Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
well the trailer to me only feel like LS for HoT
same hero’s
same weapon ( only weapon different, its look like a spear on sylvari hand at 1:17)
and the logo at last got spiky. just look like those plant in LSso i wont got any hope for this
So an expansion only counts if it completely disregard the ongoing story and starts with a completely new set of heroes, a completely new story and completely new weapons..?
I am not really sure how much experience you have with games overall, but that is usually not the case when it comes to expansions.

What bothers me about the Wynne development is that Caithe basically said “no kitten the Pale Tree knows how she died, all she had to do was look into the Dream”. How does that square up with the premise of an entire PS arc being that no one knew, Pale Tree included, how Riannoc died?
I suppose it might have been explained with the fact that Riannoc was not killed by a Sylvari, whilst Wynne were. And as such the Dream got information from Caithe rather than Wynne.
What makes you so sure she doesn’t know more?
She quite clearly neglected to tell us certain rather important facts all those times we talked to her.
She didn’t really tell us there was a plant Dragon. She told us about Mordremoth specifically, not a “plant dragon”.
But wasn’t it common knowledge (at least between those that had to do with the Dragons) that there were six of them?
It was quite clearly known by the Asura, even that it was tied to plats. So why is it so far fetched to assume others knew as well?
As for the Sylvari themselves, that could rather easily be explained by the Dream. They simply come into the world with the knowledge of the Jungle Dragon (although not with ALL knowledge, clearly), either by someone having learned of it earlier, or by it being part of the “original” Dream.
Why assume that we will only ever face one Dragon at a time?
We also have to keep in mind that all other Dragons (as far as we know) are already awake, while the story about Mordremoth have spent two years to basically “start”. And as such it is rather unlikely that it will take as much time between the other Dragons.
Yes, it has been confirmed multiple times that Abaddon is gone for good. His power still exists, but in Kormir.
Unless they go completely against what have been established for years, Abaddon won’t suddenly turn up.
To me that floating spellcaster looks more like a Mursaat or possible a Seer.
Did you even read my post?
The name Rytlock is very closely tied to Guild Wars 2 (a google search more or less only returns GW2-related hits) and as such it would make sense for them to not want people to use them.
There is also this part on the naming policy:
This policy may not cover all inappropriate or disallowed names. ArenaNet reserves the right to reject any name it concludes, in its sole and absolute discretion, is indecent, obscene, offensive, or that otherwise violates our naming policy or the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement. ArenaNet reserves the right to examine names on a case-by-case basis and take whatever action we deem necessary in our sole and absolute discretion. We reserve the right, in our sole and absolute discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this Guild Wars 2 Naming Policy at any time.
I suppose they might add the “do not use names of characters in the game”, seeing as it seems to be a rather common reason for naming changes.
Similar?
How is Rytlock similar? It is identical. It is also a name that I, personally, have never heard outside of Guild Wars lore.
It is one thing to have a name like Logan or Pete because both of those names are used quite often around the world (both in stories and in real life), but a name like Rytlock is quite clearly a reference to the character in question. Which is owned by NCSoft.

There you have the full policy.
2 files remaining, 2gb and still ongoing…. I doubt the patch is this big.
something wrong??
I play every day, so there’s no way this is about retro patching.
My updated ended at around that number as well.
While the patch itself appears to be around 700 mb (based on reports) it appears that if something is not downloaded correctly it re-downloads it thus adding to the actual download. This could be due to very slight disconnects and such.
20 gb downloaded and climbing. This is ridiculous…
Sounds like you have a corrupted DAT-file and as such the game is downloading everything again.
I believe every profession in the game have access to stability actually.
HotM was pretty dead last night compared to previous nights. My queue was much longer as well.
Which most likely had to do with the fact that the finale of S2 of the living story was released.
I don’t intend derailing the hype train, but here’s a thing:
“On January 8 2015, NCsoft filed to trademark Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns. The type of the trademark is service mark.”
You are ignoring the fact that there were multiple ones filed.
Two of which were trademarks for toys and games respectively.
http://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4802:hqyty.2.3
http://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4802:hqyty.2.4
EDIT: eh, the links might not work.
In that case just go here http://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/index.jsp and search for Guild Wars and you will see multiple points for Heart of Thorns.
I also took the liberty to remove the comment on the wiki, seeing as it is false.

sry missread. I thought u guys meant the “dark secret” was that caithe was a murderer :P. Maybe thats it, Scarlet maybe never knew that Caithe new about the dragon spawn thing. But actually ment that Caithes big secret was the fact she killed Wynne and just later on tried to reveal that by saying “ur fantastic caithe is a murderer”
Wouldn’t make sense since she made it clear that Faolain didn’t know the secret.
Faolain did however know that Caithe did kill Wynne.
I have learned myself to not have high expectations. I know from leakage of information there will be a new race (Tengu) and new zones to explore, but I do not have any more expectations for WvW and PvP balance, because of mistakes done so far in listening wrong feedback coming from kids complaining on forums. So please forgive me if I do not have any high expectations. What will be… will be… same for me.
I would love to have a source for that leaked information.
The post you made right now is the exact reason why people overhype and rage about stuff.
What you said here will be taken as outright facts by some people and if it does not happen, people will blame ArenaNet for lying and rage like mad.
I understand that Scarlet knew the fate of sylvari, or their ‘destiny’. I guess I didn’t what to be so specific cause of SPOILERS and all but here it comes.
I was wondering how Scarlet knew that Caithe killed Wynne. She specifically said “I know your dark secret”.
I do not think that the secret was Caithe killing Wynne but rather the fact that Sylvari was minions of Mordremoth.
No it wasn’t a logo for the last episode of the living story.
The last episode of the living story was called Point of no Return, not Heart of Thorns.
We also got a trailer for Heart of Thorns yesterday, which quite clearly did not show what we have already seen.
A more concrete announcement will most likely be made on PAX South on January 24th.
He probably died on the ship that attacked Mordy, no longer relevant
Jokes aside, yeah they said that. Didn’t we get an epilogue at the end of Season 1, Aftermath or something was it called.
Yes, we did, which is why I am thinking we might be getting one this time around as well.
I would assume that she knew about Mordemoth due do being directly influenced by it, which as far as I understand it, was the secret in question.
how did they buy the game in the first place if they dont have access to credit cards….?
currently 100gems is around 14-17 gold (depending on the hour) i can hardly believe making 100 gems be around 30 gold a win for everyone.
Again, im well aware of the conviniences that having such item in the gem store can be, but it wont be without a massive influence on gold->gem conversion rates which will never go back to “normal”, and can only go higher
They bought it in a store?
Aye, I am aware that the rates would change quite a bit. I am simply saying that I am not sure that is a bad thing.
Higher rates means people would be more interested in spending real money for gems, which means more money for the game, which could mean more resources spent on developing said game. Thus a win for everyone.
People refuting arguments with actual evidence is not ‘bullying’.
Except that none of those evidences are actually conclusive. It all comes down to working only if all dragon minions are equal and if there is only one type of minion.
Maybe we have an epilogue coming which will show us?
Factions wasn’t about Abaddon, it was about Shiro’s attempt to return to life from being an Envoy. That was really the whole plot – Abaddon kicked it off by planting the seeds in his head but he didn’t FORCE Shiro and Shiro didn’t serve him until he was sent to the Realm of Torment.
Debatably, Prophecies wasn’t about Abaddon either . . . but then it changed stories about four or five times through the course of the campaign.
Lastly, Eye of the North was not about Abaddon. At all.
The whole story about Shiro is very tied into Abaddon being behind it. The whole attack on the Emperor part of the story (which basically created the whole premises for Factions) were done by having Abaddon send a servant to corrupt and use Shiro.
Much of Prophecies can be seen as tied to Abaddon as well. One of the main things being the fact that the Door led directly into his domain. Not to mention the Titans, that were his minions which made the Charr destroy Ascalon with the Searing, thus setting the whole story into action.
The only actual part of Guild Wars 1 that didn’t have connections to Abaddon would have been Eye of the North (which many people keep claiming was the worst of Guild Wars 1), due to it rather setting the stage for Guild Wars 2 rather than continuing the Guild Wars 1 story.
I am seeing season two along the lines of Iron Man 1-2, Thor, The Incredible Hulk and Captain America to the Heart of Thorns The Avengers.
So people that do not have access to credit cards should not be able to get it at all (unless they sell it in actual stores, which seems somewhat unlikely in my eyes)?
In fact adding it to the gem store would be a rather good idea, since it would drive up rates and making it more attractive to buy gems with real money, which is a win for everyone, but at the same time also making it possible for people without the ability to pay with real money to get access to it.
Funny how people seems to have an issue with everything (which is not even the case) being about the Dragons and yet the same people usually praise how good Guild Wars 1 was. Despite everything (and that was basically actually everything) was about Abaddon.
Funny how people have been demanded that information should be shown in-game since released. And now when it finally is it is the worst thing ever apparently.
Might I suggest posting it in the correct forum, which will make it easier for the devs to find and identify the issue?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Bottom-Line-of-Vinewrath-isn-t-opening
Some more details would probably also be good. (Seems to have to do with one of the lanes being at the boss according to reddit).
New voice?
It is the same voice as the original release (Felicia Day).
Might I suggest getting some defensive stats/skills?
I don’t know, I usually play for fun, but that might just be me I suppose.
Because they are not part of the Pact and as such calling us Commander would be a bit weird and make no sense? ^^
Where are all these evidence against the theory? As far as I have seen in all the threads there have been quite a few assumptions and such, but never any actual facts that prove one side or the other.
Claiming that it wasn’t the fate of the Sylvari upon their creation is a very bold statement. Do you have anything to back it up with or are you just raging because you don’t like the way the story evolves?
Every time the theory has popped up, it uses Glint or nurture v. nature as examples, and both examples fail in comparison with the Pale Tree because of the nature of the ritual and the fact that dragon minions are generally mindless (sans champions) and are part of a hive mind, lacking free will. Sylvari have no similarities to any dragon minion group – they do not have hive minds, despite the claims that the Dream is such, Kalleen in GoA outright states it’s not a hive mind. As such, nurture has nothing to do with the (once potential_ purification of the Pale Tree. The ritual of the Forgotten requires specific geographical locations, so while theoretically possible, is unlikely for the seeds to have been put under that process – and because it requires a lot of resources, as said in the same interview as the mention of specific geographical locations – why do such on a group of seeds (or a single seed)?
That’s just the tip of the iceberg, and I really don’t feel like going into it.
On the latter portion, it was in how they were revealed, really. Although the cave full of seeds were full of terrible plant creatures, everything else really pointed to them being new and never existed before. The very lack of documents on them, despite knowledge of Mordremoth and his corruption, should point to this in fact.
And hell, the sylvari look nothing like the mordrem – nor does the Pale Tree look anything like Mordrem (unless there’s something in the new update that shows that some do look sylvari/pale tree-like). It’s not just me raging, but really nothing in the original reveal even hinted to “sylvari=dragon minions”. Not even in the initial release were there such things – the fact that a sylvari was in the center of the Forgotten ritual and had no change, the fact that there was continuously no evidence of sylvari in the past, despite (albeit damaged) records and myths of every dragons’ influence and minions? There would have been hints – more than just “the Nightmare may be tied” hints that we got – if this was planned from the beginning.
So, the whole thing that points against the (clearly true) theory was that it didn’t work the same way as everything else? There is nothing in any of those points that PROVE anything at all.
Sylvari are clearly completely different from Glint, so assuming they would need to be freed in the same way as Glint is a bit far-fetched and so on.
The Dragons clearly are different, with different methods and such, so why assume that freeing minions from their influence works the exact same way?
All it comes down to people disagreeing with things, nothing about any actual proof.
EDIT:
Ah, see that you have written more now, so clearly it is a case of raging rather than actual facts.
What is that, the third time you quit the game now?
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
I am rather certain that Faolain have never been claimed to be the first to fall to Nightmare.
Do we really need to use another memory seed and play as caithe again?
Not as such…
I’m actually quite disappointed, If this is indeed the “big background project” they’ve been working for two years.
I’ve never been into the new lore of GW2, or PvE, however I always hoped that we’ll be returning to the other two continents by the time the first expansion rolls out, but, it’s quite obvious that this new thing confirms the opposite, it’s as if they’re avoiding GW1.
So, no thumbs up from me, but I’m hoping that this supposed expansion pack at least brings a new map and extremely needed WvW changes.
Did you play the update?
Because if you did I can’t really see how you could claim that they are avoiding GW1 with a straight face.
Also going to other continents at this time wouldn’t really make any sense, seeing as there are still a rather large amounts of Dragons (the main enemy of the game) active in Tyria.
So, in other words the most cited, fanfiction-ish and unfounded theory since beta was supposedly one of anet’s story’s greatest mysteries?
I hope that isn’t something the writers are proud of.
I don’t even really know what to say. Just wow. Lame.
Unfounded?
The fact that people have been discussing it since beta would suggest that there were indeed things pointing towards it, ergo not unfounded.
So, you rather want them to release it in the middle of the night EU-time?
Because that is basically the only other option, seeing as they don’t get to work long before the patch is usually released.
Since the main events will probably take place in story instances I really don’t see how much more they can say without spoiling stuff.
The amount of letters in a patch notes usually have rather little to do with how big the patch actually is.
We’ve seen recent patches happen an hour or two before the daily reset. But, honestly, whenever ANet decides.
We don’t know.
Hm?
Do EU and NA have different daily resets in that case? Because as far as I remember we have never had a release that late.
" first Trademark registration since the game was initially released"
You mean LONG before the game released? Because the trademarks took place A LONG time before release i believe.
Doesn’t change the fact that this is the first trademark registration since the game was released.
I said nothing at all about the registration of the Guild Wars 2 trademark. I just used release as a point of reference.
What are the odds that this is simply just the name for LS3? I’m not exactly sure why everyone immediately thinks expansion. If this does pertain to another physical release of some sort, then maybe it’s just a “boxed set” of a bundled LS1 & 2?
The fact that this is (as far as I can find) the first Trademark registration since the game was initially released would point more towards an expansion than just S3 (especially since none of the other seasons (or episodes) have been trademarked.)
The time of day is irrelevant. When Arenanet et al filed for a trademark, they knew word would get out almost immediately and will have already discussed when and if they should respond to hype.
To be fair it did take several days before it got out.
It was filled on January 8th. That is almost a week ago.
However, whatever it is, it must live up to the community’s expectations, because most of us are going 1000mph aboard the hype train… And an accident would be devastating, on both sides.
Stuff will never live up to the community’s expectations seeing as the community’s expectations are not really plausible.
^^^ this
This news spread like wildfire in an already expansion craving community.
If this is not an expansion, they should have defused this situation immediately.
You are aware that most employees are probably not even up yet, right?
If we go the whole day (their time) without a word, I would agree, but right now they most likely haven’t even seen it yet.
My guess is if the staff doesn’t quash the expansion rumor now, and it’s not an expansion, there’s going to be a riot.
And if they do people will riot anyway due to them “saying there would be an expansion!!!!” by registering the trademark.
Even IGN posted an article about it. Word got out about this being a possible expansion…they are kinda obligated now to deliver it. If not..i don’t even want to know how big of a blow it will be to their image..both to new players & especially to oldschool players who have asked for this for years now.
It would be one of the biggest backfires any mmo would have received in recent years…..quite literally if u try to think about it.
And all the rage it would be completely undeserved, seeing as ArenaNet (or NCSoft for that matter) have said anything at all about it and people are just speculating.
But then again, people would not really care about that small but oh so important detail ^^
Season Two still doesn’t even have an official name…. and it would only make sense to give it one. Heart of Thorns is a pretty fitting name for S2 imo.
S1 didn’t have an official name either.
If anything S2 have more of an official name (at least for the second half) Point of no Return.
