I had this winner of a teammate while proceeding to go 27-1 in the 2 matches I was partied with him, some matches you just aren’t suppose to win based off comps. But they will pull out any excuse they can as long as it isn’t there fault.

That’s what’s currently happening though. People get through their placement matches and end up as rank #30. Setting a minimum amount of games played right from the start would stop that from happening. Imposing a minimum amount of games played mid-way through the season wouldn’t.

The leaderboard wouldn’t be as volatile as it is now if the people had to play 30ish games before appearing on the leaderboard. By that amount of games a player’s MMR should settle.

Why would you not want the minimum to be imposed right from the jump?

I think there should be a minimum amount of games played before you’re eligible to be on the leaderboard. It’s much easier to get 1800+ after your first 10 games then it is to maintain it after 30 or so games. I propose it should take somewhere between 30-50 games before you’re eligible to be on the leaderboard.

It’s only been one week mane. In another week you’ll be top 25!

I think being able to drop divisions has become a real eye opener for a lot of people. Also, watching your MMR drop can hurt and be a reality check. There are no more safety nets. If you weren’t sure of how good or bad you were before, you are now…

What do you think of Season 5 now that it’s been one week?

There was a lot of debate about burn vs. power. I’ve fought several burn Guardians/DHs in my matches and I’ve even seen one that was Platinum. There are still a lot more power DHs though

- Watching my MMR drop

- People raging at me after a loss instead of giving me constructive criticism

- People saying “ez” in map chat

Removing solo queue would be terrible for PvP… If the game mode really was designed for organized team play 5 man queuing would still be an option. There’s a good reason it’s not anymore. They just need to remove duo queue

There are some great on swap sigils out there. Sadly, you only get to use them every 18 seconds for most professions. Professions that only have one weapon set or Revenants can trigger their on swap sigils more frequently than other professions.

My suggestion is to turn on swap sigils to time interval sigils. For example, Sigil of Leeching would grant an effect every 9 seconds that allows you to steal life from a foe. Like it does now, if your attack misses, is blocked, etc., then you lose the effect.

Carrying a game as a solo queue is hard as hell. I wish ANet would show us the MMR of our teammates. I feel like teams are composed of players from a wide range of MMR.

I think if you play a support class like Ele/Druid or a class with mobility like a Thief/Mesmer, then you can carry pretty hard, but for me, a DH, there’s a limit to what I can do. :/ I really wish everyone had to solo queue, lol

They absolutely need to show other people’s MMR or at the very least, the average MMR for both teams.

Two teams’ average MMR could be close to one another’s but still consist of a wide range of MMRs. That’s why most surveys use the median.

Team 1’s MMRs: 1,900; 1,800; 1,750; 1750; 800 (1,250 average)
Team 2’s MMRs: 1,800; 1,300; 1,250; 1,000; 1000 (1,270 average)

I know which team I’d want to be on if I saw each person’s MMR…

True, we have no idea right now. It’s the same type of mystery we had when we didn’t know our MMR but ANet could look it up. I strongly believe ANet doesn’t want us to know the MMR of our teammates, because then we might realize something. An average will lie to us. I’d rather we use the median

You have to do damage and mitigate damage. Healing and rezzing is bad in low tiers …

Eles are a great support. If your team lacks DPS, then yeah, an Ele won’t really shine

Step #1, use an Alt account that has no ranking. Win your top 8-10 games which will put your MMR at 2000+ (you should do this with a partner to ensure this happens).

Step #2, play 1 game a day (win or lose) and your MMR will adjust ~33 points at most.

Step #3, ignore playing RANKED for the remainder of the day.

Step #4, collect top 250 prize.

A borked system is borked. The problem is really step #1 where the MMR for new players is way too artificially low when not established.

Nope. He said he has to duoq once he hit a plateau so that’s only three people to carry.

That’s the flaw of the system I am talking about. If I consistently getting “Close game” where everyone are roughly the same levels then I wouldn’t have to duoQ. However, at some point you realize you have to duoQ to save your sanity and reduce chances of getting total care bears. I think with more time ANet will improved their system. I regained faith in anet with how this season is going at least.

Another issue that will become more apparent as time goes on is people not queuing aside from counteracting MMR decay. Being forced to duo queue is a pain in the neck, because first you have to find someone to duo with…

Solo queue is like MMR suicide… Jesus. For duo queue to exist and be ‘balanced’, it shouldn’t be possible for one team to have two duos and another team with none… Especially at higher MMR. This is crazy

Wait, so you went 10-1? Win/Loss doesn’t affect ranking. MMR does. So if you win a lot of games, but beat low MMR players, your rank will be lower than someone that has a more average W/L, but beats high MMR players
