No. 80’s fine.
LOTRO recently started having level cap increases, justified by large expansions. I just left. Couldn’t face doing it all again for another ten levels..then another ten…then another ten…

I’ve never run into this myself and I can be quite ‘chatty’ sometimes.
I don’t know how their filter works but have you tried varying your messages to a greater degree so it doesn’t think you’re spamming?

We still have problems with some npc’s becoming unresponsive for long periods of time when attacked by mobs.
Like Jaklan in the trading post in Queensdale. When the trading post gets attacked by centaurs, he ceases to be usable till (some arbitrary event occurs – probably a reset of some sort). He’s there in body but is completely useless. I’ve reported that one over and over.

I think the idea was to stop your level 80 making it impossible for the level 5’s to actually get any kills in their starter area…
Doesn’t quite work out but it’s a step in the right direction. Yes, it is infuriating when your fully kitted out super-powered level 80 gets stomped on by a rampaging chicken but by the time you reach lvl 80 you should have enough experience with your character to be able to cope with it…

I don’t suppose it crossed anyone’s mind since this game isn’t a representation of earth. If it was, there wouldn’t be Asuran, Charr or Nord races in it.

Don’t think they’re quite working as intended. I got a little chest after defeating a bunch of centaurs. The chest gave me a single hoof…that’s barely even vendor trash…

Seems to me that they scale for the number of players nearby rather than the number participating. I suppose that’s fair enough since the game can’t know if people standing around nearby are going to jump in. It’s worth bearing that in mind when taking on events solo.
Having said that, it doesn’t help that the scaling frequently bumps the levels of the mobs to two above the indicated event level. You really have to be aware of what’s happening around you.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Have to say it’s really annoying having to fight the interface as well as the mobs.
Judging by the lack of feedback, the devs don’t see this as an issue. One wonders if they really do play the game they created…

That’s far to easy to abuse. There are enough idiots out there to render a system like this unusable within minutes of its introduction.
There’s a game, that I won’t mention since it’ll only get the post deleted, that uses a system of chat banning based on the number of people that ‘ignore’ someone. Guilds have sprung up where people regularly use the ignore feature to mute anyone they don’t like. It’s also used by scammers who use it to mute people they’ve just scammed so they can’t ‘warn’ everybody else.
It was a system designed to cut spam without needing to use employees time to police it and it’s turned out to be a disaster.

To get the dodging thing done I usually just go to Queensdale and annoy a few bandits. Some of them start fires which you can dodge through quite easily. Dodging attacks from mobs seems a bit hit and miss…
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
I really dislike the dodging one as well and I’m getting really annoyed at having to do it EVERY FLAMIN DAY! They all seem to be random, except that one…for me anyway!
The timing has to be perfect. Things that you dodge successfully in a fight only count towards the dodge credit if you dodge just as the attack activates – something you don’t always need to do in game to actually avoid an attack.

It’s a shame that people are doing this. On the other hand, the only safe place to go afk in the ‘world’ is in a major city. If you go afk anywhere else, you’re taking a risk on your character dying in your absence.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Having to pick up loot is fine but we really need a different control to do it. Having the same keypress for virtually everything really is a bad idea. It just doesn’t work in practice. It’s frustrating having to circle around something to find the precise spot that will allow you to pick an item up rather than talk to an npc that happens to be standing on it or, even worse, accidentally walking off with someone’s banner mid fight.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
I won’t be choosing dodging…I can do it but it’s so annoying getting it done. They could reduce the number required by half and it would still be annoying…just not quite so much!

I still identify them, I like seeing something special appear. The problem is, I find so few dyes… Two or three a week if I’m lucky, so I’m not really missing out on much by not selling them unidentified…

Haven’t played a necro yet, but if a skill to sacrifice your minions to gain health or shield already isn’t one of his abilities, then it really needs to be.
Necromancers have no control over their minions. Once summoned they do exactly what they please. They attack what they feel like, go where they want (though they do tend to follow you around to some extent). It’s not a true pet class by any stretch of the imagination…

When you signed up to play the game, you agreed to certain rules. One of them was not using profanity. Live with it.
Of course one man’s profanity is another man’s perfectly normal conversation but I think most people know where the line is.

Bumping this one because it’s still exactly the same. I’ve never seen anything so ridiculous in my life. It’s simply impossible to kill the mobs in the camp before they’re replaced with fresh ones. What on earth is the point of this place?

I was quite surprised to read this. In general I’ve found the GW2 community pretty good. On Desolation at least, questions get an answer (if they make sense…and sometimes when they don’t) and people are generally polite and helpful. Of course there are exceptions, there always are, but that’s what the ‘block’ function is for.

Seems to be working again now but was down for some time. Some people reported being able to hit it but it wasn’t targetable. Maybe they were using AoE’s or something. Anyway, working but obviously something went wrong for a while.

Let the login fail. When you return to the launcher to try again take the tick out of the remember password box. That’ll clear the box. Put your new password in then put the ticks back in the boxes before pressing the login button.

People use AoE’s in GW2 becauase they’re attacked by half a dozen mobs at a time! What earthly use are single target powers when you’re knee deep in angry mobs?
Nerfed AoE’s will need a corresponding nerf to the ridiculous sizes of groups of mobs we’re expected to deal with.

It’s worth noting that the website allows passwords that are much longer than the client will accept. Around 60 characters seems to be ok according to Kibbles https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Password-length-Website-vs-Client-Login/1345451.
Someone dropped off seriously there…

Pop over to Queensdale. Scaver Plateau always has dead npc’s lying around. They also litter the path between Scaver and Claypool. The swamp also has lots of npc’s waiting to be revived. In my experience, this is one of the easier dailies to complete.

The dodging one is not as easy to get on a ranger, not because they don’t dodge (well, I do on mine) but because most of the incoming attacks are directed at your pet…

When I tried rezzing an npc and got no reward there was a seraph npc rezzing that second one as well and I got in a little late. Maybe there’s a certain amount of health you need to restore on a character as well. Who knows…

I’m in the UK. I have four laurels. Completed the thing about ten minutes before midnight on the patch day (UK time), including the dreaded combo thing.
It’s a shame that not everyone was able to do it but at the end of the day it’s only one laurel…hardly the end of the world.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
I imagine people don’t want to do it because:
1) It’s a one-shot fest where so many people die instantly and repeatedly that it gets irritating.
2) There is zero reward (apart from the exp) for doing it.

It’s worth remembering that the TP is not server specific. There are a LOT of people out there using it.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
I decided to try this out with my lvl 80 necromancer kitted out with exotic gear. Took it to Queensdale, hit a lvl 8 bandit with Putrid Curse (autoattack power) and did a whole 10 damage each time.
I tried it again with my lvl 38 necro, same bandits, same power, regularly hits for 41.
Downscaling certainly seems to hit higher level characters hard.

Seems that, at present, we get a random selection of targets each day. We don’t all get the same ones.
Not had any problems with crafting myself. Did refining of low level components for articifer and weaponsmithing.

I’m amazed that it’s taken so long to address this issue. It’s the closest thing to a game breaker I’ve seen in GW2 so far.

Will be even worse now that people need to rez a number of others each day for the dailies…

Must admit I didn’t like that combo-killer and it seems someone on ANet’s staff agrees with me since they’re looking at it again. As for the rest, they really are very easy and quick to do.
The one I’m a bit bemused by is the complaints about dodging. How can anyone even play the game without dodging? Unless they’re faceplanting every five minutes…

First thing I’ll do is see what happened to the personal story mission I was on when I got booted…second thing is probably find out I have to do it all again then I’ll swear at the server for dumping me for a restart 40 minutes earlier than their system message said.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Was halfway through a long personal story mission when the warning came up. 55 minutes it said. Fine, I thought, that’s plenty of time. Ten minutes later I got booted for the restart. About 20 seconds or so from the end of the mission!
If your server says we have 55 minutes, then please give us 55 minutes.
At the very least, please make sure the time quoted is accurate.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
ARRRGGGHHHH!!!
I was doing the battle For Claw Island. Over halfway through, it came up on the screen and said 55 minutes to restart. OK, I thought. Plenty of time so I carried on. About ten minutes later, about 30 seconds from the end of the quest I got booted for a restart.
Top tip Anet: Don’t tell people they have 55 minutes then cut them off after ten. It’s bloody annoying!
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Some of this ‘leaving before the end’ is people who know there is no more fighting to be done so they just leave at that point while an escort event/quest plays itself out for the next 20 seconds. Bit like the one where you escort a caravan to Claypool in Queensdale. Once the last batch of three centaur ambushes is over there’s no point sticking around. As long as you stay in that zone you’ll get the reward. Following the bull into town just wastes time.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Even some vistas are a pain to reach. Especially on cliffs or around trees where the camera swings around and ends up inside something leaving you with no view at all until you zoom in or out to compensate. It’s more of a nuisance than anything else on ‘normal’ or small characters. I’ve never made a charr but jumping can be such a pain with a norn.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
why are people worried about nerfs?
I’ve been playing MMO’s for quite a while now (some might say too long) and in all that time I can honestly say that I have never seen a nerf take place that actually improved the fun aspect of the game for the players. They may make the devs stats look better but that’s not why most of us play the game…
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Well, if AoE’s get nerfed, I hope they come up with some way to avoid being overrun by groups of mobs every time you stick your nose out of town. Without decent AoE’s the PvE aspect of the game is likely to become pretty boring pretty quickly.
I can see it now, running around in circles for ten minutes plinking away at a group of mobs with a feather duster.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Well, I can’t speak for others of course but for me the supply of dyes has plummeted again. I’ve found precisely three in the last week or so. If others have perceived a drop in supply that would help explain a rising price.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
I think you’re assuming too much here Anet. Few people are going to be willing to pay the inevitable repair bill for the reward on offer.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Why are people scared? I can solo all these with my Thief and a Short Bow. If you play smart, learn to dodge, and use hit and run tactics when your HP is low, you can win too!
Oh yes? Half a dozen of these pop up. You have half a dozen dodges do you? Those golems stun over and over and over and over. Even if you have a means of overcoming a stun (which a lot of us don’t at low levels), it’s on a fortnights cooldown – or might as well be considering the way they hit you over and over with it.
