I think most people would agree that pushing several hundred people with lvl 80’s (and people are going to use their highest level characters to get things done as fast as possible) into starter zones to do events that are in direct competition with people trying to level, is a bad idea. Especially since some of those levelling characters are likely to belong to new players. They get a fantastic welcome to GW2.
Instead of having requirements like “4 events in Queensdale”, maybe they could be “4 events in Kryta”. That would help spread people out a bit. On day one of this system, Queensdale was a joke, frankly. Even lvl 80s had trouble completing events that required getting credit for killing a mob. It was swamped with zerg groups of lvl 80’s, each one competing to be the one that got to one-shot a mob.

Another problem, of course, is that a huge number of cached links in search engines are now broken. I’ve had some major issues loading maps today and was looking online for answers, nearly every link was broken…that’s not good…really.

Waypoints are constantly contested in Orr because hardly anybody goes there to clear them. And people don’t go there because waypoints are always contested AND it’s such a ridiculously annoying place to be even after the mob density and CC was toned down – it used to be even worse than it is now.
Sadly, at the moment, GW2 challenge seems to consist of mostly excessive crowd control…the worse possible way of challenging players in my opinion. Losing control of your character is not fun. It’s just frustrating and annoying, for me anyway.

Decide if your need for the magic find and/or crafting materials gained is greater than your need for the silver/copper you’ll get for it on the TP or from a merchant.
That’s a decision you’ll have to make for yourself.

It’s a pain but it’s still better than another game (which I won’t mention) in which they’ve pretty well done away with moderators by slapping 24 hour chat bans on anyone who’s ‘ignored’ by a certain number of players. Guilds of what most of us would call idiots then use that to their advantage by ignoring en-masse anybody any of their members takes a dislike to.
Guess what I’m trying to say is, however bad we think we have it, there’s always someone who has it worse!

Personally I’d stay on the safe side and use external means of communication, there are plenty of them around.
What absolutely amazes me is that a game with ‘guild’ in its title has so few tools for guilds to communicate with their members. All there is, apart from the normal guild chat, is a mail system that temporarily bans you if you try to use it!

I’ve seen forum posts from people claiming to have reached over 300%. I haven’t even got 100% yet, still at 98%. I’m not planning on pushing it very far over 100%, it’s just too time consuming/expensive.

I’m in the same boat. Been playing since launch (slightly before that if you include the open beta!) and I’m averaging an exotic every two or three weeks. Never seen a precursor or anything like that. I get a handful of greens, a few blues and a rare from world bosses.
Apart from one exotic staff and an exotic broadsword I’ve had to buy everything my characters use. The rest I’ve found have been useless to me, just relatively common and cheap fodder for the trading post.
Just the way the cookie crumbles I suppose – bit annoying though lol

Pretty much the same for me. I was in my personal story, got stuck in an endless loop for a few minutes before I got fed up and logged out. When I logged back in, I’m no longer in a guild, chat isn’t working and there’s about as much lag as I’ve ever seen in a game.

I’d sleep on that decision to delete lvl 80’s. Leave it for a few days, maybe even weeks before doing it. Chances are you’ll regret it later. I regret deleting a lvl 35 mesmer, was never able to get back into them again and never got another above about lvl 15 or so.
My favourite lvl 80 is a necromancer but I hop onto ranger, thief and engineer occasionally, depending on how I feel at the time – it’s nice to have that option.

Nice going! I haven’t even reached 100% yet…
Since you’re there now, quick question for you: For us mortals, does 300%+ actually make enough difference to make it worth striving for?

Don’t think this is anywhere as easy as some people are suggesting. Even with 8 stacks of the buff, I tried to run towards the thing then got knocked back a hell of a long way with virtually no health left. Either it all gets stripped off you with one hit or something is broken.
As for the waypoint and run back, that’s not so easy in the labyrinth where running back can take ages due to the incessant and massively overdone (isn’t that unusual for GW2) crowd control given to the mobs…
And…circles on the ground are so unreliable anyway…look at the centaur catapults in scaver plateau. You sometimes get a red circle and have time to dodge out of it, usually you get about a quarter of a second between the circle appearing and being hit, sometimes there’s no circle at all…you just find yourself flying through the air.
Whether it’s due to lag or other problems I don’t know, but at the moment I don’t think one-shot mechanics work. They’re not telegraphed reliably enough and the ways to mitigate the damage just seem too flakey.

10k is a lot better than 100k but still a bit ridiculous. I’ve found 2 in the last two days.
That’s two, not two thousand btw!

Last year, when there was little use for candy corn, everyone had a dozen stacks in a few days. This year, we have astronomical requirements for the stuff and they’re reduced the rate at which you can get it by a massive degree. I imagine that few will bother to even try.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
I had this all the time last year. Never managed to even get it started, always failed as soon as the cutscene ended. I’m not even going to bother with it this year.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
You have to type it out exactly as it’s displayed, which means you have to include the quantity in the bit you type if they’re in a stack. It’s ridiculous beyond belief.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Little but candy corn and a few random greens for me. Today, I went in there for the ‘kill 50 bits of animated sugar’ daily then left.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Thanks, I’ll try to remember that next time. With all the effects flying around, I didn’t even notice the candy pools.

I have no interest in PvP, I don’t like it, have no intention of doing it. Therefore I don’t need PvP items so I delete them when they start clogging up my inventory.
Problem is that every time I want to delete one of these things, I have to type in the sometimes ridiculously long winded name of the item to confirm the deletion. This isn’t necessary for anything else. What’s the purpose of this annoyance?
Can we have a ‘stop harassing me with pointless confrmations’ option?

My husband and I just were in the Labyrinth and helped to kill the Viscount twice and neither of us got the achievement for it. The other bosses went just fine.
Same for me. Taken the Viscount down twice so far, once yesterday (on overflow) and once again today (on home server), got the chest etc. but no achievement.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Also lunawisp you can turn 4 stacks of candy corn into 1 cob (and the bag is 15 cobs) like ziataffy and jawbreakers, so the inventory space isn’t as bad as you think.

Yep, thanks. I saw that after I made the post. That’s why I deleted it – but not fast enough it seems

I have a couple of ideas how to make this event more annoying, anet hire me plz
They beat you to it, they gave torment to some mobs in the labyrinth. I wondered why my health was dropping like a stone without even seeing a mob. The thing was round the corner fighting someone else.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
I didn’t even get close to doing this last year. Failed every time for me as soon as the cutscene ended. Hope they fixed that!

I haven’t come across any candy nodes out in the ‘world’. There are pumpkins lying around though…
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Lots of corn lying around in nodes to be harvested in the labyrinth and the mobs there drop the stuff too. On the other hand, the bosses hit FAR too hard, they regularly one shot everyone around them but a few warriors and guardians. Some of the mobs also have torment (!)

Same for me. shows the guilds I’m in but all the guild windows are blank.
Interestingly, there was no chat at all in the hour I spent online this morning and that just can’t be right…we all know that MMO players are a chatty bunch, even if it’s just complaining about champ trains.
Something’s definitely broken.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
As I see it, you have two options. Either just play the game as you are and watch what happens when you use certain powers and read up on things on the internet, or get yourself into a guild that has players willing to take the time to explain what’s going on.

I find that I use a drake and bear most of the time. Very rarely switch to anything else. The bears tank well and the drake has a high damage (relatively speaking) tail whip – and the drakes do look impressive waddling about in town!

All you can do with it now is keep it for your next ranger or sell it on the TP (or destroy it). That’s why there are manuals on the TP … people buy them in error. You’re not the first to do it and you definitely won’t be the last :p

I don’t have world completion on any of my 80’s. I don’t have the patience to run around looking for things that aren’t even indicated on the map and are at the end of silly jumping puzzles.

Annoys me too. It always seems to switch to friendly targets which is no flamin’ use at all. We also really really need a better mouse cursor. The current one just vanishes amongst all the fireworks. I’ve said it before, and it’s sadly still true, the UI is frequently more of a challenge than the mobs.

The first cry of the amateur who loses money on any type of market is: “Someone must be cheating.”
There’s risk on any trading market of this type. There are too many people involved for anybody to know exactly what’s going to happen next. We can all make guesses, some may even be educated. One thing for sure though is that the majority will get burned so that the minority, who have spent enough time and effort to understand and control their risk, can profit.
If you can’t cope with the risk, don’t try to play.

what are these “precursors” you speak of?
I have heard tales spoken of these “precursors”, but since the long ago beta times, have seen no proof of their existence other then vague rumors and whispers spoken on the wind.
I can relate to that. I’ve been playing since launch and have never come across one of these mythical beasts.

how do you tell the difference between people doing it on purpose and people doing it on accident? anyone can claim innocence.
You don’t. It’s like in the real world “Ignorance of the law is no defence.”
Why would anyone be typing ‘strange’ things in chat if not to try to cause problems? If it’s not ‘normal’ chat, it doesn’t belong there.

Did you hide the chat? If you click on the chat icon, it ‘dims’ the window and hides any old text in it. It’s a toggle so just try clicking it to see if it makes any difference.

Just like in the real world, in order to gain resources your income has to exceed your outgoings. I’ve always had problems accumulating gold because I’m a sucker for expensive dyes but so rarely seem to find them myself and, though I’ve been playing since launch, I’ve never found a precursor or anything that could net me any large sums.

Difficult to tell to be honest. I’ve never really had any major issues apart from the lag fest at the world events but that’s to be expected with the number of players there.

I couldn’t agree more. Auto-targetting is…um…strange. It’ll often target objects over the mob standing a foot away beating you about the head. I don’t understand it at all.
if it wasn’t for the fact that I lose my target so often in GW2 (why?), I wouldn’t use auto-targetting at all.
