Many ppl still play on low end laptops as thats all they have, and 2GB ram is still quite common.
Its certainly not ideal, but playable as long as you arnt in big groups.
If you simply cater to ppl with hi end computers, you lose most of your player base.
And lots of ppl still use XP.

I really dont understand the logic of , I must be able to do all the content in the game , or the game is no good.
No MMO has content that 100% of the player base will ever do.
I came from WOW as I got burned out by the raids in it , and I dont do the raids in GW2 simply because Im sick of raiding, but the fact that raids exist in the game doesnt fuss me in the slightest.
Ill never do all the JPs either, but the fact that they exist again is of no concern.
You dont have to do everything.

Theres no reason that MCs have to able to be acquired quickly, whatever that means.
They arnt essential for anything which means the reasons for acquiring them is purely discressionary.
From Anets perspective , people buying multiple copies of the game to get MCs is a great thing as its more revenue.

Theres a big differance between challenging content , and content that is fun and entertaining to do.
I found the Mordremoth fight doable, just, but it sure wasnt fun, and theres no way Ill do it again.
On the other hand other events in the game are fun even though they arnt challenging.
The AB meta event is like this , easy and fun.
Games must be entertaining, and that means providing content that people are happy to do , and enjoy doing it,such that they will do it again.

I really dont understand these types of complaints.
If you dont like salvaging and dont like boxes in boxes then stop looting stuff.
Theres far too much of “I dont like doing something” so therefore the devs must fix it.
if you dont like doing something in the game then dont do it.

According to the specs on the turret, it has a max range of 4500, and damage of 3500, which would imply you could fire it at the Octo from the other end of the room up near the Priory NPC.
Think Ill give it a try.

Theres nothing in the Gem Store thats needed to play the game.
Its all discressionary stuff and none of it affects what you do in the game , or where you play or what events you do.
Its also mostly stuff thats very easy to create, so about the only additional things that are likley to be added are things that fit this criteria.
Anet would most likley give consideration to making extra items if lots of players wanted them and there was very little effort required to add them.

Why is the endgame so "unrewarding"?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: mauried.5608

mauried.5608

The only way to satisfy the OP is to implement the WOW model, which means forever increasing the level cap, and this then requires an increase on all the weapon and armor stats, which in turn requires an increase in the stats of all the monsters, and the difficulty of all the content has to be raised, and the rewards all have to be raised to make the more difficult content worth doing.
Anet have chosen not to go down this road and for good reason, as the above model essentially creates an ever ongoing gear grind.
If you have run out of things in this game to do , and whats left isnt fun for you, then its time to move on, as this game is no longer suitable for you.

Your assuming that legendary weapons should have some kind of regulated price, and so therefore all the ingredients that go into making them should also have a regulated price.
Why should there be any kind of price cap on anything thats sold on the TP, considering that theres nothing whatsoever on the TP thats needed to play the game, or cant be obtained by any player simply by playing the game.
MCs are time gated, but are time gated for everyone, including the players that are selling them on the TP.

The price of items in the gem store will be directly proportional to how useful the items are in game.
And the shared inventory slots are extremely useful which is why so many people have them.
And they can be bought with in game gold by converting it into gems.
The conversion rate is extremely good at the moment.

A compromise solution which would make most players happy would be a method of exchanging XP gained from doing whatever you liked in the game for mastery points.
The exchange rate would need to be non linear such that the more mastery points gained this way would then require an ever increasing amount of XP to get the next mastery point.
This solves the problem of XP becoming worthless after L80, and keeps everyone happy.

The AB Meta event only takes 15 mins to do.
15 mins every 2 hours isnt going to do much to drain the other zones.
I do this event a lot , and it typically averages around 10 – 15 players per gate, so a total of 60 players tops.
Thats less people than you typically see standing around the TP in Rata Sum.
As for why ppl dont go to TD, how about the insanely difficult terrain.

No action needs to be taken, as there is no problem to fix.
Ppl are assuming that there is some “standard” price that MCs should sell for , and when they dont something is wrong.
Theres currently 21000+ MCs for sale on the TP so there is no supply problem.
The TP is not a shop.
No such thing as guaranteed low prices.
If you want to bring the price of MCs down then sell all of yours and that will increase the supply, thus making them cheaper for everyone else, but of course no one will do this.
Much better to blame everyone else for not selling theirs thus making the price cheaper for me.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I dont understand the point of threads like this.
The TP isnt a regulated market where items should cost some fixed amount.
Its purely a supply / demand driven market where the prices will flap all over the place all the time primarily due to what the player base are doing.
Lots of people, myself included store lots of stuff in the bank for future use, but I sometimes dump stuff when its unlikley Ill need it anytime soon.
Prices going down due to a supply / demand variation is a good thing so I cant see what the OP is complaining about.
You see more complaints about prices going up for the same reasons, but caused by hoarders, flippers and market manipulators.
All good buzzwords because ppl simply dont understand how the TP works.
The TP in this game is the best one Ive ever seen as it doesnt suffer from hyperinflation in the prices of items.

Im not a fan of the JPs, but the thing is they are puzzles, not just jumping events where all you have to do is follow the arrows and keep jumping.
There has also got to be a puzzle component of it, so that figuring out where to go is part of the puzzle.
Not everyone will be able to do all the JPs, which is no differant to most of the games contents.
Maybe Anet could put a sign at the start of each JP with some info about how hard it is, like warning really hard JP ahead, enter at your own risk.

There isnt a supply problem.
Theres currently 23346 MCs for sale right now.
What there is, is total misunderstanding of how the TP works.
Supply and demand always balances out, but sometimes it takes a while to happen.
There are too many impatient people who want stuff immediately and therefore think the TP must supply the items immediately at some “affordable” price, whatever that is.
As for all the hoarding nonsense, people who acquire items in the game are just as entitled to use them in any way they wish as anyone else is.
There seems to be an entitlement mentality that I must sell my items because someone else has more need of them than I do.

Turn off Gliding

mauried.5608

If the gliding problem is really stuffing up your game , there is a hardware fix which may help.
I use a Logitech G105 gaming keyboard which has definable Macro keys, and you can program the keys for a predefined key press time.
25 ms is enuf to make your char jump but will not open the glider as its too short.
As the keypress time is always exactly the same , no more unintended gliding.
There are many keyboards on the market that can do this.
You can also do the same with any of Logitechs gaming mice, but that means that to jump you have to press a mouse button instead of the keyboard spacebar.

The TP is a supply / demand driven economy.
MCs are currently 90s and there are 11000 for sale.
This morning the price spiked at 1G 10s for a short while as the supply fell down to approx 7000.
The prices fluctuate all the time , so if items are too expensive for you either wait a while or put in a buy order.
The TP is not a shop where cheap prices are guaranteed all the time.

Drain the currency

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

mauried.5608

Depends a lot of what you are farming.
Lots of players do the AB Tarir meta event which gives lots of loot, but most of that loot is greens and blues of which about half wont sell on the TP immediately so you have to list them and pay the 5% listing fee, or try salvaging them which usually doesnt yeild much thats sellable, so most goes to the vendors.
Most people wouldnt indeed bother with shopping around for better prices but by making the prices variable its easier to control the gold inflow into the game.
Most people dont know or care what they get for their junk items as long as they get something, and arnt likley to notice that on differant days they are getting differant prices for the same junk items.
It does help people who have trouble making gold to get ahead by shopping around.

Drain the currency

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: mauried.5608

mauried.5608

It could be made even better by allowing competition between vendors who buy your junk.
Currently every vendor in the game buys your junk at the same price all the time, and the vendors never run out of money.
If some competition was applied such that the price vendors gave you for your junk was based on how much junk they have already bought today players would then have to shop around for which vendor would give them the best prices.
Could make this attractive by making vendors in remote places offering much more for junk than those in busy cities.
By daily making the prices variable Anet can exactly control the rate of gold supply into the game.
