Are you all seriously assuming that I shout about my skill level in LA ? Even if I said I don’t? You people are what is wrong: you jump on the assumptions that I am an elitist, an arrogant person etc. In fact I can understand: you may have had such bad experiences with people like who you think I am in the past that as soon as you see something that could be a sign of their presence you jump in for the kill.
Maybe that explains my problems.
ProxyDamage has put it in words for you:
The key word is “statement of fact”Because someone that is actually good have no need to shout about being good?
What if it is relevant to the conversation? What if it merely a statement, part of a discussion? You’re right that most good players don’t usually mention they’re good, but sometimes it’s relevant, at which point it’s merely a statement of fact. And why do you care? If you don’t believe it to be true, why does it upset you? I doubt you go around the street correcting everyone who says something you believe to be untrue, especially if it’s not an objectively easy answer.
This entire comment is again, completely different than the original situation.
Now it’s “part of a existing conversation” instead of just a randomly self proclaimed statement of fact? God why can’t this post die. The story keep changing, the arguments are completely irrelevant… god just let it end.A statement of fact, whether it is part of a discussion or not, is just a statement of fact.
Nothing has changed in this topic, well maybe the way everybody interprets what I say, but then again it is interpretation so you know…We can close the subject. I got my answer: people cannot bear a simple statement of fact. People ask for humility that is morally unnecessary because they cannot bear the fact that people can be better. This has been stated several times in this discussion. People interpret statements, they are biased. People are inconfident and often frustrated about their skill level.
Didn’t there used to be a German leader in the past who thought this way?
That’s not a valid argument. You just invoked Godwin’s law and therefor lost the discussion.

I wouldn’t say it’s any more wrong than designating Thursday as laundry day. It’s just a way to ensure that it happens consistently without “life” getting in the way.
It will be a cold day in hell when god consistently gets in the way of my life.

But I think the game does match the manifesto.
I laughed pretty hard when I read this. Stop making excuses and reading into things. The game doesn’t match the manifesto, no matter how many times you or others say it does- people here have provided good examples of why it doesn’t. The implications of this, however, are up for debate.
I always have to laugh when people take a manifesto as an infallible unchangeable gospel that’s written by Dwayna and not humans. It is a statement that underlines the idea for the game, is pretty much open for interpretation and basically gives a direction. That direction still holds, and the manifesto has not been changed nor violated in my perception.
The cherry picked and quoted mined arguments by forum heroes don’t cut it for me. I play the game, I see the manifesto being implemented with every patch, with my own eyes. That’s what’s important to me.

since quite a few people seem to completely miss my point, I’ll state it again in bold:
I think SUDDEN changes in price caused by enormous changes are bad for the economy. I think it’s better to gradually let the prices adjust by slightly altering supply
Stating it in bold or CAPS doesn’t make you right. It only makes you a loudmouth. Stating it over an over makes you annoying. You’re only right when you’re actually right.
I think the low ecto and high dust were more damaging to the economy than the current shock. That’s an opinion.
The shock mostly affected speculators. Speculators are, at all times, a valid victims when repairing market damage is considered. In the end, they know they’re taking a considerable risk and they know it can go south.

Because the cashshop RNG feeds of the social downfall caused by the economic crisis and just exploits those who can’t resist it. It’s worse then gambling. (i made a long post about this a few months ago, stacked with social and economic expert opinions, it was removed for being a “conspiracy theory”.)
If boxes in a cashop in an MMO cause the downfall of society and economic crisis … that’s textbook conspiracy nonsense. Your"experts" are probably experts for hire or other scam artists. As such your thread was rightfully removed.

Anet showed a clear preference for and gave a huge advantage to those who spent real life money.
Three account bound minis being a huge advantage? Spend less on whatever you’re smoking and buy gems maybe?
Why are players who spend real life money worth thanking for their dedication while those who spend time and in game gold are not? We are dedicated and faithful players. I do not know how the decision to give out these minis as a reward was made. We are hurt by what may have been a thoughtless and backhanded insult from a young employee with not enough life experience to understand how this would reflect on Anet as whole. It reflects very poorly.
It reflects pretty good imho, people who support get a bit extra. That’s a very normal thing to do actually and I wonder why it wasn’t done before. You’re not required to buy gems, but please don’t presume you’re too poor. Not buying gems is a choice. As a student I easily wasted 20+ euros in alcohol and other fun activities every single week. If I wanted gems, I could have bought them by not drinking as much and that’s exactly what I did to finance WoW’s monthly.
I sincerely hope this was a onetime occurrence. Please consider what you can offer to players who have spent in game gold at the gem store.
From, —-———-
People who didn’t spend money are not to be considered for rewarding customer support. I don’t know why you’d think that. In game gold does not pay wages.
If they’d back down now and give freebees to people like you, people like me who are happy to be acknowledged will become rather kitten ed and rightfully so.

Because of the real world economic crisis which translates to bad feelings in this game. In WoW and GW1 there was a whole lot of randomness involved too, but no one seemed to care as much as today. Farming UW ten times and not getting a single ecto, it happened. Not getting a BDS in dozens of runs was just fuel for the next run, just like the economy was booming at the time.
Currently the world is in a negative cycle, and that reflects on the overall attitude of gamers, regardless of whether they’re actually affected by crisis and/or RNG. The game isn’t noticeably different in RNG aspects from games where RNG wasn’t a problem. As soon as the economy picks up, RNG will no longer be an issue.

I don’t think ArenaNet’s monetization lead is going to let that happen, unfortunately. It might take the proverbial stick to get them to change that.
Autohappens. Sane people don’t buy crazy stuff. I have a firm belief that humanity on average is sane, and that the ratio is even better in this game due to the required intelligence for certain game mechanics. The current cash shop implementation is self defeating.

Oh dear lord if that’s your problem … This only happens with overeducated people, those without any degrees wouldn’t see the problem. Ask your gardener for help.
I’ve got a compressor in the shed, petrol is a 5 minutes walk and the battery I’ll charge overnight. Who needs keys. Enjoy your Ferrari. Educated people really can’t solve the most basic problems.
But more accurate comparison … you were promised a Porsche, you expected a Ferrari, you got a Porsche and are now complaining you didn’t get a Ferrari.

1/ Make costumes work in combat .. currently these things are worthless to the majority of players.
2/ remove RNG boxes and put skins at a reasonable price (like the millennium upgrade)
3/ remove time limits on awesome stuff like unlimited tools. Have them on sale from time to time
4/ sell old living story content like the Bonus Mission Pack
5/ remove junk items such as revive orb, bank express, crafting stations etc unless they’re permanent account unlocks
6/ reduce black lion keys to 75 gems. Vastly reduce drop rate of black lion chests in the world
7/ add a dozen more convenience recipes for mystic forge stones
As for the positives … bank slots, characters slots and bag slots are correctly priced. I don’t feel there’s anything wrong with the dye or mini prices. Makeovers are OK. Costumes are OK if and only if they’re combat worthy.

There is no such thing as talent in MMOs (not including sPvP)
The only thing that you need in MMO’s is fast reaction times.
Given that most MMOs have something like Global Cooldown or Aftercast Delay, even that isn’t necessary. In the average MMO you’ve got 1.5 seconds to think your next action through. If that ain’t enough, you’re not worthy of the term “gamer”.
Most MMOs only care about gear, time and knowing the mechanics. In GW2 it’s mostly mechanics that’s important.

The rng Gods hate me with a passion. So far I have dumped well over 250 rare Greatswords and probably close to 100 exotic Greatswords down the Mystic Toilet with no success at all at a precursor. Today, while doing her daily, the better half (not sure how long I will still call her that now) dumped 4 totally random rares on the Toilet and got the Tooth of Frostfang. So if you do not see me in game for awhile it is because I will be occupied beating my head against the nearest brick wall.
So with 200g spent you’re angry you don’t have an 800g weapon …

@lordkrall: you’re wrong. Multiple entities of everything can exist with proper hashing and timestamps. Don’t use technobabble unless you know what you’re talking about.
True, but in that case those entities would not be identical, and that could result and loss of data.
Not when properly done. I would make cross-atlantic guesting have a 2 hour windup and return window in which the account is not accessible.
At some point, players must accept a hit, either that’s lag or a transfer time. If players would accept that, a.net could implement it. Problem being, players don’t even seem to accept a simple thank you note without an outrage, let alone transfer times and continuous lag.

I don’t what WoW you played, but the WoW I played the dailies gave you money for completing them, which is why we did them, I did mine mainly cause I was in a high end raiding guild and just needed repair costs everyday. They were not a requirement.
In TBC they had to be done in a horribly crowded pvp zone and could easily take an hour to complete the set regardless of which server controlled the island. They were required for certain recipes I think, don’t remember. In WotlK they were required rep farms for shoulder enchants among other things. I never finished them.
They did feel far more required than the GW2 dailies though which are completed by simply playing the game.

GW2 has been out for a while, and I am becoming increasingly ambivalent about it.
Whats changed? Why have my attitudes towards the game i was once so enthusiastic about altered? Well, I’ve been thinking about it, and I’ve come to the following conclusions.
Has that ever not happened to you after 10 months? Passion is lost over time, even for the most important things in life. It’s not like GW2 is on the level of a car, wife, kids, job. If passion for a videogame declines over the course of ten months … are you really surprised?
The conclusions are not relevant. What’s relevant is the fact that this game is not new anymore. Eye candy isn’t eye candy anymore. That’s not something to cry about.

I mean, whoever said in a meeting “well, that really does sound like a great idea!”. I don’t care about the latency issues, just let me play with my friends already…
You can play with your friends.
Simply transfer to a NA server.I am quite sure that they would allow this if it was an easy way to fix it, but since it probably isn’t they simply don’t focus on it, since it would really matter for the majority of players.
I am on a NA server… I want to play with my EU friends..
It’s not an issue of ‘fixing’ this, it’s an issue of “this bullcrap shouldn’t have been there in the first place”. They made it work for GW1, why not for GW2? (I’m not computer engineer, so if someone could enlighten my troubled mind as to why I’m gated from some of my friends, that would help as well)
Technical answer: it’s not possible because of the trans atlantic trunk cable which makes playing MMOs cross-atlantic very lag-prone. A.net makes the choice not to have lag for their players.
Player answer: it was possible in GW1 which had the same type of server backbone. It was possible before in GW2 until server transfers were locked. There’s no reason to not have this.
My Solution: international districts. People who play there know they’ll have a ton of lag, and should accept that.
@lordkrall: you’re wrong. Multiple entities of everything can exist with proper hashing and timestamps. Don’t use technobabble unless you know what you’re talking about.

How much gold you have?
How do/did you earn such gold?
How long did it take you?Because without playing for 10 hours a day, I can make maybe…2-3 gold per day playing two or 3 hours a night after work. That actually playing the game instead of COF farming….and selling nearly everything I get.
A gold per hour isn’t a terribly bad amount imho. I can make about that without selling all my materials.

could keep this up for pages, if you want – do it for every single line of the manifesto. I don’t see the point. We’re not playing the game we were sold. It’s a good game, it’s just not at all what they spent the last few years telling us it would be.
You could nitpick a few things from the manifesto, file them, morph them and jam them squarely in a circle and then say it doesn’t fit. At face value, the manifesto still holds.

This entire thread is off topic since Guild Wars 2 on a console is like ordering a Big Mac at Pizza Hut.
Why do you think that??
Because bi-weekly/monthly updates. Good luck convincing Sony and/or Microsoft to support that.
Consoles have strengths and weaknesses compared to PCs. RPGs and Adventure games like Final Fantasy, Fable and Zelda are strengths. MMOs are a weakness. And even though that might occasional be challenged (FF XI), MMOs as a fluid game genre doesn’t work on the rigid requirements of consoles, the exact same requirements that make Fable and Zelda such good games.
How’s that for a neutral argument?

We need something that could speed this up a bit, or at least give us an illusion that we’re not grinding.
Ancient karka shell was the reward for a one time event. The vendor was added for people who couldn’t make it. The high price point is meant to reflect that.
Since easy to get ascended earrings outclass the ancient karka shell, this vendor has officially become redundant. If you’re farming for that earring, you could just as well stop now.

This entire thread is off topic since Guild Wars 2 on a console is like ordering a Big Mac at Pizza Hut.
My company laptop, which I use on my weekly travels, runs WvW on capped 30fps on lowest. I have to accept that. Theoretically I could put it on uncapped high which would give me 40fps, but I’ve got 2 problems with that. 1/ I want kids. 2/ My boss doesn’t want to buy me a new laptop every 12 months.

mostly becaue arah gives 100% exotics of yur choices after few runs….like every explorable dungeon.
Thus the issue. Arah is by far the hardest explorable dungeon. Lupicus is a great boss (except for the whole “shooting outside the marked circle” kitten, but whatever), but also easily harder than any other boss in any other dungeon. But doing Arah P4 rewards you the same as CoF P1, or CoE P1…
It’s an issue with the current dungeon design…
Different skins and different stats. Furthermore certain legendaries require Arah. The most difficult title yet requires Arah. I think a skilled Arah player has more than enough reasons to do it, the guarantueed exotics being one of them.

World rank as it stands is fun, very fun, but the implementation has several glaring issues. Long term these will become more and more annoying as people rise in the ranks and more abilities become available.
- not visible to own server. Add an emote like /rank in GW1
- not account wide. Change this ASAP because it makes WvW less fun
- permanent point allocation. This should not be. A respecc book should be implemented, even if it costs 1g to buy.
This would improve quality of play a lot.

Well,i’d say it’s about time after 10 months, people have been suggesting to give looting its own key or auto loot everything in wvwvw for an eternity now,and after 10 months they come with this…Im glad its finally being adressed, but 10 months is an awfull long time of suggesting..
What kind of job do you have? If you do anything with programming, you’d know that such things can take an extremely long time, not necessarily because they’re difficult, but because they’re not important.
Looting mostly works in this game. Changing working systems has last priority. There were far more serious issues to address first. The game is now relatively bug free, at least concerning game breaking stuff. Time to work on the fun stuff. For the same reason, lfg tool is far down on the prio list.

This game would be great on the console market you have no idea how much people would be willing to play this but can’t because WVWVW and other events where a lot of players gather is to taxing on their measly pc. I seriously had to buy a 1.5 thousand dollar gaming laptop(im at college so desktop is not an option) to be able to run WVWVW on GW2 at high settings.
I don’t get it … buying a 1.5k laptop is an option, buying a 1k xbox+tv is an option. Buying a 600€ desktop system isn’t?
WvW isn’t something you want to do on a laptop on high settings. That is simply not meant to be.
Gonna ignore the first paragraph because that will be me basically trying to explain my own PERSONAL information as to why I don’t have a desktop right now so i’m going leave it at that.
I’ve been a student too, and I just accepted that I couldn’t play MMOs on high settings with a laptop. Also, I wouldn’t have spent 1500 euros on a laptop if I could spend half on a pc with monitor, and half on a decent school notebook. That’s just the way I’d have done it. That’s why I’m curious.
On the other hand i play WVWVW at 30-40 fps on high settings on my laptop with it easily going above 60fps if i wanted to lower the settings a bit. You could say"it’s not meant to be" but yet i do it so…
Ye sure but what temperatures do you have? Are you sure you’ll be able to have kids in 5 years? Will you buy a new laptop in 2 years when this one 100% guaranteed burns down?
Personally I’d have gone with lower graphics but sure, to each his own. I would never, ever recommend laptops for games. Extremely high end computer hardware is my day job btw.

Everyone is saying the same. You’re feeling entitled. The only way to disprove that, is by not acting entitled to something you didn’t qualify for. The promotion was clearly for ongoing support which you didn’t do.

I always wonder how people think the worst possible solution would be a “perfect” fix.
Please elaborate on how it would be the worst possible situation, if you dont read my comments first then reply with a constructive response then i am going to assume you have nothing intelligent to say and dismiss any comment.
It’s not a fix because it doesn’t fix anything and it isn’t perfect because it would just move the problem to the more populous server. In the end, WvW would become 5v5v5 on huge maps. We already have sPVP for that.
If your server is bad, you shouldn’t punish a good server for that by increasing queue times to unbearable levels.
i see your concern but it wont effect with higher population servers, only a few peopl would be dissallowed, like i said, you still havnt explained HOW it would effect everyone else apart from arborstone or blacktide, give specifics when trying to make a counter argument
There isn’t an argument to counter since you’re wrong. Therefor it’s very difficult to give specifics.
If it doesn’t affect servers, it doesn’t work. If it affects servers, it primarily affects the good servers which isn’t allowed in a competitive game mode. Furthermore it’s a very crude fix to the wrong problem.
What’s your argument really because you make no case at all.

You shall have no other Gods but me. > Dwayna, Grenth, Balthazar …
You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it. > I bow down to Grenth to go to UW
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God. > Dear lord we’re already at three.
You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy. > sunday is the best farm day in the week. Most people online for drops
Respect your father and mother. > Except I regret not looking for them
You must not kill. > no comment
You must not commit adultery. > Kasmeer
You must not steal. > Too many hearts to remember
You must not give false evidence against your neighbour. > Pretty sure Asura have some of this.
You must not be envious of your neighbour’s goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbour. > Which is the cornerstone for the entire legendary hunt.
Ten commandments broken. Feel free to add gambling to the list.

Hello I’m here to tell you DR is not a problem if you don’t farm. Furthermore A.net first implemented DR in 2004 in a game called Guild Wars Prophecies, back then still called Guild Wars. I don’t know why you’re surprised it showed up in Guild Wars 2.
So why can raptor farm for 3 hours and have not a change in loot, but at the end of one temple event in Orr I see no loot at all?
1/ because you keep changing the leechers in raptor farm, which makes you reset the DR every time. Try the same with undead in bergen hot springs.
2/ you’re lying. I get tons of drops from all temples. Pics or it didn’t happen.
Did you play in early GW2? CS was filled with people, and I just like to kill tings over and over to get loot, the only reason why A-net changed this was beause of the Legendaries
I did play in early GW2. Did you play in early GW1 where loot was far more difficult to get than currently in GW2?
Do you really like to farm like a lobotomized zombie or do you make yourself believe that because you want the legendary? A.net knows that farming is not fun and people don’t like to feel forced to farm. They’re forcing to you to not be braindead. Vary your activities and you won’t be hit with DR at all.

I’m not saying my issues raised are the biggest examples, they are just the most current I could think of.
To marnick.4305 I’m not sure if you remember the manifesto… but there was a line “In most games you have really fun tasks to do occasionally and then these really boring tasks to do…”
I watched the manifesto over and over back when it was released, and I watched it again some time ago because people claim it’s broken. It’s not.
Can you honestly say that the rest of the people posting on the forum are saying moa racing was fun, some did enjoy it others said it’s pointless rng. Then dragon bashing and cannon firing, is that really fun.
There’s people who really seem to enjoy the moa racing. My brother is totally into it and I personally find it fun to watch people running with moa. One of the silliest things I’ve seen people do in an MMO yet.
I for one like the dragon bashing activities. That kind of achievements are exactly what I’m waiting for when I get home from work. Do something in a game that for once doesn’t involve killing stuff.
To each his own though, I like dragon bash a million times more than repeating a raid dungeon with 40 people I couldn’t care less about.

I don’t get it … buying a 1.5k laptop is an option, buying a 1k xbox+tv is an option. Buying a 600€ desktop system isn’t?
WvW isn’t something you want to do on a laptop on high settings. That is simply not meant to be.

A lot of guild-members got a mini pack that had 3 Holographic mini’s in them. The reason they got it because they both 500 gems somewhere between the release of the game and this was ArenaNet’s way to ’thank’them for the support.
Now I do not buy anything from in-game stores. Thats why I buy a B2P game and not a F2P game because of this sort of things. And F2P games that are doing there best to get people buying stuff from there. Hate that, so I go for a B2P game. (To bad GW2 is now also doing that more and more.. but that was expected as there is still no expansion announced. B2P games should run on the game and expansion).
To be frank … a.net stated from the get-go that they depend on gem sales to keep the game afloat, since box sales simply didn’t work for GW1 as a long term business model. That was one of the major reasons why GW2 exists and GW1 Utopia was dropped.
By refusing to buy gems, you refuse to support the game. If everyone did that, the game would have collapsed by now. That’s a fact and confirmed by A.net devs. Their business model is built around selling gems
That said, you’re not required to do so, because one person buying 100€ in gems is just as effective to keep the game alive as 10 people spending 10€ each. Brilliancy in design, and by adding conversion they’re letting you have a piece of the cake too. You can play it as a B2P game BECAUSE other people spend your share in the gem store. No need to thank me for that.
So my questions.. did you just forget about those people and will they still get it? Would be nice.
The people who didn’t buy gems were not forgotten. They simply didn’t do what it took to qualify for the promotion.
You’re being entitled. You can’t have the cake and eat it.

I’m with Vayne. Most people don’t PVP and don’t do hard-core PVE either. Most people just play because they want to burn an hour or two in the evening, and they want it to be fun. They play an MMO because interactions with other people are more fun than playing strictly single-player RPGs.
GW2 is a game that offers the RPG adventure of Zelda, Fable, Elder Scrolls in an MMO world. It’s the game really for people who play a single player game and wonder what it’d be like as an MMO.

i don’t get this community some times
a-net decides to be nice and gives everyone that bought gems a free dragon bash mini pack
then, all of a sudden it turns into a bribe from anet? do people REALLY see it as some fake gesture to players in an attempt to make themselves look nice?
it couldn’t just be, well, you know, a GIFT?
Oh im not saying it couldnt, but with how they are treating the events/festivals/traditions from GW, i dont think thakittens a actual gift/thanks to the players, but you gave us money before so here take this so that you aint kitten ed off at us. Then again i am a cynical kitten.
That’s not cynical. Your dishonest comments reek of jealousy.
There’s nothing to bribe the players for. We all see the game for the gem it is ESPECIALLY the players who pay money for gems. Those are not the one who have to be convinced of anything.

I totally agree with the op. Hard to believe with Southsun just over the same people are doing the same thing and arriving at the same complaints… bah.
One question: why does it say “user was infracted for this post” by the time stamp on this post?
Someone disagreed with the post and reported it for having caps because using caps is forbidden by the forum terms. Moderator bureaucratically agreed because the law is the law and letter of the law is more important than spirit of the law. I’ve been infracted for posting about something that’s legal where I live, in 5 states now too but apparently I was posting about illegal stuff.
Doesn’t take away from the fact that OP is 100% correct.
