far as I am aware 1 slice of bread is more than 0 turkeys.
But after that day when you need to eat again there will not be anything to eat. Nor will there ever be anything to eat again.
History indicates that an expansion will satisfy players. 2 classes, 1 new continent, and a few hundred new skills. ANet used to churn those out yearly, but for whatever reason they decided to do a Living Story instead.
Except that people complained like mad back then as well.
People always talk about those hundreds of new skills but forgets the fact that many of them were either complete copies of already existing skills or were simply not used.
They also managed to do it twice after that they released another somewhat large update and a bunch of smaller ones, but other than that nothing.
Would you have preferred if they had stopped updating the game by now if they had added big bunch of contents yearly for two years?
So not true. I started GW1 about a year ago and it certainly took me longer than that.
If you side-track and do side-stuff sure. But if you just do the primary quests and the missions it doesn’t take more than a few days (with much of the time spent grinding stuff in order to progress ^^).
For everyone complaining about this:
Would you really prefer to have a (potentially big) release now with potential progression breaking issues that would not be fixed for weeks due to holiday?
I can almost guarantee that the same people complaining about the short break would also be the loudest if they did release it just before the holidays and something broke and couldn’t be fixed until after the holidays.
Isnt it a bit funny that people complain about the Living Story or the game overall due to it having you repeat stuff in order to get what you want, and yet they claim that Factions and Nightfall gave them more to do.
Just going through the story of Faction and Nightfall takes a couple of days at most.
