I think all sides are suffering, because ehh you know it’s the Holidays that most of us in Europe do celebrate in one form or another. (Think it’s called Christmas)

But still: Holidays are not helping really. And I know I will miss the next reset as well (which feels really weird after 3 months of playing the Friday night reset).

I don’t think buffs are the only consideration.

Here’s a link to maloki’s thread which was moved to the Suggestions subforum.

I’d be more inclined to go with auto-unclaiming an installation when no members from the guild have been representing in the zone for a period of time (perhaps 12 hours) and there are no buffs.

Why? Because it’s possible for a guild to be doing a great job defending an installation without buffs and they shouldn’t be ousted by another guild if they’re putting the effort in. Our guild held a BL tower for over 50 hours in the last match, starting with buffs, but then maintaining siege and a constant presence. If another guild could just claim over all our upgrades, siege and time while we were still active I’d be pretty miffed.

Focussing on buffs though, there are some issues to work through.

• What would be the order of precedence of buffs? Is +40 Toughness superior to +40 Vitality?
• What about the usurped guild’s buffs? They’re now available but unused, they’ve wasted their influence and build times.

I’ll leave it there as this is not meant to be a post against the idea, I think some mechanics could be improved here.

One things that would really help is to include a method for a guild to unclaim other than by them claiming another structure. A simple: “we unclaim” option would be great.

Perhaps a combination of the two ideas may be a solution, ie. no buffs and no guild representation. A guild that wants to claim an already claimed installation could request unclaiming. If the guild currently ‘in residence’ does not respond within a given timeframe (15 or 30 minutes?) the re-claiming is allowed.

I was thinking the simplest way: 1 buff is more than 0. 2 buffs are more than 1, and so forth. Not actually caring about WHICH buffs there are.
Or just the simples: Anything that’s 1 or more, is more than 0.

Those pesky, but lovely, guardian team (with at least a elementalist as well) kept pestering us tho. In all fun and games manners I relogged my necro instead of getting xp on alt!

I was the elementalist, and I got most of the DPS to take siege down fast enough, but do need someone to back me up. Wasn’t exactly a fair fight though, given you outnumbered us with more than 10 extra than us. I had enough with inner bay siege, after one necro on your team decided to glitch underneath the terrain and attack me from below, killed him with aoe through terrain as payback.

I really hope you know that no glitches are intentional :P

After having had a WvW discussion meeting on FS last Friday I can gie you a bit more info:
AoA might have been a 400 member guild, but they did not pull that many people into WvW. Most of their members were PvE. They moved to Seafarer’s Rest on Monday.

BloS is about 250 member strong, and have a good WvW presence as well.

DW are at about 200 members now, and have increased their activity in WvW greatly the past 2 weeks. Mainly because of heavy recruiting. We have however not pulled together a “Guild only” event yet to test our strength.

FS going ahead in points right now is not a worry, we will not go up a tier, and Drakkar will not drop a tier. We will stay with the same matchup for next week! (The rating says so, and something drastically needs to change for that to happen, but I doubt it will)

Right because reporting does so much lol…anet probably has 1 person working 1 day a week on reports…

anet patches bugs in their events within 24hours but exploits that ruin wvw take forever…

Reporting it will give more accurate information to the team dealing with it than writing a post on the forum will, so yes.

The thing is, I just moved from Far Shiverpeaks, since WvW on FSP has been a disappointment week after week. And although there’s people trying really hard, it seems like the majority of the server doesn’t care about WvW.

Also, I’m really looking for a guild with a big amount of members doing sPvP daily, without having to wait until the guild’s PvP team is online or until the guild has it’s PvP event. Since that’s part of the reason why I left my last guild.

I really do appreciate the offer, but I think I’ll have to look for something a bit more sPvP focused.

I want to give you a reply to this: Far Shiverpeaks has finally found it’s tier. We have dropped far enough to stabilize. Even with the holiday events going on!
The organization we’re doing right now is going to make a difference.

We do not only “host an event” a week for sPvP, even if we also have an event. As a guild we run an open door policy on everything, and we have a lot of players that spend a lot of their time in sPvP.

I will leave the door open for you to reconsider.

Um, the solution has 24 hour W3 coverage for everyone. How do you see a lockout?

If the timezone didn’t cover the majority of your playtime I assume your guild would relocate to the servers that suit your playtime most.

So we who are nightowls should get locked out of our game because… of what? That people with “normal” lives should not have to cry about the game moving on without them while they sleep?
I am sorry, I’ve always been a very night active person, if ANet would lock me out of WvW at night I would probably cry AND leave the game and never buy anything from ANet again. Not that they care I’d only be one person, right?

I have never payed for a golem and I am pretty sure I’ve dropped 20-40 of them.

Looting them is not uncommon, getting 3 or so from jumping puzzles.

You can already buy them for badges. How people want to spend their money is up to them right?

However I do support buying upgrades and siege with Karma! I mean.. I have WAY TOO MUCH Karma, and do not feel that it is valuable to me in any way.

You are aware that exactly that is what they can do now, claim without ANY buffs, as a mean of not allowing the server they are fighting to claim with buffs?

Anyways, I only suggested it to spark a discussion that it definitely needs to be improved.

Yay, outnumbered again… Seriously, RoF needs alot more players.

The only good thing about being outnumbered is that we can lose with a happy smile. FS and UW only rely on numbers (like FS in overlook just a few mins ago), they dont seem to use any tactics at all most of the time while RoF uses the “Run-around-and-annoy-everyone-despite-of-being-outnumbered” tactic greatly

Oh, not to mention FS and UW dont seem to try to touch each other… yea, fighting an outmanned enemy is way easier.

None of us really have a lot of numbers which is why we’re all in this tier to begin with.
That is why FS dropped from T1 to T7 because we’ve been loosing numbers.

Also You might want to check the score evolution for this weekend. Where RoF were ahead in points the first 48hrs. You have great weekend presence and I was during the weekend getting exhausted by the fact that you were everywhere:

The glitch into hills: I did that once or twice a few weeks ago, because it was fun to try out. I also insisted on attacking something when inside, because I wanted to have some fun. It would never have been my intent to capture anything, just causing some havoc

Last night / this morning as well we ended up inviting the guardian to our party as we were done killing them inside of bay (they kept fighting rly hard!). While he was on the floor, we killed the lord, and I greeted him.
Kidding aside, they put up a great fight for quite a while, and we had a lot of fun together. Ended up dueling each other on Paradise island!

Guardian – Mesmer: Guardian won. Long slow fight.
Guardian – Necro: Necro won quick and deadly fight!

I’ve never complained about any of our matchups, but this matchup really brought back the fun into WvW for me! !

In Dynasty Warriors we take in new players on a regular basis. We host together with other guilds on our server introduction runs to WvW (yes the pure basics! Was a lot of fun and even some of our more veteran players of WvW learned something new).

Our guild chat is filled with questions and answers about the game on a daily basis, and sometimes even I who used to be the guilds living encyclopedia learn something new about GW2.
We help our members find cool things, secret places and host general crazy events both outside and inside of WvW.

If size doesn’t matter (good choice btw) you might be interested in joining an International guild on an European server. We are currently strengthening our NA and Oceanic timezone based member base to get more activity during those hours of the days.

A lot of our EU members play on some weird hours as it is, which means you’re very likely to have someone to play with any hour of the day. Our current EU primetime has 40-50 players online, and night/morning (NA/oceanic prime time) we’re about 5-15 members online.

We are a casual PvX guild, with a strong WvW force and now an sPvP team. One of our NA Officers handle sPvP and the other WvW together with 2 European ones.
Our aim is to become even more international which is why we’re actively recruiting more NA/Oceanic players.

Together with the community on Far Shiverpeaks we are working on making WvW better for us as a server. We’ve now landed and stabilized in t7 and are here having good fights together considering our numbers. Our focus is not our tier tho, but to have good matches and fun.

If you would like to broaden your horizon you might be interested in joining an International guild on a European server. We in Dynasty Warriors can offer you players online all hours of the day, and we’re currently strengthening our ranks with players from NA and Oceanic timezones.

On the EU primetime we have 40-50 people online. And during nights and mornings (which ends up being NA / Oceanic primetime) we currently have between 5-15 members online. This is weekdays. Weekends there’s always more people on all hours of the day.

We are very social, and have a strong WvW focus. Our aim is to have commanders spread out to cover all hours of the day. Together with the rest of the WvW community on our server we host events and have a lot of fun together. We are also very active in an Alliance that pulls together larger raids for WvW at least once a week. (Holidays are kinda screwing this up right now).

We have recently promoted two officers from NA, who are helping us with a lot of good stuff. One of them is WvW focused and one more into sPvP. The guild itself is casual PvX so we also have a large player base that you can do dungeons with.

Having read through all the replies here, I only have one answer for you and that is:
Roll a necromancer.

We might be seriously bugged, but we are also kinda OP when played right and have about 3 health bars.

Currently we can not claim a unbuffed keeps or towers, if it is already claimed.
But for good defenses you want to be able to rotate into a guild claiming the tower that does have buffs up.

My suggestion is the following:
- Allow for guilds to claim keeps or towers if they have “superior” active upgrades to use. That means that if you have 0 buffs up someone can claim your keep from you.
- Add some sort of messaging or “information” on what keep you have claimed and on which map.
- Art of War upgrade “Messerger Bird” that can inform your guild when your claimed keep is under attack.

This way we don’t have to try and chase down a guild by finding out who they are through their Emblem, that doesn’t say which guild it is, so we can get them to claim something else and we can claim it over them.

this matchup definite have 3 servers I am looking forward to playing against again. Tough opponents that really brought their Agame when we (FS) met them on our descent through the Tiers.

“OH MY GOD WE JUST GOT RAN OVER BY A ZERG AND I JUST GOT INSTAROLLED TO DEATH AND NOT EVEN GOT INTO DOWNDSTATE! AN MY AWESOME FRIENDS DIDN’T GET TO SAVE ME.”-threads there is going to be if this becomes implemented.

I mean, I know I am crying (YES) right now because people even think about it. In some cases this is actually helpful to a small group as well.

I will be ANet on my bare knees and even offer all my minions as their slaves for the rest of their lives to them if they do NOT change this.
Work on continuously rebalancing classes instead.

I play a necromancer, and I still prefer spectral walk, mainly because it is a stun-breaker as well.
Before I started using spectral walk I also used the signet a lot (before the buff) and it’s health steal thing was omg save me now, awesome in some fights.

I might test it out.

Then again, I’m not the type of girl you’d see run “the most op build of my class”
Then again, NECROMANCERS ARE SO BUGGED. I just asume everything is bugged.

Firstly I really like the champion thing in WvW. I’ve never been on the attacking side, but it is good fun trying to defend against them…

BUT… sometimes there’s about 5 defenders & 30+ attackers with the champion. In these cases he’s not really needed. I’d suggest spawning him only when the defenders outnumber the attackers by 50% or something.

Unfortunately this is going to be hard to know. I mean anyone could spawn the event and then have 30 people come over as soon as it starts running. Should it then stop?

In a lot of the cases (at least for us) it has been that everyone of the 8 people waiting for the last 2 to fill up the 10 people needed for the event asks their guild mates, or jumps to other maps and so forth. By the 2 people and 1 minute later a lot of people have already responded to this call.
