Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
So, it isn’t bad that a first level Trait can only be unlocked if you venture to an event 26 levels above yours?
Hm?
Which one might that be?

GW2 have actually never been written off. Sure people have shouted about the game dying, but that have never been factually correct. The game have been doing well since release.
Maybe.
I would assume that the WvW updates at the very least is for everyone.
Quite likely that the Guild Halls will be accessible as well (might be required for the leader or something to have the expansion in order to get the Hall in the first place).
You mean like Paragon in Nightfall..?
Aye, adding one spec per profession might actually be a rather smart idea. In order to see if the system works out well. It would be quite a waste to spend months making 2-3 specializations and then end up with it not really working well in the game at all.
Better to give it a try with one each and add more in the future if the system works out as planned.
If they release this with only one specialization per class if could seriously damage the expansion in the eyes of the players. We want, no, demand, the horizontal progression and build diversity this game was supposed to ship with in the first place.
I would prefer they take the time to add two more specializations to each class, even if that means delaying release.
I would say that the main addition to horizontal progression will be the Mastery system rather than the specialization system to be honest.

Is it not a bit early to complain about there being too little when the only thing we have heard is an announcement?
We have no idea what these new group challenges are.
We have no idea how many or how big the maps will be.
We have no idea how the Guild Hall system will work.
We have no idea about [insert anything announced] will work.
Wait until we actually have information before complaining about it being too little.
They are making a PvP mode that is almost identical to the original GvG in Guild Wars 1.
The fact that a tiny group of people in WvW have decided to call 20v20 clashes GvG is not really ArenaNets problem.
People have been asking for GW1 like GvG since release, and now they are getting it.
I won’t, be buying it at least for quite some time maybe next christmas. everything they have in there, is exactly what they promised us for free.
When did they promise us anything at all for free?
They have stated that the Mastery System is account-unlocked, so it should not create any issues for alts.
You can buy every single trait in the game at your profession trainer.

They also said that there will be no paid expansion
They have never said that.
There is no information (or even hints) that the Mursaat are (former) minions of any of the Elder Dragons.
Between now and launch of the Expansion.
We do know that there will be a playable demo at Pax East in 6 weeks, so it is rather likely that we will have much of the information by then.
It is clearly a bunch of Murseers!
There will be no new continent no.
It is also very unlikely that the new class would be locked to (what I assume) is lvl 80 areas.
Going to Cantha make a grand total of no sense whatsoever while we still have the Elder Dragons around.
Losing players, China release underperfoming, hence the need to make money quickly. Why do you think they went from “we don’t want an expansion, we can release everything through the Living World” to “here’s your expansion!!!”?
Do you really think they didn’t start with an expansion until after release in China?
They have NEVER said that they don’t want an expansion. They have said that they COULD release the same things as an expansion via the Living Story.
Of course it will……
So either you buy the expansion, or you won’t be able to join PUGs, you will lose in PvP, and you won’t won in WvW unless you have a considerably larger zerg than the other team.
That is of course only the case if the new profession is broken and thus much stronger than everyone else.

There you have the Colin part at least, which was the main thing.
That’s assuming Guild teams in Stronghold is restricted to 5v5. If they stay true to GW1’s GvG, it’ll be more than 5v5.
To be fair it was 8v8 and that is most likely because the game was balanced around 8v8, just like this game is balanced around 5v5.
Microsoft is offering win10 & DX12 as a free upgrade to win7 users so that point is moot.
Keep in mind however that not everyone might want/be able to to upgrade. Also keep in mind that not everyone is using Windows 7 or 8.1.
The game still works on XP and (I assume) Vista after all.
I would guess that the new WvW stuff will be available for everyone (seems unlikely that they would lock people out of WvW because they didn’t buy the expansion).
As for professions: That is how it works in all games.
In GW1 you could not play Assassin or Ritualist in PvP unless you have bought Factions, or Dervish and Paragon required Nightfall.
I really don’t see how that would be much of an issue, unless the class is extremely unbalanced.
Removing the hirelings available in the Stronghold map will basically make it an exact replica of the GvG mode in Guild Wars.
Guys. Stronghold is not our GvG replacement.
Stronghold, is stronghold. Just be happy for having it. It’s a new and probably fun spvp mode.
Perhaps we can get a GvG system later.
How can you be so sure?
Remove the hirelings and it will basically be an exact replica of GW1 GvG.
To be fair in GW1 you had way more than 8 people in most Guilds as well, and yet GvG only allowed 8 people at a time.
There have been no numbers announced. The only thing they have said is that there will be 3 biomes, which says a grand total of nothing at all about how many maps there will be.
People are aware that three BIOMES doesn’t have to mean three zones, right?
In fact it is very unlikely that it will only be one zone per Biome.

I will buy it.
Hopefully as soon as pre-purchase is possible, but that would depend on costs and availability of funds.
In order to get a refund you have to contact support.
I would however suggest not doing so yet, but instead trying more passwords.
Many passwords are blocked for use I believe, simply for being too easy. Try using a password that use uppercases, lowercases, numbers and special letters and see if that works better.
1) They have promised hard group content for the hard core player since the game was first conceived. They have yet to deliver on it nor seemed to truly attempt to deliver on it. Everything about their releases has been centered around the casual-average player area.
2) Edge of the Mists is not a WvW map. Edge of the Mists is, and has always been, something entirely separate from WvW.
I would love to see you take a group of casual-average players and finish the Triple Trouble Wurm or Tequatl.
Edge of the Mists was a map developed based on WvW-players suggestions, with the help of WvW-players beta-testing and released for the benefit of WvW.
You might not like it, but claiming that it is not a map for WvW is completely false.
You didn’t ask anything at all. You claimed something. It is a rather large difference.
It is also extremely unlikely that they would tell us stuff like this on the forums before they release the deep dive blogs in the near future.
and that’s why i’m upset
So you are upset that you didn’t magically know about it until they told us about it?
How does anyone ever know anything without being informed about it?
This was an announcement, not a “tell them every single line of the release notes”-thing.
1) I heard rather many mentions of new harder than ever group content during the stream, so I would assume they are adding what you are talking about.
The main issue is that the only real way to make something lasting is to require people to grind it over and over and over and over again in order to progress, something that goes against the whole philosophy behind GW2.
2) We had Edge of the Mists in February 2014, that is less than a year ago, not even close to two and a half years.
Clearly the pre-expansion levels are rather large based on the activity in-game, so I really don’t see how that is so much of an issue.
i feel like we are not kept very well in the loop of things sometimes
Huh?
Everything remains unknown until it is announced. We had no idea that they were making Guild Wars 2 until they announced that they were making Guild Wars 2.
I’m sure they got burned horribly because of those predictions, but that doesn’t make this prediction, that seemingly turned out true, false though.
I seem to recall them doing the same prediction for 2014, and clearly we didn’t have an expansion pack then either.
They are basically just guessing and sooner or later they might get it right.
my understanding is that game companies make money and want to make money, how come i have only heard about this expansion today?
Because it was announced today..?
Said 3rd party companies usually have insider sources on the matter though, and in the end of the day only care about their own investors and profits. They wouldn’t publish such predictions if they didn’t have some knowledge on the matter, because if they are wrong it costs them and their investors a huge amount of money.
You mean like the expansion that was released 2013?
3 BIOMES, not three zones.
My bad, I took note from the GW1 wiki: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Campaign
Guild Wars Factions (April 2006)
Guild Wars Nightfall (October 2006)
Which were also the only case of those 6 months thingy, while all other releases had basically a year between them.
But why would people refer to Guild Wars 1 when talking about GvG if they were not talking about the Guild Wars 1 GvG?
It is an advanced version of the GW1 GvG though, and I was under impression that it was that kind of GvG people wanted, seeing as they always shouted about how much it sucked that GW2 didn’t have GvG when GW1 did.
For GW1, yes that was the case, but GW2 has been updating the story for free since launch. ArenaNet even increased the speed of releases to keep a fast pace of content. I know I’ve been spoiled by this and I’m sure many others have been too.
But that is how stuff works in basically every business. You get part of a multipart story by buying the first part. In order to get the next part you have to buy said part.
Nope.
No level increase and no new gear tier.

Maybe?
I would assume that we will know all these things long before we can buy the expansion though.
If this is true then they just made it “pay us for this expansion or you can’t continue the LS”.
Isn’t that basically the case for every single expansion ever though? In order to continue the story you will have to buy the next part of the story.
Highly unlikely that there will be any LS patches due to the fact that HoT seems to start within seconds of Episode 8 ending.
We know that we have a patch on Tuesday.
Other than that no information, but I would guess that we might have some small stuff here and there with potential re-release of Dragonbash and SAB to keep us busy.
