A tad bit late on this, but I would like to give KING and i believe i saw Cosa and a couple other guilds out there props. You guys stuck around and continued to attack Redlake in DH Borderlands for 2 and a half hours. I was commanding that whole thing, it was completely ridiculous! You guys just kept coming! There were a couple times where i didn’t believe we would of held it but we did. Once again, good job to you SF. It was a fun night indeed, I’m sure your people had fun because we know we did

We had a lot of fun at that tower, although I think you guys went a little overboard with those endless breakouts. Taking on KING, the SF pugs, and Siegerazor…? Sure, what’s a little champion smacking around the tower for good measure…

In other news, I was looking through the screencaps to find a good one to post and what do I see lurking in the corner of this one, but a wee IOJ taking down our siege on the side. The amount of coordination I’ve seen this weekend between the two servers to take down our siege is pretty commendable, if that’s the word you want to use. We’ll set up on center island to hit IOJ, and SF will come up the back to take it down. We’ll throw some defensive siege up on a tower in SF BL, and IOJ comes to build an AC to take it down. Now if you guys could channel that coordination the rest of the week, and within your own servers, this matchup would have been a lot more exciting these past 3 weeks.

Been a pretty fun weekend guys, thanks for saving us from being tier locked with Ehmry Bay. :P All in all, good practice for us, fending off 2 fronts. Word on the street is that ratings system will change to become more volatile in the coming weeks, so hopefully things will get shuffled about. Good show.

Just extend the timer to an hour, would make the world of difference. At a half an hour, you don’t have enough time to defend/scout/flip camps back to be worrying about making it back before the siege timer is up. Plus very few people have the presence of mind to refresh siege unless it’s right in front of the waypoint in which they spawn, even if you remind them. Extending the time would give those who want to devote the time to refresh siege to do so without forcing them to leave the middle of a defense to go make sure water gate is covered.

Nice IOJ. And when we rally the troops this week we will be sure to give you some extra hard loving.

This matchup has gotten stale much faster then I ever thought possible. It’s rinse and repeat….sf strong on reset…we catch up Sunday morning and by Monday we have a 10k lead. By reset its 60k. Isle pulls into second when SF gets demoralized ……over and over again.

It can’t be this hard to get servers together that make good constant matches.

As a d/d who exclusively WvWs, they took our niche which was previously filled by two classes: thieves and d/d eles, made thieves gods of roaming and d/ds a joke. I cannot be the reliable door knocker either, as the buff to guards on T3 keeps along with their stuns makes most of the doors suicide for me. A thief on the other hand has no trouble at all. All I am good for is baiting groups into chasing after me (and after all of these months, the only people who do so are now the thieves of the group) and getting into towers quickly and safely in order to build Arrow Carts.

Meanwhile I watch thieves do what I do, only with stealth (1) AND damage (2). If they had wanted to handicap d/d mobility and survivability in, the least they could have done was balance the thing we were sacrificing before: damage. Even better, make the boon/RTL/MF nerf applicable only to sPvP. Like LordByron said, tank roamer, and a mediocre tank at that, is pretty useless in WvW.

As a side note, in WvW, thieves do what we do better in every way, and if we are going by badge ratios, my best thievy thief friend does so 12:1 times better than me last reset, lolz…

Well while this 7 month-old thread is briefly revived… DH has been holding her own fabulously after all but three of those guilds in that list transferred/disbanded… heh. A resilient bunch for sure. We are a healthily active server with a great balance and interest in both PvE and WvW with a solid community for both. Come guest in our LA and take some sightseeing photos of our resident dancing naked norn.

DR is strong during prime time, same as SF. SF definitely is stronger if they can wipe all maps on reset against DH and IoJ. Even if SF moves down I doubt DR can beat them.

It’s simple math.

SF would roflstomp DR and make lemonade out of their tears. And DR saw that coming a mile away, hence the afking for 5 days out of our last matchup to flee into T7, with a smug flip of a certain finger to Dark Isle of Janthaven.

But I think with the current populations and organizations, the servers that belong together are BP/AR/DH/SF/IOJ (maybe SBI?). We are the JV team. So of the JVers… who would you want to make the cut into the final fantasy UNISERVER?

I’d throw [GOAT] and [HARD] in oceanic- those waypoints would be up in keeps by the time the banker’s shift got online, and [PD] on home border patrol. [ALS] and [Abys] would compete to see who could build the most golems and take the most keeps during primetime/evening slot and [KING] would be organizing the whole thing while smoking stragglers in the rear. I’d send [ND] to the jumping puzzle to grief the pants off anyone entering with dreams of badges and siege in their heads. And I guess [GRIM] could send their signet warriors to take camps or something.

Because DH’s 40 man EB zerg is just going to roll over and let IOJ day cap all of our stuff. Likely! The synergy of our populations for weeks has shown the same pattern. When IOJ pushes DH during the day, we push right back (naturally) and IOJ ends up third in PPT because it takes much longer and much more manpower to push us than SF/DR. True, SF could capitalize on that and gain more points (DR’s EB zerg wasn’t as savvy, so it would knock DH down a bit). But if both IOJ and SF were pushing us at once, who do you think would get pushed back harder? So arguing they’d be first already if only they were pushing DH is illogical from IOJ’s pov. But it would just put SF in a better position for first. Hence, I’m sure, why you are even bringing it up :P

I see your point, but first off: I said they could better contend for 1st, not really saying: hey if you hit DH you would have first locked up.

SF is gonna be 2nd or 3rd, the trends show that up to this point. I understand that you think there is some benefit from me saying all this, but really if we aren’t in first I could care less. Beyond that 1st is really just a feather in your cap, sure it is nice to have, and that is the goal, but beyond that you get nothing.

My point was that IoJ might capitalize better because they have somewhat of a wildcard in their oceanic coverage. I was admitting that IoJ will blast SF at night, my only question in their logic was their NA primetime methods. SF has more than proven they can hold their own for the most part during NA primtimes, and we have shown (for whatever reason) more of a propensity to go after DH (while we still do push IoJ, not saying we dont). I just see far more attempts at DH than IoJ, in EB.

Dear, sweet, little Melody, I can see where you would insinuate that I am insinuating something. Truly, I can see that now looking back, but like I said I was more curious of how they were justifying it to themselves, do not get all upset in your DH cushy first place and think that I am trying to dethrone you princess. SF is and will be fine no matter the place we are in, the only thing that will vary is the bandwagoners/PUGs.

I could say something along the lines of: “I don’t care what you do, go ahead hit us both in tandem”, but then that has already happened. So SF has no fears anymore at this tier, but clearly judging by your comments and supposed reasoning of mine, you and/or DH has some definite insecurities.

How dare you try to come between us! Dark Isle of Janthaven works in tandem. The evening shift of our illustrious alliance turns your T3 keeps to paper and paints it green. The oceanic shift of capitalizes on that paper (like any oceanic shift would) and paints it red. I don’t know if it would quite work the other way around, as we’ve established numerous times that IOJ just doesn’t have the numbers to stave your server off during primetime. So no, the other half of Isle of Janthaven is doing precisely the smartest thing (and most cost-efficient). But not to worry, as Isle of Sorrows alliance will resume in T-minus 2 days if the last two weeks are anything to go by.

Was going through mine, and particularly like this surprise!sandwich sequence in which one slice of bread must prevail:

a) The reset Furnace consuming all
b) IsleofDH running from the furnace

With WvW fairly stagnant in siege placement, tactics… what would a lagfest upper tier server offer me? Down here I learn from every server I play, I work to improve my server and each and every one of us “hardcores” is important to our server. If we decided to take a break, there aren’t 10 other guilds who will just pick up the slack. We have worked hard to climb up in rankings, and we did it without the transfer to wins. And ironically, the servers that fell down into these tiers from on high have had a sore wake up call. While your servers were fighting those unbalanced glicko-induced nightmare matches in the winter where they were either spawn camping someone’s citadel or being spawn camped, we were sharpening each others’ daggers. Come to NA T5-8. We have cookies and thick skin and great fights.

To the three Sorrow’s Furnace who /laughed at me and let me run by last night as I was sprinting to our garrison: Yes, your team was already in the lord’s room. Yes, your zerg has just broken inner wall at bay. Impeccable timing. But next time, you might want to consider killing any and all stragglers. For [PD] is kitten fast and kitten good, and when I arrived in the lord’s room they were still staving you off, and I was the one who built the arrow cart as fast as my swiftness could go that helped to put the final OP nails in your golem-sized coffins. And then I booked it to bluevale to help take down your remaining superior trebs and then spent the rest of my time slapping some AoE on your rabid, angry zerg which stubbornly humped bay’s outer wall for some time. Rejected at keeps thrice last night. Just tough love, SF.

So I’m sure watching the stragglers high-tailing it to the garrison when you thought you had 2 keeps in the bag was simply hilarious, but I get to have the last laugh of the night.

Also, epic three-way SM battle again. Still loving this matchup. <333s to IOJ and SF.

Is this how you plan to get to T5? DH has huge coverage gaps as well, so delightfully capitalized on by AR and BP. I know you guys are hurting in oceanic slot, which is hard to fill and IOJ happens to have it. We get PvDoored by them as well. But ah well, in my opinion our servers are very balanced at the moment. More closely balanced than any server I can remember since autumn. but good luck to you and your transfers. Hopefully we can continue to have balanced fights.

Hmm, kind of hard to say since I think DH and SF will both evolve a lot after a couple weeks of this current match-up. I look forward to DH and SF feeding off of each other to the point where we both belong in T5. Given time I think we will see quite the difference in all three servers in this tier. IoJ will evolve a lot in this match-up as well, I’m just speaking mostly about DH and SF because of what I am replying to.

I see this happening as well. Both of our servers have spent quite a long time stomping (with our three week interlude on the flipside, getting stomped), and it is probably the first time many people on DH have faced a server that matched us so well. I see a lot of good stuff happening yonder, including those large organized guilds, and I see DH crossing her arms a bit and rising to the challenge. I also see quite a bit of our server in yours, namely both of our clamoring for STERNMIST at all costs, the most beautiful castle that shines brightly in the eyes of young SFers and DHers everywhere ~grabby hands~.

And another observation: from the first week we played IOJ recently (i.e: who/where are they…?) to now: you guys are a new animal. Props to getting on your feet in the face of larger servers. I see a lot of stubborn holding and sneaky ninjas, and enthusiastic participation in the new/old T6 meta game: GOLEM ARMIES.

Very excited for the matchup to come, bring your all and let’s play some dub vee dub.

IoJ always plays for second which is why the score between IoJ and DR is closer than it should be. DR is by far the superior server.

DR, your 40 man EB zergs could do a lot of nice dangerous things. But mostly I see them doing a lot of not so sensible things. I have a lot of “ohkitten, what if they do THIS with their zerg” moments, only to have you guys not do them. T7 servers pushed us harder and better and were much sneakier about it. I mean, look at IOJ! They took WC while we were occupied with you. What opportunists. Cookies for them. And a little extra DH love to your towers and keep afterwards. <3

el oh el. Use the animals to your advantage! Hilarious to tank through a pack of wolves or or drakes while trying to do small group combat or 1v1. They’re there to make the pvp more dynamic, and I think they can be highly effective. I’m always pulling my enemy into animals to gain the upper hand in a fight. Being a bunker, I let the animals do the DPS for me. kitekitekitekite XD

Do you want to fight small roaming groups or be a part of them? HoD has a lot, but if you want to fight them you’ll have to be on SF or NSP. DR has a lot, but if you want to fight them you’ll have to be on IOJ or DH. If you wanted to be a part of a guild that does that, you’ll find them on most servers. Look at the forum threads for T6, T7, T8, but I think you’ll probably find what you’re looking for in T7.
