Thankfully I’m not the only one who realizes skimpy armor makes no sense. Who runs into battle with sharp weapons with their stomach exposed?
Also, did anyone post that vid of the female warrior complaining bout the skimpy armor while the males got fully covered?
Yes. It doesn’t make any sense.
The fact that I sheathe my staff and it floats 6 inches from my back makes no sense.
I can magically make myself appear any where in the world by using a magic map (did I get that from Dora?).
There is a giant candy corn in my home zone that I can mine.
It said I grew up in a family of privilege, where is my home?
Why can’t it just be about making available as many choices and options for people to dress their characters how they see fit so they can enjoy themselves? Does the solution have to involve intolerance?
It’s all about variety and having more of every option as balanced as possible. Freedom of choice for everyone
Gender is irrelevant in what someone likes. Remember that.
Thank you.
Found her.

Looking forward to July 1st.
If the consequence would be another Tequatl, or something close, then i’d rather have Shatterer remain unchanged.
That’s just it, the content is at a certain level, and I’m not opposed to some changes, like they’ve done from time to time on other bosses (like SB and FE, or cleaning up Claw so there weren’t all the safe spots).
But anything outside that range, I would rather they add new content, like the evolved wurm, and people that would rather do the difficult content can go there, and if they are completely bored with the easier world events, they can not do them.
I’d rather they provide more content options for more people, rather than re-purposing existing content. I’ve never understood why this has to be an ‘us and them’ situation.
On a side note, I would like them to change that collection pre-event. It takes too long, and causes the event to needlessly bump up close to the following event, for those that like to do it (in my case, I do it at a time when the normal wurm is the next event). That collection pre-event causes scaling that ends up causing it to take 8 minutes to complete, leaving only 6-7 for the fight itself. Maybe replace it with a champion to kill, or something, like at the jungle wurm.
I do prefer the new content, but I propose the Shatterer is broken because if you stand in this one spot he can’t hit you. I don’t think he really needs to be another Teq, maybe just a bit stronger because of how easy this mighty dragon can go down, but the fact that this exploit still exists ruins the game in a big level. It makes this epic boss laughable.
Yeah, and just like the issues with Claw, things like that ought to be fixed, I agree.

Anyway, if you want to play a game where you don’t have to try or apply yourself, that’s called a movie.
I guess I really enjoy the move they created and have let me watch for the last 2 years. I look forward to continuing to watch it.
Now, what they could do is revamp dungeons and fractals so that they are super hard and instanced, and you would have that to do, no? And maybe make ‘more’ dungeons and fractals which are instanced and hard and fun for you to do, right?
Why does that require the destruction of content and the philosophy of the open world that some of the rest of us enjoyed, and they seemed eager to provide us, for the last 2 years? Why does it have to be one or the other? I don’t begrudge you being given interesting and difficult content, why would content I enjoy need to be removed?
So you’re totally cool with auto-attacking all day long in a zerg? This is what you want the game to be? I’m sorry but it sounds to me like your idea of fun is just mindnumbingly boring and pointless. I would be all for this notion of catering to both sides, if Anet could actually pull it off. Honestly it doesn’t seem like they have time time or manpower to do so. Instead of a game packed with tons of content that one side can fully appreciate, we have a watered-down product that tries to cater to both sides. It’s like spreading not enough jelly over too much bread.
I actually don’t play that way. I know it’s a popular thing to say, pressing 1 all the time. I see it at world events all the time (though, it confuses me why those people are there, if they aren’t enjoying themselves), but I don’t play that way when I’m at those events. I cycle through a good number of my skills and weapons. Not all of them, but anything that makes sense. Does it matter that I do that? I don’t know. Am I having fun doing it the way I want? Very much so.
I think they could service both communities easily. While I don’t agree that Teq should have been created by stealing existing content, it’s there, and that’s fine. I like it better that with the enhanced Wurm, it was ‘new’ content and didn’t steal from existing content. There’s dungeons, but I can understand how you folks are finding that stale now, they need to make more. There’s fractals too, and I’m not sure why people are talking about those more as awesome content to do? They introduced a new one of those at some point too, didn’t they?
If they put some more effort into revamping some monster mechanics (and I’d be fine if those ended up in the open world, so long as they were used in such a way that it catered to more of an open world play mentality, which doesn’t have to be ‘completely’ uncoordinated, I don’t think those of us that enjoy big, open world, groupless-grouping content are all completely lame) and dungeon mechanics and created some more intense dungeons and fractals, that would give you folks a path to pursue if the open world, groupless-grouping stuff gets too boring.
At the same time, they can continue on with living story and open world stuff as well.
I think they could do it if they shifted some resources around, and maybe picked up a few designers that specialize in revamping that sort of content (if they need the help). Remember when they said they had like 3 living world teams, I think it was, and they were all kinda leap frogging each other with the content? Does it really need to be that many teams? Could the living story stuff not happen as frequently, and break half of those people out into revamping the dungeon/fractal experience, along with introducing more of them? Then they could ping pong back and forth between living story updates, new dungeon/fractal, open world, etc.
I agree, that it seems like players like yourself that are looking for more challenging content seemed to have gotten the shaft a little bit. I just don’t think the way to accomplish filling that gap is to throw everything else away and rebuild it so it’s ‘all’ that type of content.
And if you are right, and they just can’t do it, then I’ll will just be sad that their internal organization and goals are such that they end up pitting the community against each other, and selfishly hope that the pendulum doesn’t swing too much. And I would not begrudge you from doing the same, which is exactly what you are doing.
Peace.

This popular notion that the “entire point of gw2 is open world akf 111111 zerging” is such a huge misconception. Please stop beating this drum. If open world is the whole point of gw2, then why do dungeons and personal story exist?
The “point” of gw2 transcends these things. The point is that its a game, and the point of a game is to be fun. If you think “afk 11111 while checking facebook” zerging is fun, then please log off gw2 and focus on Farmville.
OP, Nick, and Bri +1
I actually very much like the existing design, compared to classes, roles, trinities, no open grouping, that past MMOs have had. It’s much more organic and friendly.
I don’t particularly enjoy dungeons that much, but have been on a few runs here and there with people claiming to be experienced and skilled players, and all we do is stand on each other and “afk 11111 while checking facebook” (as you put it), and it doesn’t seem all that much different to me.
For the panini!
I just did map completion now (well, technically I have one more pin I missed…but I see it) on a 13th level character (specifically created after the big patch to experience obtaining new skills), and it was kinda fun. Little nostalgia, little sad, little hopeful.
I was admiring at all the work, and reflecting back on what it was like to do map completion the first time, and went looking for a useful place to post it.
Not too proud to take my grumble hat off and appreciate what they built and say thank you.
Well now it appears all the way to July 1st.
There is a mini beagle.
Edit: Hm, maybe your post is meant to be asking for the mini puppy to be able to swim. If so, I agree. I want my swimming beagle.
He’s a beagle, but the item is called ‘Mini Puppy’.
That expresses your concern a lot better than your first post. Well done.
:)
Could you be more specific?
There are lots of banks and trade posts all over Lion’s Arch, including a pair conveniently located at the Mystic forge. In fact, they are all conveniently located with crafting stations in little clusters all over LA.
The guild bank is off by itself not terribly convenient to anything, much less the Mystic Forge. I have a lot of items stored in my guild vault that I specifically save up for the Mystic Forge, and it makes for quite a bit of back and forth, with clicking on waypoints, accepting dialog boxes (are you sure? no really, you want to travel? last chance? are you certain you wouldn’t rather just staying where you are at?), and then a loading screen, and a lengthy run to the guild bank, pick up materials, repeat waypoint/dialogs/loading screen back to the mystic forge.
LA (and even Vigil) use to have guild banks and banks right next to each other, and both only a few paces away from the mystic forge.
So, how hard would it be to get a guild bank down by the mystic forge? Duplicating bankers and trade post(men?) seems easy, there are quite a few around LA. How about some love for the guild bank?
That’s a lot of clicking, dialogs, loading screens, walking and carpel tunnel to churn through items I’ve been storing in my Guild Bank.
I like both and need more choices for both.
That’s pretty much my thought as well. There’s a lot of armor that isn’t terribly appealing to me, regardless of arbitrary, deliberative negative labels placed on it.
The discussion shouldn’t be multiple choice, unless the answer is ‘all of the above’.
Unless that is the discussion people want to have, and feel there is a line, and everything should be on one side of the line and anyone who is left standing on the other side of the line can leave. If that is the discussion that people want to have, I find that a bit intolerant and sad.
While I prefer mix and match (3 pieces from 3 different store leather sets come to mind), I’m not opposed to the idea of full piece outfits (the pirate one is cute enough), I don’t have any confidence the ‘live’ team (whoever is helming it now, or drives design decisions) would ever produce something I’d be interested in. Based on the original character models, running animations, and earlier work, I suspect the development team (or maybe older live team), might have.
The new piece is nice enough, and if enough people enjoy that vs things I might enjoy that the dollars dictate concentrating on more items like that, then as with all things, it will be weighed and considered as I move forward.
I do like the black cub, even though it’s just the old lion cub spray painted black. I might get that for my Ranger, and then use the black panther combat pet.
Saving more of my money these days for new heroes and costumes.
Dungeons are fine. The problem is there aren’t other paths with any sort of ‘daily’ limit like that for people that don’t enjoy dungeons.
I think that we want to make MMOs ‘Lil Americas’ is kinda sad. I think greed is sad. I don’t particular think there is anything special about a dungeon that should reward someone more for their time than anything else that also takes time to complete. I think risk/reward is a terrible paradigm.
But, that’s just an opinion. And I’m sure I’m in the minority. Dungeons are too big to fail. Free markets. NASCAR. Flag pins. Mission Accomplished. Gordon Gekko.
Peace.
Not something I’m interested in, but it’s nice work, and I’m glad there is a market for it. I’m sure many will enjoy it.
I think it would be a wonderful idea to add more choices and options to the game for everyone, so long as it doesn’t take away from other existing to future choices and options.
There was a recent long thread about dueling which you can read here OP – PvE dueling - to get a good idea of what people think about it, both pro and con.
Thank you.
I guess I’ll first preface with, you’re welcome for the bump.
This is something I’ve never understood, why some folks want to duel. I can at least see why people like to PvP. But, I’m sure no one understands why I like some of the things I like, and am sad that they were either changed or taken away since release (and wish we had the development team/management back instead of the live team/management, but I digress), so I guess I’m indifferent and hope you get it?
So why did you even bother to post? Your comment has nothing to do with my OP anyway- there is nothing to be indifferent or passionate about, I was just asking if duelling had been implemented in GW2 yet.
I guess to offer support from someone who wasn’t directly interested in it, as I can’t see why it would hurt anything, and also be curious as to why some folks enjoy it?
The same thing over and over makes it worse. You have to mix it up (though, maybe not economical to do so).

What does that teach the new players, who happen across this video, and seeing those other two ruffians cheering and mocking you! Shameful! I at least hope you were in Kessex when you did that!
While I like the leveling process (I still have like 6 of those 20th level bumps in my bank unused), it would be nice to be able to go buy books like that with karma or something else that can be acquired in PvE. Candy corn maybe?
Pretty fun though, and glad at least some players that want to bump up quickly like that can.
There’s a clown somewhere that just filed for unemployment.
You can still use your fortune scraps at least. You didn’t go back to that other thread did you?
How can you use old fortune scraps?
Black lion weapon vendors. You need to have the scraps on you, like the Jade tickets.
Ah thanks, I’ll have to go peruse a vendor.

I can’t live without either so I’m getting both, I just have to save up 1600 tokens for the other one.
Both are exquisitely adorable.
How did you get another one of those, uh, “super ticket 6000” (I can’t remember the name, you get a free one for the meta) to get both?
I got the Bazaar favour after opening the bonus chest after doing a dolyak race and I bought the pavilion one off the TP.
Ah, thanks! Didn’t realize those could be sold.
Panda because it’s a GIANT PANDA!
Uh oh … data mined mounts! :p
Can you use the Queens Gauntlet Tickets to buy anything else, or exchange them for something else, if you aren’t super interested in the gauntlet?

Panda because swims.
Yes, he can:) The panda is very adorable.
Awesome, thank you!
I know, I ask this all the time:
Can he swim?
Oh, could have sworn I checked everyone down there. Thank you!
Does anyone know where to get these bags? The wiki says on a vendor, I think, but that’s from last year?
I’m at like 21 and no masters. Trying to use last year’s guide, and many aren’t there.
At 40 and 1, I’m thinking you might be writing the guide this year.
I has 1.
I can has 10?
:)
The quaggans have been around for a while and I can confirm that yes, they swim
The hippo does too, but I don’t know about the piglet
Sweet, I’ll buy the quaggans, thank you!
Thanks, I hate to ask this but…
Quaggan mini pack? Do they swim? I mean…they’re quaggans?
Like the Lion Cub, Bear Cub?
Or, does it vanish, like the puppy and the plush griffon (after they let an intern near it, and it broke his immersion, but a sheathed staff hovering 6 inches behind his back and star trek transporters were fine)?
As the title says.
Compared to what?
Gazillion? Very much so.
Themselves? Not so much.
Well, like Joanie came up with ‘Dren’, they could filter it as ‘Boon’, which is clearly a good thing? Though, that might get confusing.
I don’t play any mmorpg. I’m not saying gw2 ducks but I’m saying it’s declining base on observation.
What observation on the forums can you make that the player base is declining though? Are there less post here can you see when the last time some one played on these forums can you account for ppl only posting when they feel strongly one way or another? To base things purely off of seconded hand observation on something slightly related to something else is a bad way to say one thing or another.
The decline in activity. Granted, it may not be nearly as accurate as hoped, it is the only medium by which a player can evaluate in its entirety. Normally, a player would be limited to any particular server or magazone at any one point in time but on the forum, you can grasp the activity level very well. Just for example sake, let’s look at Lol. We all know it’s popular, not arguing about which game is better or Apple to orange, their forum is VERY VERY active simply due to their population. In that sense, we can get a sense of how the game is doing base on the activity on the forum.
When you look at a game’s forum, you will generally notice that the more popular and populated the game is, the more activity there is. If there is a decline in activity, it would not be far fetched to assert that there is some level of decline for the main game in popularity and therefore by definition, population as well.
Absolutely right. Good assessment. Just like Firefly had roughly 4.7 million viewers around the time of it’s cancellation and something like, say, Dancing With The Stars had about 14.36 million viewers last Monday.
It is good information to have, in the event it’s pertinent in making a decision.
Seems like a reasonable assessment. So GW2 is losing population, and by definition, dying.
At this rate it should be quite dead by the year 2075.
I guess I was conceding to the OP’s assessment of the numbers and how that at least to them, is a definition of ‘dying’, as it relates to software usage, game play.
I was waiting for what was next, or if that was it. Just to be sure we knew that information. I guess I suspected as much? Most games start losing numbers at some point? Some games get expected and unexpected jolts along the way?
So in case any of us didn’t know, or were not sure, there we go. We now know this information.
Although, now that I look up at the subject, there was a ‘slow and painful’ message in there. So was there more to say than just letting us know the population is in decline, and some day, would most likely not be able to support itself and possibly go into some sort of ‘automatic’ mode or be sunsetted?
If not, then I thank them, for the information. Always good to have more information with which to make a decision. I usually don’t base my assessment of enjoying something relative to whether one, many or most people do, but if there are others that do, this should be valuable information.
I don’t play any mmorpg. I’m not saying gw2 ducks but I’m saying it’s declining base on observation.
Alright then. The population is declining.
