gvg doesnt even exist in this game
Arah and some fractals are honestly the best designed instances in the game – so no I’d hardly call it poor design at all, just that people have learned how to beat fights solo.
Well the only one saying it should be is you.
I think that if a player is capable enough they should be able to solo, just how you can solo instances in WoW or BAMs in Tera.
It’s not an exploit just because you don’t believe people should be able to solo.
i hope my half- kitten d sort-of commentating is keeping things a little interesting ;p
Yes, it is allowed.
it’s no warrior, no fgs, no ranging, no kick, no grub, no swipe, no bubble and we’re getting pugs to solo lupicus.
everyone watch gogo
You’re honestly over thinking things. Thieves honestly just stick on three passive signets that they never activate, elite of their choice and then utility skill of their choice for the last slot which might be haste or smoke screen. But beyond that it’s just repeating a rotation over and over again.
The thing with say, a warrior is that the thinking is more centred around weapon choice than utility choice and you then have to think through how you would deal with an encounter’s mechanics with your weapons rather than through utilities (you can mostly just run standard dps utilities). For guardians, switching utilities around is crucial and if a guardian doesn’t they literally might as well not even be in the group. They’re also extremely squishy so it’s not like you can brute force fights.
it’s funny, talking necro’s down while never showing any prove they suck, i have never had any problems with my necro and even outdamage the thief and mesmer at some points.
no support?……what do you do, spam 11111 all the time?
they have one of the best support in the game, L2P before talking a prof down.
no DPS?….yah sure, dagger necro is more powerful then dagger thief but sure, no DPS…..and yes, i do know how to play a necro, i have yet to see anyone to prove me wrong in PvE.
and no, i am not talking about zerging, that’s a really lame excuse to compare professions.sooo, are you saying your necro is great in dungeons?
-GMB
well yes, not solo and i don’t rush but i have kept teams alive where guardians failed…..true story…..
I’m afraid I’m gonna need more info on that. Just what exactly is it that you do?
Incoming new meta guys, brace yourselves.
-Grandmaster Mind Brain.
And that’s not even getting into how sorely lacking you are in comprehending networking. It’s no different than traveling cross-country. Two people at drastically different locations do not take the same route even if they’re traveling to the same destination. It’s the same situation YOU have with GW2, except you’re either seeing high traffic (a DDoS attempt), or slowed traffic due to a crash (repairs or other actions). Neither of which are Anet’s problem, purview, or responsibility.
I’m a CCIE just FYI and this is getting more hilarious by the minute. Stop.
Now, pls, my conneciton nids fix anet pls.

pls, I nid the connection pls arena net. This was a frend from a while ago but still today skill is bad, pls halp fix.
-GMB
Why are you asking Anet to fix something that’s so out of their control it’s plainly obvious? Even if it was the vast majority of players experiencing this lag, 9/10 times it’s not Anet’s problem. Why? Because it’s an issue taking place with the infrastructure of the internet itself. Maybe there’s repair going on between you and Anet? Maybe it’s been damaged somehow and repair is pending? Maybe it’s some twit-headed script kiddy with a bunch of panties in a knot over a perceived insult DDoSing that particular branch? Anet neither knows nor cares.
I’m gonna quote this before you delete it because I don’t think you understand.
You see, anet nids to fix thes connection, skill lag is bad an i ned halp with et.

the problem is that PvE is not balanced, not warrior.
PvE is plenty balanced besides a few outliers.
Lulz balance in pve.. Anything is fine there.
There are still balancing issues, so if you could be ever so slightly more constructive than making weak condescending remarks towards a game mode you most likely aren’t interested in.
—
The only time you could ever argue warrior is overpowered in PvE is for solo, but the game is balanced around group content so that literally doesn’t even matter.

I know many people who are just fading away.
They’re going to Archage, Wildstar and even back to Wow. I myself would leave if I found any of those games worth my while but I don’t so I’m just sitting around on GW2 and waiting for something to happen. Lots of potential in this game, it’s a pity.

you run the reroll build
If five offensively built players is calculated to be higher DPS than four offensive and one guy stacking boon power, we’ll still use five offensive builds.
What then?
I cant help it.
Perspective. Im sure the unintelligent and toxic pve pug community feels welcome. Especially since Im part of it.I actually just read your post fully. Had to skim doing charts.
Stupid experiences? Post em.
Wrong? I sure as heck wont call anyone out on anything thats wrong again. Ive learned my lesson.
Oddly enough this feels almost exactly like when I tell a person ingame a strat and they start berating me about how im ruining their game and that they will phtw.Even more oddly enough. If the person you wrote the ele thing to was a forumer and posted your convo in that other thread people would have been lolling.
So we spend months trying to repair our reputation and you come along and literally scare people off.
GG
I feel GW2 group play involved boons, condition & control but I don’t think it provides the depth players are looking for in group interaction.
Let’s not even use the word depth because people misuse it to try and add credibility to their own arguments, and it’s overused to the point that it has no meaning, it’s on par with “epic”, “toxic” and “elitist” they’re buzz words that mean nothing.
Here’s the reality – people against the GW2 combat system normally want players to have to be interdependent.
There is enough depth in the GW2 combat, and we can’t even get a combo field priority system because ANet think it would confuse people – so more “depth” is not an option when people can’t even comprehend the current system.
The short range on most group boon skills make then ineffective at the range.
And this encourages you to work together and stick close. This is not a problem, this is promoting teamwork.
Conditions have the condition cap problem
The problem with conditions is they don’t scale with vulnerability or damage modifiers and can’t be bursted at the start of a fight.
control says hello Defiance, Unshakable & Unstoppable.
The question comes about how do you provide this deep group interaction but then not have forced roles. Would I like non offensive play styles in high level PvE play yes. We find the in sPvP & WvW but not in PvE but at this stage I’m not sure how
Well you’re not getting defensive play styles being optimal in high-end PvE, the whole point of high-end, like I literally just said is that you sacrifice any excess defense. In GW2 this means all, in Dragon Age: Origins it means stacking squishy mages and dumping everything with fireballs and storm of the century.
maybe i need to find our 4 warrior 1 guardian dungeon tour where we threw the spider queen in the trash can
spoiler – we had 0 fiery greatswords
No, defensive gear should never be valued at the high end.
The whole point of high end gameplay is that you drive to be as efficient as possible and give up as many “training wheels” (defensive gear) as possible. You shouldn’t have to be forced to keep these wheels on just because the game locks you in to it.
ANet made it fully clear that this game would have a new trinity of damage, support and control, and each class would be capable of doing each – therefore people need to get in to the mindset that they should be contributing their share of that, not that they should only be contributing one certain thing (e.g. giving up all damage in favour of “support”, or giving up all “support” in favour of control, etc.).
But of course two years down the line people are still thinking from narrow unholy trinity viewpoints and want to basically throw that in to GW2.
No thank you, I appreciate the freedom this game gives me – you can play exactly how you want. You can literally use the most moronic, stupidest build going and clear content. I can run the most offensive build going and clear content. Anyone can do anything – and that freedom is what makes this game great. If you’re upset you can’t take your “support” build in to high level groups, well just accept that you’re not able to play at a high level in this game until you can get over that.
kitten , i mean block.
and no, she does not shoot instantly. literally just do the fractal and you’ll see she points at you for like a good two seconds.
She aims her pistol at the player furthest from her. You have a good amount of time to dodge this, if you don’t see it it’s literally just you not paying attention.
RESTART
THE
DERNGHERN
But swapping weapons is an exploit and clearly unintended by ANet.
We must fix this immediately.
Here’s the problem – you’re trying to claim something is unintended despite having no proof to support that.
To offer you an example – Alphard in Arah path 2 has a pull attack which, well, pulls you in and she sets off a bomb which detonates in a few seconds which one-shots squishies. One day, ANet made a patch and what happened instead is that the bomb AOE basically pulsed once a second before even detonating, and then you had the bomb detonation damage on top of that. Later on, there was another patch, and she was reverted to her previous functionality. Therefore, the pulsing bomb damage wasn’t intended as they removed it.
In the case of weapon switching, it has always been available out of combat no matter what you’re doing and there’s no precedence showing that this is unintended in any way – for example if as a warrior you cast your warhorn 4 you don’t get put in to combat or locked out of weapon switching while casting the skill and unable to switch weapons, you can cast warhorn 4 and then switch it out for a shield or mace or whatever.
The TL;DR is, you don’t like it therefore you brand it an exploit despite there being no evidence to support that.
It’s not an exploit at all.
It’s literally just clever micromanagement.
Just because you dislike the idea of it does not make it an exploit, just how my dislike of fiery greatsword does not make it an exploit to use the rush skill untargeted.
Level 2 sounds really exploity to me. This is most likely a design oversight.
BTW, I always forget to check one thing… If I equip two MH swords, do I still get the same cooldown on skills for both after I swap sets?
Switching weapons is exploiting.
Now I’ve heard it all.
I wonder how this will affect upcoming KING tournament.
Get mai. Re-roll.
Ohh no, gw2 content got harder? Don’t worry, it must be bug.
I’m pretty sure an encounter going from well balanced to one-shotting squishies and two-shotting high HP classes is a bug.
Why didnt you believe alphard change was a bug then? x)
What?
I knew it was a bug all along, I just felt it was a good bug and wanted it to stay.

I may not enjoy flame wars with people who are just trying to make decent builds, however when it comes to some people there’s another kind of posting I enjoy which so far is proving quite successful. Luring those people out of the woodwork is usually the main objective from the start. If you think hard enough on it, you may understand.P
Ah, so from the start you simply mocked the OP in order to draw me out of the woods, in order to have more people to pick on? Well, since you think it’s fine to insult and humiliate people, I guess I have nothing more to tell you.
Regards.
PS: great job done in removing / editing your posts. People reading only the end result could possibly end up with a different opinion of you that the one I currently hold (a more positive one).
Thanks man I do my best.

Hi,
Posts removed because I don’t farm infractions, but glad you read them.
Ah, I’m pretty sure you’re glad I know you’ve insulted me – that’s the very point of the insult, after all. As for me, I’m fine having you know that as well, because I take argumentum ad personam exactly for what it is.
There’s an easier way to avoid infractions: demonstrate courtesy and respect to other fellow players in the first place, rather than mocking them / insulting them. Since you don’t seem to enjoy flame wars, as per your own words, I suspect that this would be less boring and draining. Especially if, in the end, you’re actually ready to help.
@Miku: these forums could do with some improvements, for sure. I’d love a blocking feature, for instance: I’d go into Maha’s killfile, he and his two comrades would go into mine, and no one would have to deploy enormous amounts of patience dealing with people of different moral opinions.
Regards.

As I’ve been told before, “pick and choose your battles.” :P
There are the words of a wise man :3

Am I losing it, or is there really not even any build posted? This is all I see lol
The OP has removed two posts after reading some of the most disheartening responses (among which the original one). Maha has removed two posts, one mocking the OP, one mocking me. The thread was originally well-intended, with a very positive initial post, but has been defiled faster than usual.
Posts removed because I don’t farm infractions, but glad you read them.
Sometimes it’s best to just agree with the person and tell them what they wanna hear because dealing with 10 pages worth of arguments with the next nemesis is draining and boring.
@OP, glad you’re in the crowd of people who are happy to change their minds given new information, people that do that are exceptionally rare and I find it admirable. If you need more information on how to build your warrior for PvE I can give you some links and etc.

PvE is not an esport
And yet we had a tournament a few days ago.
I’d like to start by saying thank you to the various guilds for the effort involved in organising the event and for participating. Additionally there is no denying the skill displayed, in reflexes, game knowledge and muscle memory.
Having said that, the number of viewers wasn’t spectacular. Placing the viewer counts, forum commentators and Anet financial reports side by side I draw two conclusions.
A) Proportionally, the forums are more vocal about competitive pve than the wider player base.
B) The amount of players interested in competitive pve is very small compared to the overall player base. If this were false, either the pve tournament viewer counts would be higher or the Anet financial reports would paint a much different and darker picture.Once again I want to make it clear that I’m not trying to talk down what you achieved or how you play the game, just that I can understand why this scene isn’t Anet’s top priority.
We didn’t even bribe people with finishers and precursors and were able to get 1,500 viewers.
Just skim read, but if this is for zerker guardian in dungeons then try this guide OP:
http://www.dtguilds.com/forum/m/6563292/viewthread/12501056-dnt-guardian-build-5914
It has a few variations that you can go with along with detailed discussion on how to play the build so you won’t be eating the dirt.

My advice.
Wear whichever armour you want.
There is only a tiny part of the community who actually care about which armour the other guy is wearing in PvE.
The other people in the dungeon might start to care when the run takes twice as long.
-Grandmaster Mind Brain.
The DnT guys are just jealous they don’t come up with rad build names like BLOOD CHOPPER!!
You got me!
-GMB
It can be a rather boring build, but when I think about it, there’s some things that make it less boring.
Before fights you can swap to a Longbow (use signet of fury to give adrenaline) to place fire [F1] field and blast, then use Warhorn to blast for might + drop a banner in there for another blast, then put your GS back on.
Your other set could be Sword/Warhorn for quick and easy skips, or it could be axe/mace for the CC from mace knock when required which can be useful in some areas and for removing defiant on bosses. You can also use mainhand axe + offhand sword as your other set for more engaging content such as lupicus in arah where the sword offhand will give you a channeled block. Although of coarse you don’t want to be sitting on axe for any longer than you have to when running the pure GS build.

(edited by maha.7902)
At least help me improve the build.
It’s gonna be painful but if you’re after the ‘perfect’ build for PvE, it’s not going to be utilizing condition damage or ‘tanking’.
Long story short, ‘tanking’ is not a thing, especially given you have a dodge key that works against most attacks in PvE and conditions are not going to be optimal damage.

inb4 zerk gear, zerk jewels, zerk weapon, zerk build or be called a phiw
inb4 posts, and being unconstructive is against the rules on the forum.
How many many maaaany times have you posted the very same way? at least I named what he was going to be advised on. Don’t be such a double standard. You do the same things on the forums and its not un-constructive. I’m actually saying, use zerk or you will be called PHIW. I’m I lying?
My or anyone else’s posting history have nothing to do with this thread – the point is, you’re being unconstructive and provoking emotional responses by making comments which you know full well will annoy people.

forum legend
so that’s what we’re considered
:D
happens very rarely, normally if hes on an elevation
Except, standard, modern, legacy and vintage are all balanced around the high-end, not casuals. The only format balanced around casuals is EDH, which is a casual format.
So I don’t see where you’re even going with this.
no changes to lupicus besides him doing the shadowstep but just go invisible then troll you by secretly doing another attack thing if people (yissa) are ranging
so for solos, completely identical
for melee, identical
for pugs ranging everywhere… he’ll probably just actually shadowstep
yes
Well if someone’s gotta go down, it might as well be the warrior in knights/valk doing no damage.
right, because hitting 11k is no damage…
You being dead on the floor and me soloing phase 3 of Lupicus was no damage.
IIRC, in Gears of War 3 tournaments you were limited to one female character per team because they had a smaller hitbox, smaller animations I’d consider a pretty similar advantage so I’d think a restriction or ban on asura would be reasonable.
