While not a mini, the pet rock itself already exists in-game:
buggy bug bug.
Just out of curiosity, where in lore does it say he made them ( soldiers and civilians ) stay?
He basically banished anyone who decided to follow Rurik (who wanted to retreat and seek the aid of Kryta) and as such most people decided to not follow Rurik.
The few soldier going with Rurik were not even close enough to defend all the civilians and as such they had little to no chance of survival if all the civilians came with them.
So basically Adelbern indirectly forced people to stay.
Nah, let’s leave the strawmen out of it. When people start demanding that, you can start chastising them for it.
But why should they be forced to do content they hate, while others shouldn’t?
Why is it really that different?
I have met multiple people that “play” MMOs simply as interactive chat-rooms, rather than actual games. So those kind of people actually do exist. And why should they have to go out of their way to do stuff when people here demand that they shouldn’t have to leave PvE (which they don’t even have to do) in order to do it?
Do not post potential exploits here.
Email them directly to ArenaNet: exploits@arena.net is the address I believe.
Cos as people have said time and time again, we don’t want to do content we hate. Do you want to do content you hate? No? Then please take your fallacious argument out to the pretentiousness dump where it belongs, kthxbai.
But how is it the games fault that people simply refuse to play parts of the game?
One could of course also point out that dailies are in no way or form even slightly required to enjoy the game. You can play whatever you want in the game, without even checking out what the dailies are.
And about the whole “don’t want to do content we hate”: Where to draw the line?
Should people that only login and basically use the game as an interactive chat also get their 10 APs every day for simply logging in and chatting? Maybe they hate all other content in the game?
I just saw the other day that someone made the real quaggan hats in the orca and standard versions and I want to know why these people haven’t been hired.
There are not even quaggan plushies or T shirts in the store.
Don’t you guys want our money?
Keep in mind that making such things does cost money. That means that would have to take a rather high price for them. Which might mean that people don’t want to buy them due to being too expensive, and as such they might end up losing money rather than earning money.
Anet will make an expansion when they really lose a lot of player. Who knows if it’s gonna be 2015 or 2016.
Want an expansion? Stop playing GW2.
Or it could do the complete opposite.
Losing many people could make NCSoft decide spending money on an expansion would not be worth it, and as such an expansion would never happen.
Why do people keep shouting about there being no choice but to do Fractals?
WvW and PvP is open to everyone. You have however CHOSEN to not do them. That is not the games fault. It is yours. YOU decide to limit yourself.
I would have seen it as an honorable sacrifice to give the last of my people a fighting chance to live. At least that would have been mine reasoning. Adelbern probably just did it out of spite and anger.
But forcing them to stay in Ascalon didn’t give them a fighting chance to live. There was no chance whatsoever that they would survive the Charr invasion forever. Fleeing to Kryta in search of aid (and potentially use their help to reclaim Ascalon) would be much more about giving people a fighting chance.
Wasn’t the other 100 expansion threads enough?
This, miss old good times where you had like after 2 years, nearly 58 skills to create something unique, and you were always able to break meta.
Yeah… except for the fact that people never actually broke the meta. The meta changed due to ArenaNet making big changes to the meta-skills.
A bit like how it is here, when they do large changes to certain skills or traits.
Rose-tinted glasses seems to be rather common on these forums now and then.
That’s the stupidest thing i ever read. Gw2 players don’t want to have more of game they love?
I have gotten loads of more Guild Wars 2 since release despite there being no expansion. So clearly we can get more of the game without expansion.
Let’s just put this to rest. Companies are greedy. Companies love money. An expansion = more money. An expansion = a lot more money.
Therefore, there will be an expansion. I can almost guarantee it. Only way there won’t be is if ANET/NCSOFT doesn’t love money.
Expansion is a more money IF they are sure it will sell for more than it would cost to develop.
If that however is not the case it would end up with them actually losing money.
I don’t care if this subject is repeated every day ANet needs to be aware that we won’t let up and we will continue to express our interest in an expansion that adds a substantial amount to the map (like a 1/3 to 1/2 increase in size), with new story lines, world bosses for each zone, with an elder dragon open world event.
We will never relent, we will persevere!
But who are we? And why should your we be more important then anyone elses we? There are many people that do not want an expansion, why should those people be ignored?
I am also very interested how you would think an Elder Dragon open world event would work, especially considering their size.
Keep in mind that it basically took thousands of people to destroy Zhaitan, and that is not really something that would work very well in the open world.
We got an answer during the Living Story.
The answer was: Irrelevant.
Then why did Ascalon win the war?
Does killing every single human (and forcing them to return as Ghosts forever) really count as “win the war”? (Even if that happened in Guild Wars 2s time line). There was nothing whatsoever in Guild Wars 1 that suggests that Ascalon won the war.
Most parts of Ascalon is controlled by the Charr, the parts that aren’t are controlled by Ghosts, not Humans.
Or someone investigating a reported issue?
Funny how people always complain about the lack of devs/GMs/whatever in game, and yet when they actually end up in game to check out issues (that people also complain about them never doing) people start shouting about abusing powers and cheating.
They were back in the days. And that just gave them more grieve than the current situation.
Let me understand this. You want to argue semantics as a counterpoint that there will be an expansion next year? Fine. I don’t ‘need’ to get into a debate about vocabulary again either. Show me, or anyone on these boards, where there is even a hint of ANet releasing an expansion within that timeframe.
Find it.
We’ll wait.
But it is rather important.
What they said those 1,5 years ago was that they don’t NEED to make an expansion in order to pay the bills.
Nothing in that line says that they WON’T make an expansion.
Do you only ever do stuff you actually NEED to do? Or do you do stuff you WANT to do as well?
I for one will just continue playing as I do now. I find the addition of the Living Story to be enough to keep me interested and there are still WvW and sPvP between those.
If I get bored I simply play another game that day. Simple as that.
What part of “We don’t need an expansion to pay the bills,” are you not getting? And it’s not two years. It’s still one. And the statement was made mid-year to boot.
We don’t need is not the same as we won’t.
They don’t NEED to release the living world updates either (seeing as people usually don’t pay for them) in order to pay the bills.
We don’t NEED to play the game in order to have fun, and yet we still do.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the main reason the meat won last time was due to the help of their Gods.
The thing to keep in mind is that Rurik’s betrayal could severely undermine the King, and have a bad effect on troop morale. And his journey across the Shiverpeaks could just as easily have resulted in the death of all those Ascalons, and not just himself. Its easy to look back in hindsight and say that he was right. But what he did was wrong, even if his intentions were good.
Wasn’t the choices basically: Stay and more or less guarantee the death of everyone or seek aid and risk the death of everyone?
I got that impression while playing the story at least.
Thanks for posting Gaile, quick question… is anything ACTUALLY happening?
Apparently Mr H is still around and playing although he’s been reported countless times and Chris even said he dealt with it.
It’s tough to trust in the integrity of this game lately.
Do you really think people would (or should) get a perma-ban the first time?
You still get 10 APs per daily completion (3 dailies).
Which map?
There is one map (Legacy of the Foefire) that have an NPC that gives 150 points when killed.
There is another map (Temple of the Silent Storm) where you can take a buff that automatically turns all cap points to their team.
Yeah, as I understand it next month they will completely be rid of monthlies – and instead you get that big kitten chest at the end of 30 daily log-in rewards.
28 days.
It sounds great even when it will be much more difficult to make then it was in gw1. Only problem is player base in gw2 is faaaar more casual (I wish there is some word even for casual casuals) then it was in gw1 and whole dev team will drown in tears 5 minutes after this feature will launch:-D
Ah yes. The good old copy a bunch of builds from the internet and then AFK most of the fights? ^^
Every potential tab added requires server-space. Not much, but even 1 byte ends up being rather much when multiplied by millions.
I personally don’t need more bank space, but I wouldn’t be against them adding more if they figured it would earn them more than it would cost.
I wonder how well this whole DPS DPS DPS role would work without the Support ability of Might (and Fury).
Or the Protection and healing.
Or the control used against certain mobs such as reflects, stuns and immobilize.
Did you even bother to read his posts?
Yes, but when I posted he had only made the FIRST post, which didn’t in any way or for address those issues.
They are moved to the login reward system. So simply logging in will get you Laurels now and then.
You are missing a rather large difference between Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2.
In Guild Wars 1 everything was instanced and created specifically for you and your party.
In Guild Wars 2 you share all maps with everyone.
For hard mode to work they would basically need to run multiple different versions of every map at all times.
Another thing that made HM what it was in Guild Wars 1 was vanquishing, something that won’t really work in Guild Wars 2 due to mobs respawning and such (yet again due to lack of personal instances).
So a tiny bit of work is okay? But not too much?
What is your opinion if I made a new thread asking for achievements to be modified so they represent “great” effort as noted in your dictionary definition? We could start with the earlier examples I mentioned…
You should be all for this, right? After all, that would bring things more in line with your own citation.
I have never said anything about the amount of work.
I would have no issues with achievements taking much more effort to be honest. In fact I would love to have a bunch really hard achievements.
The new Living Story ones are a step in the right direction, but it should be getting even harder in my opinion.
Then why is it you get 5 AP for donating 3 silver to Ho-Ho tron, but only 3 AP for playing 30 Snowball Mayhem games?
Because you can repeat the Snowball achievement?
And this is relevant how? Are we suggesting achievements should be like getting a perfect score in Bell Choir (one for 100 song and one for 600 round)?
Chopping every single tree in Plains of Ashford?
Killing the Great Jungle Wurm (instead of the dinky one)?
Donate 100 gold to Ho-Ho-Tron?
Hit 25 players with snowballs without getting hit back?
If you’re going to talk about how achievements should fit some dictionary definition of the word, would you care to explain how most of the current ones fit this definition?
It is relevant because people seems to dislike the fact that you have to actually do or work a bit for the achievements.
If we actually look for the definition it is rather clear that an achievement is something you actually should have to work for. Either with skill or with time.
+100 – Cant agree more. Much disliked (and still dislike) the game changes implemented during the past 6 months (they killed a big chunk of my excitement I felt for the game) for the same reasons you mentioned. Havent even logged into the game since Wintersday patch. One of the final features of getting awarded just for logging in and logging out summarizes it perfectly for me: Arenanet has become so unsecure about / cynical towards their own game, they just want people to login and logout. Obviously nothing of real excitement left to do ingame any longer … very sad.
Wait, so you are basically complaining about something you haven’t even tried?
a•chieve•ment (??t?iv m?nt)
n.
1. something accomplished, as through great effort, skill, perseverance, or courage.
2. the act of achieving; attainment or accomplishment.
I’ll just leave this here.
Of course as long as Adelbern is King, Rurik is only a Prince, and it really wasn’t his call. So Rurik was in the wrong here, even if his intentions were good. He went directly against the order of his father, the King. That is an act of treason, simple as that.
And yet acts of treason is not always wrong.
Should you really listen to a ruler that would rather get his whole kingdom killed rather than ask for help due to pride?
Was it unranked or was it hot join? Those are two different things.
Also keep in mind that pre-made guild group != insta-win. I have met mutiple full guild groups in ranked, with solo joiners and most of the time it is rather even.
It seems they don’t care.
Or maybe they weren’t as good as you think? Maybe they simply were the best of the worst so to speak.
Posting their names here will get you punished. Not them.
Did they kick with no sort of conversation or such before?
1: In order to stop people from getting the full set of Ascended within hours of it being released.
2: In order to make crafting more profitable due to being able to sell said time-gated components.

You are ignoring the fact that you can select a bunch of Laurels from the day 28 reward.
Yeah, but the frostbitten tools only provide the tier 1 snowflakes.
True, but it is quite easy to upgrade them to higher tiers.
For those of us who dislike WvW and PvP the new dailies truly suck. There are so many people trying to do events its hard to get a shot in and get credit for the events. And really? Re-doing vistas I did 2 years ago? And don’t even get me started on the lack of laurels for those of us who are crafters. Anet the new dailies were ill-thought-out.
You can get more Laurels per month now than you could before. But I suppose that doesn’t count?
Now we need a snowflake sink. The prices of the snowflakes have sunk to a few coppers now that the market has been flooded.
Well the Mystic Forge recipe is rather useful. 10 of each of the mid-tier snowflakes for 5 Giant Wintersday gifts.
Actually you can get more than 50 laurels per month, which would be an rather large increase from the 41 (which only was possible by doing the daily every single day and also only during the months that actually had 31 days. In February for example it would be as low as 38).
Every 28th day you get 2% permanent gold drop increase for your account. You also get rather much stuff from doing dailies which would most likely sell for more than those 12 gold coins you got with the old system.
How are they increasing the time it takes to make Ascended gear? I would say quite the opposite actually if you go with the Ascended Materials with the 28-day chest, since that gives quite a boost to the Ascended crafting deal.

Except that people that are already good would end up getting more rewards for doing ranked PvP.
I guess you just enjoy grinding. Nothing wrong with that. It’s just that some people don’t. And I’m pretty sure that one of GW2’s…“features”…was “nearly grind-free game”. Which is a bit ironic nowadays.
And yet the new dailies that people rage about in this thread means LESS grinding.
And no, they never said the game would be grind-free (or nearly grind-free). They said that you are not forced to grind to access all the content.
