Never seen anything like that. Did you check the email headers to see where it actually came from? If you have any doubt, try logging into your account and raising a ticket to ask NCSoft directly. Posting here isn’t likely to achieve a great deal.

I’m not so sure. They seem to have enormous pools of health and hit harder than ‘normal’ mobs. Took my lvl 70 ranger nearly 60 hits to take down an average minion in these instances. The mobs, on the other hand, take half her health with a single hit. Without the pets and the friendly npc’s tanking while I sit there mindless plinking away with the shortbow, this would be a real pain in the neck.
What’s your gear quality like? Level scaling is also affected by the quality of your equipment; for example, a level 10 character with level 10 gear upscaled to 80 will be on par with a level 80 character wearing level 80 gear, but a level 60 character wearing level 30 gear upscaled to 80 would find themselves with weaker stats than the level 10, because the game is assuming that your gear is level appropriate and scaling you appropriately.
Could be that. I had gear 10-15 levels below my characters level. I’ve upgraded it and we’ll see if it helps. TBH though, I’m finding the whole thing a little boring, it’s just the same old wave-after-wave-after-wave of the same mobs over and over. Where four waves would be more than enough, they give us 7 or 8. It’s quantity over quality. Nose to the grinding wheel stuff…

Personally I think they should do away with the ‘regular’ timers. Make it completely random. If you’re logged in when the things spawn. great. If not, tough. At the moment, it’s just ridiculous.
Look at the behemoth for instance, half the server sits in the swamp waiting for it to spawn as soon as the timer gets close, just hoping that someone else will actually go and do the pre-events.
If you decide to go and do those ‘pre-events’, by the time you get back to the swamp, the thing is already half dead. It only lasts about three minutes, if that. A ‘world event’ should be a challenge – there’s no challenge when 50 lvl 80’s are camped around it.

Also… ‘deposited’ items end up in a special tab in your shared bank vault. You can access that from a bank npc (usually in cities but some are dotted about the place) or at any crafting station. Items in your bank stack up to 250, once you reach that limit you can no longer ‘deposit’ them.
It’s also worth remembering that you can sell most junk on the trading post directly from your inventory wherever you happen to be in the game. Just right click on the item and look at the options.

In a game where the ‘challenge’ seems to revolve around giving bosses unreasonable amounts of health, I’d say a working auto-attack was essential for most builds…

That’s the way of the world these days, sadly. Doesn’t matter how many innocent people get caught in the crossfire, as long as you get one guilty one, everything’s fine.

Some things never change. They’ve been doing this ‘one-hours-notice-is-actually-three-minutes’ thing since release. Gets people every time but what can you do?
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Auto-targeting is hopeless. It usually favours scenery or the mob sitting minding its own business half a mile away over the one beating on your head.
Mouse clicking isn’t that great either, it’s hard to click on the mob you want and get it to stick while you’re also turning and trying to avoid accidentally right clicking on random things.
TAB targeting seems to be tied into auto-targeting in the way it randomly selects whatever it feels like.
The interface in GW2 is more of a challenge than most of the mobs.

Quick and easy for those who like WvW and fractals. Anyone else has a few weeks worth of grind on their hands.

I use my ranger to deal with these things, let the pet aggro it and spend half the fight on it’s back. Have to agree though, this sort of mechanic is more annoying then fun.

The instances are no more difficult than open world enemies.

I’m wondering if they have a specific resistance to projectile weapons…

Found one, from a level 5 bandit ages ago. Used it straight away.
I prefer midnight ice and I’ve found a couple of those too.
Most of my rare dyes I’ve had to buy from the TP. The prices have become silly in the last few months though, so I no longer bother buying them.

I use a Razer Naga with the last 6 buttons on the mouse mapped to the first 6 attacks. I use the mouse wheel click to jump. Don’t use the first 6 buttons at all since it’s impossible to reach them without putting my hand in some weird claw-like contortion. It’s a surprisingly small mouse so if you have particularly large hands it might be worth trying one out in a shop first.

Or, as mentioned, it just didn’t drop because you can only get the loot from each specific periscope once per day.
That’s probably it, since they’ve neglected to give us any indication that we’ve already destroyed any particular telescope…
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
I’ve twice had that annoying thing happen when you destroy a periscope and while you’re dealing with the mobs it spawned, someone runs in and loots the device leaving you with nothing. I thought that wasn’t the way GW2 was supposed to work…
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
“you will need to farm periscopes.”
Seems that you can only do these once a day, they’re like chests, the drop nothing until the daily reset. I think they’ve dropped the ball with this one. Probably the most annoying things I’ve seen in the game so far. Permanent knockdown does not equate to fun.
Ok, you can use stability but that typically lasts a tiny fraction of the time you spend trying to put the things down (unless you happen to be a high level character cruising around in a low level zone!) and that’s not taking into account the ludicrous mobs they can spawn.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
grr…having to enter this AGAIN because the forum logged me out and threw my message away!
Anyway…I came across one that had been abandoned earlier. I soon found out why nobody was bothering with it. The thing had spawned four mobs, one of which was shielding itself and the others. It made the periscope, itself and all the other mobs completely, and as far as I could see, permanently, impervious to any damage.
There is a difference between challenging and so ridiculously overpowered that people just leave things alone.

I went into the swamp in Queensdale today to fight the behemoth. All I could see was a sea of text jiggling around. Frankly, it looks ridiculous.
One dragon, voluminous text all over the place bouncing around and a load of players who don’t actually appear till the thing is dead.

I have about 80 gold or thereabouts in the bank. Never seen three figures.

I usually spend more time playing than browsing but today I’m here because the servers are in a mess. TP is down 50% of the time, there’s lots of lag and it’s been tough even logging in.

Still have issues on Desolation with the TP being unavailable every few minutes. Something’s struggling…

Got me again today, fighting the champion cave troll. Needed to turn to face it so one of my annoying LOS attacks was usable. Ended up right clicking on a completely innocuous grub sitting there minding its own business and ran straight into the wall. How this can be considered anything but a bug is beyond me. It’s the single most annoying thing I have EVER seen in any game.

Yep. We’re being flooded with useless information all over the screen and maps then people wonder why things sometimes get slow.

Still fun to play but the ongoing bugs…sheesh…

Engineers have suddenly become useful again. The way to play the dragon game now seem to be to stick a few turrets in the area and let them get on with it.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
All we need is some way to suppress all the garbage from the minimap. Is that so much to ask?
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
For things you buy off the TP, you need to visit a trading post npc to get your goods. They’re in various places on the maps, every main city has one.
Ask in map chat in the area you’re in. Someone will know where the npc is on your map.

Personally, I think it simply can’t cope with all the transactions going on and, rightfully, prioritises the actual buy/sell orders.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
I logged in earlier today, by the time the game let me see what was going on my character was already under attack so I started moving around and retaliating (as you do) until the moment that stupid overflow dialog popped up. Because it snatches away the mouse clicks, my character suddenly became impossible to turn. I had to stop, clear that dialog away then start again, by this time half my health had gone.
It’s really not a good idea for insignificant dialogs to take control away from the user like this. I don’t care that I’m in an overflow, I can see that by looking at (a) the minimap and (b) the sudden load of strange names and languages.

It’s pretty unreliable anyway. I’ve sold only a tiny fraction of that amount and it hardly ever shows the history.
Personally, I think that due to all the enforced small transactions, it’s too busy to process requests properly. if they allowed larger transactions instead of all those itty bitty things, it wouldn’t have to work so hard. That’s my theory anyway

Having to swap out gathering tools as you move around different level areas can lead to partial stacks of gathering tools in the inventory but, for some unknown reason, it’s impossible to stack them.
I ended up with two single digit stacks of copper logging axes for example and it’s a pain having to equip these, chop a few trees, then equip the next lot, chop a few more trees, then equip the next lot.
Not a major problem, admittedly, but a simple to resolve (I’d have thought) quality-of-life issue.

I thought the launch went really well. I’ve seen some disastrous launches, this wasn’t one of them by a long shot. There were some issues of course but the fact that I’ve completely forgotten what they were speaks volumes – I can still remember issues that other games have had at launch many years later.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Well, whatever the cause of the delay, it needs to be fixed. This is as close to a game breaking bug as I’ve ever seen. Almost all defeats in PvE can be attributed to the loss of target at a critical moment and it’s always due to the right-clicking nonsense.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
I play a lot in Queensdale on all my characters. It’s a nice easy place to get around, easy to learn your way around and has pretty much everything that you need, except for higher level crafting nodes and such things.
When you reach higher level areas you’ll find that they’re infested with Risen. You can’t get around without being pulled back, put to sleep, stunned, knocked back, knocked down, etc., ad-flamin-infinitum and it gets very old very fast.

Just wait for the thing to confirm your orders before placing the next one. I haven’t had this message for ages…

About time they changed the login error message though. That claim that it’s nearly always due to something at our end is wearing thin.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Same for me. Can’t log in. I’m getting the “something went wrong with YOUR system” message that has never been true in the entire life of this game so far.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Wow lunawisp. Did you miss the bit about drasticly improved drop rates in the last patch and bug fixing?
Well, I saw the announcement and I’ve seen people up in arms over it but I’ve seen little evidence personally. I get the occasional ‘rare’ item which is so rare that it sells for little more than vendor price on the TP.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Not me. I’ve never received anything like it and I’ve been playing since beta. Every half decent thing my characters have has been bought from the TP. Even nice looking dyes I’ve had to buy. Guess some people have much better luck than me.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
I undercut mainly b/c I dislike the tp. I will continue to do anything and everything I can to hinder those using it solely to gain wealth.
Wasting your time. Unless you know where people’s price targets are (and you’re just guessing by looking at the prices on the TP), most of the time you’ll just be pricing your goods at a level that allows the traders to pick them up even cheaper and ending up with less yourself.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
I discovered the cause of this on my Windows 7 machine. I sync to skydrive and gdrive and I had the icons for those permanently in the system tray. Every time one of them started to sync, it would take GW2 out of fullscreen mode and dump me back to the desktop. I had to remove them from the system tray, it’s a pain in the neck.

The one chest per character should be for all servers, not just the one you finished it on.
Apparently, it is…
I seem to be hearing otherwise on these forums. People have been saying that people are hopping from server to server to get the chests more than once. Is this not the case?
Well, that’s what I originally thought and it would certainly help explain the population explosions around event times, but posts I’ve seen (though admittedly not from staff) have said that they are one per character globally. I haven’t tried server hopping to test it personally.

If it’s global for each character, why are people crowding onto already busy servers? Something doesn’t make a lot of sense here. I could understand a few people trying to catch an event because they still have a couple of hours to go on their own server but the numbers crowding the events out are ridiculous. There needs to be a cap on the number of guests otherwise the game will be largely unplayable.
It’s not only the events themselves that are massive lag-fests. When the events are up, the whole place becomes laggy, you can feel it on the other side of the map.

Same as I feel when I see any risen. Bit of a “here we go again” moment as I look for a way around them.

Ah, I missed that one. Was wondering why risen had become more annoying again…not quite as much as they were originally but still ludicrously rapid pests with silly powers.
