I think this is becoming more of a common theme. I am an Oceanic. Did some PvE last night and decided to hop into WvW for an hour or two. One tag on four maps. Only a couple of players following. This is on a T1 NA server. Even six months ago before I took a break this was unheard of.
Just be aware, some of the wiki information regarding guild upgrades are not accurate. I came across this recently. According to the wiki, I just need level 4 in Art of War before I can build Guild Catapults. However, it turns out, you also need Level 2 in Architecture before you can build catas. I couldn’t find that information on the wiki or any other GW2 website. So I started randomly doing upgrades before I found which one it was.
Looks likely that changes will effect this. But I don’t think it will stop people from keyfarming. I think the techniques used will change and particularly take longer, but be worth it as there will be less supply for the key items acquired (skins, minis, permanant contracts etc) for profit without effecting demand so hopefully the extra time will equate to an equivalent profit. Just less boxes opened.
So I just returned from a 6 month break. There are a fair few things Ive needed to adjust to. But one thing that seems increasingly on the rise is the amount of 1v1s I come across where neither player can kill the other and ends in “a draw” where one or both players get tired of fighting and leave. I came across this on a very rare occasion prior to my break. But these days its every day. I’m not sure how its come to this. It seems as though even if one person makes a mistake, the other person cannot punish them enough for it and before you know it their cooldowns are off again and the fight has restarted again. Im guessing possibly from the ferocity rework? Have other solo roamers had similar experiences?
Don’t refresh siege. Don’t do upgrades. Don’t scout. Don’t get caught up in server pride. Play WvW for fun.
The first placed will always have priority. If you are having different effects, your blasts may not be centered inside of the fields, causing them to have different effects, depending on placement.
With projectile finishers, the first field the projectile encounters will apply to it. Same with leap and whirl. Additionally, certain whirl finishers will apply the combo to all of their attacks even after the field has disappeared.
Go test that with a static field and Symbol of swiftness. You will get retal 99% of the time regardless of which field was put down first.
I believe the correct answer is fields have a prioritization over which was placed first/second, but some fields take prioritization over others regardless of whether they were placed first or second. Also, there are some issues regarding registration with combo field and finisher that cause inconsistencies.
Ive done around 25-30 runs in the last week. Im new to farming it. From those runs I got 9 scraps and one whole ticket. Also made about 50g from minis that dropped. Feels like 1 ticket every 3-5 is about right though.
I took the last 6 months off myself. Gotta say yeah, the current gold price on alot of things is very intimidating now. Although I have 4 legendaries account bound myself. My previous legendaries just came from playing the game.
For all my legendaries I purchased the precursors. I did have a precursor drop, but I crafted it and sold the legendary (quip). Most of my startup gold came from grinding whatever was considered the most beneficial at the time (boss chains, dungeons etc).
Before I quit 6 months back, I completely stripped my account of anything that was not account bound. I converted everything to gold and sent it all to my guild leader at the time. All I had when I returned was 8 characters with no armor or weapons, with the exception of my thief who I had a shortbow. I had some leftover dungeons tokens I forgot to transfer to gold and purchased a couple of pieces of dungeon armor. Its been two weeks now and Im back up to 200g in my account and a few hundred gold worth of materials etc. Somewhat starting from scratch, you can see it doesn’t take long to get on top of a precursor.
I play GW2 most nights. On an average night in the last two weeks, my time has been broken up approximately like this:
- 1 hour dungeon runs
- 1 hour BLK farm (storyline farming)
- 1 hour WvW
- Open world farming (pick a spot you think is good and farm the area)
- TP flipping
I find I don’t have tolerance to do any of these for a long time anymore. So by breaking up what I am doing regularly, it breaks up the monotony.
In your boots, Id definitely craft the legendary and sell it. Don’t just sell the precursor.
I can see a major issue that devs have to deal with. I can go in for several hours looting 5g+ an hour in WvW. Then I can go in and play for several hours straight and actually lose gold. Loot in WvW is designed to reward selfish players and it is very inconsistent to a point where it is not rewarding at all.
Necros strongest 1v1 class.
Is the BLK reward in area completion from a rework? I have 3 chars with 100% world completion, 5 with around 80%. I only recall getting maybe 5 BLKs from area completion. Could be an interesting avenue to farm area completion though. The material rewards are quite decent. When I was working on area completion to get 100% I believe I was able to get 2-3 areas each night.
Your better off not reselling your piles of dust and using them for promotion. Technically, you can earn gold from the salvage of ectos if you then promote other materials with the salvaged dust.
When the MF rework patch first came out, it was cheaper to craft rares > salvage for globs > salvage for dust > promote lodestones. Now there are alot of other materials you can promote other than lodestones as well that will provide profit. But, without having looked much into it, it seems cheaper to either buy rares or globs from the TP rather than craft them. Back when the MF rework came back you could craft a number of tailor (and leatherworker I think) rares for around 19-20 silver worth of materials where the cheaper rares could be purchased for 25-28 silver (saving you around 6-9 Silver for every rare (before the 90% glob salvage rate).
1580 ranks. 2 weapons chests. Sadly shortly after my second chest my account was hacked and my account restored to right before I got the second chest lol. Probably had about 10 ascended rings. Probably unlucky in terms of ascended drops, but I got a precursor from WvW so I can’t complain.
Pretty sure the OP is just baiting.
I quit the game 6 months ago and came back. I couldn’t handle the frustration of seeing where GW2 was headed after the potential it showed at release and the direction development (or lack thereof) has taken. I think alot of others have done the same for the same reasons. The game is still very active and most of those who are here have come to accept the games shortfalls. I’m trying to do the same. It is still a good game, just nothing on what it could have been. I think the game still has a good 2-3 years left in it tbh. How long it does last IMO, is in the hands of the players and the communities they build upon.
Id empty my inventory after every fight.
I just realised there is no way this would happen. The reason is because of the huge amount of money Anet are making from transfers would be gone.
I used to be pretty hardcore when it came to server pride. In season 1 I hardly had any sleep for the entire season and often spent upwards of 8 hours a day scouting. And then theres all the upgrades and repairs and organizational tasks that nobody wants to do and the hundreds in gold and siege you donate to commanders. At the end of the day, its just not worth. Guild pride is, but investing in server pride is setting yourself up for problems.
Was all your gear exotic? Unfortunately people sometimes run around in rare backpieces and trinkets. How much armor do you have? Do you have a decent rune set and not the random stuff you get in karma gear before the recent change?(I think the runes were assorted) Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
Most people run 3 runes (monk, water and another IIRC). ALthough I am adamantly opposed to it and reccomend soldiers.
So they are hitting 11c at present. Will this price continue to stay low? Or will it go back up? Isn’t it only low at present because foxfire is required for living story backpiece? What will happen when people stop farming foxfire for the backpiece?
I played for one of the top guilds in WvW for a while. But they did non-english speaking raids. And I only speak english. Communication is important. Skill is still important.
IMO the average skill level of players in WvW has actually dropped in the last 6-12 months.
If you ever role with a top guild, if there are any left, you will see the difference. Wiping 80 with 30 is easy.
But stats do make a difference. So does composition.
If your lacking in any of those areas, that is, composition, stats, communication and skill you are far from running optimally. A few weak players in an otherwise good guild can lose you a fight.
I recently came back to the game. AFAIK there are no elite guilds left that have a “complete” expectations. But if there are they would be wiping map blobs over and over again.
I have 300% magic find. Im about 6% short of the max (I think). I rushed the 295% when the magic find rework came in by mass purchases on the TP of blues, greens and globs and had it about two weeks in. Prior to the rework I had a warrior running around 250% MF for spot farming (IE lodestone farming etc). I don’t really notice the difference to be honest. I think overall I don’t really feel the difference since alot of the major loot in the game these days is from chests, which are not effected by Magic Find.
So I’m new to this. Iv’e known of it but never really tried it for myself until this weekend. I had watched a tonne of video guides and can do a run in 20minutes flat for 1 key and it was easy to get it to this level. So I spent about 7 hours to get 14 keys. The maths on what I got just doesn’t add up. All I got was a bunch of boosters, booster conversion dust things, a few dyes/dye packs and 3 black lion salvage tickets scraps. So I have to do another ~14 hours of farming to just get one BL ticket for around 70g.
My first thought is, I am losing alot of gold doing this. Unless you win the lottery and get a permanant contract your pretty much not going to match any of the most effective farming methods. But at least its something a bit different to break up the monotony. But now they are talking about nerfing this even more? Am I doing something wrong?
Those guild rankings are pertaining to GvG. If you were to do an overall guild rating it would be very different.
People keep saying this, but provide no examples of guilds. Please give us your personal ranking of “proper” WvW guilds.
About the only guild I can think of that is notorious for holing up in a keep and defending it is MEND on IoJ. But even they have started venturing out because people realized that they can take the entire rest of the map if they let MEND just hang out in Hills by themselves.
Heres some of the guilds Id probably rate in a overall top 20s in WvW:
Onslaught, Icoa, Get of Fenris, Strike Force, Shadow Gypsies, WvW, KnT, CERN, Night Shift, Little Paws, ENMA. Most of those would most certainly make the list. Then you have guilds like TW, CHOO and HIRE who would probably still make the list but have a question mark on them at present, so to speak. And there are guilds like ATM which is all but disbanded but certainly would have been a top 20 and probably a top 5. Theres MERC who are only a shadow of their former self after splitting in a server transfer whom could have scraped in the top 20 at its peak. Or SONG who, I don’t know where they are but they were right up there, I think they went to EU. Its hard for me to speak of guilds below Tier 2. But then how good can they be if they can’t even push there servers that high. Im probably missing a few obvious ones as well. But NS is probably the only one on the GvG list that would make the overall WvW list and only just.
Nice writeup Morrolan. Pretty much spot on what I wanted to say but didn’t have the patience to do
The results are in, before I even knew there was a poll. Whats the point of hosting all these polls if nobody knows about them? ^^
It would have been worth it if it had of been integrated into the game 12 months ago. Now it just doesn’t make sense. That said, there are alot of people who enjoy it, so good for them. But was it worth it? Nope. Its a completely different game mode that took away from WvW. It was supposed to be an addition to WvW. But its not associated with WvW in any way other than a chance to get a supply drop every 4 hours. As far as I’m concerned, its as much related to WvW as sPvP or PvE is.
Haha insane coverage. You don’t really have any idea what happening in EU. We can barely fill eb and one borderland in prime time. Night we probably have some 40 player zerg that handle 4 maps alone.
I played on SFR for a few months and can verify that. Its getting to a point where it seems like T1 NA servers have better EU coverage than EU servers do.
Those guild rankings are pertaining to GvG. If you were to do an overall guild rating it would be very different.
I think people are also thinking March because of ESO’s release. That is a big motivator for Anet to add these kinds of things to the game that players have wanted pretty much since the game was released. To reinvigorate interest and avoid players leaving the game permanantly and moving to a competitor like ESO.
Has Anet forgotten about this? Have they decided not to do it? Here is the original announcement:
They put exotic gear you could purchase for badges + gold into WvW some time ago. Not sure why they wouldn’t do it with ascended now.
I think the issue is the game is very dumbed down for casual players and the game format is structured in a way that allows bad players to walk away feeling like they are good at what they do by blobbing. Considering how terrible the majority of the WvW players are, I guess Anet is doing the right thing to have the game design structured for the casual audience. And lets face it. The game is on its last legs. Its not going to get any better from here.
They should give everyone, one time per year, 5 free ticket scraps.
That way people will be enticed to gamble on keys to get the last remaining 5.
They should remove Black lion chests from the game. They provide a method in which children can use real money to gamble. Its no different from a drug dealer going into a school and selling drugs to children. It is unethical for such a large company as Anet to provide such options when they are completely aware a vast portion of their consumers are children.
Yes, BG has decent coverage. We do not have 24/7 . Almost always have Outnumbered when I am playing.
Almost Always? What timezone is that?
A BG player commenting on being outnumbered -.-
Having played on BG in pretty much every timezone for the last couple of weeks, I assure you its every timezone. Even in NA outnumbered buff is popping. We were also getting it on as much as 3 maps the week SOR “didn’t show up” (meaning SOR had more on the map than us). This is more a reflection of the irregularities at present. But also for other reasons. BGs coverage isn’t as good as it used to be.
No server in NA has 24/7 coverage. Both BG and JQ are currently very balanced in coverage. TC is also very close in coverage with a few more SOR guilds currently transferring there. It would take a huge amount of overtime from a large portion of any of these servers to have 24/7 coverage. But everyone is so tired and I don’t think its possible. Anet needs to drop that map cap so we can all get some sleep occasionally.
Reduce the map cap. Why not? We have EoTM, the solution to queue problems now.
Employed casuals with more bucks than time pay the bills. Hardcores tend to be ftp leeches.
I doubt it. I’m a hardcore. For the last several months I made a commitment to the game where I would buy a minimum of $50 worth of gems a fortnight. Often that was $100 and quite a few times I purchased $200. The thing is I am a hardcore PvPer. But I don’t have the time to grind all this PvE content before I can begin to play as a hardcore PvP player does.
But then something changed for me towards the end of January this year. The realization dawned on me. All of this money I’m investing just is not worth it. All of my money is theoretically being invested in developing living story garbage that does not appeal to me at all. Not when the one game mode I play does not get the attention it should be getting. So now I speak with my actions. Ive stopped putting money into the game. Account bound WXP will be the straw that breaks the camels back, so to speak. And if it doesn’t come very soon I’m gone. By soon I mean well before next season begins. Lesson learned. Anet does not cater nor care about its WvW community. And when I leave I will not buy another product from any company associated with this game ever again.
In WvW they are one of the top 3 classes that standout above all the other classes. The other two are obviously guardian and warrior. For other game modes I can’t really comment because I really don’t play alot of sPvP or PvE.
There are quite a few guilds on this list that seem to have dropped WvW entirely in preference for EoTM. Considering its very disconnected from WvW and really contributes nothing to the the WvW game mode itself outside of a possible supply drop every four hours, I’m not sure I would characterize some of these guilds as “WvW guilds”.
Yeah I will want blasting staff. Thanks will give that a whirl
So last night I got around running a full zerker build in WvW. I was gobsmacked at how much I could get away with whilst dropping 7.5k meteors. I just put 30 fire, 30 Air and 10 in arcana. But what is the highest DPS build possible for a staff ele if I’m will to completely ignore any survivability whatsoever?
I’m personally loving the new addition of TC to T1. They seem to always come out and fight rain, hail or shine. Unlike SOR in so many ways.
so angry…. wow. get over sor already.
I’m not really angry. I just feel like T1 is better than it has ever been since TC replaced SOR. And the reason why it feels better is because of the attitude that TC has brought with them as a community.
Why anybody even expected acc bound wxp?
They never said when will they release it and almost everybody knows that it wont be up until March18th
Because of the clock that is going tic toc!
There was no account bound WXP in the patch notes.
Incinerator and kraitkin.
Going to be as complex as the last LS event?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

So I had no idea what to do last living story and it was overly time consuming and I mostly WvW. I did the marrionette event and then found I had to go to some lair which I had to find out where it was from dulfy. When I got there I had to collect x amount of various things Ive never seen before and then somehow convert them with some other things Ive never seen before and then use them to unlock the lair. Or at least thats what I think I had to do. And I CBF going and reading another intricate guide on how to convert all these things I had. At that stage I gave up and went back to playing the game rather than spending hours reading guides and figuring out what I was supposed to do next. Is this LS going to require reading guides on what I am supposed to do or can I just go through it fluently?
Wait until you have that happen every minute of every day for two weeks straight on all 4 maps whilst you continue throwing yourself into inevitable death the entire time. Its happened twice in T1 NA that I can think of and its real rough.
