Its true. I WANT balanced PvP in WvW without having to grind for 12 months to equip all my characters with the stats I WANT. I also WANT WvW gear to be independent of PvE, but I guess this game doesn’t WANT that.

I actually quite like The Dreamer. I don’t think I would go for it though, because alot of people seem to have them.

Because good servers will defend nearly as often as they attack. Otherwise they will lose significant PPT.

The issue is though, its substantially more rewarding for the players running in the zerg. On JQ its the same people all the time running defense + escorts, because its what their server needs the most. Nobody wants to do it, so the dedicated and loyal server players lose out for putting their server in a winning position. If they made these tasks at least give a little bit of rewards, maybe I wouldn’t have to escort yaks 5 hours every night inbetween defending and then feel I need to go farm PvE for another 5 hours to fund all the upgrades I did.

Seems people are neglecting to realise this player could be comming the servers movements to their own server or at least a player or guild within it.

They need to bring back rewards for escort dolyaks. This is a tremendous benefit for the server. And what do you get for it? Nothing… No WXP, no XP, No Gold, No Karma, No Guild influence. I know they removed it because people were just standing around escorting yaks and not fighting, but this is rediculous. Dedicated players like myself spend hours every day doing this and get 0 rewards in an already unrewarding format. I do what I think is best for my server when I go in and that usually ends up being escorting Dolyaks because nobody else wants to do it…

Does the downed mechanic have a place in WvW?

Rez an ally in 3-4 seconds? Are you sure you’ve passed the alcohol test? Last time I tried to rez my ally IN THE MIDST OF BATTLE, it takes a good more than 3-4 seconds. And don’t even get me started on the self-heal skill.There’s a reason it has 40 seconds cast time.

Resurrecting someone requires you to not do anything at all in the meantime. If you think you can resurrect anyone without someone harassing your rump off, clearly we play in different servers.

It depends on the ally that is downed an the person reviving. There are a large amount of traits and stats related to this, but yes you can revive someone in 3-4 seconds.

Well the staff guardian build up aoe buff seems not under the 5people limit.

There is a definite limit. Not sure if its under or over 5. If it is over 5, its not by much.

Can you please bring back orbs?

The Orbs were removed because flying teleport hackers would come in and steal them and there was nothing any legit player could do about it. From the amount of hacking I see going on on a daily basis right now, I think it would basically ruin WvW like it was doing before the Orbs were removed, if not worse.

It seems to me like it has. I checked my settings and it is “Player limit Highest”and “Player detail lowest”as it has been since culling was removed. But over about the last week it feels like culling is back. Every zerg fight is “oh thats not too bad, they have about 30 and we have about 30”, then another 20 players appear in the middle of the fight, then another 20 more, then another 20 more. Similar to how it was during culling. I have noticed a reduction in skill lag during the same period, so was there a stealth patch?

1. I can see people getting turned off of WvWvW from that alone. Classes with great mobility already have an advantage and I doubt anyone finds constantly running across the map fun as it is(the dead guys in a battle who know they have no chance of getting rezzed but lay there anyway). This splitting up of forces will affect small groups as well, the server with the most people throughout the cycle still wins.

2. Finding someone to fight and actually stopping people from taking an structure is different. 10 people can take a keep in minutes if no one is doing the explosively fun and rewarding task of keep/tower sitting and now you want them to do it without waypoints or maybe even sword indicators. It would be more like playing Whack O’ Mole than it is now.

3. The lake is filled with CC spamming Krait and it doesn’t offer any tactical spot to hunker down and defend. I does however provide some kind of cover for people to move around/escape. I use it all the time and I’ve had my share of 1v1-2s in there.

4. Then you’ll have 3 groups of 20 hanging together and so forth, I doubt it’ll change anything. Most, if not all support skills work on an ally and not party basis.(or else things like Dynamic events wouldn’t work so well).


Honestly, making WvWvW persistent mode was a bad idea. Making damage trump everything else was even worse. So much time/money to upgrade structures, very little time/money to burn that kitten to the ground, especially since one goes at the pace of the players and the other doesn’t.

Agree with that last point all too much. I spent over 50 hours last week escorting yaks and spent over 50 gold upgrading strutures, only to see them get wiped in seconds from 100 man zergs in a minute whilst me and three other people are manning siege and its barely bothering them. Occasionally it payed off and the complete upgrades and building siege and defenses just purchased enough time for the ällied zerg"to react. Often it didn’t. For my WXP upgrades Ive gone 2 upgrades in Siege damage straight up because Im in the case quite often.

Yeah I think this is getting to alot of people, myself included. My first thought was to give a damage or health or some stat “debuff” if a group had over a certain amount of players in a specific area. IE If over 30 player +1% incoming damage or -1% outgoing damage, if over 35 +2% incoming damage or -2% outgoing damage. Not sure how that would work out.

Totally agree with the AoE thing. Although I think the Ele needs a nerf lol.

Lodestones with a reasonable drop rate?

Ive been doing a bit of research lately. I had known about Corrupted Lodestone farming for quite some time. So I thought Id see how I go farming lodestones for profit. I was looking at it from a WvW player perspective, how I could farm gold to fund my WvW experience. But it seems Corrupted Lodestones are the only ones that regularly drop. I went to Malchors, Orr and Mt Maelstrom and put in alot of hours. My return was zilch. So it turns out that for them to drop certain events have to be at a certain stage and must include X and the sun and the moon need to align with Jupiter and then the mobs that can drop them will spawn.

Meanwhile back at Corrupted lodestone farming Im averaging one around every 40 minutes over long periods of time with a maxed out MF kit. Along with the other T5 and T6 mats, I think this is a pretty decent farm. Not the best for sure, but a good one to do for an hour before you jump in WvW for the rest of the night. But monotony. Is there another place like this that drops these kind of valuable mats? Seems outside corrupted, the other lodestones aren’t a farmable thing unless you wanna do dungeons, which I don’t. Ive done most paths of most dungeons, but they don’t really appeal to me.

IHMO and this really is just that my opinion, I play WvW for the challenge and excitement of seeing people who love this game as much as I do show off their skills and fashion sense ;p.

If all T1 is about is who can find the best exploit and who can brown nose their way into an unspoken 2v1, and then running to the forums to be internet heroes…. I want no part of it.

I could care less what tier I was in as long as the playing field is even. There is the rub for those king of the mountain types, fighting an enemy that just doesn’t care about your ego, or what pole position you want to ride every week. For me and those I play with we would rather be last and have fun than be number one and poor winner. So if BG drops a to T2 or even T8 it matters little to us, the game is what we fight for win or lose that is all that matters.

I completely agree with you, it’s just sad to see JQ and SOR try so hard to double team BG to actually achieve something.

Funny thing is JQ has been targetting SOR because we see them as more of a threat right now. Don’t get me wrong, Id love for SOR to work towards double teaming BG, but the reality is SOR is a constant pain in the rear end and won’t stop attacking us so our only option is to constantly keep them on the defensive.

Did anyone notice any changes in visability recently? Right after they changed culling and I set my player visibility setting to biggest I could pretty much see everyone or at least their nameplates. Now it seems like they turned culling back on and Im fighting an invisible army again. My settings haven’t changed so I thought maybe someone else is noticing the same?

The whole server pride thing is a bit wierd to me. I didn’t start at JQ, but wasn’t happy with the participation on the server I played for so I went to JQ and have never looked back. If I wasn’t happy there I would leave. But I don’t expect things to change anytiem soon so I will be there working towards developing and contributing to my server in any way I can. No point hanging around flogging a dead horse. If WvW is your thing, than unless your lucky to start on a server that is into WvW than your gaming experience will be ruined if your on a server that doesn’t have much WvW participation.

So much tension in here between BG and SOR right now though. I think you guys should both be pretty happy with your efforts. Your servers have both closed the huge gap JQ had.

April Monthly Achievement too easy

The monthlys have always been pretty good. If you just play normally, you don’t have to go far out of your way to get them if your a casual. But they still challenge you to go do something different. I don’t like the dailys though, they ruin the game experience for me on a daily basis as I have to go out of the way every day to make sure I get them. I play alot, like 5hours a weeknight and have to go out of my way to do 2 or 3 tasks which can be time consuming. The dailys don’t cater for the average gamer who plays alot less and it should.

I think SoR can probably reliably take second for the foreseeable future. I’m not betting on SoR beating JQ any time soon though.

What happened to MERC+ND? The first few weeks you guys went Tier1 (this time around) they were pretty much constantly in EB. Ive only done about 10 hours in BLs and maybe 50-60 hours in EB and I can’t recall seeing a single one of them this week.

You guys are stacked but your players are more fickle and only come out when you are winning. SoR on the other hand in its history has lost more than its won. They only know how to fight, placement means nothing.

Players from all servers are pretty fickle to be fair. Same goes with JQ. JQ has in the past lost alot of active, skilled and knowledgeable players because of the way WvW is currently structured. Ive seen really good leaders quit the game because of the way you lose out for doing the things your server really needs. An example? Ive spent over 50 hours in the last 3 days escorting yaks. For that I got zero gold, a few fangs, no world XP, no XP etc etc. Not to mention a good 50gold spent on upgrades.

SM right now is 1k+ with waypoint and fortifications etc etc. It needs more supply and its being cut off because I really couldn’t stand escorting another yak. What I did was a huge benefit to JQ, but none to me personally. I see alot of other regulars contributing these types of things all the time and its that that really wins for the server. Winning in WvW isn’t all about numbers. Its also about having alot of people who are willing to put in time for no reward. Id say its one of the major aims for JQ and should be for other servers, to find ways to get the casuals involved in and regularly participating and contributing to their server.

Lol they are they are helping JQ win.. I have been in EB fighting off both JQ and EB for 45mins and neither can take valley from us… How sad is that? SoR pls just go to t2 so we can have a Decent fight thx…

Nothing sad about it. We don’t particularly want valley. We have already dealt the damage we were aiming to do by taking everything else you have on our side of the map. If SOR or JQ took Valley it would be a plus for us, but we weren’t really committed to taking it. Once the skill lag kicked in and we realised we wouldn’t be able to cast any abilities and auto-attacking was rare, we bailed as soon as we could.

AoE limit promotes the current poor zerg gameplay. Anyone who wants to argue about single target characters should check their figures. A thief can hit once for 16k or burst for 13k. A warrior can do similar. How many targets do you think a Necromancer has to hit to inflict this much damage in one hit? Im yet to see damage come close to this, even before the AoE limit.

I doubt it will happen. On the bright side, at least they are still adding a reasonable amount of content. I had lost alot of faith in Anet tbh. But this latest patch really gave me some faith back.

So Jq And Sor must be sissy’s doing for the second time a doublerape to blackgate.
And not attacking eachother HMMMM.
Jq camping at blackgate hills with sieges and sor taking the valley from us.
So this means you must be scared to attack us by your selfs.
What a bunch of sissy’s!!
Scared to been send back to tier 2 or not!!

If your talking about today, maybe you should rewind two hours and watch the replay :p BG took down Klovan and Jerrifers whilst SOR hit Wildcreek and Aldons. After that JQ had to outright defend for a long time and slowly retake our stuff, which was under constant attack from both SORs and BGs full zergs. Finally we take it back and a key reason we took it back was because our primary force went on the offensive attacking BG stuff whilst our defensive teams (including myself) upgraded setup new siege and escorted Yaks. The same thing happened on reset, with SOR and BG both taking all stuff in EB and we had to sit in our keep for hours defending and counter sieging with no supply.

My point is that 2v1s are constantly happening and things shift from one moment to the next and you just have to adapt. You might be getting 2v1d at any point so just ride it out and wait for the shift and minimize the damage done. Im completely fine with it. It happens.

I do not pay for siege. I use about 20 omegas per week just for laughs, never once have I spent money on a golem. 100 alpha donations a week isn’t unheard of. You need to give your pugs more kisses.

Yeah I get about 1 siege gollem a day doing the JP. Initially I wasn’t getting any because I was only doing EB. But it appears they drop more frequently from BL maps. So 7 Alphas for one guy a week. If your in an active guild with players who run alts than gollems aren’t so bad. The 1G people pay for them is pretty rediculous. All it costs me is some skill points, 10 mithril and 10 elder. Im saving up all my siege atm and Im going to upgrade them all to superior, then Ill start randomly donating to a WvW commander. All except for the AC, which I will save for myself as I like defending keeps.

I wonder when kaineng is going to come to t1, bored of waiting.

I really doubt it will be anytime soon. Its 120 points to SOR, 160 to BG and and 210 to JQ. 120 points gap alone with the currently stability of BG, SOR and JQ and the small gap Kaineng has with the other Tier 2 servers. It would be pretty big to see them in Tier 1 in less than 3 weeks and if things continue the way they are something would need to change like a “mini server collapse” with a server losing alot of guilds for Kain to even see Tier 1. I think Tier 1 is pretty much set in stone with not much changing in terms of opponents anytime soon. Even if Kaineng got to tier 1, I think it would be short lived. That is, as I said, unless a server experienced a dramatic change with losing big guilds or something.

Since playing part 1 and a bit of part 2 (I fixed some signs and whatnot), I kind of decided not to bother with flame and frost until the less "prelude"content came. All I can gather is that atm we are supposed to be farming some achievements, which I assume will give an event title later. But if I don’t care about achievements and titles, will there be a warning as to when the less "preludey"content comes? I don’t really want to miss out on something unique that I might enjoy, but I don’t want to farm achievements waiting for something to happen either.

I have been watching globs of ectoplasm closely for some months. My impression is that there are a large amount of people flipping them on the TP and the way that they are doing it gives the impression that they are controlling the price. And to an extent they are, at least in the short term. I know alot of people would get some enjoyment out of having some control on the trading post, albeit very little. Its the way they are flipping it that makes it look suspicious. But its not.

Fractals wasn’t all that bad until they buffed all the open world chests and introduced laurels to buy ascended IMO. That is, if you enjoyed playing fractals, it was still rewarding playing them, albeit less than other things. But now with the boss chests, the disparity is too much.

I agree, its messed up. But from what I read in these forums, my impression is that people want it that way with their outright defence of the game. It personally doesn’t appeal to me, but it appears it appeals to large audience who like grinding and "random"luck. Coming from a non-MMO gaming background, I now see why MMO’s do not appeal to me. From the way Anet sold the game I had the impression that this game was different from all of those other MMOs that I had avoided like the plague. I guess it was a smart business move to sell it the way they did.

Im sure bots are an issue, although I personally don’t see them very often. I might see one every week or two. I think the thing is, alot of us have our gear now. There isn’t much use for materials. I sell all my materials except for Tier 6 ones and even those I often don’t bother and sell them as well. Im sure there are alot of other players like me in the same boat. If we have no use for something, might as well turn it into gold and maybe that will be useful in the future.

I have everything I need for a legendary except for the precursor and dungeon tokens. I don’t know if its worth wasting my time waiting. I don’t think Anet have and intention of ever introducing scavenger hunt. I think it is in their best interests not to. Once people have their legendarys, there just isn’t much else to do.

In other games I always had this "rule"that I lived by. A pretty simple one and it was there for good reasons. It was simply “do not get involved in balance discussion”. I extend that and add it to my rules in life, “never talk about politics, religion or balance discussion”. Im sure there are many of you who have the same rule, at least Id like to think so. For some reason, in this game, I got caught up. I read the threads and got caught up in it. Why? I don’t know. I guess unlike other games, this one seems to view balance discussion as a common topic that doesn’t have a "special"forum section where it “belongs” and were I will never go.

Is this a trend in games like this? To include, to me what is the most terrible discussion of all in an open gaming forum, to be in the general sections of forum boards like WvW?
