Because Black Friday only affected one server… I never understand why people make excuses having to do with the outside world for their own server. No, another game’s beta doesn’t just affect just your server. No, a holiday doesn’t affect one server unless you’re talking about specific EU servers and specific cultural/national holidays. But both SF and DH have NA populations, with SF having a large Spanish-speaking population and DH having a large Portuguese-speaking population. Neither of us has a night presence. We have always been, and probably will be for quite some time, VERY close servers as far as our population makeup goes. So we can all just throw these “holiday” stuff out the window now, kay?

It kind of makes me warm and fuzzy inside to see our HoD friends here Of course, “friends” will turn to “frenemies” next time we play but I appreciate the posts. Except the posts from Bllades. His momma is so cheap, that 25 gold he’s going to win will pay for her /dance performances until League Season 8.
As to the CoSA people complaining about our small havoc groups running away from them, have you ever ran in a group of 5-10 and gotten repeatedly mowed over by 40? That’s not a fight, that’s a lootfest. So pardon us for trying to ninja, take camps, steal towers and keeps when we can, and avoiding your never-ending stream of players (see pics below). I mean, all we can do is stand there and watch you come, or waypoint out :P But the smaller fights this matchup have been a lot of fun, thanks especially to ET for some good times last night.

But honestly last week was the lowest turn out I’ve seen since the Mag and SoR matches. My take is this: harder fights deterred the fair weathers and even some of the guilded peeps after Monday. Because I can guarantee had their not been a 2v1 and we were doing PvD all week there would have been hoards there doing the same crappy stuff they’ve been doing all season.. spawn camping, emoting, kitten etc.
You do realize your population was inflated by people who couldn’t handle losing on the servers they transferred off of… why would they be able to cope with losing on their new server? SBI got a lot of peeps from DH who wanted to jump ship when the “month of PvE” happened- queen’s pavillion, scarlet events… people weren’t showing up to WvW any more as we were playing some tough servers and no one likes defending. I remember asking for help in my old guild which was one of those who transferred to SBI to defend our BL against BP and was greeted with a guild roster full of people PvEing and people laughing at me. When BP had two waypoints in our keeps I remember counting 30-some people online in that guild farming in PvE with a small handful in WvW helping out. “We play WvW to have fun, and we’re not having fun if we’re losing” was their attitude then and that’s the attitude you’ll get now. Bumping because Darkhaven is awesomesauce and still growing and fighting the hard fight. We’re bouncing back and beating servers that beat us before, and loving these close matchups in Bronze. Healthy small-man scene, healthy zergs, and several budding WvW guilds, both large and small.

Some combination of the fact that there is little evidence that anyone on the dev team plays WvW as endgame or views WvW as endgame, they view their game as casual content and PvP as the only “hardcore” content, they never devoted enough money or resources to WvW upon launch and have never remedied this after how popular it became, and they view the living story as the breadwinners of their game and don’t care to cater to the WvWers because they don’t view this population as needing to be enticed to coming back week after week and spending $$ on gems… these are the explanations myself and friends have come up with, because really, there isn’t an excuse for not remedying the simplest of UI and bug fixes and bandaging the most obvious broken parts of WvW.
Evidence to part one of that theory is being able to beat any players with the dev tag above their head without breaking a sweat, and even watching them run off cliffs at full health to their death. They don’t want to/have time to play WvW like us and therefore are disconnected with it and unfamiliar with the combat and meta. Reading a hundred complaints on a forum isn’t going to convince anyone to change anything. Actually playing WvW, actually caring about it, actually facing these broken problems day in and day out is what is going to change the development team’s attitude towards WvW.

AR/DH I’m here to offer a service, “Dodge Mechanics 101”.
In the lesson pack I will teach you the forward dodge roll, the reverse dodge roll, and even the pesky and most uber dodge rolls of them all!!! the left and right roll! With this lesson you will be able to survive a 1 push! Yes I guarantee you will not die on the first push using this method!
PS: Other classes are available, Like my favorite. Rangers offer nothing in WvW 101. aka roll another character.

I would agree with that assessment overall except from what I saw last night was a similar DH presence in both FC and GoM, but the FCers (including our group) couldn’t get a foothold due to FC’s better defense. Hence why it appears as if we were hitting GoM really hard when in reality, our efforts on the FC map just weren’t as fruitful.

I think this matchup is what Anet intended a long time ago in a board room far, far away before they royally trashed population balance of servers. *cough*freetransfersfor6months*cough*
Ironic that it took a mass exodus to give us the match of the year. With that, keep fighting my comrades on Darkhaven, and it’s been a pleasure GoM and FC. Cheers to a fight to the wire- how matchups should go, not determined on reset night.

I have been playing guild wars 2 since launch on “auto detect”, which typically sets the graphics to low and medium. If I want to however, I am usually able to set it to best appearance in order to take screenshots or preview items.
However this last week I haven’t been able to set my graphics settings to “Best Appearance” without the entire game crashing with this message (screenshot attached). I have submitted the report through that pop-up about 5 times now with no fix. Does anyone know what I can do to solve this issue?

Is Anet considering anything drastic to address the issue of population imbalances in WvW? Like closing servers, merging servers, locking transfers, shorting matchups, or reducing map capacity? I think it’s clear by now that the problem is simply compounding now as the months go on rather than improving.

I stopped farming for stacks ages ago and just let them come now with kills, but I never leave home without my -36% condition duration food on my mes or war. Otherwise my face melts off in 3 seconds thanks to the moar conditionz meta and that’s no bueno.

How dare they utilize stealth traps to counter your ridiculous, normally uncounterable class mechanic? Was it tiresome for you to have to fight for more than 4 seconds at a time?
Come on that is way to excessive for such a little group. Doesn’t matter the class. They also had two thieves. By my standards, I would say there is no reason for siege when you have 2 SR’s of your own, along with a mesmer and a ranger.

For NA, you’ll find a lot of roamers on the servers in T6, T7, and T8. However, each server does have its primetime blobs even down here. Northern Shiverpeaks has the most amount of skilled roamers although if you want to fight them you’d have to be on a server facing them. (and some devs like Devon Carver are playing on NSP so if you want to get your anet kills in, better transfer to a server facing NSP). HoD, NSP, FC, DH, and SF all have healthy roaming scenes but also hold a healthy blob, especially in EB. AR might be a good choice for you but the danger there is facing the same few servers week after week. DR used to have a ton of roamers but seems like most of them transferred to greener pastures on high. I honestly don’t know about ET, we’ve never fought them. And GoM has El Taquito Bandito, the thief that kills people with fireworks, so clearly a winner there. ;P

We’re aware of, and actively discussing the amount of progression we’ve added through WxP and the difficulty for playing multiple characters as a result. When we make changes to help address alts/WxP rank, we’ll make sure to specifically call out the change is to help address that issue.

Tell me you’d rather buy your ranks (implemented in March) with laurels (implemented I can’t remember.. sometime this year) over being able to kick offline people from party (should have been fixed in beta). Taquito you use fireworks to kill people…..That is more OP than any other weapon in the game. Can you get a legendary fireworks box? How many crayons do you have to stick up a dragons kitten to get that one?

I really would like to see a short condition cooldown after you remove them. I have three ways to remove conditions in my build on my warrior, plus I run the -% duration food, and yet on the frontline you are swamped with conditions as soon as you remove them. It would be reasonable to have an anti-condi buff (say, 2s or something) where once you remove bleed it cannot be reapplied immediately. It would balance the fact that condition removers have too long of cooldowns compared to the constant spam of conditions in this current meta without ruining the balance of the other part of the skill that does not involve condition removal.

Not to point out the obvious, but the problem is twofold.
One: Arena Net. (and problems 2-9)
Ten: Large guild transfers.
Remember when SBI and DH fought over the summer and in all three matchups no one knew the outcome on reset night. You won first, we placed second. Then we won first, you placed second. Then you placed first, we placed third. Now you’re spawn camping CD, a server that spawn camped us. The problem is at the heart the fault of the game mechanics and matchups which are too long and a game set up around rewarding the PvDoor. However, we did have relatively balanced matchups with you once upon a time and it would simply be incorrect to blame all of these blowout matchups entirely on the game mechanics now without taking a good look in the mirror.
