Krall Peterson – Warrior

No, you do not need to be level 18.
You can enter it at level 2.
I understand ArenaNet needs to make money but I agree that suddenly having Season 2 of Living World pay to play without prior announcement was a bit … lame. (Especially since it was free for everyone up until a certain time.)
A friend of mine came back to play through it as soon as HOT was announced and we were both shocked that it was pay to play for them. (They ended up going ahead and purchased it but still…)
Suddenly? Without prior announcement?

That was released almost a month before Season 2 started.

I would totally summon Colin if that was possible..
with what I said I more mean masteries. how it was talked about made it seem like it’s exclusively for maguma.
Well it does sound like you will be able to get Mastery Points all across the game-world so it is rather likely that the Masteries can also be used everywhere.
The article also talks about a Malik, which we know means Mallyx (based on the information from the stream). So it is fully possible that they actually said maps but the author either misheard or mistyped.
It might simply also be talking about the region Heart of Maguuma. They usually refer to the zones as zones rather than maps after all.
The first one can rather easily be explained by the Mists.
Rytlock might simply have returned from the Mists with his new powers before he went into the Mists.
As for the second I really see no issues with Charr being able to “summon” human heroes and so on.
Because people dislike having no idea when a certain thing happens and as such might never be able to do it?
It is also the case of having something truly random (which is impossible btw) could very well make it impossible to complete, due to too little people being in the area when it spawns.
My dat-file is about 21,4 gb. But that is most likely due to it being there from beta.
If you are using another language than English it will also increase the size quite a bit.
Very unlikely that we will get that before the expansion, considering that it will most likely require a rather large update.
We are getting changes tomorrow.

Well, the new Stronghold map is basically an advanced version of the GW1 GvG and they are adding guild leaderboards.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: lordkrall.7241
Wasn’t that basically what they said during the announcement?
The issue is that people are calling the BvB player-made mode for GvG, while GvG itself was an actual mode in GW1, which we are now getting a more advanced version of with Stronghold.
Between now and release of the expansion.
I would guess that we would have much (if not all) of the information before the playable demo at PAX East in 6 weeks.

Except that the Druids is a race in GW lore that uses the same abilities as the Druid shown in the trailers.
Different worlds have different versions of things.
The destruction of the Pact Fleet seems to take place around the same time as we fight the Shadow of the Dragon or shortly after. Which would make the year 1328 AE
I seem to recall Colin saying something about moments after the destruction of the Pact Fleet.
Nope, there are no add-ons (at least not legal ones).
There is however a guide in the game that points you towards events and other useful stuff.
For the main quest (the personal story and in extension the living story) there will be a green arrow (and a green star) that points towards where you should go in order to continue.
@lordkrall
Warhammer didn’t allow Blizzard to make a game about Warhammer 40k, so Blizz altered the looks and made their own.
I am aware of that.
It doesn’t change the fact that they are basically copying most of it though.
Both in Warcraft and Starcraft.
1: I would say the horn she has looks quite a bit like the horn the Charr have, which were released years before. Good try though.
2: The creature looks rather standard, and 2012 was not even close to the first time such a thing was used.
You are aware that Zerg from Starcraft is basically a more or less exact rip-off of the Warhammer 40k Tyranids, right?
GvG in Guild Wars 1 had a limit of 8 people per team.
With normalized stats so that everyone was on an even ground.
People are often referring to GW1 GvG as one of the best PvP-modes of all times.

That would only ever be an issue if those things were unbalanced and over-powered. And if that is indeed the case, they will be fixed rather fast after launch of the expansion.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

You are assuming that those things will be broken and unbalanced though.
The masteries are also PvE only, so won’t really effect any competitive mode at all, and as such no Pay to Win.
I would assume that you could switch between different specializations.

lol so it will be pay to win
and another dead game for me
Huh?
How did you jump to that conclusion?

You will be able to keep playing without buy the expansion yes, but you will not have access to the expansion specific features (most likely).
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: lordkrall.7241
Yes, you will have to pay for it.

Ah, you have simply already decided that it sucks and don’t really care about solutions, my bad then.

How does Dervish have any sort of connection whatsoever to the Ranger?
Making all specializations available to all professions would make no sense whatsoever. The specializations are a branch of the existing profession and that professions knowledge and abilities, and as such it would make no sense for a completely different profession to suddenly be able to use it.
Yes, but you can`t do all LS1 quests, you can`t do unless you pay all LS2 quests.
How is it smart to lock your new and returning players away from your main story/argument progress? How do you marketing this anyway? “Hey, there champ! since our LS is so great, we can`t let you play it since you didn`t buy the game on time or didn`t log in, but here, pay for it, or even better, watch it on youtube now!”
Terrific market strategy right there.
You can’t play the special pre-expansion events in WoW either, but you seems to disregard that for some reason. I also seems to recall quite a bit of stuff in the original FFXIV that is no longer available after the re-release, but that doesn’t count either I suppose?
Why do you refuse to acknowledge the fact that you DO NOT HAVE TO PAY IN ORDER TO ACCESS THE CONTENT?
Either you can trade gold for gems. OR you can join someone that have the content unlocked.
Paying with real money is one out of THREE options. Why do you only focus on that one while completely disregarding the other two?
I am rather certain that I can play stuff released 2 year ago in Guild Wars 2 as well.
Fractals being a great example.
Or why not Southsun Cove?
Or more recent examples: Edge of the Mists, Skyhammer, Temple of the Silent Storm, Courtyard and Spirit Watch?
You are still ignoring the fact that you can get gems via gold thus not paying anything. OR you can join someone that have them unlocked without even trading gold for gems.
You do not have to pay.
You can either simply not do it or you can join someone that have it unlocked and play it that way.
You are also ignoring the fact that you can trade gold to gems and unlock them that way.
I also have a feeling your friend have no idea what being scammed means. This is not something hidden. This has been outright stated multiple times, and if people had just spent a few minutes looking around the web they would have been fully aware of this change.
It is rather unlikely that there will be a new race.
In fact I find it rather unlikely that we will ever have a new race, since that would basically mean creating a rather large amount of new missions for the (original) Personal Story and it would also be hard for it to make sense.
Especially considering that they made a point of the Tengu hiding behind their walls.
Maybe he simply turned up from his journey in the Mists before he went into the Mists? ^^
The Mists are mysterious after all.
Unlikely that we will have another feature patch before HoT.
But then again, that depends on when HoT is actually released.
We do know that we will have a small patch tomorrow with some balancing though.
Fixes are usually given to everyone not just people buying an expansion.
Well, somebody knows – we had some earning projections charts for NCSoft make the rounds on the Wildstar boards a few weeks back and GW2 was expected to make an (at the time) inexplicable giant leap in income 3rd quarter.
Proof? No. Suggestive? Very.
To be fair the same company have made basically the same prediction every year since the game was released.
Orr and Southsun Cove are exactly what he described, only worse. Southsun Cove was so poorly implemented that, even after being reworked, it’s best avoided.
I have not seen a single heart in any of those areas.
They are also rather different compared to the other areas due to the whole structure of the events and so on. They are basically group-zones.
At the moment (it is possible that more would be added with an expansion though) it costs 43 gold and 360 skill points to unlock all major traits.

We don’t know how many maps there will be.
We know that there will be three different biomes. It is very unlikely that there will only be one map per biome in my eyes.
Maguuma is rather large, and we have a rather small part of it available in the game currently. If then even unlock only half of what we don’t have access to now, that will be rather large amount of areas.
Does the password include lower-case, upper-case, numbers and special letters?
I think this model should be called mini expansion.
1 prof. 1 specialization per prof. 1 region.
I mean it’s all good stuff but it’s less than I would traditionally expect so far.
You do not know how many zones there will be in the region. Nor do you know how big those zones will be.
We also don’t have any official statement that there will indeed only be one specialization per profession.
It is a bit early to claim that it is too little when all we have is basically the announcement that it exists.
I’ll level the “hard” way.
I would assume that the whole deal with Mawdrey was a test-run for the new precursor system. So will most likely be something along those lines.
Will we be able to play the demo in 6 weeks without being at pax east?
Very unlikely.
I would personally assume that the playable demo will be more or less a finished product.
They don’t have to completely build an engine and so after all, and have probably already spent almost two years working on it.
I would say that the closed beta will start soon after PAX, with a aim for release around the 10th anniversary of the series (April).
Aye, that is probably a slight oversight, and should indeed be fixed.
Hm?
I would say that Orr, Southsun Cove, Dry Top and Silverwastes are quite different from what you are describing there.
You will have to pay for it, yes.
