Do champs have a 50 tag limit?

I don’t buy the 50 tag limit myth, or the damage threshold myth. (And yes, I know the threshold is in the wiki.) But I’ve come in late to champ kills (no party) and gotten in only a couple of shots and still gotten loot, so if there is a threshold it is very low.

Yes, and I have had this happen as well.

But since the megaservers, the opposite has been true, where I’ve been there the whole time, damaging consistently, and still gotten nothing.

So whether it’s damage thresholds, tagging max, or what have you, there is something not working there.

I don’t know much about programming but the game might consider hair accessories as part of the hair itself. Maybe it was done this way so there wouldn’t be issues with helms. They would have to design a kit with locked hair colors. Depending on how much time and effort it takes to design something like this, it might not be sold cheaply.

I don’t think it should be sold it all. I think it should be something we change on the fly as easily as we dye our armor.

An alternative would be to not burn a kit if all you do is change the color of your hair accessory. They already have all the mechanics in place to make that happen, just add some code to check what was changed, and if it was ‘just’ the color of the hair accessory, don’t burn the kit.

That would even ‘increase’ sales a wee bit, as people who might never buy a hair kit might buy one just to bank it and use it to change the color of their hair accessory on any character from time to time without losing the item. If they want to change something else, it burns the kit, then buy a new one.

But that way we wouldn’t be charged if ‘all’ we were doing is changing the hair accessory color.

I would like them to, but only as an outfit not an endless tonic like they did the khaki shorts..

Because if they made us a tonic similar to how the khaki shorts came out, it would be:

1. Bathing suit bottom (legs)
2. Apollo program space suit (chest)
3. These (feet)

There’s nothing inappropriate about swimsuits. Anyone who believes that has obviously had their mind poisoned by overzealous cultural taboos.

Make it happen.

I’m not disagreeing with you, just pointing out that some things have ‘changed’ a little bit in the past 5-6 months (in my case, a running animation and some clothing I liked), a little here, a little there, with no offered explanation as to ‘why’ (when they are asked).

The only thing that might shed some light on this new philosophy were a few phrases one of chose to use in responding to the clothing changes. Appropriate and healthier game.

So, I hope your request passes their new guidelines.

Something seems to be going on. The new champs at the little wurm, sometimes I get bags and sometimes I don’t. I do plenty of damage.

The worst offender is the Maw fellow (whatever his name is). I can do the same damage and rotation one time and get his bag, and then other times get nothing.

If there is a tag threshold, there shouldn’t be one.

I don’t think there should be any sort of damage threshold with megaservers. Not even sure it made sense before. If you hit it, and see a little white damage number, that’s it, you get the loot.

I’ve gotta say… GW2 has the most casual (and FAST) leveling of any MMO I’ve played in the last decade. If you find this “painful” you may want to find another genre entirely.

You do remember gw2 was advertised as “if you’ve never played an mmo this is the one for you.”

Many people here dislike other mmo’s for that exact reason. Things take too long to get to what people actually want to play.

That is an interesting question and distinction.

Is the original post about the process of leveling itself? Examples of better rewards for leveling? Speed (compared to)? Other?

Or…is this about leveling as a concept? Meaning, you want to come in Call of Duty on day one, gear up, and play ‘the end game’?

You can also switch to lower level gear across the board if you want to make it more difficult. I will usually simply not attack so much or with as powerful skills if I don’t want to kill everything before my friends get a chance.

I was curious as to how much of it is gear. It would be interesting to have someone bank their exotic or ascended gear and throw on some blues and greens and head off into the fray.

Additionally, with free on-the-fly resets, it would be easy enough to just ‘drop’ all your assigned trait points, and only use what you’d have available at a given level for a given zone you are trying to do.

The converse is true as well. If I beef up an alt and shower it with yellows, they do much better on level than with blues and greens, which tend to not match a yellow until 5-7 levels later.

It would be an interesting experiment.

Orr was supposed to be the end game zone, not Queensdale with its endless champ train. That’s why it has no hearts and has the most events of any zone, (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cursed_Shore) as well as the temple events for people to get obsidian shards and what was then max armor.

ANet expected that people would spend a lot of time there. With the Megaservers the population is probably close to what was intended for that zone.

The irony for me is aesthetics, and nothing more, really.

I’d love 75-80 area(s) (or 80 only area?) that ‘look’ like Queensdale, Gendarran, Kessex (before the goth kid makeover), and half snow/pine areas like Lornar’s and Timberline.

I’m not super crazy about zombies and undead and dark and gloomy and fire and lava and vampires and goth and emo and all that. Why aren’t there more top end areas where we’re doing things to help villages and cities and farmers and towns and forts in nice, sunny, grassy areas with centaurs and bandits and ogres and tigers and lions and bears [link to George Takei meme]?

Map completion does not require PvP in any way. It just requires you to be able to get into keeps in WvW over a period of time. You don’t actually have to participate in any way.

Well, that’s not necessarily true.

Not PvPing doesn’t mean being an idiot in a PvP enabled area. It just means being wary and running away when you see red names. That’s how I did it.

But that is, by definition, part of PvP.

Clearly, my story was not to be taken literally. But the fact that you have to run away and hide, lest you be killed by other players – that is part of what defines PvP (or WvW, at any rate, whatever you want to call it: where other people, i.e., non-computer controlled opponents, are your enemy).

I don’t remember ever shooing rabbits away from water melons at the farm in Queensdale, and saw others approaching and though, “Holy smokes, I better run and hide!”

Being in a zone and having to be aware of the rules that apply to that zone isn’t the same as participating. Participation involves interaction. Running away is not interacting, it is quite the opposite of interacting. It is avoiding interaction.

Symantecs.

It’s an environment where other people can actively and directly (vs some ‘indirect’ methods which crop up from time to time in this game and others that are then exploited indefinitely, or until they are corrected) impede you trying to accomplish a task. That is PvP, whether you ‘actively’ engage them in return is irrelevant.

In PvE, no play can actively impede your progress on a task, and it’s generally discouraged.

Controversial, but you can also pay others to run the dungeon for you. I sometimes will solo/duo Arah, mainly to challenge myself and learn to solo Lupi, and partially to provide a service/help those like you, and also make a little bit of gold for my time/skill/efforts

I would consider this, but it seems like it might not be entirely legal, and I don’t know how the exchange works or if you can trust people? Do they trust you to pay after? Do you have to pay them before, and if you don’t get your dungeon tokens, oh well?

I’d be fine with paying. I’ve seen some advertised for like 5-6 gold each run. I figure that’s like 60 gold (on the high end, and 10 runs, but really I only need 9). Just something else to buy, really. I bought the precursor with game earned gold. I am mostly using farming and laurels for T6. I’ll have to spend 100g on those other stone things, and 20 on two recipes. I bought the precursor with money I had saved up (and sold a few other nice exotics I got as drops that fetched a bit of gold back in the day).

Not opposed to it at all. I’ve done some dungeon runs, but I’m honestly not all that good, I suspect, so feeling like I’d need to pay someone to carry me, so to speak, is not unreasonable.

Just not sure if it’s legal, or who to trust.

They should build it into the LFG system, where you put an agreed upon gold into a coffer in exchange for the getting the tokens for completion you are supposed to and when you acquire them, it releases the gold.

To Be Determined.

Right! Meaning, there’s nothing there; a place holder. When they decide what to put there (existing or make a new one), then they’ll put it in that slot and let us know.

Right?

yes

Well then, here was my conversation with someone:

Person: “Anyone know what the TBD event is?”

Me: “To Be Determined

Person: “Yeah…exactly…what is it…anyone know?”

Me: “They don’t know, they haven’t determined it yet.”
Me: “When they decide what to put there, it’ll get a name other than TBD. For now, it’s nothing, just a placeholder.”

Person: “Well, to quote a quaggan I know….‘Foooooo…’” (might have misquoted the number or ‘o’ there)

Me: “:(”

Person: “Maybe Jungle Wurm will go if we don’t talk to Gamarien.”
Person: “I suspect that escort thing might be interfering with the timed event.”
Person: “Scheduled event rather”

[scene]

I guess I could see the last part, if you didn’t know that they moved to a schedule, and needed to learn that it moved to a schedule and some of the old blocking- and pre- events don’t matter at some locations anymore. But it started off with needing to know what TBD was, which means they were aware of the schedule?

3,495 hours. Bought one precursor for Bifrost. Have maybe 80% or more of everything saved up (basically need to buy the 2 recipes and the 100 stone things for 120ish gold, which I have – but still need quite a bit of T6 mats).

But don’t have a single dungeon run stone thingy from Arah. I figure I’ll need to go 9 times on 9 separate days to get the stones I’d need.

I’m intimidated to join a random group, and probably will never get to go, so it all sits in my bank.

Would love to get it some day.

I still find things besides that to do that are fun, though my choices are dwindling. The hard schedules for WEs have reduced the number of those I do. I used to enjoy the daily ‘to dos’, those were fun.

But I ultimately play a lot less now, and am reluctant to buy anything from the store that I think looks fun, lest it get the Westernized hammer like my running animations and some of my clothes.

I did buy $200 worth of Gs from MH recently when they had the 15% bonus on the packs (MaddolfNet never has deals like that). I get Sue Storm in less than a week, with lots left over for other costumes and heroes in the future.

I have 8 characters. 2 haven’t started yet. 4 are 80, 2 on the way (a 52 and 64-ish).

2 of the 80s have it, and 5 of the characters managed to get the WvW stuff done back when I was on servers and had populations where it wasn’t too hard to do. The 2 new characters, and sadly my 80 Thief, have not done the WvW, and probably won’t get a chance to without some drastic changes in how that all works. I’d love to get the 100% done next on my Thief, she’s one of my favorites to play.

So, I’ll probably finish map completion for those who managed to get the WvW in, and forgo it on those that never got it done.

I was originally very opposed to such an amount of dailies, but seeing the trend in the mix now, I can say that it feels really natural now – just play and most likely you’ll be at 4/5 or 5/5 before you even check the list. Heck, even Daily Feast now is a realistic 5 foods.

For once – thanks for the change! I never thought of dailies as a “challenge” but a “chore” instead, so having them naturally achieved now is a big plus for me and not “dumbing down” at all because IMO they should’ve been like this from the start.

But what if there were 4-5 more that were a ‘chore’ to do (I’d call them fun things to seek out and do, but I digress) like we had before?

You’d get your 5 done just by doing whatever else you do, and you can ignore the 4-5 more that are a ‘chore’.

Those of us who enjoy seeking out and doing the ones that are a ‘chore’ can.

Win/win?

How does having more impact you in that scenario?

No, I’m always ok with more options, as I would usually complete extra dailies if I found them fun. Just saying that it’s not as restrictive as I expected it to be.

Though it might be too good in ANet’s eyes if statistically too much dailies got completed, so that might’ve been a countermeasure. And there’re also achievement grinders who can’t control themselves… Again, just saying, as I’m always trying to see the full picture and not only things which affect me.

Ah, OK. Wasn’t getting the full picture of where you were coming from.

I’ve been wondering if that is a direct reaction to this thread or others like it. Unless the first few days were just a totally random coincidence, it appears Anet made a hasty change to the daily rotation and made semi-permanent the ones that are almost impossible to play and not get. The only reason I can think of for that is as a temporary fix until they add more variety and start the rotations again.

I was originally very opposed to such an amount of dailies, but seeing the trend in the mix now, I can say that it feels really natural now – just play and most likely you’ll be at 4/5 or 5/5 before you even check the list. Heck, even Daily Feast now is a realistic 5 foods.

Though, it would be nice to re-think the channels on the outfits and maybe go 6 total at least.

Also, loved that scar armor in GW!

What they said, plus my old favorite outfit (attached; prove to me why I think you didn’t convert some things is not really why you didn’t convert some things). Replace the witches boots with something the same size, but without a heal? And just kinda plain? Not too bulky, and not too small (much smaller than those).

Edit: Oh! And for the 4 dye channels, the shorts can be one color (or 2), shirt another (or 2) and last for the boots.

Plus what the human female armor repair NPCs where? It’s not all of them, but I recall one near where the TPs are where your character starts in Queensdale that has black overalls and a shortsleeve white shirt under it? I remember thinking way back when the game first came out that I’d probably be able to find that in the game.

There’s a dress that one of the two hunters that stalk the boar in Queensdale wears. That’s nice too.

Will You Be Playing GW2 Less Post Patch ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: notebene.3190

notebene.3190

Only slightly less.

I mostly just logged in to do 5 world events I like to do, plus the dailies (and monthlies, if I hadn’t completed for the month, and any living story content to complete metas and work towards extra prizes, like halos and such).

The ‘slightly less’ part comes into play because of the reduced ‘extra’ dailies I get to do each day, as the grab bag was cut down. I used to do all the extra steps every day that didn’t involve WvW, PvP, Dungeons or Fractals.

I have saved up quite a bit towards making a Bifrost, including the precursor. I’m at a point now where I need to go to Arah, but am pretty petrified at not doing a good job. I see those ‘buy a spot’ groups out from time to time, and was considering that, but I’m concerned about trusting them. What’s to stop them from kicking me out before I get my max dungeon tokens for the first run of the day? Not to mention having to pull that off 9 times. So, all the pieces sit in my bank unused.

I have a 52nd and 55th level character, Warrior and Mesmer, respectively. Not super excited about how much it’ll cost to ‘keep them in their look’ (armor and weapons) up to 80, so they sit there. Skinning used to ‘effectively’ be free 1-79. Not so much now. Yes, people argue about the cost of the skins themselves, but that’s in game money, not ‘real’ money, and was comparatively different. But I digress, there’s plenty of vitriol regarding charges in other threads.

I wanted to run a new Engineer and Necro up, but besides the charge issue above, I can’t settle on a race. I sure love my humans. I have one Norn, the 52nd level Warrior, and she’s alright. I was thinking that it would make sense to run up some different races in the different armor weights to unlock and enjoy some of the other racial armor, but at the end of the day, not sure how psyched I am about the Norns. For me, it’s about the feeling of speed and camera distance to see the same amount of character. It’s disorienting, after running the smallest humans possible.

I used to do a lot of WvW, back when I was on Sea of Sorrows (where I started) in the first few months. Then even more after I moved to Emhry Bay (where I am now). It was a lot of fun. When they moved to the new match up system, something weird happened to EB. We used to do well in our bracket, then a whole bunch of guilds left with the new flexible system, and then some other changes happened and I just became less motivated to do that.

Don’t really care for dungeons. Never have, any game. Too much pressure, drama, Gordon Gekko, Starbelly Sneetches for my taste.

So I just do my dailies and my 5 world events.

So, other than asking people for help about a class, you won’t see me posting in the forums about how I hate my class(es), because it’s not something I’m passionate about. I’m sure that’s true for many people.

I have no science to back this up, but posting is ‘usually’ about:

1. Asking a question.
2. Answering a question.
3. Complaining about something (yes, I have my own peeves!).
4. Responding to other complaints that are the same as yours.
5. Responding in opposition to posts that someone else complained about, and feel the opposing view should be heard, lest someone take the crazy people seriously! :p

Other than that, happy people generally don’t post. Sometimes after a patch or living story to say how much they enjoyed the new content, but I bet you don’t see much of that in a class forum.

So assuming that’s all true, by definition, most of what you’ll see is negative content in the class forums.

And sometimes it’s game specific. I play another game as well as this game and the forum environment is ‘totally’ different, as is the way the development team interacts with the community. If you post ‘why’, you will be given an answer, regardless as to whether you like the answer or not. You’ll also get a pretty clear idea as to how everyone else feels about it. And they ask for our opinion and help a lot in designing and testing new things.

Goes a long way.

Only 10 Daily Achivements?

For me, the extra dailies were a way to maybe ‘catch up’ in total AP points to folks that get AP points in other ways.

Maybe I don’t like WvW, Dungeons, etc…but I could do 3-4 extra dailies that didn’t involve those and that would, over time, help me catch up. At least to folks (and probably the majority of folks?) that would only pick 5 things to do, and that’s it. Daily is done; move on.

What concerns me more now is my choices are limited. Like today, there were effectively ‘just’ 5 that I could do (that involved things I was willing to do; i.e., no dungeons, fractals, WvW, PvP). Before they were merged, and PvE and WvW were in the list, there were usually 7-10 things I could do that didn’t involved dungeons, fractals, WvW or PvP. So even if I didn’t want to do all 7-10 things to squeeze some more AP out, I had a ‘choice’ of what to put together to make the bare minimum.

That’s the part that is gone.

If they want to limit the individual daily AP limit, then they should do that…but using a different mechanic than just removing the availability of choice. Give us the choices back, but only award 1 point for each daily step ‘until the daily is rewarded’ (5), then stop handing out AP points.

I started to login to Blazeridge (a new megaserver zone) guested on Tarnished Coast. Usually, the LFG tab tells you what server you are on. Right now, it doesn’t tell me where I’m at.

So, I don’t really know where I am. But I hope we have enough people to do kitten in 30 minutes, wherever I’m at.

Game Updates: Runes

I’m having a hard time understanding the Sigil rules for the stat stacking ones, like say Power and Something else. I understand I couldn’t, say, put too Bloodlust on my staff. Could I put a Bloodlust and then one that gives me Precision (not sure of the name)? Or will that not work because it’s two stats? What about a Bloodlust and one that helps Condition? Same issue?

All that part isn’t too clear.

The concept is great but the application is horrible.

That….. describes pretty much Anet has every done post-launch. Good idea, horrible execution.

I have a question. Are they the same people?

Who remains in positions of influence on the live team that we have now that was part of the design vision when it was built? Totally different people?

Gazillion interacts with us in Marvel Heroes constantly, and make us feel like part of the team. Members of the community have literally ‘become’ part of the team. They are constantly rolling out new stuff, and while the genre is different, there isn’t any reason why the same philosophy couldn’t be applied anywhere.

Their game is is ‘crowd funded’ just like this one: via a shop.

If nothing else, peruse the forums some time.

Endless Clothes Tonics

I’m really just puzzled as to why the clothing tonics exist at all, instead of being outfits. That’s a far better system, since they’d at least be dyeable and usable in combat, and they wouldn’t have the arbitrary time limit that tonics do, or take up inventory space. We still couldn’t mix and match them anymore, but it would be a heck of a lot better than the tonic system just the same.

A cookie to anyone who can give a good reason for them being tonics instead of outfits!

In short, a healthier game.

That and the change to the human female running animation 4-5 months ago and the choice to pair the khaki shorts with a big frumpy shirt and big ugly boots rather than what I used to wear sends quite a message. They never did respond to any of my why questions.

I mean, that’s an awfully big wall of text, but it doesn’t explain to me why the outfit I used to wear with the khaki shorts (for example) couldn’t have been turned into one piece and made an outfit. It doesn’t really explain why they even ‘bothered’ with the tonics.

When we started looking at bringing more of the clothing back into armor with mix and match styles there are some fundamental incompatible things between weight classes.

That’s about the closest thing to an explanation in all that he wrote, but it doesn’t really say anything.

Well, of course, their requests for subsidies was not Paraguayan in and of it is as it were the United States government would never have if the president, our president, had not and as far as I know that’s the way it will always be. Is that clear?

Sounds a lot like that. That was Emmett Fitz-Hume. From Spies Like Us.

What is incompatible about the outfit I used to wear? Oh yes.

In short, a healthier game.

Game Updates: Wardrobe, Transmutation, Outfits

I will be requesting refunds for:

1 Cherry Blossom Shirt
2 Khaki Shorts
3 Leather Hoodies
14 Riding Clothes (these were about half pants, half boots, and one or two gloves)
3 Layered Vests
1 Ornate Shirt
1 Boxing Gloves
1 Cook’s Outfit
1 Witch’s Outfit

Needless to say, I consider this “upgrade” to be a massive downgrade and failure.

I have a few of those, but I’ll probably keep the witch’s outfit, as that can actually be used. I’d keep the cook if I had one, and considering picking up a pirate.

I’m mostly bummed about the khaki shorts, which they paired with big ugly boots and a big, ugly, frumpy shirt. Of course they were going to do that.

My concern about getting the refund is, if they maybe ‘change’ later how the khaki tonic looks, and it’s then appealing, but you can’t get it any more, then I’d miss out.

I wonder if they’d have any inclination to do something like that?

Otherwise, yes, the shorts and a hoodie I bought. Might as well get the gems back for them in the state they are in.

There are 5 events I like to try to do every day.

SB
Maw
Wurm (little)
Claw
kitten

I’m trying to understand the new schedule, but I must be doing something wrong. Claw ‘should’ have been at 5:30, right? The TBD slot is a place holder and nothing happens there to keep everything even, right? It wasn’t here.
