I actually just logged in to post about this too.

I’m at a point in the game where I’m fighting a boss, and then for no reason at all the game breaks to a cut-scene. In the cut-scene every single NPC and my character are suddenly and inexplicably absent save for one female soldier and one male. The female shouts “it’s too strong!” (which is rubbish, we were mauling the thing) and then nothing happens for about 2 seconds. The boss then knocks her down and again, nothing happens for 2 seconds. The male tries to save her and shoots his gun at the boss, making no sound and spawning no projectiles. This animation plays for 2 more seconds and the female runs away. She then STANDS STOCK STILL in view of the camera as the boss lumbers over to the guy and hits him three times, at which point him crumples to the ground.

I wholeheartedly agree that this game needs a serious look at its cut scenes and voice acting, it’s simply second rate and seriously breaks immersion as it’s extremely difficult to feel any emotion toward any of the NPCs. During the story missions I often find myself skipping passed the conversations between characters as they rapidly grow redundant and are quite predictable.

Simply incredible. From the rapidly respawning NPCs, to the terrible wave based combat, this mission is just an utter failure in every regard. The fact that it cannot even be completed when a single NPC dies (and let’s face it, it’s not like self preservation is high on their AI behaviour list) AND ArenaNet haven’t even responded to this thread is beyond belief.

Creating a mission that requires you to shephard kitten NPCs is already a massive design fault, escort missions are NEVER a good thing, this was established, oh, I don’t know, 10 years ago? If you ARE going to do escort missions, you betterkittenwell make sure your AI is up to the task, and clearly, the AI in this game is incredibly badly implemented. I would be ashamed of myself if I produced AI at the level of quality exhibited in this game for any publisher.

Rapidly respawning NPCs are yet another poor design decision, in the best case scenario, the player will complete the otherwise shallow and lacking content in twice the time they normally would, but in the worst case scenario they’ll simply give up as they’re unable (or more likely unwilling) to advance. Once again, rapidly respawning mobs are something that most other video games stopped doing, because they employed quality control.

In conclusion, this is yet another hideously executed mission in a long line of poorly scripted and poorly designed “story” encounters.

Don’t even get me started on the voice acting.

I’ve gotten a lot of glory from manning the Trebuchet in Khylo, occasionally it’ll get focused and you waste a few minutes respawning and repairing, but no one ever seems to chase the repairman, nor do they comeback to destroy it too often. Just had 248 glory from blowing people up inside and around Clocktower.

There’s something about that map that just doesn’t sit well with me. Perhaps it’s the underwater combat that is terribly implemented, or the Ruins being the single most aggravating point to capture or hold in the entire game. Maybe it’s the fact that the cannon cannot hit the ruins, loses power the closer your target is to it, and the camera clips all the time around the nearby objects preventing easy aiming. Or maybe it’s the fact that 1/2 of the time when the map switches to Capricorn, everyone leaves except a couple of players who have never played it before.

There’s definitely something about that map… something wrong.

Yes, people weren’t quietly murdered till the 11th century. I thought everyone knew that…..

If you’re going to use the word Assassin, you should be aware of where it originated from.

I wish games wouldn’t kittenize the term “assassin”. For a start, it originated from Arabic, so their clothes certainly wouldn’t be leathery and ninja looking, however tight leather seems to titilate nerds so… What I wouldn’t give for a game that gave assassins proper weapons, like this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katara_

The Thief pretty much is an assassin archetype, I’ve a feeling that ArenaNet simply named it Thief because of the steal ability, because other than that there’s nothing thiefy about the Thief.

Also the trenchcoats can just bugger off. Seriously.

I use quad pistols in sPvP. Yep, quad. I use weapon switch for various trait procs, and since weapon skills are limited by initiative cost instead of cooldown, and all my traits are based around dual wielding / pistols there’s no need to equip anything else. Everything else that doesn’t boost pistol skills goes into improving initiative gain and Bob’s your Uncle.

Hahahaha OP you poor soul, you think that those players listing the items don’t know that they’re undercutting the NPCs? They do! And that’s the truly sad part. When I look at prices for my green crafted weapons I just salvage ‘em, they’re simply not worth selling unless they’re yellow. Even with the yellow weapons I see people selling them for less than the cost of making them which is just utterly daft.

Happened to me in AC exploreable, were at the last fight and two people left, we left one person in the instance and the rest of us exited to recruit more players. When we tried to re-enter, we couldn’t get back into the old instance. Yeah was pretty bullkitten.

Hi guys,

How does PvP experience contribution work? At first I assumed it was on a per-character basis, but when I created my Thief alt, he was rank 5 like my Warrior. However, his rank title was still “Rabbit”, which is the rank 1 title and even worse, he contributes almost nothing to my exp bar when I PvP with him.

Is this supposed to work like this? I cleared rank 5 in an hour with my Warrior, I would have expected the bar to have moved after playing half an hour on my Thief and contributing to wins in almost every match. I think I just played about 5-6 matches and gained 9 exp total, which just doesn’t seem normal.

Issues with getting in dungeon instances

I have just wasted 3 hours in AC dungeon for nothing.
I went to the dungeon’s area and formed a group, after the 3rd boss someone went offline and didn’t come back, so I went outside to find a replacement, I found someone but when we entered the dungeon we were not in the same instance with the rest of the group. We tried everything but nothing worked, so we started from the beginning.
When we reached the boss that is before the final one another person disconnected and never came back so we just gave up…

I don’t understand why GW2 doesn’t have a dungeon tool or anything to help us form groups fast. removing the tank/healer/dps rules was too awesome that you didn’t think of providing any tool to help us do dungeons?

after those wasted hours I am not really in the mood to play anymore.

I read that forming a dungeon group would be faster in GW2, but it is taking the same time and sometimes more to form a group, and if someone leaves in the middle of the instance it’s a disaster
I am never doing dungeons again till you add something to make things easier (let’s hope)

You’d think that something as serious and game breaking as losing dungeon progress wouldn’t have made it live passed the beta weekends, I think it’s safe to assume that it’s a new bug that only made itself known after the live launch. Perhaps it was caused by the added load of so many players accessing their servers.

Nevertheless it’s a complete bloody joke, they ought to post a warning in game or something when you’re entering a dungeon advising you about the probability of lost progress.

Today I was attempting AC exploreable with one guildie and 3 pugs. It went something like this:

Half an hour in, first person has to leave, I exit the dungeon and find a replacement. He’s not able to get into the same instance as us, so we all exit and rejoin. The dungeon has reset.

Right at the very final part of the final fight, two people (including guildie) rage quit. One of the remaining pugs and I leave to invite two new players, leaving one player in the instance of the dungeon where we had cleared. None of us are able to join him, despite many attempts. We give up.

3 hours later, massive repair bill, no decent drops, rage all round. Not doing dungeons again;

I can only assume that sado-masochism was in the Arena Net GW2 Manifesto.

Yes it didn’t happen to us every time, for example I disconnected and rejoined the game outside of the instance. When I entered I was with my friends again.

Later on we added a new player to the group, and the instance partially reset. We didn’t really notice as the group that he had left had fallen apart at the same boss as we were on.

Perhaps then changing the group composition will reset the instance. Which is completely and utterlykitten There’s really no incentive to doing AC exploreable when you can’t even bring new players to replace the ones that weren’t masochistic enough to keep it together :/

Hi folks,

Just had a really, REALLY frustrating experience with AC Exporeable where two players left during our final fight, so we had to get more. I and another of the remaining players left the dungeon to recruit two more, and we couldn’t get back in. We tried re-entering multiple times, and without any of the new players inside but the instance had reset every single time. So yeah, 3 hours wasted.

What’s the deal with this? How can you ensure that you can get back into the same version of the instance that you left?

For a while I rolled a Warrior marksman with a bow, rifle and signets with signet / crit traits. I found it especially useful in world PvP where I didn’t need to stack a million points in defensive traits for simple luxury of surviving in melee combat. The same applied in PvE where I could fight mobs 4 levels above me by using range to suppress them. I’m sword/axe axe/sword now for the lulz.

So When does End-Game Start?

nosleepdemon.1368

Hi everyone! It’s my first post here on the forums, and I’d like to address the problem of the lack of “end-game” content in Guild Wars 2!

I’ve played a good few MMOs in my time, including Ragnarok Online, Runescape, Rift, Aion and of course The King: World of Warcraft. One thing I noticed about Guild Wars 2 is that there doesn’t appear to be any “end-game” content, and this is somewhat of a disappointment to me. Being a diehard MMO player, I’ve come to expect there to be a reward for all the hard work I put into grinding my way to max level, but in GW2 this doesn’t seem to be the case. Allow me to define “end-game” content:

Gear Progression: I like to constantly be on the hunt for gear, allowing me to progress through “end-game” dungeons in a linear fashion based purely upon my stats.

40 man raids: I enjoy waiting for 2 hours while my guild assembles so that we can all wipe together while someone 1/3 my age screams about “dots”.

PvP: Something I particularly liked about Warcraft was rolling into the Arena and getting spanked by Rogues using War Glaives, I felt that the hard work they put into PvE should directly translate to them kicking my backside in PvP, even though they appeared to be incapable of avoiding any of my combos.

World Bosses: A friend of mine played Final Fantasy, and it was exciting to watch several guilds vie over the right to fight a world boss (with a random spawn of +- 6 hours!) instead of all getting a reward for working co-operatively. Competition is good and healthy!

Flying Mounts: Mounts that move just shy of the speed of sound might completely destroy the concept of a front line in world PvP, but they undeniably allow you to skip over content that you’ve already completed and have no interest in taking part in on your way to farm 100 Glowing Quintescences in the Crystal Fields of Elite Dragonkin Without Loot Tables.

I think my biggest issue with GW2 is that there seems to be a lot of “end-game” content present right from the get go, but without any of the advantages I listed above. I, and apparently many other MMO players on these forums, would prefer it if it could be moved to level 80 so we’d have a reason to get there quickly to enjoy it.

Sincerely,

Vicky Spanish [Legolass, level 85 WoW hunter].
