No self-respecting dev would go to JQ!
On a serious note, yeah those tags can be used tactically. If I see one guaranteed I am going for it. It could be a positive thing though. It will certainly mean they have to stack on the commander at all times or there are going to be people eager to punish them :p
The problem is your posting “a solution” to something that the majority of players and Anet do not think is “a problem that needs to be resolved”.
You think so? Because I don’t think I’ve ever looked at these forums without seeing several threads complaining about stale matchups, population imbalance and how WvW is dying.
I can’t count how many times that I’ve seen the same “merge the servers” thread. This offers a solution to what they are looking for in those threads, while at the same time offering an increased chance of fighting more servers, rather than stuffing everyone into 6 mega blob servers.
I see the same thing. Just like every other game: Vocal forum posters do not equate to a majority of players. Things will never change. Just stop trying to suggest how the game should be and see and play it as it is. Anet is set in stone on this. Your wasting your energy. I realised this 1.5-2 years ago, but some seem to be taking their time figuring it out.
We’re all welcome to play in different ways. The OP has has an opinion, and s/he shared it here, which is just fine. If you disagree, that’s just fine too, but please do so respectfully, without insults or arguments. If you have a point to make, you can make it without resorting to rudeness, right?
Thanks.
This is a wierd statement I have seen alot lately from Anet devs and others: “We’re all welcome to play in different ways”, sometimes worded slightly differently with the same sentiment. But it’s certainly a wierd statement. It says to me I can play the game however I want. Sounds good right? So if I want to go into sPvP with a perma-evasion hack I’m welcome to do so. Or if I want to go into WvW and siege troll commanders and perma supply drain keeps I am welcome to do so. Or if I want to go into PvE and exploit a bugged event and farm as much linen scrap as I want I am welcome to do so.
OFC its obvious right. The things I listed above are against some rules. Probably the TOS. But they may not be (Im not entirely sure tbh). I mean I have farmed coiled watch for a few hours straight by failing the even with some 100 other players. So for those who say your not playing the game the way it was intended, your right. So it looks pretty clear to me that the game was intentionally design to provide players with the ability to sell dungeon paths. It just happened to be the case that you could.
Just to point out. I am not really opposed to dungeon selling. I myself payed for some Arah paths to complete my achievements after being pug broken a few times. But if this is why dungeon paths selling is so successful, like coiled watch or the linen scrap farming event or the giant event in Orr, shouldnt it be reworked just like these event have been or will be?
Well, thanks to anet, s/d is now nerfed, so what else am I supposed to do? Thanks for pushing me to d/p p/x SA runaway stuff!
Yeah its stupid that they nerfed sword. Its should be a core with all the condi-bunkers getting around. But nope.
The problem is your posting “a solution” to something that the majority of players and Anet do not think is “a problem that needs to be resolved”.
The dailies make sense because laurels.
I pretty much only jump on my thief this days when I don’t care about losing fights or I want to avoid all fights and karma train yaks or scout a zerg/guild. They are pretty garbage these days. Especially with the way condi bunker and “2000 range hundred blades rangers” are getting around.
I hate the farmers you talk about in WvW. There always the ones that rallybot and manage to lose you fights (and what would have been easy bags). They take up map queues denying players who legitimately want to play WvW rather than farm AP. They don’t want to learn how to play the game properly, they are just looking for the easy way, which effects my gameplay negatively. If it didn’t effect my gameplay negatively, I wouldn’t care. But it does in many ways, so I don’t like that they do that.
I probably would have done the same thing. There are a few issues with it. At this stage its not worth it but if I had of known at launch what I know now I probably would have had 2-3 accounts.
1. Blackgate 2. Jade Quarry 3. Sea of Sorrows
They are your best 3 picks in order for sure. But it will be hard to get onto BG or JQ so you might need to settle for SOS. SOS was one of the original “official Oceanic servers”. They did lose some numbers over a year back when there was a fair shift in the balance of powers where they were the top WvW server and collapsed and JQ took top spot. But they are still very strong and from what I have seen have some decent guilds for both WvW and PvE.
Its unlikely. The community has just become stronger and stronger. No one wants to leave. Alot want to get on. Even non-WvW players (pve) want to be on the server because its a good active place for PvErs.
Ive only played about 2-3 hours of WvW since the patch and have 2. Both from tower keep lords. I suspect magic find will give you a better chance of having one drop. I don’t have the collectable spoon box yet, so you don’t need it to unlock the possibility of having a spoon drop.
Its not there for me. I first recall seeing it missing on a low level character (10-15ish). But I returned on the character at level 70 and they are still missing, which debunked my theory that you had to be a certain level before you see those nodes.
EDIT: My next theory is that it is characters created after the patch that can’t see them as my other characters can see them, just not my character that was created after the patch.
How would that help anyone?
Obviously the hacker knew your account and email password, otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to get into your account, which means that you either used the same password or that you had a keylogger on your PC.
If you used the same password for both your email and your game account chances are high that you would have used the same password for the TP aswell. If you had a keylogger on your PC that security measure wouldn’t help you at all because the logger also logged the TP/Bank/.. password.
I was hacked last year. I had up-to-date antivirus and anti-malware and did full scans before bed at night and also did a scan immediately after getting hacked. The closest I have downloaded to a program even remotely related to GW2 is Teamspeak. My accounts for both my email and my game account are unique. They are very secure. Even if there was a keylogger, I don’t type my password… I wrote a script to write it for me. I have a secure router. When I was hacked there was an error coming up in GW2 saying something along the lines of “cannot connect remotely to game”. I was knocked out of the game and at the same time, my internet service went down for a few hours. When my internet came back up (I was sitting there waiting as it was a Saturday and I had no intention of anything other than playing GW2), I logged into my account to find 8 naked characters and everything on the account completely stripped. There was a email notification saying that someone from an IP located in China had accessed my account. I had every angle covered and still lost everything, at least, until Anet restored it all.
Oh and I also had email verification so AFAIK they got access to my email account as well.

It could be a marketing strategy to promote regular investment in gems.
Probably a combination of factors. I know some people are going through and creating a new character at the moment to experience the new levelling system, myself included. That has equated to me buy a few thousand silk in the last week in preparation for ascended armor as well as general crafting expenses and building armor every X level to match my characters current level.
If your looking at actually being good at WvW, don’t bother with website guides. Join a guild and start learning from them. Most of the public guides you can pick up are pretty bad and don’t go to the extent that some guilds go to in developing builds.
Stop being a PUG and join a guild that raids in your timezone.
Rangers are stupidly broken in WvW atm. All good though. Ill just jump on the ranger bandwagon.
Ahk thanks guys.
Wasn’t paying much attention. I had a few minis in there. Around 70 in total, but about 50 of them were the balthazar one from orrian boxes. I went into my character panel think they were in there, but all minis are locked in there. Did we lose all the mini progress we had after the patch? Or am I missing something? I thought the minis we owned already would have been auto-unlocked. But even the balthazar mini is locked.
Anet have said they never intended for WvW to be balanced and have no intention of it ever being balanced.
Added blinds, immobolizes and stuns make it alot harder to kill a yak with human defenders.
I’m missing something here… You only have to unlock a few of the top traits, right?
You have to unlock every single trait individually, except for Minor traits which still function the same as before.
But you don’t have to unlock all of them, just the ones you want to use. You can’t honestly say that you’ve used all the traits in all the trait lines.
I have and I do. I regularly experiment with different traits. I have setups that I prefer depending on whether I am doing WvW, dungeons, open world or bosses. Each build varies quite alot. Im always looking to run optimally. Its kind of wierd. From my knowledge, Anet recently removed the cost gate on unlocking traits. Then they go and add what would equate to months of grinding for an average player just to unlock traits. It doesn’t bother me much as a vet who has experimented with each and knows what is optimal for each task. But if your a new player your not going to know what is what until you have tried it.
I don’t understand why some of you elitist WvW players are being so rude to PvE players.
If anything, WvW needs players, especially for lower tier servers. The ironic part though, is that some of you are happy that PvE players get in and leave quickly, which just adds to the problem of queues.
There should be incentive for them to actually participate in WvW activities. Why wouldn’t you want that to happen? Stop being elitist jerks.
Because on alot of servers, WvW doesn’t need PvE players. It needs Queues to be free from PvE players who are there to farm achievements and lose points for their server rather than play WvW.
Let us know if you hit an XP bug around level 28-30, where a kill is like 8xp and you need 170k xp per level. Not sure if it was dealt with in fixes. First time I felt overwhelmed. Fortunately, it is apparently a bug. Next time I got overwhelmed was when I realised I had to unlock every single trait by doing a different task for each one, or alternatively paying a hundred odd gold to unlock them up front.
As a veteran starting from complete scratch, starting out in this game is extremely intimidating. It is so much harder to level now. It is ALOT more costly. And everything that was once free, is now a cash sink. If I wasn’t a veteran of the game, I probably would give up as a new player.
Do what I did. Delete all your characters. Vendor anything non-account bound. Delete anything account bound. Send your gold to a WvW commander. Quit the game. Start playing it again. There will be endless things for you to do. Just getting a character to 80 with ascended will take you a very long time. Everything got alot harder.
An alternative might be to get a character to linen specific level. Then open all loot bags that are level specific on that character instead of the one you acquired the bag from. For instance, there is a bag you get for completing parts of the personal story. It gives materials and armor/weapons. Save them in your bank and open them on a char that is the same level as that which linen drops and you should get a fair bit from it. Not sure its worth it though.
Stealthing off walls was a bug that was fixed previously and broken multiple times over the last two years. Give it another patch or two and you will probably be able to do it again.
IMHO Anet’s stand is perma stealth is here and its here to stay so i’d suggest a large increase in the duration of the reveal debuff. If the thief is really good he can overcome anything to make his stealth build work but by increasing the duration you raise the risks if or when the thief makes mistakes.
Sounds good to me. A larger uptime on +200 power when revealed.
Hi, tier 8! Congratulations! You’re yet again complaining about “stacked servers” while trying to convince people to transfer to yours! Good job on the double-thought arms race.
Excluded middle argument. There is a huge amount of space between what we have now and a “stacked server” with queue problems.
I don’t want everyone to stack on Eredon Terrace. I don’t want the T1 play style. Really I don’t. I would have transferred already if I did. Personally, I think the massive zerging in the megaservers in PvE are enough of a disaster because of the high population caps. The Frozen Maw was more fun with 12 people than the lag-inducing huge zergs that are now common on the megaservers.
But that doesn’t mean we couldn’t use some more WvW players than we have, so if you are an individual or smaller guild looking for a smaller scale of play where everyone can matter and make a difference, where your skills generally work when you activate them, and where queues are almost non-existent, then give Eredon Terrace a look.
Don’t stack on them, stack on us, because stacking is ruining the game!
No, don’t stack on us, either, as far as I’m concerned (I can only speak for myself). Spread out more. Not the same thing.
It’s so much fun down here just as it is. Join us, and make our server more like yours!
Again, excluded middle argument. I don’t want our server to be more like T1. If I wanted the T1 experience, I would have transferred by now (I’ve been asked to go by a small guild I belong to that did eventually wind up in T1). But we could use some more people to help equalize our population a bit with the other servers we typically play against and to help with our coverage problems. Not the same thing as “stacking”.
I played on ET for a while for the experience your talking about. The problem is, it got boring. I wanted the whole experience. And T1 offers everything lower tier servers have and alot more. The only way your going to get any measurable amount of people to your server to help with coverage is if Anet give significant incentives to moving to a lower tier, which is highly unlikely considering their previous direction.
What is it about GW2 that attracts the biggest % of whiners to the game.
it’s exceedingly hard to get XP once you hit mid levels (30+). I am glad that Anet is making the move away from grinding out the same farming over and over in low level areas like Queensdale giving incentives to get area/world completion and completing your personal story. But to hit level 30 and needing over 170,000 XP for the next level and your main source of XP is 20xp for a kill, 100-200 xp for a heart or 2xp for gathering is a bit extreme. Overall I love the changes. But I think new players in particular are going to turn away from the game once they hit mid levels. Progression just feels like it’s going to take an eternity.
Achievements are spot on. Let the PvE/achievement hunters come in and get what they want and leave so that the real WvW players who want to be there playing WvW rather than chasing carrots can do so.
I take the hour or so and heart quest my way.
Of course you’ll lose money crafting to level 10.
And Like Na said, opening 6 chests will show you nothing.
I’ve only done 5 keys since the update, but I feel like I’m getting better stuff.
But then again, I like opening dyes, of which, I’ve gotten 4 unidents and a Dye pack. :]
A level up tome, and a scrap.
This sounds substantially worse than I was getting before. Considering scrap drop rates pre-patch were 1:3-5. With spending an hour levelling, you could have gotten 3 levels easy just walking around farming mobs on your main which equates to more gold. The dye packs that are in chests are garbage at present and give you 1 dye, most of which sell for only a couple of silver. And whilst the 1.2g you get from 5 (unidentified) x 1 hour key runs might sound good, its really bad when you could be farming alot more gold doing something/almost anything else.
5 and 6 key runs are a terrible sample size, I agree. But I just get this feeling that despite Anet saying they have increased the drop rates on some of the more profitable things in chests and some other players giving some questionable stats (on reddit), I think drop rates or at least what you get from the chests are worse now and stack on top of that the extra time consumption Im think key farming might actually be dead.
Someone please prove me wrong though. I was enjoying some key farming on the side of doing other things

Warrior is the best first class hands down. Anet originally made them and stated that they were intended as such. Guardian is OP and top of the classes at most things, making it a reasonable first choice, but Warrior is the best choice for a new player.
i don’t remember anet saying season 3 will follow swiss style tournament
They did. And to answer the OP, yes, I believe the overall winners will be decided in the first week.
Does anybody else have a problem where their finisher changes back to the default one?
Are you changing chars? I thought I had that problem, then realised I had to set each chars default finishers.
For the inability to stomp, I believe this is carrying over to other things. Yesterday I was completing my dailies when I came across the chest with the scritt burgler. I killed him and returned to pick up the loot he drops on the way and could not interact with any of the loot bags. I believe this is an issue that is related to not being able to stomp. There was another player nearbye and he had the same issue. He asked me, “can you pick these loot bags up”. I replied “No, must be a bug”. He replied back, “nah, its a ‘feature’”.
Show us who the real beasts in this game are! Who has the most yaks slapped? I am only just coming up to 10k which I should reach this week. Wondering who has the most. Anyone made 50k or 100K?
Get a class that can tag alot of characters (IE Necro W/Staff, Guardian W/Staff). Find a server that runs with and against large blobs. Try to play in EB or EoTM as much as possible. It helps if your in a guild in the long run. If you are a solo player following the pug commander there is going to be downtime from time to time whereas your guild can always run. Solo/small scale roaming is bad for ultimate dominator title. I only have 80k kills, but there are people who have ultimate dominator who have played less hours than me, but because I am predominantly a solo roamer and they blob they already have title due to tags on blobs.
Oand, its best if there is a balanced timezone. Its good if you have a blob, but bad if they don’t and vice versa. If its say, JQ sea timezone you won’t have as many opponents. But if its say NA timezone then T1 NA is a good place to be as its farily even in terms of numbers on average.

Im really quite surprised about how many people don’t like the levelling changes. I started a new char after the patch and the levelling experience for me has been extremely positive. Ive actually enjoyed the levelling process alot more and considering doing it as a regular thing along with completing multiple personal stories in the process. Id be even more excited about it if levelling and particularly the personal story were a bit more profitable/rewarding however.
I remember when I first started playing this game. The thing that really impressed me was the personal story. I would love if a major part of my gameplay with reliving that personal story. But everytime I log in I ask myself, do I want to earn 20 silver an hour doing something I enjoy, or 15 gold an hour grinding the same content I find boring. Unfortunately, I opt for the gold more often.
Using your experience scrolls would be a waste. You can convert them for 50-60 silver. Do you really want to invest 5-6 gold to level to 10 every single key run?
How are you finding the drop rates? I did 6 runs last night using the crafting/refining to level 10. Only a small sample size, but Im several gold out of pocket. My understanding was tickets/scraps and various other profitable items had a buffed drop rate. But my average from my 6 keys was 1. crafting booster, 2. skill point (tome/scroll) and 3. One dye (not even unidentified).
Going by that, you would be taking a massive loss investing in keys by any means. But did I just have terrible luck? I never had a streak like that pre-patch from around 60 runs. Have chest really been buffed or nerfed?
There is a champion golem in Mount Maelstrom (not the Mark2). Its just north of mount maelstrom, on the plateau where the laser firing baselisk are. It seems to spawn in the camp up there. Not sure on what events cause it to spawn.
More power to blobbing and zerging and less tactics. I don’t really care though.
Have had the problem for a long time. Try stomping in a different location. What I have found is that most of the time its because the player appears in one spot in down state but is actually considered by the server in downstate in a different spot. You can activate the stomp, but you cannot finish because the player is somewhere else.
There was a pretty big price spike up to the patch. But the drop rate seems pretty significant. Glad I didn’t speculate investing in the weapons in bulk or anything. I suspect the price will go down. But its too early too tell. I think its too early to tell because a bulk of people aren’t actively working on the collection. But something that will come with time. So basically, I think there will be a price decrease for a fair amount of time followed by a progressive increase over a long time. Thats my uneducated guess anyways.
Couple of questions from a returning vet:
So I have read many players boasting about making 18g per hour farming drytop. But, I have spent about 8-10 hours there now exploring and farming. But I doubt Id be hitting 4g an hour. Even done alot of event farming during sandstorms which seems to be the most beneficial time to farm. Has this region been nerfed and it was 18g per hour when it first opened up?
Ive just noticed these sPVP tracks. I am particularly interested in the region and dungeon tracks. My impression is you have to get levels in sPvP and it unlocks the tracks that you then pursue? But there doesn’t seem to be alot of information on how it works. Going to youtube and search and all I can find is people opening the chests. The wiki is very unclear IE it says to unlock a dungeon track just do Story Mode and no other information. How do you start and complete the region and dungeon tracks?
