This is the first I’ve seen of one. I suggest reloading and trying again. It might have just glitched. It happens.

It turns out there was something that triggered in the old bank, which wasn’t anywhere near the 3 green lights I was supposed to go to. After I did that, it finished up, thanks.

It takes place in LA, but it won’t finish.

It’s called “Reconnaissance”, and you are supposed to patrol 3 places. I went to each place, the green lights at each place went away, but it still is stuck on ‘Patrol each section of the Canal Ward’.

Really wanted to get a point for the daily personal story achievement. Are all of these quests related to LA broken?

Remove champion bags from LA champs

But the main objective isn’t the only objective. People have lots of different reasons for being there, and they gave us lots of reasons to be there. We have events to do for achievements, or because they are fun. We have heirlooms to collect, both for an achievement and a fun item (loot). There are blue bags to collect that have items in them that can be used to buy fun items (loot). There are civilians to rescue, the more you rescue, the more stuff you get (loot).

Other than people that literally walk in and just stand there for 40 minutes at the entrance, I’m not entirely sure why any one path to have a good time and obtain loot is the one way that has to be done, and everything else has to be changed so there is the one way? That seems boring.

Now, if the diversity of activities and limit to the number of people in the area cause certain things to not be achievable, then they ought to adjust that. And guess what? They did (1200 vs 1500), and many of the times I participate, we get the 1200. I’d say most times (except in the morning, which is a ‘great’ time to go do your heirloom run!).

And as others have pointed out, it’s not even about numbers so much as coordination and willing people to help ensure a variety of things get done, and not too many people doing one thing. The zerg at certain events seems to make them too powerful and hard to complete, or hard to complete efficiently and timely.

I don’t know. It seems fine, other than the 40 min AFK’rs.

[Suggestion] Mouse wheel scrolls characters

I think we’re supposed to put suggestions in a ‘related’ forum (now that the suggestion forum is gone)? Didn’t really find a forum about the UI, so I’ll put it here.

I thought it might be kinda nice to let the mouse wheel scroll through the characters instead of having to click on the ‘>’ and ‘<’ buttons. This applies if you have more than 7 characters.

Not a huge deal, but if a UI person has bandwidth and it’s low impact and all that.

That’s a nice chunk of gold, almost enough to hop up to 500 in a craft. Seems a waste to use it for closer-together access of things you can already get to for free.

But maybe you’ve got all kinds of gold and, unlike me, really benefit from that quick back-and-forth between bank, crafting stations, trading post, and forge.

I don’t, actually, have all that much gold either. Don’t have a bifrost, though have the pre-cursor, but don’t have enough of the mats nor will I probably ever get to go to the dungeon I need to to make it.

What’s funny is, I think of gold and gems separate, even though you can exchange one for the other. I make gold via the game and only the game, and buy what I can with gold in the game. When I want something from the gem store, I buy gems with cash (though I wish each higher tier pack gave you a ‘few’ more gems, like every other game sells their in game currency). I never think of something in the gem store in terms of “how much gold is that”?

Yeah, I guess I am in Divinity’s Reach a lot anyways, passing through on the way to SB or once a day farming my home instance and maybe crafting. It’s actually nice to see a few folks loitering around town again like when we started (though, I don’t think we’ll ever get that feeling back, wish I spent more time breathing it all in back then).

So, I guess I’m leaning towards not getting it, and saving up for maybe a new set of armor that I like, or a pet, or an extra bag or bank space or something.

Edit: But thanks for all the input, both thumbs up and thumbs down and why. Exactly what I was hoping for.

Yes I actually mean it.

No, I was thinking of using gems. I buy things from time to time, like extra character slots, an extra bag per character, extra bank space, clothes, armor, pets, etc. Just was wondering whether it might be something fun and useful to get.

I didn’t think I’d like it, but it’s really a lot of fun. Last favorite one was probably the one with the sky ships that introduced the sprint activity?

Not super crazy about the look of the back piece, but nice that I can craft an ascended back piece without being a fractal runner, and I can always hide it, or maybe make it look like a flower or something later.

I like that there are different things to do inside the event as well. Events, escorts, rescue.

I’ve never seen the Terrace. Is there a lifetime pass for that?

You mentioned it putting you in the camp when you exit. It doesn’t put you back to wherever you used it from in the world, like when you go to WvW and logout?

Plus, after that Vigil camp goes away, wouldn’t it be logical to assume the exit would put you somewhere else more useful? Perhaps a rebuilt something or new hub or somewhere else?

Hmm.

the bigger problem is
that much more of the players that dont help at the events are NOT the afk people but the people collecting heirlooms!

but you cant blame them to do so…they have to collect all 40 each day if they want both tonics (500 heirlooms)…

it is ANETs fault for making it like this…

I also want to make the correction that this is only an issue the first few hours after reset at most. It only takes 30 minutes to get all 40 on average. The last several times that I have played, we always failed to hit 1200 right after reset but then went back to hitting it from the next one and onward.

But that circles right back to my point. You assume that everyone is doing things when you do them and the way that you do them. So by your criteria, if I don’t play with you right at reset every day, and get my heirlooms then, but rather do it at another time, then I’m a terrible person and deserve my own plane of hell? :|

On Sunday, I sat around Fort Mariner, on 3 different servers, through 2 passes on each server, because I ‘really’ wanted the last achievement (Fort Mariner Fighter, I think it’s called). I just stood there. I didn’t want to miss it. One time when trying to do an event, I’d stray too far, and not get back in time. At any rate, the event never even started once, until the very last time. Finally got it.

Now, you probably got yours on Tuesday, as soon as it went live, and any time after you get all your stuff, well times up, we shouldn’t be working on that, because you are done with that, and now you want 1200, so we should all be doing that?

I think there are two topics rolled into one here.

If someone steps in the portal and stands there for 45 minutes, that’s bad, and that’s what this post should be about.

If you see someone afk out on a bridge somewhere, and they died, and you rez them, and they die again, so you think that’s funny, and you keep rezzing them and letting them die and roll up a hefty repair bill, then you are a donkey fedora.

If someone is standing around Fort Mariner, maybe they are waiting and waiting and waiting to make sure they get all the events done there to get their achievement.

If you see someone loitering around the exit in the last 5 minutes, maybe in their mind, there is no point in continuing. Everything is done, elites are gone, you have 901 citizens, you aren’t going to get 1200, and they don’t think your idea of fighting until you are dead and your repair bill is 2,000 gold “because you can keep fighting after it’s over and get it” is very good, well there’s nothing wrong with that either. They maybe worked hard, or as hard as they could for 40 minutes and then just went to the portal for the last 5 to wait to get the reward and get out.

So if this thread is about someone walking into the area, and standing there for 45 minutes, then that is a problem. But there are ‘so’ many things going on beyond that when you come across someone standing somewhere that’s nearly anything shy of that, that has ‘nothing’ to do with you, and none of them owe you an explanation, Bob .

For those that bought it, how is it working out?

I know one argument is you can use WvW to do the same thing, but that only works if you have your keep and a waypoint setup in it to use the mystic forge, right? My server? Since the moved to floating match-ups months back, we kinda went down hill and I suspect lots of folks moved and we don’t do all that well any more.

Granted, I guess I only use the MF maybe once every 2-3 days?

Well, I was thinking about getting it. Hoping to hear from folks that got it and like it, regret it, or something in between.

Everyone needs something different, and often times when it’s not what ‘you’ are doing, then it’s wrong. Which, is funny

Before Thursday, if you were saving civilians, then you were being selfish, because of course, “we” are doing achievements now.

After Saturday, if you spend ‘any’ run looking for heirlooms, especially if it was on a run when “we/I” weren’t/wasn’t looking for heirlooms, then you are selfish.

Starting Friday, if you are doing anything but saving civilians, you are selfish.

Yes. Everything except the Kill the Elite Aetherblades event gives out loot that can include those bags. Something gives out like a keg of bags or something which has 100 of them in it. There’s tons of ways to get those bags, just follow a zerg around if you only care about the bags. I’ve got enough of those blades to make several back pieces now and my luck is going up like crazy with all the salvaging of greens from them too.

Ok thanks. I guess after the initial few days of following the zerg and working on achievements, I settled in to just trying to get like 33 heirlooms each day to try to save up to get the halo thing (not even sure what it does). As such, the only bags I’ve been seeing are the 15 at the end.

I just need to get back on the train.

I’m a bit worn out on the whole death/goth/vampire thing. It’s depressing. It doesn’t make me want to loiter in a zone. It just makes me look pasty and sad in the zone’s ‘death lighting’.

Yeah, they will exist, they just won’t be super easy from a time perspective any more.

I currently do the easy one in Southsun (free travel from LA, hopefully the same from Vigil?) and the one on the east side of town every day, mostly to keep a steady stream of the crafting material (as I don’t do dungeons hardly at all), as well as Queensdale and Frostgorge (which is a really easy one for me while I’m gathering). I suppose if the Southsun one was still accessible with free travel from Vigil, that would work. I’d just need to replace the other LA puzzle with something as easy (from a time and travel cost perspective as well). Maybe I’ll do the one in Wayfarer since I’m usually there for Maw? Though I’m not a big fan of all those red circles.

Ah well.

Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn.
