Hair accessory colors?

I had this same suggestion, but I tried to come up with something that was at least seemingly cheap to do. Don’t get me wrong, having access to all the clothing dye would be awesome, but in lieu of that, if they just let us use a makeover kit to change it, and check to see if ‘all’ we change is the hair accessory, then don’t burn the kit.

That would at least make it more or less a free activity to come ‘close’ to matching when we feel like changing our clothing color on a whim.

But yes, I’d ‘love’ to have the option of dyeing it based on all the dyes I know.

I’m not against them, provided I can hide them, and if they come with stats, there is a way for a casual player to at least acquire a reasonable exotic version of it.

Having said that, with my luck, they’ll introduce it, and someone’s OCD will flare up because of some completely inconsequential clipping issues, and then they’ll change the running animation on my characters again, to something even ‘more’ atrocious than the first round of running animation changes, and my characters will all look like Lurch.

Thanks again, everyone.

the HoT foods heal based on your effective level. e.g. at 80 If i recall you heal 85 per tick, in highish level areas you may see a heal proc of ~64. In a mid level area ~48. Mango pie is level 80 and costs about 30 copper each, Peach pie is level 75 and costs like 3 copper each, Glazed pumpkin pie is level 60 heals over time and lasts for 45 minutes and gives +15% XP for kills.

What about the level of the food itself? It seems odd they’d let me make a lower level food to get heals and then make it heal as much as an 80th level food, both consumed by an 80th level character? Maybe it’s the ‘lesser’ of food level and consumer level?

Mango Pies are a level 80 HoT food, with a vitality bonus added.

I’ve used this once or twice to find food names. http://wiki.theamazonbasin.com/index.php/Guild_Wars_2_Nourishment_Database

Thanks!

Edit: Though, it’s still not entirely clear how much health you get per second. If it’s relative to the level of the food (or required level to consume the food)?

Is there any site or easy way in the wiki to look up a food by an attribute? To find all the food by a single attribute that can be crafted (or purchased too, drops, etc)?

I’d like to find some HoT food, like this .

Also, with an attribute like “gain health every second”, are there degrees of that? Is it a static value of health per second, or does it change based on the level of the food?

This bothers me, so so much.

Herb Farms?

I don’t think there is any way to tell. Certain ingredients are level limited such as Snow Truffles and Orrian Truffles being limited to recipes for lvl 80 characters and are thus going to be in level 80 areas. Herbs are very likely to drop from herb sprouts of course, but all from unlikely places like trees. I’m sure we’ve all see pepper corns, cinnamon, and the like from trees. I think part of it reflects that in nature a variety of herbs are from trees.

In fact, that reminds me that I’ve had random drops of bay leaves from various trees.

Really? Just logging trees too? I’ll keep an eye out for that, and be sure not to skip logging any trees as I’m looking for herbs.

That information should be found on the wiki.

By the way, bay leaves are a rather common drop in my memory, and I do believe they mostly drop in Kryta (Gendarran Fields and Bloodtide Coast).

Thanks for the second part, that’s where I started, and have had some good luck so far.

As far as the wiki, it doesn’t really. I tells you the 3 herb plants they come from, but not if they are more likely to be found on those plants in certain zone ranges vs others. It didn’t seem like it was as easy to discern as something like trying to figure out where you’d get cotton, for example.

Herb Farms?

No, the “farm fields” only appear for specific cooking ingredients that yield only a single type of ingredient (e.g. cauliflower, lettuce, strawberry, sugar pumpkin). Such “farms” are also usually the only places where these ingredients can be found.

Herbs (of various qualities) appear on all maps, and are not limited in that way. However, if you are looking for very specific herbs, you should note that not all ingredients drop from all herb nodes.

For example:
- Chilli Peppers only drop from herb nodes in Ascalon.
- Vanilla Beans only drop from herb nodes in Maguuma.
- Coriander Seeds only drop from herb nodes in Kryta.
- Rosemary Sprigs only drop from herb nodes in the Shiverpeaks.

Some of these are also limited to certain level ranges. (E.g. While Vanilla Beans can drop from Maguuma herb patches from level 1 areas and up, Cloves will only drop from level 55-ish and up.)

(By the way, everything I mentioned about herbs also applies to root vegetables.)

Thank you very much!

I was looking for Bay Leaves, and it seemed like it could come from anywhere 15-70th level. I was able to get some in Gendarran Fields. How do I tell based on the item itself which zones I might be able to get it in more specifically?

It used to be that way. Somewhere along the line (just like new web pages that have like 10 words of content and 60 ft of scrolling pictures), someone thought it would be a grand idea to use your email address. Never understood it, other than programming laziness (“Well, emails are unique, so hey, we don’t have to write a unique username algorithm test on account creation! Sweet, early lunch! Who wants to go to the Korean BBQ place?”).

Having said that, and knowing the onus will be on us for this one, as they have the communication skills of a brick (still hoping for a hostile takeover by Gazillion), you could create a secondary email for your games that isn’t your primary one.

Just be sure the passwords are always different across games and no game has the same password a the email you use.

Maybe the new trend will be to hide our email addresses by using social security numbers? :|

If I do whatever I need to do to ‘tag’ a monster such that it counts towards a monster count, if said monster is part of an event (for example), or otherwise and subsequently awarded experience for killing said monster, then I should at least be rewarded a blue [bag/shell/wallet/purse/backpack/fanny pack/messenger bag/cell phone belt holder].

It seems to be very inconsistent now, whether you are given anything at all, and clearly have done plenty of damage.

If I were to guess, it seems like what is happening is the first ‘n’ people to ‘hit’ a monster are added to a “ok, we’ll give you a bag” table, and then your performance on the monster determines white-orange bag. You could be the n+1 person to hit a monster, and do far more damage than the nth person, and still get nothing…but, get XP, event completion (if applicable), monster count (if applicable, say for an event or Slayer count).

That doesn’t make any sense.

Just in relation to being first: I’ve noticed some bugs with various champs and have purposefully made sure I was first next go-around and kept doing as much damage as possible. Some still bug out, so it’s not the first hit thing.

Interesting.

Well, whatever it is, it needs to be fixed.

If I’m given credit for killing the monster on all other levels, I should at least be getting a blue bag. Otherwise, don’t give me XP, event progression (yes, I’d fail Maw), etc. Make us compete over nodes, put old school monster tagging in the game, forced party grouping (no organic grouping), goblin camp camping. It’s a mechanic, whether intentional or bugged, that’s at complete odds with the way everything else works. There shouldn’t be two systems of tagging.

What are you all doing?

I come in every day and do 6 world events I like, which usually helps me get all the daily steps done I can and want to do (sometimes there’s a little bit of extra work to finish it off). One character does 2 of the events, but I have 4 other characters parked at each place, which is nice because I get to spend a little bit of time with them each day. One is kitten Warrior that is chipping away slowly at 80 (but I really need to get back on zone clearing, which is the most enjoyable thing for me to do).

I still have one more thing I want to buy with Festival Tokens, a snake pet, I think. I have about 100 more to go, but I’ve been pacing myself just doing two events a day where the air ship is. I also enjoy having the extra mining for crystals (besides my home node, which I hit every day), and will probably continue that until it’s gone.

I have a 15th level Engineer I’m working on and having fun with.

I am starting to spend a little bit of time mining in lower level areas, which I’ve neglected, and need to get 3 more professions to 500. I was also out of the blue intrigued with the idea of making some unidentified yellow dyes to try to get some better gold dyes, so I’m playing with that, looking for some bay leaves and such.

Every day I look to see if anyone is charging for an Arah run. I need to go about 10 times on 10 different days to get the tokens I need for Bifrost. And every day, even though I see a few, I chicken out and don’t go. That’s been going on for a year.

Beyond that, not much. I do a few easy puzzles each day while I’m working on the 6 WEs I like to do. I always make an FE key, whether 30 people have them or not. I just enjoy it. I hit the JP in Frostgorge every day and the 4 ori/ancient nodes. Sometimes I try to go farming for T6 Blood with my Ranger, who I recently respec’d to be something other than just a Bearbow, which has been kinda fun to try.

Truth be told, I’m spending a little bit more time in another game (not an MMO, mostly an RPG, but it has some MMO-like qualities and some people seemed bent on just assuming that’s what it is and wonder where housing and pets are, which is really, really confusing to me for the type of game it is) each day, so I spend a bit less time here. Also spending more money there which leaves me less for here.

Still enjoying myself here, just trying to dream up new goals for myself. I should really go to those Arah runs, it’s just 10 runs, but I don’t really know who to trust and also don’t want to be a burden (but really want the staff, as I have the precursor and quite a bit of the pre-work done).

To follow up on ‘the whitest white’ (which became more a discussion about ‘the blackest black’, so I changed the title), what are some of the top options for gold per material?

Understanding that this is probably not as black and white as … black and white.

On my pirate outfit, I’m currently using ‘Lemon Zest’ on the sash (necklace; boot buckles). It got me thinking about some other characters I have, particularly in heavy armor (but not really plate) that are using the default gold, and if I could make some of them look a bit better.

Thanks.

So (love stories that start with ‘so’) I was loitering around in my Pirate outfit, sans hat, with a nice white top and black pants/boots. Gold sash and boot buckle. Looking pretty snazy.

Up comes someone in an all black pirate outfit as well, only, it was a ‘lot’ blacker. It looked great!

As I always do, I asked politely if they minded if I knew what dye that was. Usually, I never get a response, and I’m sure some of that could be attributed to it just getting lost in all the other conversations they might have going on if they are super social or watching guild chat and there’s a lot going on, etc, but I digress.

They responded (thank you again!), and the answer was “Midnight Fire”.

I’m using Abyss, I always thought Abyss was the blackest black, and Celestial was the whitest white? That confused me a bit. So I went to order a Midnight Fire, and it’s surprisingly cheap, certainly compared to Abyss.

So, I guess that’s question one. Whyfor? And, is there something even blacker than Midnight Fire? Is it a material thing? What is the blackest black for each material?

And then back to the subject: what is the whitest white? Celestial? Is it based on material? If so, what is the whitest white for each material?

Thanks.

I disagree with this entirely the whole guildwars model was built around “no subscription fee ever” and by adding something like they will cause a huge negative uproar to pretty much 90% of the community who are casual.

This.

Plus, you could take that $15/mo and buy 1200 gems, and buy whatever gold that gets you, and then buy directly whatever materials you need to fill the gap left by DR.

Also known as “Pay 2 Win”…

I guess you can call it whatever you want, it is something you have been able to do since the game launched.

If this thread is about paying a monthly fee to deal with DR, then the solution of buying gems to then buy gold to then buy materials fills the same need, without having to create an additional payment system which would, as Defend stated, and I happen to agree with, have a detrimental effect on the economy.

I disagree with this entirely the whole guildwars model was built around “no subscription fee ever” and by adding something like they will cause a huge negative uproar to pretty much 90% of the community who are casual.

There are diminishing returns in place for a reason, if by giving select few who pay benefits to farm so much gold very quickly, which they would if given the chance it would completely destroy the economy, for example If the farmers pay this amount to farm all the time and get so much gold, the gold will slowly become less and less valuable and prices will rise on the trading post because people can just buy anything. Then there are the people without these privileges, struggling to ever keep up with the constant price rises and never being able to afford items they may want from the trading post.

It creates a divide which isn’t wanted or needed in guildwars.
You say how simple it is yet you haven’t even bothered thinking about the effects that it can have on the game in a whole, yes it may create revenue for anet, but they will also lose half of their playerbase in the process. which probably isn’t worth it.

For me, it just comes back to the simple mechanic, I guess.

If I ‘tagged’ it sufficiently with respect to being credited for the kill, be it a Slayer achievement, World Event, Dynamic Event, Heart completion, Living Story, Personal Story, etc, then I should at least get the blue bag, and then they can do whatever formula they want after that for white and orange.

There seems to be two types of tags, and that makes no sense.

I don’t know, just tested this again this morning. I skipped the 3 portals and went over to where maw was standing with a billion people, I’m sure many of them grouped, I wasn’t. I just targeted him and started attacking him with my Mesmer at range while he was invulnerable. As soon as he opened up, I’m sure I was one of the first ‘n’ people to hit him.

I just went through my normal rotations, and there was a shiny brown bag for me at the end. :\

I did rez one downed person near me, and I’ve also noticed that before the mega servers, my quality would often increase if I spent a lot of time rezzing people and not even attacking maw much, and rotating through more of my (then Elementalist’s) attunements, even those with far less DPS, and lots of water to keep people healed. Other times, I could not rez people and try to concentrate on DPS and get white bags.

It just seems like there’s more going on, and I’d personally love to know how it all works.

Ok, that was pretty convincing, and thank you for taking the time. It just seems like I’m doing the same rotations and damage every time. If I make sure I’m one of the first people to hit it, I’ll get a bag.

And not all mobs are created equal. I always get a bag on champs in Frostgorge. My problem is the champs at the jungle warm, maw and the mech troll thing using the matrix cube key after the fire elemental.

It just seems odd to me that if I get xp for a kill, and credit for the kill, be it an event or whatever, that I wouldn’t get my personal loot.

This actually sounds really neat, and I’m pretty excited about it. I’m also hoping that the part about ‘permanently altering or expanding’ means we’ll be seeing some new zones as well (and hopefully complete with hearts, JPs, Vistas, SPs and all the other good stuff).

I do have a question.

What happens with Achievement Points?

I don’t WvW or PvP, those folks seem to have access to big boosts of APs as part of their seasons or tournaments or whatever it is. All I get as someone who really only PvEs any more (used to WvW, don’t care to any more), and doesn’t do Fractals or Dungeons, are the Living Story achievements and the meta achievements, as well as those part of festivals (like we have now).

Now, it could have said in the announcement and I totally missed it, but will there still be ongoing ‘batches’ of APs that are introduced in the PvE world as part of Living Story (or something else) as part of this new system besides the festival APs that appear?

Thanks.

But yes: TL;DR – if you know a champ drops a bag, and you have trouble getting it solo, group up.

That’s a fine philosophy, but if that is the solution, then it needs to be all or none.

They either need to do it the old way, where we fight over nodes, tag monsters, have to group to do the most benign things.

Or, there’s no monster tagging, no fighting over nodes, etc.

The way it is now, ‘everything’ seems to work except the bag thing. It’s not an issue of whether or not a champ drops one, it drops one.

It’s not a damage thing, I know that’s not what’s going on. It’s a tagging problem. If you are one of the first ‘n’ people (or groups, yes) to tag, then you get a bag, at which point your damage plays a factor in what kind of bag you get). If you are the nth+1 person to tag and do 90% of the damage, you don’t get a chance at the bag, because you didn’t make this list.

This is what needs to be fixed.

So I had my pirate outfit on, and my helmet was turned off (dry land toggle, sadly you don’t let us turn off our breathing mask). When I went underwater, the pirate hat appeared.

When I walked back on dry land, the pirate hat was still on. I tried toggling the outfit off, the pirate hat was still on.

I toggled the pirate outfit back on, and then toggled the armor helmet on and off, and was left with wearing my pirate outfit…and showing my breathing mask…while on dry land.

Zoning finally cleared it.

P.S. – let us hide the breathing mask. And before we get all the immersion (pun intended) comments, I don’t really care. Immersion is such a subjective thing and we could argue all day about it and neither of us would be right or wrong about what breaks immersion and what doesn’t. Well…unless you were thinking about adding a fat Elvis outfit…I think that would break everyone’s immersion.

You can’t dodge while you harvest. And of course then there are always those players that have to activate as much worms around you as possible.

With respect to the OP and Jungle Wurm. No sympathy there. You should not get to one shot a world boss, whether it’s one that has to be killed by the Lambda Lambda Lambda frat house or an easy PUG one.

See here:

Obviously no attack should one-shot a boss. But making these attacks unreflectable instead of making them do little (but proportionate to weapon skills) damage is a lazy fix (just as many others we often see in the game).

It was something that could be used to disrupt others’ play, and I’m glad it’s gone. There were some Mesmers that were good about waiting until everyone got settled in and used it at about 50%, and that was very nice of them, but at the end of the day, there are too many people that get their satisfaction in life solely out of seeing others’ misery while being immune to the misery inflicted.

I guess I need to watch the items I’m selling more carefully, maybe it’s ‘all’ of certain types of weapons that have increased quite a bit? Maybe the increased prices of precursors have made people fall back on trying to roll one in the MF, so they are scooping up items to melt? And the most common drops just happen to have the Air sigil in it, so maybe it has nothing to do with the sigil itself, it just seems that way?

Major Sigil of Air is one of the most frequent sigils people get when they salvage their rares. That type of weapon seems to drop with that sigil. As a result, there is a steady supply of these sigils on the market which makes it good for people who place buy orders so that they can gamble.

I guess I don’t understand how the market works then, which is OK.

I thought maybe people were actually using them for something, like if you combined 4 of them in the MF, there was a chance at getting something amazing, something like that.

Wouldn’t they need to be selling for a whole lot more than they are to warrant all the weapons that contain them having their price shoot up? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, I’ve been selling mine, and the demand has been great. I just don’t understand how they could possibly be making money if all they are doing is stripping the sigil out and then selling the sigil? Some of those weapons are going for like 50s, when they used to maybe get 35?

Edit: I guess to clarify, it’s the increase in the demand and prices of the weapons that have those sigils that is confusing me, and not any direct evaluation of the ‘major sigil of air’ market itself that had me curious. I’m not even really sure how much those sell for. Which made me curious as to if the sigils themselves had some value outside of cash value?

Besides their obvious use (which can’t possibly explain their popularity), what are people doing with them that they seem to be in such demand?

And not them specifically, I suppose, I’ve noticed it the past few weeks or more on weapons that happen to have it. The items are ‘really’ over priced, which, is nice because we have some yellows to sell to actually make some money.

But it got me wondering if I should be saving them and doing something with them myself?

I guess this really isn’t about choices and options after all. Time will tell whether this can be resolved ultimately through education rather than intolerance. I’ll just wish everyone good luck at this point.

This is how he responds to you if you say you’re a girl from sweden. I’m amazed this guy isn’t banned yet tbh, reported him with screenshots and he still runs around looking for swedish girls

Thankfully I’m not the only one who realizes skimpy armor makes no sense. Who runs into battle with sharp weapons with their stomach exposed?

Also, did anyone post that vid of the female warrior complaining bout the skimpy armor while the males got fully covered?

Yes. It doesn’t make any sense.

The fact that I sheathe my staff and it floats 6 inches from my back makes no sense.

I can magically make myself appear any where in the world by using a magic map (did I get that from Dora?).

There is a giant candy corn in my home zone that I can mine.

It said I grew up in a family of privilege, where is my home?

Why can’t it just be about making available as many choices and options for people to dress their characters how they see fit so they can enjoy themselves? Does the solution have to involve intolerance?

1. Programming issue. Not even related to topic.
2. Magic
3. Magic
4. You can be in a family of privilege and still not be given a home.

People can dress however they want, I’m just saying its impractical on the field of battle.

By that logic, who is to say that magic isn’t what provides extra protection?

But yes, at it’s core, in real life, it would be impractical to wear many of the things we get to wear, regardless as to how they’d be categorized based on the theme of the thread.

I also agree that people should be able to wear whatever they want.

Well, we are still taking damage despite if any magic there is protecting us. Even so, the magic would have to be concentrated more in the largely open areas to make sure you don’t get skewered. Imagine the defense of the armor improving even moreso by the magic overall if not concentrated in one area.

Thus, the skimpy armor is still impractical.

Semantics. The magic part of my armor is that it’s really all plate, but it just appears to other’s as something entirely different.

No option for balance of both across all classes, which is what I’d like. Too much skimpy light armor, too many long trenchcoats for medium.

As other’s have pointed out, if you were to actually count the numbers, it’s a low percentage of the overall choices. It just seems that way, either because more people choose to wear it (whether actively, or passively – still not liking it, but better than the alternatives), or because of predisposed perceptions.

In the spirit of choices and options, hopefully you would believe that the solution could be accomplished by adding more options which aren’t those you indicated you do not like, while at the same time, not removing anything existing, and possibly also including additional items of types you don’t like for those who may?
