Don’t forget that the sand shroud skills have an insultingly small 180 radius. In wvw or spvp your team has to be right on top of you to get cleanses and barriers.

Edit: also torch looks like trash, off hand dagger will still be my go-to.

I agree, the radius should be 240, The Grand master trait seems to do exactly that, turning the 3 small into 1 big 300 radius shade. But unless it triple its effectiveness its actually worst…
I disagree with torch, It looks strong for condi builds. You still can have dagger as 2nd off hand

The whole concept feels so close to the revenant support line, but done right, don’t you think!? Or will it turn to be as useless as Ventari…
I like it as a whole, but need to test it. Also, as everybody already commented, will this make us more vulnerable or will it be enough to replace the shroud hp bar!?

- Garish Pillar is trash. Need longer duration and unblockable fear. Or additional effects like Infusing Terror.
- Sand Savant. Unless you want to support your whole raid(10 ppl) it seems weaker in almost any way. wtf am I missing something here?!?!
- CC, again our greatest enemy with this spec…

What interest me more is whether the barrier is refreshed once per pulse. If that’s the case, it make this “desert shroud” no so bad.

Watch WPs video. It doesn’t. The barrier would have just about finished decaying before the skill stops pulsing.
The skill will still apply 14 stacks of torment to up to 20 targets.

5 around you and 5 around each shade. That’s if it works that way else it’s just 5 over all but still it’s not a bad amount of torment. Also tested torment is as strong as beled while still or twice as strong while moving. 14-28 stacks of ‘bleed’ isn’t a small amount to snuff at if you can get all the pulses to land.

And you keep pumping bleed with auto attack and other skills meanwhile. But it need to be tested! in game before really whining or cheering about anything

Its actually 16, but nobody comments on the real drawback, namely the internal global cd. Now if I want to use certain skill I swap attunement then use the skill with almost no delay(up to half a sec). Wit the new spec I will need to swap attunements twice whit the global cd and only then use the skill I want. Am I suppose to predict my oponent every move 3sec in advance?!?!?!

Just finished this hard and annoying part by killing 5 waves of adds, total of 50. The tool tip in the corner updated, but the achievement wasn’t completed…
Please, fix this and give me credit, because I invested enough time and nerves in this and don’t want to do it again…

All you need to do is finish east towers, which are the fastest. Also smaller group can kill it easier then larger. The more people the harder to CC and most people can’t or dont use cc aayway.
So get 5-10 ppl and do it. Use LFG tool

lose Signet of spite and get well of suffering or suffer instead, if you depend so much on vulnerability. Lose some vulnerability traits like unyielding blast for speed of shadow. All in all you you cap vulnerability so fast that all this traits are useless.
Axe AA alone will cap it in few secs

i have this problema with warrior when running the default meta-power build.

the solution i find, is rely in any build thats provides AoE. Or a hibrid with minions work too. a hibrid build with minions make impossible warrior win 1×1 cuz many of warrior atacks are single target.

My actual build is here, is AoE shout spam+bleed, very effective against warriors. i win in average 9/10 against warriors using this.

GREATSWORD is essencial, is the doomhammer against warriors. Nightfall is your shield.

90% of warriors are unaware of Aoes atack cuz they think they can absorve anithing. so they all shouts spam without try even a dodge.

Looks like a fun build. I presume its power bases, is it?

All you need to do is practice, meaning play the necro for longer and you will stop doing that. Its common mistake for all new necros. I still do it sometimes, but very rarely.

I have hard time playing against the cc heavy war builds. The GS can be avoided much easier, but the cc is leaving me defenseless. Its very annoying.

Really… I play pvp for long time, but never was to serious about it. But after reading this post I now see some patterns. Also this can explain at least partially how I idropped from top platinum and had many losses without any effort from my teams.

I see necro more as preventing the party from taking damage then direct healing. Might have support in form of better hp steals.
Protective shields that deal damage/harm the enemies(similar to Vengeful Hammers). Also Some heals/effect that use Life force as source. The more LF you have the longer you can use some skills(again similar to Revenant Vengeful Hammers).
Or the more LF you have, the more powerful the skill execution are. 100%/80%/60% or 100%/75%…etc)
Which probably will lead to the need of bit better LF generation.
Or enter stance where you redirect part of the damage from your party to the necro, and get some benefits from it.
And so on… Many possibilities, but none of them will even be in the game

I would like one day to get healing elite spec. But you are not right about gw1. Necro was healer ONLY while using skills from its secondary profession. So it was never a real healer, unless you count stealing hp as healer ^^

Necro is pretty strong, but depends to much on support from your allies. They need to heal you and cc your enemies so you the necro can deal damage. If your team try to help, you are good, but half the time this isnt working and you are focused and killed easily.
Your biggest enemy are the numerous CCs. You just dont have the tools to avoid most. All you can do is run and stay at range, but then some thieves and revenants can pick you alone.

The worst is Dragon Stand, because the whole thing is all about the meta event and there is absolutely nothing else to do there.
TD is one of the best maps in the game. Its very entertaining to explore and traverse. Almost perfectly done(could have at least few more hidden mini dungeons)

The difference by just following the commander and be in a squad is pretty big. You don’t get buffs/heals. When you die you don’t get rezzed. You are still helping, because you are eating the damage and with your sacrifice you help the zerg to survive longer and eventually be victorious. But you can’t get loot and you need to run every few mins to rejoin the zerg.
In the end only the most stubborn keep running with the jerks that hate you!

Tested it extensively in pvp and its pretty kitten weak. Its really only good to pressure downed players, but the old plague was even better at that and stomping/resing.
I’m even more disappointing now…


This skill need further rework. Something between the original plague and the current skill.
120 cd/220 range mobile field/instant cast/10sec. duration/2x stability for 3sec. The skill is no longer “corruption” and cannot get reduced skill cd from the trait.
When cast weapon bar get 2 skills.
- 1st skill is offensive. Act like the current skill giving offensive conditions and stacking them(bleed/poison/chill/torment/burning/last tick gives fear).
Also Gives offensive buff to the party and pulse vulnerability every 2 sec. for its duration(halved in pvp/wvw)
- 2nd skill is defensive. Its more like the original Plague. Pulse defensive conditions(cripple/weakness/blind/last 2 ticks gives slow) and gives toughness and pulse protection to the party.
You can swap between the 2 skills but with 5sec cd.
The actual elite duration doesn’t start before you choose one of the 2 skills. It automatically enter the offensive skill after the stability duration ends without interrupting your actions.

Hot maps with 3 levels are very very good idea and they works extremely well.
DS map on other hand is a disaster. Its not only back to the normal 1 level map but its only used for single meta event and there is nothing else on it. I hope they avoit DS map design (and partially Auric bassin). I hope they dont repeat this pointless experience.

I don’t care for such titles, BUT they will be very handy when joining high LI groups. Instead of showing LI, you can show titles and they cant be faked!

They are absolutely realistic. You need only few hours with good group to finish all 4 wings. Few hours a week. I need 90 more LIs to craft all 3 sets, thats like 2 months.

Tell that to anet who does the server linking. They link top tier servers. It’s so silly.

Thats the obvious fix for the empty maps. The current spike in population will go dow rather soon, so just dont play for few days/week or be ok with waiting in the queue.
Lag on other hand is impossible to fix, Nobody came even close to fix that issue in any game. Its annoying and can be game breaking, but its part of the whole.

You have 1 trait that heals a little Blighter’s Boon and you have dark fields in which you can use Combo Finisher: Whirl to steal hp, but only works if you hit 1 or more targets. That’s all I can think of atm.
Not much really

PS: Signet of Vampirism, but I’m not really sure it works in shroud. Havent used this heal for long time.

Still no pet bar either, I started playing again last wednesday and have leveled a necro to 80 and the most annoying thing is not being able to set the minions to passive when i needed, They get stuck on monsters until they are dead unless you run away which keeps you in combat regardless so you are slow running through most places.

This is intentional. They are designed that way, if you want to control your pet play ranger.

Blood does offer a potential group dps boost in the vampiric traits, with a minor heal. Don’t know if the increase for the whole group warrants using it over another traitline or not.

If I remember correctly it affects up to 9 people, outside of party. Unless it wax changed?!

We should get Flesh Shark. The sharks also already have the charge and knock back ability anyway. They fit perfectly…but…Anet…
I don’t see a problem of just killing the normal minions in the water and get instant skill reset with the UW minions(if some or any are equiped) and vice versa. That way we will need to re-summon them, but I can live with that, even if its not the best solution.
Best will be if they just transform into their UW variants the moment necro dive.

Necro benchmarks at 33k now without epidemic cheese, so it’s at least somewhat competitive with the other DPS classes by itself… If it’s a fight with easy epidemic cleaving (VG, Sab, Sloth, Trio, MO, Deimos) or if you have an ele dropping icebow, reapers can easily get top dps numbers.

Granted there’s not a lot of fights where you specifically want a necro for their utility and taking Blood is a dps loss, but there are some utility uses necros excel at without sacrificing their dps uptime: plague signet in Matt and Sloth… Golem charge is great for doing sabs on Trio w/o baiting Zane teleports… Epidemic makes MO so, so easy for pugs.

But, I mean, really there’s not a real big reason to NOT take a necro as a pure dps role either anymore. (Their benchmark—although harder to hit— is only 100 dps less than condi rangers.) I’d say the biggest reason necros still have a bad reputation in the raid community is that most necro players are just really bad and/or a lot of commanders are still building their pugs with a-few-patches-ago mentality.

That’s all speaking to raids specifically… As for fractals, there’s no enrage timer, so really, it doesn’t matter what you bring as long as they don’t die (which necro’s excel at.)

I agree with most. But to say that almost all necros are bad and thats why they are not welcome is just wrong. Thats just not true. As I said this 2-3 times already, the real reason is people who are clueless and/or don’t/can’t read.

If you run fractals once per month, then you can find them fun. But no, for me they are as boring as dungeons. I like the new swamp boss and nightmare, but soon they will join the rest.
