So our keep in EB was capped. Naturally, I went straight to the top of the tower above the green keep in hopes of dropping a portal later on. But I got killed close to the top.

Then I spotted something unusual at the top of the tower – A GOLEM!!!

Of course you must be wondering like I did, how the hell did he overcome all the jumping-puzzle-like stairs and climb all the way up to the top?

Then I realized he can FLY! He must have invested 1000 pts in Golem Mastery cuz that is just dope!

you can still carry a sword in gw1, my favorite is Runic Blade.

If you roam with a power shatter spec, I’d say sw/t all the way. It is the current meta for very good reasons. Almost all good mesmer roamers from my wvw tier are sw/t high burst spec. It’s the most effective but it gets boring at this stage of the game.

A little bit. I really like Fort Aspen and Random Arena. My reflex is really bad but playing as a ranger or mesmer and interrupting skills feels so good. And I like that you can equip skills from your 2nd profession. Just thinking about the builds that people come up with is kind a funny. The touch ranger, hamstorm… oh god.

As a standard shatter mesmer, I can surprise-burst celes as a good opener when roaming. In duels it’s extremely hard as they can easily dodge your shatter skills had about 10 games with a cele and only won 2.

1. Backpacks on phantasms are correctly displayed
2. Vertical teleporting will not work if there isn’t a path between spot A and B
3. Power break grants 3 stacks of stability to you and your allies

Tormented shield because i use ruinc sword/tormented shield on my mesmer from gw1. it was one of my favorite looks from the game.

I play wvw (solo roaming) mainly on my warrior and mesmer so I figure I should provide some comparisons. Both my two chars run full zerk (a couple of cavalier pieces on my mesmer). My warrior runs a hammer/GS meta variant (2/0/6/0/6) and my mesmer is standard shatter (4/4/0/0/6). Some of the stats difference with food buff (warrior/mesmer)
power: 2400/2400
crit chance: 41/45
hp: 21k/17k
armor: 3000/2000
crit dmg: 215%/215%

The stats are rather similar, aren’t they? except for armor, maybe you can argue that warrior is a heavy armor class and it’s melee so 1000 armor difference is not a huge problem. However, let’s look at other aspects that are crucial in wvw.
1. condi removal
Warrior: melandru runes+food=-60% condi duration, berserker stance=8 second condi immunity, cleasing ire=burst/cc+condi removal
Mesmer: either it’s mender’s purity or mantra of resolve or zero cc clearing ability
2. mobility
well no need to go into this regard right?
3. burst damage
Shatter mesmer for the win! only when you thoughtfully lay out your burst chains and time your skills
Warrior can do the the same thing with much easier burst setup with 3 hammer hard cc.
4. Sustain damage
Recharge on warrior weapon skills/ weapon swap is so short which makes warrior highly sustainable in fights.
Mesmers of course can sustain well in fights but have no room for any error.
5. healing
warrior probably has the best healing skill in this game and it’s so simple to use (you never use it)
mesmer’s healing skill is like meh

These are just my personal opinions based on my solo roaming experience with both classes. and from my personal experience, mesmer is just too underwhelming compared to warrior in regard of wvw roaming. Don’t get me wrong, I still love playing my mesmer solo roaming because it’s fun but warrior absolutely wins out in nearly every aspect when it comes to wvw roaming.

Warrior is hands down one of the best roaming classes.
Hammer/GS meta is the current meta, providing you with great mobility that guars lack.
You can check out famous Ham/Gs twitchers such as Shinryuku_ku or TapDatMouse and decide for yourself. They both are amazing Ham/Gs roamers.

If my memory serves me right, Tarnished Coast is has a huge population of pve ppl and RP players. But I’m not on that server anymore so I’m not very sure

In WvW Rampage is amazing! Not good for zerg fights but works great for roaming, especially good for 1v2. I run the Hammer/GS meta with rampage and it’s good not only because of the very decent dmg, 3 hard CC (6 include hammer skills, insane right?), and 1 gap closer, it’s also useful to help you run away and reset fights.

I think last night or the night before last night, FA built a sup treb hitting at SBI spawn in eb.

I don’t post on forum because I consider myself under experienced compared to most. But, I have been wvw’ing for months & have to agree with Hamster. I gave up about a week ago for the most part. Why enter wvw when you are getting continuously stomped. Thinking about changing my avatar name to “Road Kill” I want to help my server, but it feels as though all my efforts are for naught atm. Why get disillusioned in a game-I can get that in real life. I have invested a lot of time in wvw. Nothing, I imagine compared to most of you, but I have almost reached Pug Rank 900 (I don’t mind being a pug). Hopefully, this state of affairs will straighten out in the near future-my hopes are for sooner rather than later. And loyalty is a big factor for me.

I could feel your pain. I just recently changed server to FA for world completion for my legendary. and it’s a massacre in eb, spawn camping, ktrain 24/7. i could do solo roaming in BL and didn’t see one enemy for hours. the matchup is insanely imbalanced. I truly recommend you switch to a more populated server, at least it will be more fun.

As a mesmer, OS jumping puzzle had been and will always be my favorite gamemod of GW2. There are so many things going on and there are so many things you can do! My favorite things are fights at the dungeon arena, fights at spawn, portals to flip the top (double portals with other mesmer), portal trolling own ppl to fall to death, tip for the taxi, spikeroot fruit, planks, mesmer GS-5…. the list goes on and on. Even though the whole JP crowd (who stayed in JP all day long) was bashed badly by “normal” wvw community, those were my best moments in the whole game.
I wish Anet can make OS jumping puzzle like a mini game (can be like EotM, a 4-hour mini game) that encourage equal amount of people to play from all three servers. It will be so fun!

Definitely jumping puzzle fights for me. I had been playing my mesmer like crazy and all I ever did was jumping puzzle…
Portal ppl up and collecting tips (can also drop a portal a lil too far the edge to troll your ppl from falling to death, which i used to do a lot in LA and Divinity’s Reach)

I was just solo roaming in BG bl and ran into a teleport-spamming BG elementalist, guild tag [SG]. We encountered at least four times and everytime he couldn’t beat me and then teleport away (not the utility skill and has a much further range thatn that skill).

The first time we met we were fighting around the bridge near the south ruin. He managed to go into the wall and all my projectiles couldn’t hit him. After fully regened, he somehow decided to come out of the wall and resume the fight. However he again could not beat me and decided to ran away. Then that’s how i witness his amazingly-talented mobility. Within blinks, he teleported to some point almost out of my camera sight. Forget about thieves or nike warriors, this ele is the killer.

Of course after OOC, he shamelessly came back for me again. Unfortunately, this time he got downed by me before running away. As I about to finish him, he miraculously disappear from my face and I am out of combat. No exp. Really weird. As I was so puzzled by this mysterious high-end technique, I saw his name appeared on my screen from far far away. Of course, he again charged for me but I have lost interest to fight. I am so intrigued by this shameless behavior.

Of course I reported him for scamming not that anet will do kitten about it. But for JQ and TC roamers, if u see this tiny ugly asura elementalist with [SG] please pay attention. He is really good… at running away.

I don’t know where to post this and decide to post in this forum since that was my experience from wvw.

Is carrion gear or celestial the best for this build?

Even if the healing power is a bit wasted, I personally find that celestial armor and trinkets with berserker weapons gives the best overall stat spread for my preferences.

would u mind posting a screenshot of your stats? I am trying to decide if it’s worthy to craft celestial armor.

Been running it for two days now. It’s really fun to play and it works really well in both solo roaming and small group roaming especially with full guard stacks and bloodlust.

I am from TC and I was in the your shoes last week when we fought against BG. At first I was happy about this week’s matchup cuz I thought finally we didn’t have to fight Blobgate but now there isn’t a soul in borderlands… the whole wvw system is so broken and anet just won’t give a kitten

how about making the “report” action really mean something?
In gw1 I remembered there’s report function in pvp missions like JQ and FA. Once you get spam report, you are punished and are not allowed to play for a period of time.
You kittentainly use the same mechanics cuz trolls will absolutely get tons of report and it’s better to kick him off the wvw server for a good amount of time.

Mini Shiro would be a great choice for you but only exists in gw1

I linked my gw1 account since beta 2 years ago. But my gw1 account was blocked (after linking) for cash transaction (which I did not even transact 1 gold cuz all i’ve doing was FA and JQ back then) so I could not get any achievement in gw2. After contacting their service team for a million times i gave up and started a new gw1 account.

Now I’m wondering if I could break the linkage with my previous blocked gw1 account and link to my new gw1 account?

Anyone knows if there’s a way around it?

I do sometimes miss the story of gw1 triology. I seem to recall not all but most of the different stories happening in vastly different maps from three different campaigns. I do actually miss the excitement and emotions invested when I felt like I was bonding with those characters (prince Rurik, Gwen, Master Togo, Shiro, Komir) and the characters are relevant and memorable. Personal story in gw2 is just boring.

Don’t make a necro. Its only viable in zergfights, and in organized ones.

PvE: Awful, maybe the hunter is worst.

WvW Roaming: Worst roamer. Roaming is about mobility, necro is the worst in that. You can’t pick fights, if a big group see you, you are dead. And if you are winning they just run away and you cant chase them.

WvW as a pug: You are going to have a bad time in unorganized backline or if you need to cross the entire map to catch the zerg.

Dueling: Is pretty good but easy to hardcounter.

sPvP: is not in a good place right now.

If you need to choose ONE CLASS for all the game content, the most versatile class right now, you can do EVERYTHING with him, is a warrior, make a warrior. You can do everything good with him. Is not the BEST in each mode, but is good and great in all modes.

Meh. It’s viable in many modes. Not optimal, but that’s not what the OP asked. And this game doesn’t have hunters

PvE: open world = fine. dungeons = dps suffers badly due to condition mechanics, more than one condition spec’d party member is definitely not viable.

WvW Roaming: worst runner. The fighting part is viable and we do have chill/cc/etc to help with runners. Personally I’ve never understood why so many roamers work so hard to avoid actually fighting. I’m the kill-you-or-die-trying type.

WvW as a pug: I’ve rarely had trouble catching the random blue dorito. Switch in spectral green-butt-streamer-of-swiftness or signet of runs-faster till you catch the zerg. And I usually survive longer than most PuG zergers as a backline necro.

Dueling: no argument.

sPvP: no clue; not my thing atm.

Mobility is the only thing I could think of that sucks for necro and I’m also the kill-you-or-die-trying type (my mesmer and warriors are can’t-win-run/stealth-away type lol).

I haven’t played a lot with my necro and I mainly use her for wvw. I even only have unlocked traits for Terrormancer build but man I can 1v1 anyone and I never feared any other class in wvw. Even up against classes running meta (condi warriors, PU mesmers, Guardians using staff and GS who never die). The only class I had difficult beating was condi thieves but it can be due to I’m a n00b as I have played less than 100 hours.
Roll a necro. You won’t regret it.

Well, gw2 was launched this May in China. I don’t think 3 months of playing could make them competent for a tournament of this level. Also, no one even knows how those Chinese players are chosen cuz they can’t be found on pvp ranking, which probably means they suck anyway

I haven’t touched my mesmer since my necro hit 80… i feel like i can kill anyone with my necro (i suck at fighting condo-thieves tho) easily spamming my terror chain which makes condition mesmers look like a joke. Then I rolled warrior. OMG! the mobility, the damage, the 30k armor, it’s so easy to play and face roll anyone getting in my way. honestly speaking after playing necro and warrior, i feel like my mesmer (PU Hybrid) is useless as crap as I have to depend on buggy illusions (can be easily killed) to deliver very limited damage.

I own both mesmer and necro. mesmer in current version is very UP with bugs and stuff. Biggest weakness for mesmers – lack of CC clearing ability, lack of stability, lack of mobility.
My necro run Terrormancer build and basically can face roll any mesmer with heavy conditions. Corrupt boon does miracles for PU mesmers cuz they always have a lot of buffs

well reason is simple. mesmer is still capable to shine somewhat in 1v1 encounters. we all agreed with that. but most of the time u dont have those encounters. in spvp u will face multiple enemies and yes to still survive u will need a lot whereas with any other class u can do things easier.
in wvw mes is fading away and only reason to bring it is veil. pve… sorry but the loot is terrible u get on mes. especially if its multiple enemies. while im still strong in 1v1, i lack everything in groupplay. if this was a single player game, i wouldnt even complain, but i like other game modes. i love wvw and it used to be fun, but now wvw is a grind on mesmer. i can t deal aoe dmg, its hard to survive, i cant kill regen war, my illusions are useless, i have no stability, i got barely any multitarget skills, i have a hard time to keep up with my team due to out of combat speed being terrible and on top of that, mes has soo many bugs, its not even funny.
lately ive only played my necro and shelved my mesmer i have been playing since release. i used to raid with AVTR in wvw and yes we did kill a ton of players with glamour and even with triforce after that. countless nerfs though have destroyed the fun for mes though and the bugs keep adding up. so yeah thats why mes has reached to bottom of the bottoms….

I agree with you. I now roll my necro in wvw and it is so much fun to play and i truly enjoyed zerg fights, which never happen when i roll my mesmer

I ran a PU condi mes earlier feels like i could killing everyone, only if they’re willing to fight me, which in most cases enemies simply escape. Recently I switched to PU hybrid with GS and sword/pistol. The only builds that I have problems are condition heavy ones, such as engi, necro, and warrior cuz the only condo removal I gear is Mender’s Purity.

I used to run a Blackwater Build (PU condi) which works great, with the best survivability. However, with this build, I always feel like my enemy could disengage whenever they want cuz I had to wait for the conditions to tick down.

Just recently, I switched to a PU hybrid build and god I kicked so much more kitten now. With around 1800 power, 1650 toughness, 600+ condi dmg, 190 crit dmg, I feel like i can burst a lot more dog with considerable defense and survivability.

With blink and GS-4, I can easily chase down those who escape, which is something I could never get out of from PU condi build.

What is KD/KB and SR?
I run a nuker mesmer with no condi removal skills (double swords+staff), which works well against glass cannon backstabbers. However, i have worries about condi-perma-stealth thieves, who keeps dodging and stealthing. The only times I won is due to my confusion stacks (chose asura race utility (retaliation and confusion), using a torch. I want to know the basic thief mechanics like how the heck they can dodge all the time? It’s impossible to sword 2 immobilize him and shatter. Even if I do, they’d stealth away, heal up and come again.

When is the big WvW update when u can buy pinky stuff with badges? The reward is so little in WvW

Blink, Null Field; Equip the tr8 that “remove a cond when taking a heal” (sth like that)
use blink to avoid churning earth (at the end of his cast then he won’t be able to predict ur position and teleport to u)
Null field, erase all his boons, which are alot, and remove a cond from urself (also can be used to heal ur conds against cond d/d ele. )
