Id say more like Sonic the Hedgehog 3D meets Mario Cart.
The APs are too low and some of them are not achievable in under 10 years. I think its deplorable that they have integrated this new rewards system without reviewing the time taken to do these rewards. This goes for a few other things also, like Giant slayer. Best you can get is 2 giants every 6 minutes doing the exact same mission over and over again. Its the only slayer achievement I don’t have and I refuse to do it. I have 10/100 because I wanted the experience killing giants, but that is just ridiculous. I think the AP rework is kind of like the precursor scavenger hunt. They have said they are going to do it, but its all BS and it will never happen.
Ive been running thief a bit lately. I have to say Im really feeling forced into playing the flavour of the month glass cannon DP build. Outside of this build it feels really sub standard to all of my other classes. Hopefully we will see some buffs to some other stuff so I can do something other than BS another glasscannon, blind them, heartseeker into stealth and BS them again. Im a bit concerned they nerfed the range on SB though. It feels like a needed weaponset in medium-large scale battles.
It does have to do with WvW. Its world vs world PvP, a PvP zone. Its rewards are aimed for WvW, giving badges and siege.
The people who ask for the OS to be restyled to a PvPless zone dont seem to understand this isnt the same as asking for an AC nerf. You are asking ANet to take away one of the already limited PvP zones from the PvP players and giving it to the PvE players.
How would you respond if WvW players constantly flooded the dungeon forum asking for a dungeon to be restyled as aPvP zone, denying you PvE play in that dungeon.
Yes, you can PvP in there and get WvW achievements, but that’s it. It’s completely separated in everything else, even mapwise, and it’s hardly related to what WvW’s mainly about: taking over camps, towers, keeps and castles from other servers and hold them to get points.
What do you use to get those towers, keeps and castles? What do you get for completing the jumping puzzle?
I’ll be interested to see how this goes. I currently have around 9k badges and around 400 siege weapons from reward chests and random drops. I have a hard time believing they would sell. I use siege weapons myself, but I acquiring quicker than I can use them. As for commanders, guilds tend to fund these to their commander. I can’t really see guild members goingkittencommander I’m not going to give you my siege anymore. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if it is profitable though. The 9k in badges could buy me anywhere between 90 and1500 depending on which siege I use and there are players getting around with tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of badges.
I know it’s a unspoken rule to not grief the WvW jump puzzles. For as long as I’ve been playing I’ve ran through them with rival shards and even helped them get around and vice versa has been done for me. But what do we do when a server has guilds that do nothing but grief the WvW JPs? I play on Devonas rest and this run through Sorrows Furnace has done nothing but grief the Oblivion Sanctum and several guilds are the culprits. Now I’ve heard nothing but bad things about this server that make me think it’s filled with nothing but trolls. What should we do then when dealing with those that break this unspoken rule? I say we retaliate till the greifer guilds disband. Why shouldn’t we fight back?
I don’t agree that it was an unspoken rule at all. As a rule I always attacked opposing servers players to deny them siege that they could end up using against us. But now things are a bit different. Siege is easier to get with levelling. So now I stay out of the JP.
Ive always felt they dropped the ball here. They should have had a “locker system”, with tabs where you could have separate builds and just click a tab to change to that build. Even if they only gave you one tab to start, there are plenty of people out there I’m sure, myself included, who would happily pay 1k gems for a feature like this. Basically it would be the same as what they already have with armor and town clothes tab. And it could be payed for just like adding extra bank slots. But nope. They don’t want my money.
Necros are one of the better for tagging. Cast the marks at their feet though or it may only tag one. CD build for a necro will be more than enough to get enough damage to get a kill for each tag your mark or well does.
Also, I don’t mind a frontline hammer warrior. Ground slam is a pretty big AoE and if you use healing surge you can use it twice in succession.
We already have 3 hour queues on reset. Reducing the number allowed on the maps would make the game even more unplayable because you physically could not play unless you are unemployed or have massive amounts of time to waste sitting in queue.
Ok, seriously? What server are you playing on with 3 hour queues?! You know the queue system still borked right? We so rarely see queues these days due to fewer people playing WvW for a myriad of reasons (lag and population imbalance likly being high on the list there) that ANET never did figure out why it wasn’t working properly. I play on JQ and we can still field some decent numbers at times but nothing close to anything more than 30 minute queues. If your queue is longer than 15 minutes you should really try again. Are there really servers left out there where queues longer than that are common? Admittedly, I am very ignorant about what is going on over the EU side of things so maybe longer queues are a thing over there.
From reading way too many of these threads, it appears the skill lag getting worse lately issue is not a tier 1 only problem but those of us who play in the more WvW stacked servers have it more often than others so logic seems to dictate that our over stacked servers are making the game unplayable for us which seems to suggest if we want to play the game without skill lag we would start transferring down to less populated servers and spreading ourselves back out. I hope ANET is on board and trying to find a way to incentivize the un-stacking of our WvW populations before they lower the map population caps.
Wouldn’t it be cool to see where todays worlds would stand in the ranking and population if we were all magically returned the server we started out on and given one free world transfer to get back together with newly made friends and guilds before being locked into a much more strict world transfer system that only lets you move down and never up? /ponder
SOR still has 1.5hour queues on weekends (at least the did around 3 weeks ago when I played with them). BG had a 30 minute queue on two maps last night during off peak hours (Oceanic-Sea) and ~3 maps queued during prime. Having played on around 10 servers now, Id say the queues don’t really reflect the population accurately though. Some servers have guilds that have larger numbers and coverage than entire servers. But if they can’t queue onto the winning map / karma train map then they don’t join. Whereas, on some of the lower population servers, players put more time into WvW and will fight to do what they can under any circumstances (this goes for servers like ET and FC). Once you get a few rankings above players will either zerg and will only fight with significantly superior numbers or run away.
What I would love to see is some maps with lower population cap. Right now Im jumping tiers/servers because sometimes I just want to brainless zerg and to do that the best place is on BG, SOR or JQ. But other times I want a serious/skilled small group or solo fight and the best place for that is on or against a server like ET of FC. By giving the option to go onto a map with a smaller cap it would give me the option to do whichever I want.
Its so much easier to TP flip and buy precursors. I honestly don’t think I will ever get a precursor in a drop. But I can earn enough gold in a week by TP flipping to buy any precursor I want.
A quote from someone about two months back regarding a thread about yak slapper and a few other achievements:
“We are actively working on addressing this. It takes more time than you might think, however, because we also have to make sure to have a solution that doesn’t mess up people who have achieved titles already.”
Honestly, with so many months gone by, I expected it to be in with the achievement rework/remodel. But it’s not. Has Anet decided that killing 1 million yaks is achievable? It’s not like its physically possible for anyone to be even remotely close to completing this achievement for at least another 8 years and only if its the only thing they do in the game and the only thing they have done since launch. And if so, they get 25 achievement points.
Ive noticed a big migration away from ORR just recently. There have been a few things that have effected this, but surprisingly it seems the farming nerfs are what had the biggest effect.
I’m a little perplexed. My understanding of the living world was they were introducing new content as a means of showing how the world was changing and evolving. But by removing that content after a short period of time aren’t we just reverting to what the game was before and showing how it is not changing or evolving?
Well A-net can’t do anything about the one server having more people than the other
Ye, it’s not like they are effectively gods who can put whatever rules in place they choose… oh.
He didnt mean they litterally cannot do it. But consider this, if you logged in one day and found that you were moved by ANet to another server. Seperated from your friends, your guild.
Would you be happy that ANet did something? Especially if they then charge you money to move back to your old server, that would be a hoot. Pretty sure these forums would go down in flames if they ever did that.
And rightly so, because that’s completely the wrong way to go about it. There is a few issues with the way you put it. Now consider them doing it this way. They reduce the map cap so larger guilds cannot fit onto a server stacked with pugs who have been following them. Eventually, after hitting queues all too often, the guild decides to leave (with their friends). Because Anet fixed their pricing so that transferring to a low population server is cheap there is no problem with putting 10g into a transfer to avoid the queues.
Right now the pricing for transfer is broken because they have adjusted the definitions multiple times since they put their pricing back on transfers. They need to do it very differently and it should not be based on total server population, but active WvW player population.
Right now the map cap is there to cater to stacking servers and until they change that WvW is just a joke game format where you pay to win by paying to transfer to a higher population server. As far as I am concerned, Anet is doing this model at present to exploit players into paying gems to win.
Hopefully this issue will resolve itself, and here’s how:
You know how Anet is putting different servers against each other? This isn’t just so we at SoR can get free loot bags. Ultimately they’re trying to come up with an accurate ranking system that will put servers against like-strength servers. So abandoned servers will be put next to other abandoned servers, whereas WvW behemoths will have to fight other behemoths.
The problem isn’t being ignored. It just takes forever to deal with.
It doesn’t really work like that. All the system does is give a chance to gain or lose rating quicker. And along with that give “abandoned servers” a higher chance of playing “behemoth servers” through random roll. I really doubt that this change was in anyway intended to address this and if it was, they severely misunderstood how their system works.
I have played on: ET, HOD, IOJ, SOR, JQ, SOS and BG. By far the best PvP action happens on low tier servers like ET. The average skill level of players in low tier is, despite what you might think, a lot higher than high tier servers. If your an avid PvPer than I think you would be better off on a server like ET. If your a casual/karma train/PvEer your better off on a high tier server.
Anyone else got input? Im interested in this. I have an unequipped legendary in my bank and considering selling it. But Im worried because its a one hand legendary with very few buy orders for it on the TP. Do people think any legendary will sell or only the most popular?
If your asking which class is best for roaming with 5-15, your asking the wrong question. What you need to think about is builds. In team play you need players who can stack buff, lay down fields, spam combos on those fields etc etc. No one class can do all that without very different builds and specific builds on various classes will do it better than others.
Well A-net can’t do anything about the one server having more people than the other
Not sure if your being sarcastic or not ^^
awhile back I was pulled straight up into the air and out over the wall from inside the courtyard not even on the wall though I think it was siegerazer that did it. havn’t seen anything that crazy for awhile though.
No thats called lag lol. No skill can lift you. I often jump off walls to the inside of a keep, only to end up outside when landing. Quite hilarious.
Mesmer pulls are powerfull, but if you cant handle going outside the keep without dying, the keep is already lost. Or you’re a weaksauce zerker, whatever.
There is what looks like a bug that lifts you when you collide with an object at more than normal speed. This goes for a lot of skills that either pull or gap close. Ive been fired 30 feet into the air from a Mesmer pull after colliding with the lip of the wall and landed on the outside of the wall. Ive gap closed with tow line on the cusp of water and been fired a similar distance onto land. Its not simply lag. There is a collision bug there.
I got over 90% of the wvw world completion in a week on Erredon Terrace, the lowest ranked server in NA in under a week. All I need is two vistas on red team. Want to tell me some more about your troubles in Kaineng? I’d like to hear them. Also, I’d love to hand you lots of legendarys on a silver platter for free with no effort on your behalf. Just be aware, when I mail them to you, don’t put in the effort of clicking accept. I’ll come to your place and do that for you.
Scorpion Wire requires LOS.
Temporal curtain can pull you from there and over the ledge occasionally. Its hit and miss though. Some people claim you can’t, but you can. It’s just not 100% consistently going to pull you over the edge from there. At least, that is what I have found.
Pariah I am having the same problem on ET. This isn’t a Tier thing. There is something wrong with Anets servers.
Something clearly happened on reset, I was fine in EB all last week, as soon as reset happens I dc from EB, I get into other BLs and am fine but as soon as I go into EB bang I dc again.
I noticed EB seems to be the worst also. There were a few hours where nobody from ET could connect to EB at all but could still connect to the borderlands and most of us were lagging out or disconnecting in there.
Pariah I am having the same problem on ET. This isn’t a Tier thing. There is something wrong with Anets servers.
Keep demanding answers. This lag is game breaking
Yeah I came in here to check before bed. I expected various threads with rage. Not getting any. This lag is terrible. Possibly the worst I have ever experienced. I have died so many times from DCs in combat
A large portion of the WvW player base is casual and do things that reward them. The vast majority of loyal GW2 players have been conditioned to chase after the carrot so that’s what they are going to do. Why stick around to work on defending a major objective, paying for upgrades and not generating much income when you can run off with the farm train to farm all that karma, bags and badges? PvP is not serious in this game and never will be. Its a casual game designed for casual players.
There were quite a few items that were very exploitable. I don’t think they could keep track of each one and how players found to exploit them so in the end I think they just decided to get rid of all of them to avoid future problems.
Probably more around 1k to tag and I’m reasonably sure you still have to be within the ‘in combat’ radius of the opponent when it dies.
Wrong and wrong.
‘Tag’ is less than 500, hard to stick an exact number to it without solid testing.
Credit is time based. You have to do damage to them within X time of dying. You can be anywhere in the current map when the target dies to get credit. lets say you die and respawn, you still get credit for the kill if the enemy dies soon after.
From my experience this is spot on.
Actually, yeah. Spoke without thinking on the leash distance. Have been plenty of times when I’ve been at spawn with bags.
I’d still say the damage is somewhere between 500 – 1000 but 500 could very well be the case. I’d be interested to know if it’s actually a set number of hits to tag rather than raw damage.
Nothing worse than when you die early in a fight and get a tag on a full zerg and you want to rally back to the fight and you have to decide whether to get back there asap or stop and pick up the 50 bags that slowly drop along the way :p
There was a thread about this earlier. I said it wasn’t happening on low tier servers. Now I’m getting disconnects on Eredon Terrace which is the lowest ranked server in NA right now, so this disconnect thing at least isn’t a “your too high a tier” thing. There is a new connection issue with server and it’s only started in the last 24 hours.
This thread got me thinking about permaswiftness on the thief. It appears, you can just about achieve it. Thought Id mention because I wasn’t sure it was possible.
Firstly, you can run 30 in trickery for a 30% reduction in steal recharge and take grandmaster sleight of hand or a total of 50% reduction in steal recharge down to 17.5 seconds for a steal. Run (adept) Thrill of the crime for 10 seconds of swiftness when you steal.
Second boon stacking. You can run runes of the centaur for 20% swiftness duration and 10s of swiftness when you use a heal skill (which actually doesn’t seem so bad if your running a bleed build – and if your good with direction change on withdraw you, its only 15s recharge). Then if that’s not doing it, you can take acrobatics trait line to get up to 30% boon duration or take food for 40%, all of which will get you over the 17.5s on steal recharge.
Not saying it would necessarily be an awesome build. But combined with 25% MS signet, 50% MS in stealth and shadow step I think it would be hard to “outrun” that build.
I’ve never been hit by more than about 7.2k from a BS and most of my classes are either full or near full glass cannon builds. Id be interested to know how people who are saying they are getting 12k+ BS crits running 2-3k toughness builds are getting this high a number. I can only assume upscaled or low level gear or a combination of the two.
It seems like an extremely risky area. I mean, have 100% completion on one char and 98% on another and 6 others that are around 60-70%. Buying a legendary on the TP does not appeal to me at all. Why pay more when I can spend a couple of days finishing off what I need to make a legendary? I’m sure there are people who will buy them, but it just feels like a very limited amount of players that would find it worthwhile buying them. I can only really see players who are buying a lot of gold either through Anet or a gold seller to “save time” grinding out what is needed. I own two legendarys, one equipped and one not, but I won’t bother selling the other one because I think its highly unlikely the unequipped one would sell. Maybe if it was a greatsword.
Probably more around 1k to tag and I’m reasonably sure you still have to be within the ‘in combat’ radius of the opponent when it dies.

Most likely happening to all servers, tons of DCs on Blackgate as well.
Its only happening in higher ranked/populated servers. Ive had no issues on Erredon Terrace and been playing since before reset.
Increasing the AoE cap would have no effect on zerging, it would only change the meta. That said, id totally be in favour of reducing the map cap to both reduce the number of players the server has to deal with in order to give it some hamster power to bump the AoE cap up a bit.
D/P build is clearly the issue. Its survivability is fine, but the problem is you don’t have to sacrifice enough DPS for the level of survivability you get. I don’t really care if they nerf them or not. Outside of what they do well they are sub par at everything else. But if they are going to nerf it, they need to look at the kit. Nerfing traits etc is just going to nerf other builds that aren’t so bad.
The one any only thing I want removed is AC. Not because of what they are meant to do, but because of how they are being exploited by every server I have been on and played against. Orbs got removed for the exact same reason. Anet is doing nothing about this and even condone the use of a program that can do this. It is so game breaking and makes WvW much more of a joke than it already is.
Roll a thief and bypass the 100 players and start flipping stuff in behind them. I am on Erredon Terrace atm and this is a standard for me. Ive been in this situation almost daily. A few times Ive managed to have every sentry and every camp on the map capped whilst we have about 5 players on the map vs as many as 100. This week has been a bit different though. Despite playing higher ranked servers than usual, it appears they are coasting and not as many are turning up so until recently we held our own in EB.
Just TP flip yourself. I spent the last weekend doing it. Now im earning around 50g every day and its barely slowing down my normal gameplay. I play 4-5 hours a night on a weeknight and just take a bit of time to put in some buy orders and resell what has come in and then go play the game. Im surprised at how easy it is to get gold.
My big problem is actually laruels. Im finding it substantially harder to get ascended for my 8 chars to be fully geared. On current progression its going to take me around 2 years to do this. Partly because I play by myself 99% of the time so no guild missions. The only way to speed up that process is through guild missions. But yeah, this wills still take me a lot longer to get than legendarys. I have 2 legendarys and can easily make my third and forth right now if I wanted.
Sure, legendarys aren’t really legendary. They were designed badly. They should have been based on accomplishments in the game. But they are not. There are a lot of things in this game that are like this. So I just live with it and adapt and move along.
Im currently on Erredon Terrace. Ive played on HOD, IOJ, SOR and JQ as well. Last night during Oceanic prime time we literally had two players, myself included, on our own borderlands. It was literally a 2v5 on our own borderlands. We owned nothing on EB or any other map. I find it safe to say that there would have been no more than about 5 (ET) players in total on all 4 maps at one stage during Oceanic prime time. Now compare that to my time on SOR, where they have the capacity and potential to queue all maps during Oceanic prime time and sometimes did. I say “capacity and potential”because I noticed players/groups/guilds often left a map unguarded on a regular basis on purpose so they could recap it at a later stage.
And that pretty much sums up coverage. WvW is a casual game mode. I believe completely that Anet does not see population imbalances or coverage as much of an issue. Yes its something they would like to balance out a little, but they would also like to integrate a precursor scavenger hunt like they did 6 months ago. Coverage and balance will not be “solved”, not in the way that we see it as needing. WvW will always be about this… grinding for badges, karma and bags. A casual PvE gamemode with a very small component of unbalanced PvP with a bring more mentality. That is all WvW will ever be. This is a harsh reality for a lot of us, you can either come to accept it or hate it and leave.

Merging wouldn’t work. As it is, they almost need a third group of servers for some Oceanic/Asian areas. The ping right now from Australia to NA servers is bearable for me. But if your extremely serious about PvP you would have quit the game a long time ago. League of legends recently introduced Oceanic servers along with the existing NA and Euro servers. The connection to Euro servers is pretty much unplayable at a competitive level. Add in players to a single server from all around the world and the hamsters we call Anet servers and you have yourself a lag festival.
Scavenger hunt will be here soon! Anet have said so. They haven’t started on it but they have done some seriously thinking about it. They have done some serious pondering about it. They have, oh look over there, its a pig flying!
I have opened over 200 chests now and still yet to get an exotic or an ascended, let alone a precursor. I’ve only had about 12 rares, the rest have been greens. I got a few rares early, now I haven’t had one for a really long time. I don’t really want a precursor, but some ascended sure would be nice so I can gear up.
I’ve always felt what the Necromancer had at their disposal and how they could use it in the mid line for an organized team and/or zerg was extremely OP. But I still don’t see as many Necros as I would expect considering what they bring to the table.
Double teaming maybe morally wrong
How on earth did you come to that conclusion?
OP was talking about 2 winning servers ganging up together against the outnumbered one. In other words 2 bigger vs 1 smaller. The classic school yard bullies vs victim scenario.
It seems that nowadays words like honor, loyalty, morale, ethics and truth are some alien words to many people. But to me they are more than words. If a situation like I described above feels morally fine to you, that’s your opinion and I am not gonna chage it. That your commander raises up your troop’s morale by concentrating the attacks on the easiest opponent, then fine by me, but do pause for a second to think how it feels on the losing side. To me morale means the spirit when fighting together against a common goal in the time of hardship. Note the emphasis on the word hardship, instead of selecting the easiest route.
Oh please don’t bring morals into this. It’s a waste of time.
Or do your morals prevent you from killing an enemy player because they are outnumbered? Do your morals only allow for 1v1 fights because you want your opponent to have a fighting chance? Do your morals compel you to leave a tower be instead of attacking because you have a superior force to theirs? Or do your morals only apply when it suits you?
No, they aren’t just words to me, they do have meaning, but everyone on the WvW battlefield stepped in their knowing what the score was. It’s still a competition to see who comes out on top. If eliminating one of the threats improves my chances, so be it. Just because a player isn’t very skilled at chess it does not mean I should hesitate to use a fool’s mate on him to knock him out of the tournament.
True, but that said, I’d argue double teaming has no effect in the long term. Particularly so in the new matchmaking system.
So I am getting bored with playing the game and thought Id play something different… TP flipping. But I’ve run into an issue. I’m making so many transactions that it is really difficult to get an accurate guage of my profit, let alone if I am making a profit. Do people keep records? I originally was listing stuff on notepad, but there are so many variations to keep track of. Like I put in a buy offer for 100 of X and I get 17 of them and use those to craft Z along with the 30 of Y that I also put in a buy offer and then have 13 of Y left…. it gets too much. It seems like the only way to do it, with a lot of things is to base of current numbers rather than off what the numbers were at the time I got the buy offer. Everyone else do this or do you keep records?
Came here for the same reason. I only just played my first time but stuck on the same spot. Im not sure what is doing it, but there is a daze that gets me. Before I am out of daze I get melted by the wall. I tried popping stun breakers but I only got so many. Im guessing this will be a class/build issue as Ive seen the same questions and no answers that really give any input I haven’t already thought of.
To the losing server(s), there is no meaningful difference between being spawn camped and having a stronger server guarding everything that grants points. Nor is this more exciting for the server doing the camping.
I have to wonder how much a score handicap will help. Are people dissuaded by total score/PPT, or by what happens in WvW? I’ve seen the enemy vacate a map many times after they fight tooth and nail over garrison and then lose it. Is your average player going to stay on a map with no commander, one that has the out manned buff, or join a map where their server holds nothing? Probably not.
Make population the factor. Not points.
But points are determined by population…
They sure are. Its a major reason I don’t care about points and who “wins”. The end result is a joke. There is no balance in the scoring system and this is a design flaw that Anet does not seem to care about. Anet has now implemented a grind for statistical advantage in an apparent PvP mode where scoring is based off how many people are stacked into a server. There are a lot of people concerned and voicing their opinions regarding matchmaking and making reference to the points system when the issue is the points system is completely broken thanks to terrible design. WvW is a game mode to cater for casuals who want to grind a statistical advantage and join up with a larger amount of players to beat a smaller amount of players, no more no less.
Thief with the 50% movement speed in stealth trait and the 25% movement speed signet is the fastest I believe. I don’t think they can get permaswiftness, but there are 4 traits that can give swiftness, I only use “Thrill of the Crime”, which gives 10seconds quickness on steal. If your running a lot of stealth the 50% is better than you can get from 33% MS from swiftness anyways.
