If these problems are really such an issue, an not just a figment of your imagination, I’m sure they’ll be handled. Personally, I think t6 bags should drop in the entire open world for lvl 80 characters but that’s just my way of doing it.

That said, lets look at the facts:
- t6 can be made out of laurels
- t6 can be made as a side product from Clovers
- t6 can be upgraded from t5

Rising t6 prices merely mean these other options become ever more profitable.

3 T6 mats for doing my daily? I don’t hardly do my daily as it is, I got kitten ed when they implemented that system, I spent I don’t know how many years on WoW doing dailies and they added it here, people love it, but they don’t want other kitten from WoW, WHY NOT??? I want a mount, and a flying mount, but no, it’s to much like WoW, lame excuse people.

These dailies are not comparable to WoW dailies. In WoW they were a requirement for progress, mostly tied to reputation (which no one wants). In GW2 they’re something to boost the first 20 minutes of play, something like rested XP (which everyone loved). It’s not possible to equalize GW2 and WoW dailies. Mounts have nothing to do with this.

This would be a good thing if they raised the amount of T6 mats that came n the bags that the laurels bought, but 3 mats? Not only that you have no clue what 3 mats you’re going to get.

That’s almost guarantueed 60 silver. If that isn’t a good reward for the first 20 minutes of the day, nothing is.

People need a way to be able to go after the mats that they need, and Anet is taking that from them. And not giving them a legitimate reason why, they said the nerfs were a spawn bug fix, well that could explain the skelks in Southsun, but what about the rest of the world Anet? We would still like an explanation here. Waiting….

Don’t jump on the bandwagen but play the game instead. There’s nothing wrong with the drops. The thing you’re referencing was the closing of a few grave exploits. If that’s not allowed, then how could A.net ever balance the game?
People are farming different stuff, which means farming Orr becomes ever more profitable. If only you knew how economics worked.

What GW2 Can Learn From WoW

I love the argument of WoW is successful so, whether you think it is good or bad, it should be mimiced to be successful. The reason I love this argument is that it leaves out the simple fact that every single game since WoW that has attempted to mimic WoW has been unsuccessful. From this, the only thing I can take in is that in order to be successful you have to pave your own way and ignore what WoW did because doing anything they did because they’re successful will in no way help you become successful.

I don’t agree with Mimicking WoW just because it’s successful. But I do think because WoW is what 80% of the community probably knows, missing out some base functionality (LFG, Guild Controls, GUI manipulation) does make this game feel a bit unfinished. General quality of life things should be emulated unless there is a reason not to (EG. People feeling Inspect hurts the community, whether it does or not)

That’s all fine and good, but not what the OP is asking for. The OP is asking to mimic WoW for WoW’s sake. Not because it’s an actual improvement on the game.

And we all know Justin Bieber is the best musician ever. Radiohead should learn from Justin Bieber /sarcasm

I think mounts aren’t implemented specifically as a “we are not WoW” statement. Theoretically they could be implemented without breaking the game, but it’s better to make a very clear statement that GW2 and WoW are fundamentally different games. Everyone is on an even footing here (pun intended)

Loot being rather visible in GW1 was a big difference though. Especially those nigh invisible chests with yellows in them …

I don’t have an issue seeing the sparklies denoting a body has loot for me (and I run everything as low as it will go). Maybe that’s just me though…or maybe it’s because I move around like crazy and just note where the ‘search’ options pop up. Don’t really know.

This is strictly a WvW issue.

imagine the same with those sparkles trampled on by 2 zergs, each casting spells and effects. At that time, you shouldn’t be pressing F all the time either.

While I don’t personally mind picking up all my items one by one (7 years of doing this in GW1 never bothered me, why should it bother me now?), I don’t know if I’ll actually use the ‘loot all’ function. Still, nice for those that would like it even if I don’t. =)

What GW2 Can Learn From WoW

Well … A.net sure learned from WoW’s mistakes, and they weren’t few. The game was good for its time but is long past due.

I agree with most of them but still:

No raiding – Why ?

Because adding 30 strangers to my party don’t make dungeons more difficult, only more annoying. Furthermore raiding severely limits access to content because most players don’t go on dates with their videogames.

No gear progression – Why?

On any other forum this would have been a valid question, however because it destroys everything Guild Wars stands for it can’t be implemented in GW2. There’s other games that offer this, most people who play GW2 play it specifically to get away from gear progression.

No mounts – Dear god, why ??

Waypoints.

No opposing factions – Why not? It would spice things up. Charr and Humans still fight. There is the Iron Legion armed giant engines right outside Ebonhawke, while the opposition is constantly attacking charrs in Ascalon.

Because opposing factions fracture your playerbase, induce hate mongering for absolutely no reason and effectively halve the people I can personally play with. If factions have different professions and or abilities, it becomes a balancing nightmare. There are absolutely no benefits to opposing factions in PVE. In PVP it creates queuing and balancing problems that are virtually impossible to solve properly except by removing factions altogether.

No PVE grinded gear in PVP … everyone on an even footing

So thank you guild wars 2 support. Your all freeking amazing!

It’s so nice of you to write this, GambGaming. Thanks for helping your friend, and please send our best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I find this reaction controversial. Back in December when the Newtown shooting happened, and since there is no Off-Topic sub form(which I wonder why there is still no off topic forum), I came here and created a thread for a moment of silence for the victims of that terrible tragedy. The thread was quickly closed as it did not pertain to GW2.

There’s a time and place for everything, and the Boston Bombings had their time and place in the news worldwide. These forums are neither time nor place lest we post about every single tragedy around the world. Half Germany, parts of Czech Republic and Hungary are currently flooded. I bet you didn’t even know that. Did you see a single thread about that tragedy? Time and place.

True..time and place. Off topic forum is needed. Such an oversight. How difficult is it to create one? I’ll be suggesting this in the suggestions forum right now, I think for the second or third time.

I don’t think it’s needed, and neither is it an oversight.

And yes I knew about the floods in germany…one of my global counterparts works out of Germany. However, this is an english forum, hence the https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu.

I may be wrong but afaik USA isn’t the only English speaking country in the world and neither is English the only language used in the US. I have yet to see a single thread for Australian, British or Canadian disasters. I won’t play them down but again .. time and place. These forums are not the right place to honour the dead.

Not only that but English is the de facto world language on the internet which means the German problems are on the exact same level as the American disasters. Just saying because I don’t want to give any country a special place here.

I always wonder how people think the worst possible solution would be a “perfect” fix.

Please elaborate on how it would be the worst possible situation, if you dont read my comments first then reply with a constructive response then i am going to assume you have nothing intelligent to say and dismiss any comment.

It’s not a fix because it doesn’t fix anything and it isn’t perfect because it would just move the problem to the more populous server. In the end, WvW would become 5v5v5 on huge maps. We already have sPVP for that.

If your server is bad, you shouldn’t punish a good server for that by increasing queue times to unbearable levels.

Sounds reasonably acceptable.

Other PVE solution would be to reduce condition durations by 66% and increase condition damage by 300%. Same amount of calculations, just bigger numbers.

Isn’t it obvious that this is a direct buff to conditions?

It’s a null operation. No increased damage will be done, but it will be condensed to allow for more condition stacks eventually.

I have thinked about this solution but the problem is that condition damage is something that deal damage over time reducing the time and incresing the damage makes conditions muck more like spike damage this is something i wouldn’t like to change

Zero times three is still zero. Currently in PVE conditions are barely noticeable, I don’t think tripling their numbers while not actually increasing actual damage is going to do much.

Consoles ARE the future, they will get even more effective and smarter than they are and PCs will always be the same as they are. Time stand still for PCs.

I see no problem with wings, it’s a cosmetic item, or with Legendary, since it’s a prestige item designed for hardcore players, but for any other / exotic ascended gear, not including dungeon sets, 250 T6 materials and 100 Passion Flowers is grind in my opinion.

What items exactly are you talking about? Furthermore ascended is hardly necessary, most of the game is balanced around exotic.

It would be amazing if they gave us a way to speed this process up a bit.

Presuming you meant the karka shell upgrade … 100 passion flowers can be gathered in a week or two by gathering daily on southsun. 250 karka shells is a bit of a farm but can be done by hunting veterans. Speeding up can be done by buying this stuff on the TP, it’s not terribly expensive.

Engineer Trait Bloat

in Engineer

Posted by: marnick.4305

marnick.4305

I know some people think that themed traits should be locked into themed trait lines.

All turret traits in inventions, all elixir traits in alchemy. But by having those traits in other lines it incourages use of traits and utilities outside of the primary trait lines.

Actually it doesn’t. It only encourages min-maxing one type of skill by branching into other trait lines. If all turret traits would be in one line, you’d have to pick your top three, and get another top three in another line for another set of skills entirely. As such, you’re much more inclined to have diverse builds.

Second offense of the current system, is masking broken skills behind several must-have traits that make them either balanced or OP. Skills should be functional without traits to begin with. If a kit is broken without 3 traits, the kit has to be buffed.

in Engineer

That elixir X change sounds a bit over the top though, especially since it’s traitable to 90 seconds… like signet of rage on crack. I think that one can work as it is now, they just need to implement some more fixes to transformations (i.e. actual perma stability, not a strippable buff).

Trait would buff it to 20 seconds or so …

In my opinion, elites should be game changers, and making you into god for 10 seconds is exactly that. At that point there’s two things going on:
- you’re trying to make the most out of your elite since it has a long cooldown
- opponent tries to waste the most of your elite since it has a long cooldown

If elites are not inducing that behaviour, they’re not functioning as elite skills.

Suggestion: Elite to 4th utility

in Engineer

marnick.4305

Why is everyone suggesting to remove elites instead of taking the more sensible option … vastly buff them.

Mortar: Increase duration to 100 seconds, spawn 3 mortars (so you can barrage with non-engis). Problem is just that 1 Mortar is worthless.

Not enough. Mortars are incredibly useless unless you can form an artillery regimen with it. 1200 range is not far enough to cover important bits, and short enough for most professions to just stroll over and start screwing you.

For instance, Engineer itself has Jump Shot, a 700-range gap closer.
Elementalist has Ride the Lightning (900) or Staff Fire 4 (600). Not to mention teleport Cantrip (600)

Mesmer has teleport (900)
Thief has bleeping stealth
Guardian has bleeping teleport or leap (about 600-700)
Warrior also has leap

To make sure you won’t touch Mortar again, ANet decided that mortar:
1) Has very slow projectile. Enough to warrant clairvoyant-level of targeting
2) Cannot shoot anything that is within 600 range of itself, so enemies don’t have to go the whole 1200, the only need to go 600

Either you buff the range to 3000 AND increase the projectile speed or just remake Mortar into some kind of portable Bazooka (or, Balthazar forbid, Heat-Seeking Missile Launcher)

How about change “Mortar” to “Arrow Cart” ?

support is amazing

…until you try to do a password reset.

you need to provide a game key provided at purchase, the date of purchase, the card you used to make the purchase…

so if you no longer have that one email from a year ago that they sent as a receipt, you are basically f’d.

And that’s why you put all keys in a truecrypt document, put this document on an FTP and several PCs in different countries. Furthermore you keep the boxes for different gem cards in different locations (home/work/car). That way you can insure the following:
- if USA gets nuked, ftp server is unavailable but I still have my box at home,
- if home burns down, I still have FTP server,
- in case of zombie invasion, I flee with my car which has at least one key in the trunk,
- in case of war, at least one key is in the country I’ll be at the time.

Furthermore, I never delete emails so that one email … I still have.

Once you realize that yellow gear is more than plenty, the entire issue falls apart.

Ascended is only really necessary in FotM, and I only do FotM with 2 characters.

Another non constructive post that clearly didn’t read the full post to understand the issue…. Yellow gear is only ok if you’re doing open world only but what about dungeons ? What about wvw ? In wvw it’s required to actually do the best you can even if you’re in a zerg.

Do you use all professions in FotM20+? Because that’s the only place where you really need ascended gear. By the time you get to FotM20 with an alt, you’ll have the tokens for a backpiece and a ring … there’s no problem here.
Regular dungeons are balanced around exotics and don’t require ascended gear.
As for WvW … do you actually use all professions in there? It would strongly surprise me but then again … the choices of other people never cease to amaze me. That’s a compliment btw.

I’ll just say this devs… give us a way to turn in 100 dungeon tokens for 1 laurl… Problem solved.

Not nearly enough. How about 180, the amount for doing all 3 explorables on a given day.

Please stop putting RNG in the Gem Store

You need to plead with the people who keep on buying the rng stuff in the store, because unfortunately Anet/NCsoft/Nexon make more money from them, then they would if there was no RNG. This is Nexon’s whole business model and they are one of the top grossing MMO publisher/developers out there.

Long term or short term? I’d like GW2 to be still there in a few years from now. I don’t see those boxes as a sustainable business model on the long term.

Ascended is only really necessary in FotM, and I only do FotM with 2 characters.

Loot isn’t nerfed into the ground. Your statement is false.

Try getting some in open world then you might see…

Did several temples yesterday, got plenty of drops. Went into FotM20 and got plenty of drops. There’s nothing wrong with the loot.

Use a gem cards. There’s websites selling the raw codes without sending you the box. I can personally recommend www.gamecard.nu – although that’s a dutch website. There’s most certainly something in the US.

Your credit card probably still works too.

The damage is already done by then. I don’t see how they resolve this mess. They will screw many people over no matter what they do or do not do.

The mini value is already <1/2 of what it used to be. Only the non forgeable ones still retain their old value.

My first reaction:

HELL yeah … finally those overpriced kittens going down a bit.

Why does this remind me of the people offering to tell players how to get ten free Zaishen Keys, at the cost of two of them? (Some players went as high as five!)

That was something different entirely. On one hand you had people gambling keys for rare drops, on the other hand people who needed keys for /zrank. They found each other in this system, and it most certainly worked. At first I thought it was crazy too but there is a good reason for it.

No they didn’t. The whole reason for dust going up was the fact loot drops were nerfed to ground. So they still don’t drop, there’s just another way to get them now. Watch the other t6 as southsun disappears, good lord.

About the Thank You Gift: Thank You

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Yes, they did not have to give us anything at all. But they gave us something that is comparable to an insult, especially to those who patronized them since the beginning. Back then, i repeat, 4000 gems will get you ~10 gold. And they defended that.

1/ They gave us something comparable to a big thank you. It’s a free gift.

2/ If you sold 4000 gems for 10 gold you were ripping yourself. Everyone knew those rates were unrealistic, everyone knew they were going to rise over 2gp/100 gems in less than 6 months. That was pretty much a given.

Your problem is buyer’s remorse and that’s your problem, not a.net’s. Because of that, you see a thank you note as an insult instead of what it actually is … a thank you note.

No no no no no no NEIN NEIN NEIN. You’re effectively asking to destroy GW2 as a AAA game and have it thrown next to all multiplay garbage. Don’t agree. Good games are almost always exclusive, for a reason. You don’t know because GW2 doesn’t need to release on consoles.

and reported for using “failbox”. Don’t be that obvious next time.

Don't nerf Rangers to satiate the 'Elites'

To be fair, necromancers are by far the weakest of all the classes, with almost all traits being broken on release, and hardly any synergies working at all.

But since rangers simply do not function without a pet, the problems with pets severely handicap this class as well (at least we can swap out our minions skills due to the problems with the ai, even if it means abandoning an entire trait line). I’ve seen the issues that rangers run into in dungeons. Several guildies play a ranger, and they did not have a fun time in places like Molten Facility, where the boss clearly shows the problems with being so reliant on pets.

Are you kidding me? The only reason my group even completed Molten Facility was because I’m a ranger. I sicked my bear on the Berserker and eventually he stole all agro. Once the Berserker wasn’t jumping around he couldn’t actually kill the bear and we were able to burn him down no problem. Thankfully the dredge guy was more interested in me so his AoEs didn’t burn down my pet before I could heal him.

I’ll admit it was probably a bug, but too bad.

What I don’t get is, if Necros and Rangers are so bad, why is my Necro second only to my Ranger out of my eight characters?

Because ranger pets at least have a form of control, while necro pets are just dumb. Engis are third on the scale of bad only because they have the option not to play with pets.

Pet professions in MMOs are a nightmare to balance, yet so fun to play

It took months of player reports to get them to look at the kill credit bug. It took pages of player complaints on the forums to get them to look into the recently broken salvaging bug.

One day they’ll get around to this…

Thousands of posts are far less convincing than reproducible empirical evidence. Do you really think all those posts had anything to do with the fix? I put my bets on the single post containing a test sample showing that salvages no longer went 0-3.

Suggestion: Elite to 4th utility

Why is everyone suggesting to remove elites instead of taking the more sensible option … vastly buff them.

Supply Crate Drop: Reduce cooldown to 120 seconds, make all turrets overcharge after 5 seconds and drop a random kit.

Mortar: Increase duration to 100 seconds, spawn 3 mortars (so you can barrage with non-engis). Problem is just that 1 Mortar is worthless.

Elixir X: Gain all boons and +200 to all stats for 15 seconds.
